... Bulbophyllum dasystachys was fi rst described from a cultivated specimen of unknown origin (Vermeulen et al., 2014) and was also known from a photograph taken in the wild in Thailand. A few years later it was recorded from Vietnam (Averyanov et al., 2017). We found it, without fl owers, in 2018 near Ta Tey Leu in Koh Kong Province, growing in a tree crown at 490 m elevation in evergreen forest. ...

Twenty-five new records of orchid species for Cambodia are reported, including nine new generic records for the genera Acanthophippium, Adenoncos, Didymoplexiella, Eria sensu stricto, Erythrodes, Phreatia, Pomatocalpa, Seidenfadenia and Thunia. There is a growing interest in orchids in Cambodia, which has led to substantial ex situ cultivation efforts. At the same time, better in situ protection is needed. Important habitats need to be identified, for which the methodology for the designation of Important Plant Areas would be suitable.

Plants of tropical dry forests (TDFs) are unique in nature as many species are not found anywhere else. TDF plants are also characterized by deciduousness, and some exclusive adaptation quality to cope with the long drought period. However, due to human influence, TDFs are deforested, fragmented and losing its valuable plants forever day by day. Having almost half the area of total tropical and subtropical forests, and most widely distributed tropical ecosystems, these forests are harbor of plenty of floras. In this communication, we have compiled (partially) the plant names of different TDFs throughout the five realms of the world for representing a synopsis at a glimpse. From the assembled data after literature review, 154 plant species are found under 69 families in Afrotropical realm where Fabaceae (14) is the dominating family. In Australasia realm, 199 species under 56 families are found and dominated by Moraceae (17). In Indo-Malayan realm, 325 species are counted under 80 families where Orchidaceae (69) is the dominating family. A total of 1369 species belonging to 121 families counted up in the Neotropical realm and the realm is dominated by Fabaceae (541). The Oceania realm is also dominated by Fabaceae (22) out of 58 families consisted of 161 species. Almost 97% of these species are now under at high risk.

However, this similarity has probably convergent character with no much evidence of certain relation between mentioned taxa. ...

Modern taxonomic revision of Bulbophyllum sect. Lemniscata in the flora of Vietnam based on available collections and literature data reports 5 species (Bulbophyllum averyanovii, B. chelicerum, B. comosum B. hirtum, and B. lemniscatoides), one of which (B. chelicerum) is described as a new for science. For all accepted taxa the paper provides valid name and main synonyms with appropriate standard taxonomic references, data on type and other authentic materials, description, data on ecology, phenology, expected conservation status, distribution, notes on biology and taxonomy, list of all studied materials, as well as key for identification of species and their color illustrations. Lectotype for B. lemniscatoides is proposed.

Vietnam is one of the hot spots of biodiversity, in regard to its orchid flora. During botanical explorations conducted from 2014 to 2017 in Hon Ba nature reserve, there were 19 species of Bulbophyllum found, belonging to 12 sections e.g. Stachysanthes, Hirtula, Macrostylida, Cirrhopetalum, Stenochilus, Brachyantha, Desmosanthes, Oxysepala, Macrocaulia, Acrochaene, Leopardinae and Polymeres. Most of them are epiphyte on tree trunks, lianas or branches, the others are lithophyte with or without bryophytes in open areas or along the stream. Almost all the records mentioned in this paper represent new locality records for Bulbophyllum species in Vietnamese territory, especially the species Bulbophyllum nematocaulon, which is a new record for the South of Vietnam. Some of these species from neighboring countries are also found in Vietnam e.g. Bulbophyllum dasystachys J.J. Verm. B. subtenellum Seidenf. and B. nematocaulon Ridl. Without a doubt there will be more Bulbophyllum species that will be found, and some possibly endemic, to be found in the less explored regions of Vietnam. More botanical surveys in future will surely increase the number species of Bulbophyllum, and also the number of Orchids found in Hon Ba. This paper presents an illustrated assessment, including an annotated list of the 19 species, discovered in Hon Ba nature reserve with their accepted names, main synonyms, data on distribution, ecology, phenology and illustrations. The annotated list of discovered Bulbophyllum species is presented below in a form of standard taxonomic treatment based on all available collections (herbarium specimens and alcohol fixed specimens) and taxonomic references

This paper presents new data on the orchid diversity of Vietnam obtained in 2015–2021. It contains descriptions of three new species (Cleisostoma furcatum, Malleola micrantha, Schoenorchis hungii), one new variety (Chiloschista parishii var. minutiflora) and one new form (Cleisostoma furcatum forma albiflora). Additionally six species, Ascocentropsis malipoensis, Chiloschista sweelimii, Pomatocalpa undulatum, Trachoma rhopalorrhachis, Trichoglottis maculata, and Uncifera acuminata are newly recorded for Vietnam. The paper also provides an amended description of a very rare and poorly known species, Cleisostoma equestre. All studied taxa belong to subtribe Aeridinae (tribe Vandeae, subfamily Epidendroideae). The accepted plant name, main synonyms, data on type specimens, ecology, phenology and distribution, estimated IUCN Red List status, studied specimens, brief taxonomic notes, and illustrations are provided for each species listed.

The paper provides a short review of Bulbophyllum species recorded in Laos and Vietnam during the two last decades and continues the publication of results of our successive studies of the genus in this area. It presents data on two new species for science discovered in Laos (Bulbophyllum pachypodum) and Vietnam (B. neglectipetalum), one lesser known species for the flora of Laos (B. microtepalum), two new records for the flora of Vietnam (B. echinulus, B. setilabium), and new illustrated data on B. secundum insufficiently known in the flora of Vietnam. Bulbophyllum fascinator earlier accepted in specific rank reduced into the synonymy of B. putidum on the base of studies of newly obtained materials. Taking into consideration the new data presented in this paper, the flora of Laos presently includes 85, and flora of Vietnam 151 Bulbophyllum species, excluding Monomeria, Trias, and Sunipia. It is the largest genus in the orchid floras of both countries.
