The mechanical properties of the extracellular matrix dictate tissue behaviour. In epithelial tissues, laminin is a very abundant extracellular matrix component and a key supporting element. Here we show that laminin hinders the mechanoresponses of breast epithelial cells by shielding the nucleus from mechanical deformation. Coating substrates with...

Azithromycin, a semi-synthetically important macrolide is well known for its wide applications as anti-microbials. This drug could act as both bacteriostatic and bactericidal depending on the dosage administered. Apart from its good activity in both Gram positive and Gram-negative micro-organisms, azithromycin was found to be sparingly soluble in w...

Staphyloccocus aureus causes wide range of infections from being mild to crucial problems. Azithromycin macrolide have been in use for many years solving the severity of these infections. But, aqueous insolubility and resistance developed is the question of focus. Considering the need for improvement of the drug properties, we used conventional clo...

Introduction: Certain aqueous insoluble drugs had shown remarkably good solubilization in lipophilic environment. Among such drugs: ramipril, azithromycin and fluconazole showed improved solubilization using essential oil based microemulsion drug delivery system. In this study, we focused on the toxicity profile of the drug delivery vehicle - cinna...

Question
Stock solutions of MEK/ERK inhibitor - PD0325901 and GSK3 inhibitor - CHIR99021 were prepared in DMSO and stored as aliquots in tightly sealed eppendorfs. For how long can these aliquots be stored in such sealed eppendorfs at -20C. I have had them for 6 months.
I am using them for murine ESC culturing in N2B27+2i media on gelatin coated plates. What are the signs to look for in the culture when the activity of these two inhibitors is sub-optimal ?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Question
Among the array of cytoskeletal remodelling processes that a cell undergoes, surface phenomena such as protrusion formation (during migration and phagocytosis) demand an intricate coordination between the various molecular players involved. The significance of protrusion formation in cohort cell migration can be placed in a higher league. Considering its decisive role and the plethora of molecular players regulating the protrusion dynamics, what are the various parameters (biological and non-biological) that determine a stable cell protrusion
Question
Senescence, defined as the arrest of growth of mammalian cells and prevents unlimited proliferation is of considerable interest in cancer treatment.
Question
Reverse transcriptase is found in retro virus whose genetic material is RNA and this enzyme is used to make a cDNA strand.
Question
Time staggered treatment of EGFR inhibitors and genotoxic drugs result in enhanced cancer cell death. Synergistic relation between the drug can be studied by varying the time gap between their administrations followed by assays for the quantification of pro apoptotic response(s) .
Question
These assays are used to test cytotoxicity and cytostatic activity
