Hello Maryann Farahani, how did it later go with your project? I have a similar topic as yours and am also struggling with the OPNET codding. Mine is more of admission control implementation on MANET. Can you give suggestion on the best way to go about the codding or can anyone in this forum with similar project or idea help.
Thanks.

Most of the API's and source codes are not available in OPNET academic version. Further I hear that Riverbed is going to pull the plug on the academic version licenses by jul / aug of this year.

Hi
For the first step, you may install OPNET. I suggest to install OPNET 14.5 on windows 7. The installation guide added will help.

It's Okay!
My suggestion is a book named "Unblocking the power of OPNET modeler". I think this is one of the best books I've read about OPNET. It'll be a good start.

Excuse me. I did not spelled the name correctly. The true one is: "Unlocking the power of OPNET modeler".

thanks , i read this PDF but it is not useful for me, in short, it is not in detail for programming.
Are you programing with opnet or are you know person who is programming with it?

Hi Maryam,
actually it always depends on the system you want to model. I do not have finished examples to help you, since I am working in extensions to Ethernet Powerlink right now and it is really complex, but you can find many examples to start with here:
These contain code for the network, the nodes and the processes, but also complete projects..
Hope it helps..

Is there a difference between Opnet C++ programming support in the different versions? For example, does the free academic version support full use of the API, or are some features hidden? My students get a lot of error messages.

In this paper, we address two important issues in OPNET-based modeling and simulation for range wireless communications. The first issue is to model the fading effect in wireless communications. The present OPNET wireless suite views all wireless channels as Gaussian channels and ignores the fading effect. We add a Rayleigh fading channel model to...
