... Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) of the family Solanaceae and genus Capsicum is widely cultivated in China, primarily in Guizhou, Sichuan and Hunan provinces. The area planted with peppers accounts for the largest proportion of vegetable cultivation area in China at 8%-10% of the total vegetable cultivation area (Pereira et al., 2016).
