Dear Rashedul Haque,
Yes, indeed. The issue of Internet of Things technology is broad. But since the scale of cybercrime has increased during the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic, I propose the following topic for your thesis: Improving cyber security techniques and instruments in information systems operating in an environment that connects various networked devices via the Internet and performs Internet of Things functions. Within this topic, consider the possibility of combining Internet of Things, Blockchain, cloud computing technologies with other Industry 4.0 technologies in synergistic applications. Alternatively, consider another topic as well, such as the applicability of Internet of Things technologies in the field of process control improvement, energy optimization and generated energy management systems. This topic is timely in view of the developing energy crisis.

Hello,
I have a specific question about VR and AR in professional use.
VR and AR can be used in controlling robots and machines. This is possible if the VR and AR devices and robots are networked together. I wonder how this can be used to help foreign employees understand the language better. After all, virtual control is precisely what reduces the need for language skills. Is there any opinion or scientific source on this?
Thanks a lot!

It seems that the term Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has been there in the literature for the last 20 years or so, and when many researchers thought it will disappear when the term Internet of Things (IoT) was coined, they seemed wrong about it and now more and more papers are talking about the two terms in the same papers, so where does the WSN domain ends and where does the IoT begins in the entire big picture?
Relevant answer
Answer
WSN is an enabling technology for the IoT. WSN is a network compromising of sensor nodes deployed to measure the environment. IoT on the hand may consist of both sensors and actuators. WSN is not necessarily connected to the Internet while IoT is always connected to the Internet. I will suggest reading a book by Adam Dunkels "Interconnecting Smart Objects with IP".

I am currently writing my final thesis final about data quality, in particular about consistency. Therefore I am looking for a labeled IoT timeseries dataset for consistency detecting. Does anybody know, where I can find such dataset?
Or does anybody know where I can get a labeled IoT-timeseries dataset for anomaly detection?
Thank you for your help!
Relevant answer
Answer
Hello,
For the general case of time series anomaly detection, several benchmarks have been recently proposed. These two benchmarks contain labeled time series from different domains (for instance, room occupancy detection from temperature, CO2, light, and humidity [1] or accelerometer sensors of a wearable assistant for Parkinson's disease patients [2]).
You may find the links to the benchmarks below. Good luck with your thesis!

Is IoT architectural layered style just related to open platform or also to the other types of IoT architectural contexts like application specific and Network as a Service (NaaS). I mean is the other architectural contexts can be layered style too as open platform architecture?
Relevant answer
Answer
I have developed two IoT platform which was presented in this paper. This is open source and you can find the source code in the git link attached to the paper.
The main idea of the two IoT platforms is:
1. Improve security, privacy, transmission speed, and transmission reliability by combining MQTT protocol, Kafka message queue, Single Sign-On (Oauth2.0), and Roll-based Access Control. This also complies with microservice architecture.
2. Improve security, privacy, transmission speed, and transmission reliability using broker-less architecture (P2P communication - gRPC protocol) and microservice. The architecture uses decentralized identity (blockchain - Microsoft ION DID). Finally, the platform also provides a dynamic message transmission mechanism.

Answer
Dear Ljubomir,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, in recent years there has been a rapid development of internet technologies, ICT information technologies and Industry 4.0. The SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic accelerated the development of these technologies as the scale of internetisation and digitisation of many business processes increased during the pandemic. This growth not only occurred in service companies that were covered by lockdowns and sold their services (e.g. catering) via the Internet but also in many manufacturing companies that were not covered by lockdowns. In many manufacturing companies, the efficiency of production processes has been improved through the use of modern technologies to improve production logistics, quality control systems and computerised business management support systems. Through the use of new ICT information technologies and Industry 4.0, systems for information security, Internet data transfer, cyber security, etc. have been improved. In many companies, computerised digital twin systems have been built to improve multi-criteria modelling of economic and other processes, decision-making processes and management of the business entity. The SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic, through the use of home quarantines and lockdowns, has forced the scale-up of the internetisation and digitalisation of remote communication processes and various aspects of the economic processes carried out in companies and enterprises.
Thank you very much,

What libraries are suitable for pre-printing the article?
Relevant answer
Dear honorable researchers,
Preprints are defined as an author’s version of a research manuscript prior to formal peer review at a journal, which is deposited on a public server. ResearchGate (RG) said about "Preprints" an early-stage research.
Before answering this valuable question of Prof. Yashar Salami, please let me give my own opinion about preprint:
  • Why you let others know about your insights and methodologies before publication? You should avoid telling the other researchers about the details of anyone of your papers until it has been published and seeing your name by yourself. You may say that I am somewhat old-fashioned, but I have a different perspective for uploading any preprint anywhere before it has been published by your name. So, my advice is not to put your research anywhere until it is published.
  • Your manuscript may be copied and then published by others before you can do that. This stealing of your paper might be happening. So, you must wait until the paper is accepted and then published by that journal. Then, upload that research item on any platform you wish.
  • A journal may have automated plagiarism software to check the paper before admitting it to the reviewing process. There are chances that your paper can get a rejection at any point. Thus, to avoid this problem. Publish the preprint after you got the paper as "ACCEPTED".
Finally, for the coming future, do not upload any paper anywhere until it is published with your name. Even if it is a "preprint"! For the time being, If you had done something like that as a "preprint", for instance, I advise you to delete the preprint from any elsewhere and wait for two months before sending the paper to any journal.

The technology-centered approach of Industry 4.0 has proved improper since the lack of a human impact in the application of this concept. Therefore, the wave of change has effects that go far beyond technological transformation. Such a transformed industry requires new knowledge and skills of both engineers and workers. Hence, the European Commission adopted an official document presenting Industry 5.0 and emphasizing the main role of the research and innovation sector to support industry in its long-term service to humanity. The question is how to bring humans back to the forefront while maintaining the digital agenda and emphasizing sustainability and resilience with the aim to develop human-centric smart manufacturing systems?
Relevant answer
Answer
Industry 4.0 is already over. Industry 5.0 has already started with the search for technologies different from Industry 4.0. AI, meta, blockchain are only variants of "laboratory" research, which must lead humanity to other technologies of a higher order, which will be based on the results of basic "laboratory research". These technologies will be fundamentally different from 4.0 technologies.

We're working on a concept which we hope may help accelerate the development of new IoT + AI applications in support of advanced #telehealth , #mobilehealth , #remotecare and #hospitalathome applications. It's a free community sandbox to reduce dev costs and encourage collaboration. After we were challenged (by the @ResearchGate platform) to state a general hypothesis for the project, we worked backward and outlined a chain of major and minor hypotheses that (if at least partially valid!) would support our project design. It's an interesting exercise in unpacking the core thinking behind a new initiative. Attached is a graphics of the hypotheses. Please let us know what you think! And if you're interested, we're setting up series of brief virtual interviews with potential participants and partners to help us refine the concept.

Great point, Shafagat Mahmudova and great reference.
We are definitely envisioning this as a support for prototyping, or perhaps pre-prototyping, when you are just testing various approaches or various components of the idea. And it would be pre-patient, before we need to deal with privacy and consent issues.
We're assuming that, if you prove out some of your early architecture decisions and build out a business case, you will start to move towards a first-draft operational model. At that point, there will be a variety of options, both for a secure data platform as well as AI tool platform.
One strategy in accelerating innovation is to lower friction at very early stages, e.g. reduce the cost of trying something out. That's what we're imagining, and why we're asking for feedback. What specific features / functions would be useful at that stage?

In other words, you can use an experience obtained from a free online Masters degree program to "test out" classes at a college or university based on competencies. However it may be imperative for getting online certifications that will (at least) significantly reduce the time and the expense of college. hi,
RFID technology is especially widely used in production and logistics. It allows companies to track their entire supply chain easily. They can ensure things like an uninterrupted refrigeration chain, and they can identify missing goods instantly.
RTLS enables real-time tracking of tagged objects and helps create a system of connected devices that continuously transmit data about their location, conditions, amount, etc. These capabilities make the foundation for building an IoT system.Radio frequency identification system (RFID) is an automatic technology and aids machines or computers to identify objects, record metadata or control individual target through radio waves.

Hi Masoumeh Jafari, It varies depending on the purpose Blockchain (BC) is being used for the medicine data.
Please note that one single tool may not fulfill all the purposes we strive to do a test with. For example, one certainly needs High-Performance Computing (HPC) to test consensus (mining) algorithms, i.e., PoW, PoS, etc. However, if anyone is willing to set up a small BC network, BlockSim should be helping him out. Similarly, Caliper presents performance results, such as latency, scalability or delay overhead etc. Hope this helps. Zia, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia.

I wonder how realistic and practical are the routing attacks in RPL such as Blackhole, Sinkhole, Greyhole, Sybil etc. These attacks have been studied and solutions have been offered. But is there any known case where these attacks have actually been carried out in reality? Internet of Things devices are not like traditional computers where there are manned by a person, how can someone takes possession of such IoT devices and implement the RPL routing attacks?
Relevant answer
Answer
@Faisal A. Garba Till now there has been no real incident reported in this case. There are several reasons for this. One reason is the RPL is still in its development stage and not many organizations have deployment such networks. But as you know the benefits of using RPL it is going to be used in future at a very large scale and therefore security solutions for it need to be developed now. Another reason may be related to non-reporting of such cases.

There has been tremendous growth in the number of smart devices and their applications (e.g., smart sensors, wearable devices, smartphones, smart cars, etc.) in use in our everyday lives. This is accompanied by a new form of interconnection between the physical and digital worlds, commonly known as the Internet of Things (IoT). This is a paradigm shift, where anything and everything can be interconnected via a communication medium. In such systems, security is a prime concern, and protecting the resources (e.g., applications and services) from unauthorized access needs appropriately designed security and privacy solutions. Building secure systems for the IoT can only be achieved through a thorough understanding of the particular needs of such systems.

I am aware that there is previous case studies on the matter but I am trying to quantify the change using real data. Does anybody know where I can find production data of a manufacturing facility I can use?

You would have to get in touch with some of the companies and see if you can request the data. I would imagine not many will be fore coming. However, if you sign a NDA and you arent going to publicise were the data has come from then they may be willing to provide you with the data. Does your University have any collaborations or partnerships with any manufacturing companies. If they have it may be easier for you to go down that route.

Hi,
For our bachelor's thesis in ECE, we are creating a fire alarm monitoring system using ANFIS similar to the links below:
We have been stuck with our data and unable to train it with ANFIS because we have no clue as to how the fire chance was determined. Does anyone know how the Chances of True Fire (%) is computed?
Any help is deeply appreciated.
Relevant answer
Answer
In summary, a fire risk rating is a numerical scale representing the likelihood of flames igniting, spreading, and necessitating fire control activity across a vast region. It is generated by applying a series of complicated science-based equations to local data of current or forecast fuel, weather, and topography circumstances.
Fireline intensity, which is the rate of heat transfer per unit length of the fire line (measured in kW m1) and indicates the radiant energy release in the flame front, is a frequently used metric of fire intensity. The intensity of a forest fire is defined in terms of tree mortality, canopy loss, or bole and crown scorch.

My issue is that because the wifi csi is highly sensitive to the environment, how will it operate if the environment changes, for example, if I train it at home and then use it in my workplace room? Is it necessary to train before attempting to use each environment?
Relevant answer
Answer
In order to measure CSI, the WiFi transmitter delivers Long Training Symbols (LTFs) in the packet preamble, which comprise pre-defined symbols for each subcarrier. When LTFs are received, the WiFi receiver uses the received signals and the original LTFs to estimate the CSI matrix.

What is the target wireless technology for IoT and I4.0? Licensed or unlicensed. We have seen a tentative of wireless operators and manufacturers in selling 2G, 3G, 4G, and now 5G as the key technology for IoT and I4.0 applications. Also, unlicensed technologies based on IEEE 802.11 and 80.15.4 standards come to the table as promising solutions. Coverage, interference, data rates, quality of service, and delay are some constraints to be considered when defining a wireless solution. What is the target wireless technology for IoT and I4.0 in this decade?
Relevant answer
Answer
The specifications of the 5G networks is as follows:Up to 10Gbps data rate - > 10 to 100x speed improvement over 4G and 4.5G networks
  • 1-millisecond latency
  • 1000x bandwidth per unit area
  • Up to 100x number of connected devices per unit area (compared with 4G LTE)
  • 99.999% availability
  • 100% coverage
  • 90% reduction in network energy usage
  • Up to 10-year battery life for low power IoT device
So, this generation targets to increase the connectivity by 100 times meaning new services including the the internet of things and the industrial supervise and control of the processing in the industry. Since it covers also the the low latency and high speed communications required for the control applications. Large bandwidth also support the applications where precision in transporting signals is required.
In fact as you see Many new applications and services can be realized with these very advanced specifications.

Could any one please help me in suggesting some resources where I could find a comparison curve between signal strength after Multi Path propagation effect with respect to obstacle positions between transmitter and receiver.
After conduction some experiment I found that the effect was greater near Rx or Near Tx but lesser when the obstacle is in same distance from Rx and Tx. Why such phenomena happens?
Relevant answer
Answer
I suppose this depends on what kind of obstacles you are considering and how they are affecting the signals. If you consider an object that is scattering the signal, then the pathloss will be proportional to (d_1*d_2)^2 where d_1 is the distance from the transmitter to the obstacle and d_2 is the distance from the obstacle to receiver. For a given total propagation distance d_1+d_2, it follows that the pathloss is at its smallest when the scattering object is close to the transmitter or the receiver.

Stainless steel, anodized aluminum and NASICON-ceramic material have all been found to have acceptable conductivity for dry cathodes.
That said, because of metals' inelastic surface, such electrodes are very vulnerable to motion artifacts, which may become a major problem in embedded sensors on steering wheels, as you intend to implement them.
You can get some ideas from previous similar implementations, such as the CardioWheel:
I would also look into porous material such as polysiloxane, which should, at least in theory, come with attenuated motion artifacts.

The goal of predictive analysis is to develop predictions for the development of complex, multifaceted processes in various fields of science, industry, economy or other spheres of human activity. In addition, predictive analysis may refer to objectively performing processes such as natural phenomena, climate change, geological, cosmic etc.
Predictive analysis should be based on taking into account in the analytical methodology possible the most modern prognostic models and a large amount of data necessary to perform the most accurate predictive analysis. In this way, the result of the prediction analysis performed will be the least subject to the risk of analytical error, ie an incorrectly designed forecast.
Predictive analysis can be improved by using computerized modern information technologies, which include computing in the cloud of large data sets stored in Big Data database systems. In the predictive analysis, Business Intelligence analytics and other innovative information technologies typical of the current fourth technological revolution, known as Industry 4.0, can also be used.
The current technological revolution known as Industry 4.0 is motivated by the development of the following factors:
Big Data database technologies, cloud computing, machine learning, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, Business Intelligence and other advanced data mining technologies. On the basis of the development of the new technological solutions in recent years, dynamically developing processes of innovatively organized analyzes of large information sets stored in Big Data database systems and computing cloud computing for the needs of applications in such areas as: machine learning, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, Business Intelligence are dynamically developing.
For the abovementioned application examples, one can add predictive analyzes of subsequent, other fields of application of advanced technologies for the analysis of large data sets such as Medical Intelligence, Life Science, Green Energy, etc. Processing and multi-criteria analysis of large data sets in Big Data database systems is carried out according to V4 concepts, ie Volume (meaning a large number of data), Value (large values of certain parameters of the analyzed information), Velocity (high speed of new information) and Variety (high variety of information).
The advanced information processing and analysis technologies mentioned above are used more and more often for the needs of conducting predictive analyzes concerning, for example, marketing activities of various business entities that advertise their offer on the Internet or analyze the needs in this area reported by other entities, including companies, corporations, institutions financial and public. More and more commercial business entities and financial institutions conduct marketing activities on the Internet, including on social media portals.
More and more public institutions and business entities, including companies, banks and other entities, need to conduct multi-criteria analyzes on large data sets downloaded from the Internet describing the markets on which they operate, as well as contractors and clients with whom they cooperate.
On the other hand, there are already specialized technology companies that offer this type of analytical services, including offering predictive analysis services, develop custom reports, which are the result of multicriteria analyzes of large data sets obtained from various websites and from entries and comments. contained on social media portals based on sentiment analyzes of the content of entries in the comments of Internet users.
Do you agree with my opinion on this matter?
In view of the above, I am asking you the following question:
How can you improve the process of predictive analysis?
