What's the best bait for butterfly traps?

I know about rotting fruit, mammal dung and rotten fish or meat, but I don't know which one is the most efficient.

Collect or release when sampling species for identification?

When sampling, for example, butterflies from fruit-baited traps, is it better to release butterflies as to not decrease local populations or should they be collected? Once collected we then have the opportunity to check identifications as many times as needed and avoid double counting of the same individuals?

According to this article, the number of Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) wintering in Mexico plunged this year to its lowest level since studies began in 1993, leading experts to announce Wednesday that the insects’ annual migration from the United States and Canada is in danger of disappearing.

A study (cited below) released by the World Wildlife Fund, Mexico’s Environment Department and the Natural Protected Areas Commission blames the displacement of the milkweed the species feeds on by genetically modified crops and urban sprawl in the United States, as well as the dramatic reduction of the butterflies’ habitat in Mexico due to illegal logging of the trees they depend on for shelter.

What can be done about this?

How can I keep butterfly traps safe from monkeys?

I am going to be in Costa Rica and I wanted to put butterfly traps with rotting fruit as bait. But I've been told there are quite a lot of monkeys with stealing tendencies.

Even if I put other bait (dung, rotten fish... although I guess the atracted butterflies will be different), I am scared they'll steal mess with the traps or break them. Do you now any method to keep them away?

Could anyone of you please tell me how to connect these ideas to reveal the status of urban butterflies?

From January 2014 to December 2016, I conducted monthly field trips in three different areas of Dhaka city, Bangladesh to investigate how butterflies survive in an inner-city habitat. I have found that the species richness (I did not count the species abundance) is declining with time.

Presently, I have:

* monthly species-specific data of three continuous years (36 continuous months) of the three different areas

* Four environmental variables (temperature, rainfall, humidity and sunshine hours)

* Pollution level

* IUCN Red List status

* Land-use analysis of these three different areas

Now, I am really confused considering the proper way to link these pieces of information! Could anyone of you please share some ideas?

Can you suggest some research references about butterfly host plants diversity?

I've been collecting & planting seeds of butterfly host plants for the restoration program. And I need research references especially for tropical Southeast Asia native species (include all types of herbs, bush, or shrubs). I looking forward to having some recommendations from botanical experts.

When I observed various species, alfa and beta diversity of fauna (insects) is much influenced by ecological aspects. How does resource partition occur in Butterflies? Do you have evidence? Please send some literature.

Does anyone know something about Brimstones (Gonepteryx rhamni) mating in the summer?

The image was taken on June 21, 2020 in Hungary. To my knowledge, Brimstones mate in the spring after overwintering, not in the summer after they emerge from their pupae, but these two specimens have disproved all of my previous observations. May and most of June were colder than avarage in Hungary. Could that be the cause of this phenomenon? I couldn't find any information about this.
