Questions related to Work-Life Balance
Conducting research and wanting to use Jeremy Hayman's work-life balance scale.
The shift to remote work has introduced unique challenges for IT workers, including isolation, stress, and difficulties in maintaining work-life balance. The effectiveness of Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) in addressing these challenges in a remote work setting is not well understood. There is a need to assess how EAPs affect the well-being and work-life balance of remote IT workers.
Hi everyone, I am currently looking for participants to answer a short survey on how your working patterns have affected you. All types of workers are welcome!
Thank you so much for your involvement,
Olivia
Dear colleagues, I am working on a research conference paper "Why isn't teaching popular anymore?" I invite education researchers from several countries (1 person from a country) to cooperate. At the moment I'm making up a questionnaire including the following sections: prestige / public perceptions; interest towards the profession / career aspirations; job security / safety; lack of teacher autonomy; stress and burnout; lack of trust; work-life balance / family commitment; career development / progress; salary; insufficient support; working conditions; student discipline and motivation; relationships with parents. Each section will involve 3-5 items. Anybody interested please contact me. Your contribution may range from a) writing / suggesting part of literature review; b) development of the questionnaire; c) applying the questionnaire in your country via social media and personal connections (I will need minimum 100 respondents from one country); d) any combination of the above. I plan to complete the research by the end of April, present it at IRCEELT conference (see www.ircelt.ibsu.edu.ge), then publish it, depending on the achieved quality, in the conference proceedings or a journal. If you believe that some of your colleagues might be interested, please share this information with him / her.
INTERNAL CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY MODEL TO INCREASE ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN MALAYSIAN PRIVATE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN KLANG VALLEY, MALAYSIA
Based on the above topic, what will be the internal validity and external validity? My IVs are the components of ICSR such as T&D, Safety & Health, workforce diversity, social dialogue, work-life balance, and work environment. DV is organizational performance and mediating variable is employee perception.
Thank you in advance
I am writing to you today about the educational experiences that Researcher.Life curate for researchers. We are in the process of creating a holistic training course for researchers specifically in Europe and have put together a survey to understand the needs and requirements of researchers better.
The course is meant to be most helpful for early-to-mid career researchers to help with finding work-life balance, emotional and stress management, self-improvement, and enhanced productivity.
It would be great if you could share your inputs and ask fellow researchers who are based in Europe, and who are in your network to fill out the survey, that will really help as well (to get their point of view). The survey should take no more than 3 minutes of your time.
Click here to take it https://lnkd.in/dRpVk9Ve
Thank you in advance for making time for this.

As an M.Sc. Nursing student, which tool will be appropriate and accessible for me to assess the workload, work-life balance, and affective commitment of nurses?
Hello network,
If you are a working professional, please consider taking part in this 2-minute survey.
Through this survey, I aim to measure the impact of flexible working arrangements on employees’ work-life balance and perceived organisational support in order to get insight on how these factors affect employees’ intention to stay within an organisation.
This survey is being conducted as part of my dissertation for my Master’s degree at Trinity College Dublin and it is completely voluntary and confidential.
Every response matters and it is much appreciated!

I am trying to compare working from home ( Independed variable 1) and working in an office( IV2) in terms of wellbeing, work-life balance and productivity (3 Dependent variables).
The study used repeated measures and the data was collected via questionnaire. On SPSS each of my variables are both part of the IV and the DV ( eg. variable 1= wellbeing levels when working from home).
To check for normality I did Kolmogrov Smirnov non parametric test ,however, my data resulted to not be normally distributed .
How would you suggest me to proceed from here? is there another way I can check for normality and maybe get a different result?
I would also like to compare the results of productivity, wellbeing and work-life balance in both working conditions in terms of gender, nationality and age of the participants to see whether working from home satisfaction varies across the population.
Would it be appropriate to run a MANOVA or would it be better to run an ANOVA?
All answers will be much appreciated,
thank you for reading!
Hello all,
I am a third year Human Resource Development student and I am currently writing my final year project.
I have done my research on work-life balance but my supervisor advised me to find more gaps in research regarding the work-life balance of male employees with relation to gender roles.
I hope there are some that could provide me with insights and advise.
Hi, my dissertation research was conducted using a questionnaire and it's all quantitative, there were no open answers on the questionnaire.
I used Likert scale for some of the questions and I want to analyse the results of these Likert scales to see if the answers given here are statistically significant. Is that possible? Or do I need to compare the Likert scale questions/answers with one of the previous answers/variables.
The research is focusing on the relationship between working mothers and work-life balance. Some of the questions included: "Being a working mother has made it difficult to balance work and home life." "Flexible working will help create work-family life balance." "Flexible working is a good solution for working mothers to balance work and family life." "I have enough time to look after my children and take some time to myself after work."
Is it possible to assess the statistical significance of these - and if so which test would I run? Or are these descriptive analytics?
I have used SPSS before but it's been a while, I've watched a lot of Youtube videos but I'm finding myself getting very overwhelmed with all the different tests and how to run them and interpret them.
Thank you.
I’m facing an interesting and challenging problem on how I should view the variables in my regression analysis. In short, my research questions revolve around if men and women from entrepreneurship education get the same pay and career progression or not. My three dependent variables are Income (scale), Position (in corporate hierarchy, 5-point ordinal) and the perceived work-life balance (5-point ordinal). My independent variables are occupation (employed, self-employed, etc., (categorical)), gender and post-education start-up experience (dummy, yes/no). Then I have a set of control variables: Country of residence, industry, family status, nr children, nr employments, pre-education startup experience and finally career length.
Here comes the problem. As I investigate my DV using linear regression, career length is very prominent and important for income and position, which is not that surprising given most people due progress in their career. But career length is also affecting both family status and nr children, which is also not surprising given that most people have started a family the longer their career are. But my sample is not equally distributed among career length due to increased class cohorts in recent years and that older alumni have been more difficult to connect with in the data collection. Should I therefore normalize/weight or in other ways transform my data so that the resulting models does take into consideration that some control variables are time-dependent as well? And/or should I do it due to that younger cohorts gets larger weights than their older peer’s? My ai is to extract gender and occupational differences, so career length “power” is somewhat clouding the analysis as of now.
Please suggest how I should proceed.
It is self-assessing questionnaire with 21 items..
Title: Investigating the influence of work-life balance on the quality of life and occupational stress of automation engineers
Could you please share good research papers and pieces of expert advice about the impact of work-life balance (WLB) on employee performance in organizations? Your kind and constructive support will be highly commendable.
Why many highly successful physicists like Ludwig Boltzmann, Paul Drude, Paul Ehrenfest, Arnold Berliner, Percy Williams Bridgman, Augustus Matthiessen took their own lives at the pinnacle of their careers? Was it because they did not learn to manage stress or there is some other bit of a mystery?
Do every research need to learning to manage stress as it can have life-saving consequences?
Can someone provide me an explanation as to why that is the dependent or independent variable?
Hi, I am a final year student at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid ( Spain), doing my final thesis about the working-life conditions in the Nordic Countries.
Especially, I am researching about the different types of statutory entitlement to leave. However, I haven´t found in any nordic country legislation about days off work to enjoy the honeymoon after marriage.
I was wondering if you could know or even pointing me out in the direction of someone with knowledge in those Nordic labour law questions. It would be extremely appreciated.
Students asked me for advice on how to deal with work-life balance during a lockdown. Some of them work and study from home. Do you have any helpful suggestions?
I found an article that suggests that participatory leadership can help. But I would like to give students some concrete ideas on how to prevent exhaustion when we work, learn and live in the same place. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi there! Maybe someone could help me. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where can I find the english version of the german: "Trierer Kurzskala zur Messung von Work-Life Balance" questionnaire, better known as TKS-WLB? Help and suggestions are very welcome!
Thanks!
Greetings, i am looking for a Work-Life Balance Scale but it seems that none is available, all i found was Work-Life Balance Scale by Hayman (2005) but the scales were not included in the published papers, i tried to look for and contact the author but nothing was appearing, the author's email was also included in some papers but the mails were just being sent back to me.
Does anyone have a work-life balance scale? If so, i am humbly asking for your help to obtain such scale, the scale will be used solely for the purpose of research and not for commercial purposes. We would also make sure to cite the authors properly. Thank you and have a good day.
Dear Experts,
Greetings!
Looking for your kind opinion and Ref regarding the following CB-SEM issues
Being a new user of AMOS, few of us are facing problem regarding a few specific questions...
Q1: In the model, if the latent variable has 2/3 sub-constructs and each of those sub-constructs have 3,4 and 2 items respectively then is it correct? ( As in many articles its mentioned the rule of thumb is to have minimum 3 items).
Q2: If any latent variable has 2 sub-constructs and during respecified SEM, one of the sub- construct's factor loading comes .50 should we keep that construct? If we need to take out then should we need to drop the variable?
Q3: During the respecified SEM model, if GFI, TLI, CFI, RMSEA met the threshold but p-value shows .000 then will we call that model as the good fit model or we need to make sure p is .05 and above ( Is Must).
Q4: For continuous moderator ( e.g. Work-Life Balance or Locus of Control), in case of latent construct do we need to have 2 models named constrained and unconstrained (Bryne, 2004). ( If this is the only process in AMOS can we have the steps)
Though its a quite long text but this gonna make analysis easy for new AMOS user, including myself😊
Any expert opinion and ref highly appreciated.
Thanks,

"Flexible work designs'' is my independent variable (9 items measured on a 5 point Likert scale from 1=strongly disagree to 5 = strongly agree)
"Employee well-being" is my dependent variable (3 sub-dimensions: engagement, exhaustion and work-life balance, all of them measured with 5 items on a 5-point Likert scale from 1=strongly disagree to 5= strongly agree)
Then I have two moderators: occupational status (1=supervisor, 2=support staff and 3=knowledge worker) and personal flexibility (measured with 9 items on a 5-point Likert scale from 1=strongly disagree to 5= strongly agree)
Which is the most appropriate analysis to do in SPSS?
Work and home
Physical and spiritual
Individual and family and community
Past, present and future selves

I have been working with my data set for and I hit a snag and I cannot figure out where the issue is.
I am analysing job satisfaction and expected my independent variables to have a positive relationship.
I have analysed my data and all of the assumptions are met for a l for the multiple regression analysis. The model is a moderate good fit , R2 = medium effect size
I have an issue with the coefficients.
The coefficients are all negative, even though I expected them to be positive. For example, this means that an increase in leader member exchange, or work-life balance - or organisational identity, job satisfaction decreases.
I'm not sure whether I can proceed with these findings, or where to start looking for this issue as I expected an increase in my independent variables would increase job satisfaction ?
Hello,
I am currently preparing a survey for my master's thesis that involves measuring aspects of employee organizational outcomes, including job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intentions. I have run into issues finding any trace of an official copy of the Turnover Intention Scale (TIS-6) from any published academic paper or source. For the purposes of my study I am specifically interested in the shortened version (six item scale) of the Turnover Intention Scale (not the original 15 item scale).
Every source I have checked has referenced Gert Roodt, 2004 as the original author and list of the TIS-6 questions. My search has shown this paper is unpublished, and I have had no luck in finding access to it or the TIS-6 questions.
If anyone has access to/ever used the official TIS-6 questions, or could point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. Every paper citing the Roodt 2004 paper mentions the TIS-6 but does not provide the questions from the survey (for example, the often cited "Bothma, C.F.C., & Roodt, G. (2013). The validation of the turnover intention scale" publication).
Thank you for your time and consideration!
work life balance: a situation in which the pressure from work and/ or family domains are mutually non compatible in some aspects.
I intend to work on work life balance (WLB) and work life conflict (WLC) for my final thesis. Is it wise to make your own questionnaire or use inventories of WLB, and conflict ?
I also want guidance in relation to how to go about it. If anybody could be generous to help this researcher in distress?
I am looking for any research on vision of own motherhood in young childless women (adolescence, emerging adulthood, early adulthood). I am interested how young women see their future motherhood and the way to become mother.
Important questions for me are:
1) When young women want to have first and last child?
2) How they want to prepare to being a mother?
3) What are their fears about being a mother?
4) How they expect to combine being a mother with other ares of their life (work, romantic relationship, hobby)?
5) What they are thinking about changes in relationship with husband/partner after delivery?
6) How they want to spend time with their children?
7) What they are thinking about their impact on the development of their child?
I need this to my PhD thesis.
Thank You for support!

Good day. I am a 4th year college student working on my thesis about work-life balance and its correlation to occupation stress and employee engagement and I need a valid and reliable instrument on work-life balance. The instruments I've seen in most of the related literature can't be found on the internet so I hope that you can help me. Thank you.
Does anyone have a scale or set of interview questions you have found successful in studying workplace wellbeing? in particular I am looking to examine wellbeing within higher education.

Balancing work and family life is a critical challenge in most countries of the world, and current social trends are making its integration more laborious.
Jobs are more complex, demanding, and globalized than ever before, requiring long hours, increased availability, and effort.
The aim is to bring Spanish working hours more in line with the rest of Europe.
More specifically, I'm trying to understand how the interaction of injunctive and descriptive social norms can help predict if employees will use work-family policies in their workplace. I'm looking for research regarding social norms, stigma (the flexibility stigma at work) and work-family balance. Any research related to those variables would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.
Can anyone help me to find more research articles about the relationship between perceived organizational support and work life balance ?
Pleaes guide us on now to measure work life balance in a manufacturing company.
Increasingly, companies in rather rural regions are having problems to attract and retain talents, as talents prefer living in cities or exciting regions.
The importance of location is obvious, but many times implied instead of the center of attention. I would like to analyse the importance of the workplace's location and identify cooperation opportunities for companies and regions between their Employer Branding and Place Branding.
Therefore, I ask for insights and suggestions on this topic and relevant literature.
Thank you.
I'm now writing an assignment about this topic, but I am confused about how to systematically categorize the barriers on healthy workplace (the employees' health and wellbeing). Because different cultures, sectors...even each individual is different, which leads to the difficulty of summarizing the barriers (generally???). Additionally, most research articles are focusing on some specific areas, such as stress or work-family conflict. And there are too many articles. Could you please provide me some clues about how to summarize them? Or have you ever read some useful articles that review the points clearly?
Also, if there is any practical approach or example of how to overcome the barriers, please tell me :)
Thank you so much
Most of the people do shift work. Shift work create host of other medical disorders. Many people over work. Some of them are burnout at work. Stressful life and employment. Many of these have a domino effect. It has impact on personal, societal, and at a population. Is the concept of work-life balance fading away? How can we restore to a normalcy in life? How can we maintain a work-life balance in one's own life?
I have adopted logit as I considered the variable to be binary and categorical, but I am still not totally convinced.
To study work life balance among women live with their husbands and separated women, I am planning to obtain ‘work life balance’ responses on a metric (1-5) scale. Which test (ANOVA, Chi Square, and Regression) can be applied to analyse the difference
ANOVA can be used when we obtain responses on a metric scale (1-5).
Chi Square test can be used when we obtain responses on a non-metric (e.g. satisfied and dissatisfied).
We investigate the matured workforce’ employment possibility from the point of view of the health by comparing relevant data of Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria. We used the method of correlation and regression (enter method) analysis to find the connection between the health/social contribution/benefit system related service data and employment.
In Austria the most important factors are social benefit (not unemployment, or housing or sickness related) 83.5%, the Death ischemic 96.2% diseases and the cancer 95.1% to the employment rate of older workers. In Czeh Republic and Hungary the employment rate of older workers could be explained by some kind of social expenditure, may be heritage of the previous political system, although in Czech Republic it results the highest rate of employment of this age group.
The Questions are: What could be the reason of Austrian data?
Way of life? Nutrition? Health service? Or something else?
What is the impact of work family strain and gain in the career growth of a professional women? Definitely, there will be strain and gain in work family / family-work.
The Impact (positive or negative) of Work-Life Balance of women employees (career growth) .
I am doing research on wellbeing, and I am trying to collect and analyze metrics related to many aspects of wellbeing: (as identified by the OECD) Housing, Income, Jobs, Community, Education, Environment, Civic Engagement, Health, Life Satisfaction, Safety, Work-Life Balance. I am looking for any and all metrics related to these categories.
Work life balance impact on women employees.
I am planning a cross-cultural study that includes developed and developing countries. My research questions deal with the effects of the provision of care for labour market participation. Typically, the provision of care is studied in developed countries using Esping-Andersen’s typology and in developing countries using variations of Evers et al (1994) or Razavi 2007 “care diamond”. The Esping-Andersen typology is a poor choice for developing countries but the concept of a care diamond could be an appropriate concept in both developed and developing countries. I am looking for advice about the feasibility of this approach. References on the subject would also be appreciated.
I would like to interview self-employed workers about their work-life balance in three countries: the Netherlands, Spain and Finland/ Sweden. What are the pitfalls of conducting interviews across countries? Can I conduct interviews in English? Should I work with a translator? Should I be aware of cultural differences?
Do you have any references which might help me become more clear about these issues?
I feel it is very difficult to manage time in research as it is non-ending job. As a researcher, one has number of responsibilities including time for self and family. It is not necessary that research output is proportional to the time you spend in research. I have seen numbers of researchers who work very hard, but their research output is not visible. Sometimes, we are so much involved in science that we forgot about our health. Health is another important issue, if you are tired you can not think much. I am asking this question to find out from other colleagues how they are managing their time. According to you, what is best way to manage time, in order to keep the balance of most of things in life? At end of day we have to live a happy life.
Is your role too demanding, which adversely affect time management? Are you satisfied with the attention and care you give to those whom you owe such a moral duty? Do you seek balance of work and life or you enjoy your work so much that you do not bother about your other needs of life? You may like to comment on some of these issues.
I am attaching a research paper on this issue.
In terms of preferences which three factors you value the most in order of preference: more salary & benefits, autonomy, good boss with leadership qualities; dignity; caring employer; conducive organizational culture; flexibility; chances of promotion; interesting work; job security; work-life balance; growth opportunities; fun and positivity at the workplace; or any other
Is it just me or are career researchers facing a dilemma? We love what we do so we stick to it. The disadvantages of course are permanent uncertainty over our future, and constantly writing grants to fund our employment, activities that take up valuable research time. Want a mortgage? "You've gotta be kidding, right? Your contract runs out at the end of the year!" Surely we deserve better!
UPDATE 28 Feb, 2014: The Global Young Academy has initiated an international study to better understand the “Global State of Young Scientists”.

I am interested to study the QWL of engineering college teaching faculties.
My colleagues and I ran panel discussions for science & engineering college major focused on balancing family with careers in science/engineering/computer science research. We have nice data two years in a row to show the outcomes in changed attitudes. Can someone suggest a good journal for a short paper? This was one activity in an undergraduate research program designed to attract more students to careers in science and engineering/computer science research.
