(The paper presents the first part of a publication summarising records of collections and first finds of some rare, less known, or hitherto probably overlooked ascomycetes in the Podyjí National Park in the years 2017–2021, dealing with species of the Leotiomycetes and Sordariomycetes groups. The ecological requirements of the mentioned taxa are discussed, and information from relevant literary and herbarium sources are compared with knowledge gained during the field research. For species with a rare occurrence in the Czech Republic, i.e. Encoelia glaberrima and Spathularia rufa, and also for species found more often but rarely documented, i.e. Sclerencoelia fraxinicola and Illosporiopsis christiansenii, overviews of exsiccates deposited in the main public and private herbaria in the Czech Republic are presented.)

The genus Erioscyphella Kirschst., which was morphologically confused with Lachnum, was herein examined. Based on molecular phylogenetic analyses using a combined dataset of ITS, LSU, mtSSU, and RPB2 and morphological examinations, Erioscyphella was distinguished from Lachnum and redefined by longer ascospores and the presence of apical amorphous materials and/or resinous materials equipped on hairs. Species boundaries recognized by morphology/ecology and phylogenetic analyses were cross-checked using species delimitation analyses based on DNA barcode sequences downloaded from UNITE, resulting in that species' taxonomic problems being uncovered. Six new species (E.boninensis, E.insulae, E.otanii, E.papillaris, E.paralushanensis, and E.sasibrevispora) and two new combinations (E.hainanensis and E.sinensis) were proposed.

Perrotia flammea is a colourful member of Lachnaceae (Helotiales, Ascomycetes). Despite its characteristic appearance, the last known collection from Slovakia was made at the beginning of the 20th century. In 2018–2020 several new collections have been found. Detailed description of these specimens follows the standards of vital taxonomy. Figures illustrating its typical xeric habitat, macro- and microscopic characters are presented.

The Lachnaceae include primarily ascomycetes with relatively tiny, scattered or gregarious apothecia with warted or in some parts smooth hairs of pale, less frequently reddish, olivaceous or brown colours (Rehm 1893, Suková 2005, Baral in Jaklitsch et al. 2016. The hairs or parts of hairs are densely or irregularly covered with warts which are sometimes enlarged and coloured, the colour and partly also the mass of warts being often soluble in potassium hydroxide (e.g. ...

Šandová M. (2018): On the identity of Lachnum winteri (Ascomycota, Helotiales). - Czech Mycol. 70(2): 169-183. Syntypes of Lachnum winteri (specimens of the exsiccatae collection Rehm, Ascomyceten, No. 113) deposited in the herbaria S, K and M were examined. The syntypes contain the same species with short-stalked apothecia possessing whitish, pale yellow to yellow, sparsely warted and apically attenuated hairs corresponding to the genus Albotricha. The species differs from A. albotestacea not only in the colour of the apothecia and frequent presence of whitish subicular hyphae at the base of the stalks, but also in the structure of the ectal excipulum. The thinner ectal excipulum cell walls are considered to be the main character distinguishing the species from A. albotestacea. The species is regarded to be a good member of the genus Albotricha, hence the new combination A. winteri is proposed. A lectotype is designated and a description, line drawing and photographs are presented. The concept of L. winteri introduced by J. Velenovský is also discussed.
... Baral (in Baral and Krieglsteiner 1985) distinguished C. rubi based on its smaller asci and ascospores, and C. fagiseda, which differs from C. bicolor by larger ascospores. DNA sequences of Capitotricha bicolor from Quercus, Fagus sylvatica, Alnus alnobetula, and Nothofagus, and C. rubi from Rubus idaeus were obtained from apothecia to establish whether specimens from different hosts belong to separate species. The obtained ITS1–5.8S–ITS2 rDNA sequences were examined with Bayesian and parsimony phylogenetic analyses. Intra- and interspecific variation was also investigated based on molecular distances in the ITS region. The phylogenetic analyses supported the specific distinctness of Capitotricha rubi and the Capitotricha from Nothofagus, but also suggest specific distinctness between samples from Quercus, Fagus, and Alnus. The interspecific distances were larger than intraspecific distances for all examined units. The smallest distance was found between the “Alnus alnobetula” and “Fagus sylvatica” units. Two new sequences of Brunnipila are published. Capitotricha, Lachnum, and Erioscyphella are compared to each other based on hair and excipulum characteristics. © 2017 German Mycological Society and Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany

Publications concerning the auricularioid and pycnidial basidiomycete Basidiopycnis hyalina and its anamorph are reviewed. The hyphomycetous anamorph of Basidiopycnis hyalina is considered identical with the recently proposed taxon Basidiopycnides albertensis. Study of a type specimen potentially related to this anamorph revealed a new synonym, Botryonipha dubia (≡ Stilbella dubia, ≡ Stilbum dubium) for the discomycete Neodasyscypha cerina. Basidiopycnis and its anamorph are excluded from the coelomycetes. Complementary data are presented for the phylogenetic relationship between the coelomycetous genus Chaetospermum and the teleomorphic genus Efibulobasidium of the Sebacinales. Re-examination of another recently described pycnidial basidiomycete with auricularioid basidia, Mycogelidium sinense, revealed that conidiophores of a coelomycetous sooty mould with relationship to the Capnodiales had been mistaken for basidia.

Suková M. (2006): A revision of selected material of lignicolous Lachnum species from the Czech Republic with a note on graminicolous material of the Lachnum pygmaeum complex. – Czech Mycol. 57(3–4): 183–219. Selected material of lignicolous species of the genus Lachnum from the Czech Republic was studied. Lachnum impudicum and Lachnum subvirgineum (nom. prov.) are published for the first time from the Czech Republic. These taxa were not distinguished in earlier Czech literature. Lachnum crataegi, Lachnum corylinum, Lachnum fasciculare, Lachnum fulvellum and Lachnum piceum are lectotypified here. Lachnum fulvellum is a synonym of Lachnum fasciculare, and Lachnum piceum of Lachnum pygmaeum. Lachnum impudicum as well as Lachnum corylinum are close (possibly synonyms) to Lachnum pubescens (type specimen of L. pubescens examined). Lachnum crataegi is close to Lachnum fasciculare. One specimen from authentic material of Lachnum grande is designated a lectotype and Lachnum grande is synonymised with Lachnum pygmaeum. Lachnum pygmaeum was found to be a variable taxon. In the studied set of material, lignicolous specimens of Lachnum pygmaeum show wider and somewhat more protruding paraphyses than non-lignicolous specimens. Lachnum rhizophilum seemed to be the earliest possible name for the non-lignicolous taxon (with asci arising from croziers). The type of Lachnum rhizophilum, however, is a fungus with asci arising from simple septa.

Leotiomycetes is regarded as the inoperculate class of discomycetes within the phylum Ascomycota. Taxa are mainly characterized by asci with a simple pore blueing in Melzer’s reagent, although some taxa have lost this character. The monophyly of this class has been verified in several recent molecular studies. However, circumscription of the orders, families and generic level delimitation are still unsettled. This paper provides a modified backbone tree for the class Leotiomycetes based on phylogenetic analysis of combined ITS, LSU, SSU, TEF, and RPB2 loci. In the phylogenetic analysis, Leotiomycetes separates into 19 clades, which can be recognized as orders and order-level clades. Leotiomycetes include 53 families (Ascodichaenaceae, Amicodiscaceae fam. nov., Amorphothecaceae, Arachnopezizaceae, Ascocorticiaceae, Calloriaceae, Cenangiaceae, Chaetomellaceae, Chlorociboriaceae, Chlorospleniaceae fam. nov., Bryoglossaceae fam. nov., Cochlearomycetaceae, Cordieritidaceae, Cyttariaceae, Deltopyxidaceae fam. nov., Dermateaceae, Discinellaceae fam. nov., Drepanopezizaceae, Erysiphaceae, Gelatinodiscaceae, Godroniaceae, Hamatocanthoscyphaceae fam. nov., Helicogoniaceae, Helotiaceae, Hemiphacidiaceae, Heterosphaeriaceae, Hyaloscyphaceae, Hydrocinaceae fam. nov., Hyphodiscaceae fam. nov., Lachnaceae, Lahmiaceae, Lauriomycetaceae, Leotiaceae, Leptodontidiaceae, Lichinodiaceae, Loramycetaceae, Marthamycetaceae, Medeolariaceae, Mitrulaceae, Mollisiaceae, Neocrinulaceae, Neolauriomycetaceae, Pezizellaceae, Phacidiaceae, Ploettnerulaceae, Rhytismataceae, Rutstroemiaceae, Sclerotiniaceae, Solenopeziaceae fam. nov., Thelebolaceae, Triblidiaceae, Tympanidaceae and Vibrisseaceae) and 14 family-level clades (Alatospora-Miniancora clade, Aquapoterium-Unguicularia clade, Bulgariella clade, Coleophoma-Parafabraea clade, Colipila clade, Corticifraga-Calloriopsis clade, Epicladonia-Epithamnolia clade, Flagellospora clade, Gelatinomyces clade, Micraspis clade, Patellariopsis clade, Phialocephala urceolata clade, Peltigeromyces clade and Trizodia clade). We briefly discuss the phylogenetic placements of these families and family-level clades. We provide an outline of the genera and the families of Leotiomycetes and a table summarising sexual morph characters of all the families/family-level clades of Leotiomycetes. Nine new families are introduced and we provide descriptions and illustrations of 50 Leotiomycetes taxa including six new genera and 22 new species, from collections made in China, Italy, Thailand, Russia, UK and Uzbekistan. Small scale phylogenetic analyses using concatenated datasets of five loci (rDNA, TEF and RBP2) are provided, where the backbone tree is insufficient to confirm the phylogenetic placement of our collections. This paper contributes to a more comprehensive update and improved identification of Leotiomycetes based on available literature and our collections.

Three new species of Incrucipulum were described from Japan: I. foliicola and I. pseudosulphurellum on Myrica gale subsp. tomentosa and I. hakonechloae-macrae on Hakonechloa macra. Disposition to Incrucipulum was justified by molecular phylogenetic analysis based on ITS-5.8S, LSU and RPB2 regions, and monophyly of Incrucipulum was also confirmed. Some apomorphic characters of Incrucipulum were identified. By addition of three new species, the genus Incrucipulum now contains 13 species.

Boubínský prales virgin forest is the best-preserved montane Picea-Fagus-Abies forest in the Czech Republic. Its core area (46.67 ha), grown with original montane forest never cut nor managed by foresters, has been protected since 1858. It represents the centre of the present-day nature reserve (685.87 ha). A detailed inventory of its fungal diversity was carried out in 2013–2014. Ten segments differing in habitat and naturalness were studied (235 ha). The total number of species was 659, with the centre of diversity in the core area (503 species) followed by the neighbouring segments grown by natural forests minimally influenced by man. When literature and herbarium data are added, the total diversity reaches a total of 792 taxa. The locality represents a unique refugium for some borealmontane fungi (e.g. Amylocystis lapponica, Laurilia sulcata, Pholiota subochracea), a high number of rare species preferring old-growth forests (Antrodia crassa, A. sitchensis, Baeospora myriadophylla, Chrysomphalina chrysophylla, Fomitopsis rosea, Ionomidotis irregularis, Junghuhnia collabens, Skeletocutis odora, S. stellae, Tatraea dumbirensis), wood-inhabiting and mycorrhizal fungi confined to Abies (Panellus violaceofulvus, Phellinus pouzarii, Pseudoplectania melaena, Lactarius albocarneus), and a high number of indicators of well-preserved Fagus forests (e.g. Climacodon septentrionalis, Flammulaster limulatus, Pholiota squarrosoides). Several very rare fungi are present, e.g. Chromosera cyanophylla, Cystoderma subvinaceum and Pseudorhizina sphaerospora. The value of the local mycobiota is further emphasised by the high number of protected and Red List species. Comparison with other Central European old-growth forests has confirmed that Boubínský prales is a mycological hotspot of European importance
