The optical design of a High-Power LED based Solar Simulator was made in order to reach the AM1.5G spectrum standards. An optical model of the light emitted by the LEDs was made and used for spectral intensities calculations and the light intensity uniformity was optimized. A class AAA solar simulator was designed using a hexagonal LED distribution...

We propose wedge type light guide plate (LGP) adopting twin inclined cylindrical surfaces (TICS) at the incident part of a LGP. It has higher optical efficiency than conventional wedge type LGP. In dimension of LGP which the thickness of incident part is 1.5 mm and that of luminance part is 0.7 mm, the optical efficiency of wedge type LGP adopting...

The model is developed that establishes the interrelation of the parameters for obtaining optimal characteristics of white LEDs in terms of light output and a necessary chromaticity of the LED with a specific chip. The results of the characteristics LEDs investigations with different estimation of phosphor thickness are presented.

We developed an improved algorithm for an indoor positioning system based on an image sensor. By using the algorithm that tilts the image sensor when it is placed at room corners, the authors reduced the positioning error at the corners and increased the effective positioning area. When in room corners, the image sensor is placed at an appropriate...

The concept of a high-luminance light source based on luminescent conversion of LED light and optical concentration in a transparent phosphor is explained. Experiments on a realized light source show that a luminous flux of 8500 lm and a luminance of 500 cd/mm² can be attained using 56 pump LEDs at 330 W electrical input power. The measurement resu...

... Measurements of Maximum Power Point (Pmpp) and their respective current-voltage (I-V) curve for each cell, were performed using a high-power LED-based solar simulator test bench [7], where the mean radiation is 1000 w/m2 . Cells were tested one by one under same conditions such as encapsulation material, thickness, radiation and time, among others. ...

This work presents an analysis about how the performance of silicon photovoltaic cells is influenced by the use of epoxy resin as encapsulation material with flat roughness. The effect of encapsulation on current at maximum power of mono-crystalline cell was tested indoor in a solar simulator bench at 1000 w/m² and AM1.5G. The results show that implementation of flat roughness layer onto cell surface reduces the maximum current inducing on average 2.7% less power with respect to a cell before any encapsulation. The losses of power and, in consequence, the less production of energy are explained by resin light absorption, reflection and partially neutralization of non-reflective coating.
