The aim of the article is to present the spatial diversity of tourism in the countries of the European Union (EU). The main objective of the article can be divided into three immediate goals, each of which is to determine countries that are similar by means of: (1) accommodation base; (2) tourism traffic; and (3) tourism-related expenditures and re...

The usage of land for commercial purpose along the side of the road often causes conflicts. One of the areas in Badung Regency, namely along the road called Jalan Kayu Aya, is an attractive tourism area, the passageway is quite large, while on the other hand the effective width of the road is only 5 meters. The purpose of this study is to analyze t...

... Błażejczyk et al. (2021a) used the weather suitability index (WSI) to assess the suitability of the climate for outdoor tourism and recreation at several European locations, including Zlatibor. When it comes to Kopaonik, if we analyze the scientific works in the field of bioclimatology, back in 1961, Vujević (1961) investigates the equivalent temperature (ET) and cooling power (CP), while the works on the topic of climate influence on the tourism sector are more numerous (Anđelković et al. 2016;Stojsavljević et al. 2016;Pecelj et al. 2018;Pavlović et al. 2020;Lukić et al. 2021, etc.). Based on the review of previous research, there is an evident lack of studies investigating the outdoor thermophysiological comfort in Kopaonik. ...

The study aims to present reliable information about thermal conditions and their impacts on visitors to ski travel destinations. Mountain tourism areas are specific since high altitudes affect the ambient weather conditions which can affect different types of human activities. In this paper, the thermal comfort and its changes in Kopaonik Mountain, the most popular ski resort in Serbia over the last 30 years have been evaluated. Information about thermal comfort is presented by using and universal thermal climate index (UTCI), physiologically equivalent temperature (PET), and modified physiologically equivalent temperature (mPET) in three hours resolution for the period 1991-2020. The results indicate prevailing cold stress all year round. Days with moderate, strong, and very strong heat stress were not recorded. Strong and extreme cold stress prevailed during winter, while slight and moderate cold stress prevailed during summer. Transitional seasons were very cold, but autumn was more comfortable than spring. The occurrence of days with neutral and slightly warm/cool conditions is concentrated in the summer months. However, summer is not used enough for tourism because the choice of tourists to stay at Kopaonik is not primarily based on favorable bioclimatic conditions, but on resources for winter tourism. With global warming, the annual number of thermally favorable days has been increasing, while the number of days with extreme and strong cold stress is decreasing. Continuing this trend can significantly influence tourism in the future and therefore new strategies in ski resorts will be required to adapt to changing climate.
... Therefore, studying the influence of climate elements on various spheres of human activities and the environment has to be the field of interest for many different professions. Some studies on the influence of climate elements have already been initiated, such as: the effect of temperature and snow days on tourism movements (Stojsavljević et al., 2016); the impact of temperature and abundance of precipitation on the country's socio-economic development -the case of Kenya (Obaigwa Sagero et al., 2016); the influence of temperature, intensity of precipitation and wind speed on livestock development -the case of the Southwestern region (Havstad et al., 2018), etc. In terms of traffic planning, the most researched climate elements are precipitation and snow depth (Eisenberg, 2004;Bergel-Hayatet al., 2013;Theofilatos, Yannis, 2014). ...

This paper focuses on the highway corridor Belgrade-Novi Sad, Serbia and the relationship between the highway and surrounding nature, as an integral part of the spatial entity which the highway belongs to. The paper emphasizes a high importance of studying the physical-geographical factors in the process of highway construction in order to achieve high level of traffic safety. Particular attention was directed to climate elements - the factors that are not so visible, but still may pose a great risk to road safety. Data were taken from CARPATCLIM database and their evaluation was confirmed by the data obtained from CHEK-LISTS. It was found that the climate elements have a strong influence, but it can be successfully controlled by vegetation. Landscape design of both sides of the highway may offer a possibility of mitigating the influence of climate elements, which was also pointed out in the paper.
... The environmental resources that are the foundation for tourism/recreation are influenced by weather and climate which also affect the length and quality of tourism and recreation seasons, the health of tourists, and even the quality of tourism experiences (Scott et al., 2004;Katerusha and Matzarakis, 2015;Stojsavljević et al., 2016). Information about climate that is provided to tourists and tourism industry should include not only its general features (mean monthly and annual values of particular climate elements), but also detailed information about thermal comfort as well as aesthetic and physical weather factors (de Freitas, 2003). ...
... The climate of the investigated area is typical subalpine, with more than 2000 hours of sunshine per year, which makes it one of the most desirable tourist destinations in Serbia. This study presents the climatic and bioclimatic conditions at Zlatibor, as well as their modification and distribution over the year. Zlatibor Mountain is a popular tourist destination in Serbia, and it stands out as a mountain of exquisite natural and anthropogenic values. Information about climate and bioclimate is presented by using physiologically equivalent temperature (PET), and universal thermal climate index (UTCI) over 10-day periods. The Climate-Tourism/Transfer-Information-Scheme (CTIS) was also used as it displays climate and bioclimate information for tourism purposes based on thresholds of relevant parameters and the frequency of occurrence. The weather suitability index (WSI) was calculated as well, because it provides synthetic information about suitability of weather for different forms of recreational and tourism activities. The results obtained in this study were used to develop a bioclimatological leaflet for Zlatibor, which could be very useful to the tourism industry and stakeholders in decision-making, but also it will enable tourist to choose the best time for holiday depending on personal preferences and requirements.

Abstract In recent years, mountain tourism has gradually increased its position among tourists´ preferences at international level. The main reason is the strong relationship that man develops with nature and precisely with the mountain, becoming a destination of great tourist influx. An adequate use of these tourist flows results in the development of a sustainable activity, capable of contributing to the improvement of economic conditions in these areas. The objective of this research is to identify and analyse the indexed scientific production on "mountain tourism" in the international databases Scopus and Web of Science, in order to analyse in depth the current state of this area of study. The work methodology focuses on a bibliometric analysis of the 134 items identified by searching the term "Mountain Tourism". Prior to this analysis, the level of coverage and overlap of the information in both databases was analysed. The results show that Scopus performs a greater coverage of scientific production. In addition, the research is in its exponential growth stage, most researchers are small producers, only 19 have between two and three publications and the European continent is the most prolific in research on mountain tourism. Finally, note that, despite its long coverage over time, more than 40 years, it is an emerging area of study and there are many research lines that must be studied further. Key words: Mountain Tourism, Bibliometric, Scientific Production, databases.
