What is unidirectional flow in food industry and unidirectional flow in web development?
Relevant answer
Answer
I agree with Rana Hamza Shakil that an unidirectional data flow is a technique that is mainly found in functional reactive programming. It is also known as one-way data flow, which means the data has one, and only one way to be transferred to other parts of the application. Unidirectional flow means airflow moving in a single direction in a robust and uniform manner and at sufficient speed to reproducibly sweep particles away from the critical processing or testing area. Bidirectional and unidirectional dataflow refers to boundaries, domains, and direction data moves between services and views. Binding refers to a singular one-one-one relationship, while bidirectional and unidirectional refers to the relationship between components. A unidirectional down-flow of clean air ensures that only extremely clean air passes down over the process, protecting sensitive products and processes from airborne particulate. This means that the environment will be free from any particles shed from operatives, and any particles generated from the process. So the Data Flow that we are referring to in the term Unidirectional Data Flow is the flow of application data that goes from the component classes into the output DOM data structures generated by the rendering process, during the top to bottom rendering sweep of the component tree. Unidirectional data flow describes a one-way data flow where the data can move in only one pathway when being transferred between different parts of the program. React, a Javascript library, uses unidirectional data flow. The data from the parent is known as props. If the process is not followed correctly while rendering the data into the DOM, it leads to major issues like performance overhead and so on. This is why we need a unidirectional data flow mechanism, which ensures that the data is moving from top to bottom and that changes are propagated through the system. The flow of energy in the ecosystem is unidirectional because the energy lost as heat from the living organisms of a food chain cannot be reused by plants in photosynthesis. During the transfer of energy through successive trophic levels in an ecosystem, there is a loss of energy all along the path. The flow of energy in food chain in unidirectional because the sun is the only source of energy for all ecosystems on earth. Then the energy is captured by the autotrophs does not revert back to the sun. Therefore, in the food chain, the energy moves progressively through various trophic levels. A food chain outlines who eats whom. A food web is all of the food chains in an ecosystem. Each organism in an ecosystem occupies a specific trophic level or position in the food chain or web. Producers, who make their own food using photosynthesis or chemosynthesis, make up the bottom of the trophic pyramid.

i want to know what are the no of ways to perform optimization on the website(particular web application)
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi my dear friend,
I recommend you to visit this website https://gtmetrix.com/
1) Test some websites : for testing you just need to enter the URL in the field and wait till gtmetrix analyze it.
2) Read carefully the metrics that on which gtmetrix calculate the score.
3) some of them are client side and some others are server side.
for example for the client side by doing these you can optimize the speed of site:
1) minify css and js documents.
2) reduce the size of images ( tinypng.come is very useful)
3) use font icons instead of images
4) learn about css sprite or svg sprite for some types of images.
5) learn about sass and about flat css selectors.
6) try to solve problems with less code. (less is more!!) while coding a website.
7) Avoid css @import. (of course sass @import is not the problem).

The general idea is that you get used to a software and you stick with it.
I know by experience that PhpStorm and WebStorm are really powerful softwares, but they're not free.
When you need to user free software, for which I strongly suggest Sublime Text 3.
Another suggestion: always take in account to spend time to customize your programs, set a nice font, set a nice font size and different plug-ins.
I had a really bad experience with Dreamweaver, but I heard it changed a lot. Still, I prefer Sublime Text above all for its really powerful customization and performance.
Sublime Text (freeware)
In deep customization and overall really good performance. I can count on one hand how many times it crashed in years.
PhpStorm (paid)
Not a lot of experience with it, but really powerful and stable
Dreamweaver (paid)
It was a really "closed" software that used to correct your code and the performance was awful. I saw that it changed, never used since years.
Atom (free)
In deep customization but performance is quite bad, I wouldn't recommend it. Someone says it's better than Sublime, I guess it always relate to "you get used to a software and you stick with it" .

I'm really curious to know if someone has a reasonable argument to why one should avoid using a corporation run hosted web analytics provided as a service and instead run their own privately hosted open source web site analytics software like Piwik, or even write a specialized private self-developed analytics software, however unlikely and costly it may seem.
When it comes to website analytics, I use Google’s hosted service for analytics whenever I'm publishing an application developed for a client.
Mostly, I'm curious to read good arguments to why one should consider avoiding services like Google Analytics where another corporation collects and analyses data, even though usage agreements and privacy agreements state that the data will not be shared with third parties.

I am on Linux platform with MySQL NDB 5.7. I am trying to monitor all traffic related to MySQL clustering – between data nodes, management node and sql nodes. To that end, I used netstat to list all open ports listening on my machine before starting MySQL cluster. Then, I started MySQL cluster and ran netstat again. I assumed that the ports that were listening the second time around, but not the first time, were related to MySQL clustering.
But there are two problems with this. First, there could be ports opened by other processes between the two netstat runs. Second, MySQL might open other ports after I ran the netstat command the second time.
What is the best way to go about finding all ports being used by MySQL for clustering purposes?
I believe ephemeral ports are picked dynamically, so perhaps if I knew all the MySQL clustering related processes that would be running, I can figure out every port that they are using. Pointers will be very welcome.

Answer
Hi,
I'm not sure to fully understand your question, but it wonder if you are not mixing several concepts.
Indeed, unless a an application runs with root privileges, it cannot open or close a port itself. Ports can be opened or closed at the OS level, for instance using its firewall UI. In other words, MySQL (or any other app) doesn't need to run for its related ports being open or close. In fact, MySQL will not be able to run properly if the port(s) it uses are not open before it is launched. Thus, checking if ports are open or close will probably not be a solution for you. If I'm right (but again, I'm not sure to have fully understood your question), you need to check the traffic on the (open) ports. A right tool to do this is tcpdump. You'll find several examples around, for instance at http://superuser.com/questions/604998/monitor-tcp-traffic-on-specific-port
Hope this helps.

I have a real system for which I have built a simulation that can express its certain characteristics. This real system can be in very large amount of configurations which can also be represented within simulation environment. Evaluation of each configuration on real system takes couple of hours, where evaluation within simulation takes couple of minutes.
I developed an optimization algorithm which finds a Pareto set of configurations that minimize (maximize) several objectives.
To solve this, I have built a genetic algorithm which uses simulator to obtain a Pareto set that will further be evaluated on real system.
I am wondering what approach to take on evaluating such two-step optimization heuristic? Evaluating all candidates on real system is infeasible.
So far I have think of this:
- compare results with randomly selected configurations
- compare worst and best results to see if they are distant enough (e.g. in separated cluster)
Any thoughts?
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi Nikola,
It seems that you are addressing a multiobjective optimization problem with expensive evaluation by simulation. If you focus only on dealing with multiobjective optimization, you may consider comparing your algorithm with some well-known MOEAs such as MOEA/D and NSGA-III in terms of common metrics such as hypervolume and inverted generational distance (IGD). If you want to address both multiobjective optimization and expensive optimization, ParEGO and  MOEA/D-EGO might be candidates for the benchmark algorithms.

Hello Community,
I'm not very familiar with these kind of tasks and my web development skills could also be better. If anyone is familiar with how to get the source code of an external web site using jquery, javascript, ajax or whatever it would be very cool! :-)
The situation is as follows: I have a list of URLs that were built using a CMS. To the CMS, however, I have no access whatsoever. The previous task was to move all the images by Drag&Drop from an old destination to a new one. Since I'm sure that a lot of images were skipped, my idea was to search the source codes for each occurance of "<img" until a ">" appears. Then within each of these substrings I would search and test whether the new path is missing, and if so, I would list the image name and the page it appears on. That would facilitate the task of checking for forgotten images a big time. My idea was to obtain the source code of these URLs as a sting-variable and fill it into a text area within an html form. Then, once one site was completed, it would do the same for the next page, and so on. The problem with this method (php) is that it requires that the site is refreshed after loading each source code. Maybe some javascript method would be faster?!
I would also appreciate other, maybe less awkward ideas. Also if anyone could hint me to some code snippets I would be very happy.
thanks in advance,
Martin
Relevant answer
Answer
If you have a bunch of URLs and you have PHP, then a quick 10 line script will give a simple solution.
- Loop through the URLs
    - Use file_get_contents to read each webpage into a string (the scrape!)
    - Use preg_match_all to seek the tags within the string (pattern matching)
    - Display / log matches
- Continue loop
This may need to more "stuff/tweaking" depending on the scale of the problem (how many URLs have you to got to check?)

Are there software tools that help web developers to create metadata using schema.org vocabularies? do web developers need metadata training for creating those metadata?
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi, since the introduction in 2011 the adoption of schema.org seems to have been a little slow at the beginning (Homoceanu et al., 2014). However, the adoption of schema.org have increased probably because it was pushed by Yahoo!, Google, and Bing (later joined by Yandex), see Guha et al. 2016 and Paulheim, 2015. Guha et al. reported that 31.3% of their sample pages used Schema.org as markup, they say that a key driver for the adoption is the extensive support from third-party tools such as Drupal and Word-press extensions and support from vertical-specific content-management systems (such as Bandsintown and Ticketmaster).
One paper that describes the problem of implementing and the designing of website schema.org was written by Tort and Olivé. On the websites I have helped implement schema.org, scripts are used to generate the code using schema.org as a reference and parsers as extracting tools to verify it. Google, Yahoo! and others provide tools to verify the structured data on homepages.

Hello everyone,
We are developing a network based software project for a software project competition. Our project is building a social network for agricultural communities-farmers, employees, immigrant employees, people who trade of agricultural products-. We want to connect local communities with a global platform. Our vision is building sustainable future agriculture communities which have an important role to end poverty and to increase life standards of local communities.
We had initiated it as a multi-functional at the beginning. Main aspects as our imagination were including account authority; education section in order to empower and promote creative, critical thinking, innovation; trade section to communicate local agricultural business people; groups to increase technology-based interaction; resources and libraries for issues, troubles, researches and local/regional news feed according to choices. recommender systems might be used to recommend people as other social networks use.
We have been faced some trouble while building an effective UI. Does multifunctionality make the network less credible? Is there a good research on the social network behaviours of agricultural commuties?
I'd appreciate your thougts and recommendations.
Thanks.

Answer
Hello Zehra, I fully recommend you to focus on a function, you already have it "We want to connect local agricultural communities". why? They should know the best reasons for them to be connected. Once they are connected as an added value, you could then add new functionalities based on their needs, you can suggest them using requests and messuring traffic. Think about facebook, first of all they built a site to share pictures with friends and now it has a lot of additional functionality. Look at LinkedIn, their first aim was for users to have a CV on it and connect with collegues and oportunities, now it has many more functionality. Good luck on it. Regards, Alfonso

Can computers keep getting faster? and if we want to continue improving the qualities and the power of electronic devices, how are we going to do it?
i think generally Scientists expirment new materials and systems to achieve a better performance, so has the limit been reached? and do you think it will be?
Relevant answer
Answer
Currently we have reached some frontier where it is exceptionally "expensive" to increase the speed of the logic of a single core. This is the reason why microcontrollers resp microprocessors are currently not getting significantly faster but instead get multiple cores. And supercomputers consist of thousands of cores.
Regarding your original question: for an individual core we haven't yet reached the physical limit, but we are not far from that. But we have already found a way out: parallelism.
So: yes - "computers" can continue to get faster.

I am developing a web server for a purpose. I have my core programming stuff in perl language. So I want somehow, I can execute my perl console when user gives input from php and html interface.
I tried some php functions, which I got on web like exec and shell_exec. But these all found to be good for nothing. Sometimes I found some perl script got executed in browser only but failed to fulfill the need due to unavailability of supporting packages in browser.
So I want that perl script should be executed in its console not on web.
Please help me as soon as possible.
Thank you.
Relevant answer
Answer
use system function to run the perl script if in windows or wamp server.
system()- Execute command line
exec() - Execute an external program
passthru() - Execute an external program and display raw output
popen() - Opens process file pointer
escapeshellcmd() - Escape shell metacharacters
pcntl_exec() - Executes specified program in current process space
example
$str_pass="perl abc.pl ".$dir_name;
system($str_pass);

Many web hosting providers have a free tier or a free trial of their services so you can use their services for testing. Git repositories can be setup to automatically copy across your code to the web hosting provider through scripts associated with hooks.
If you do not wish to write your own scripts, you can use a service such as FortRabbit or PhpFog. Both providers have a free tier and support deployment through Git.

1. Does a highly available IT hardware Infrastructure with sound disaster recovery plans and redundancy, guarantee high availability on the software?
2. Is there a model for designing Highly available Enterprise Software end to end solutions?
Relevant answer
Answer
Yes, there are models for that but you need to realize that there are different threats and failure modes you might want to protect against. Things can get quite complex very quickly when you mix HA and FT.
In the simplest form, FT H/W can mitigate faults that are bounded to a single machine. RAID storage arrays can mitigate faults bound to physical media. Then HA clusters can address faults bounded to a comprehensive FT machine or a network.
Then you can get into hybrid models, using HA clusters of FT nodes. Ideally, you would want to do so with a heterogeneous OS, to avoid the case where running code hits a driver error causing a crash of Node A. If the same OS/App load is then restored on Node B it is possible for Node B to crash after executing the same instruction set.
If you would like to go one step further you can also add HA Geo units, which are geographically distributed to avoid data center failure. The complexity and investment are unbounded, so it really comes down to what s the cost of downtime and how much of an investment makes sense to prevent that service outage.
Hope that gives you a sense of the possibilities out there.

What should be the best combination of a robust language, its framework and an efficient and robust data base management tools. One of the opinion is python+Django+postgresql. Another one can be C# + .net + sql server but I am looking for such a solution with the help of which the web development can be done fast and efficiently.
Relevant answer
Answer
Depends. Perhaps you should rephrase your question, as there is no "best of all breeds" combination (if there were such a thing, you would not find the high number of different solutions as you do today).
Also, asking for "the best", you'll only get answers like "Java is the best" - "No, C++ rules", which are not helpful.
Questions to consider in your choice:
1. Are legacy systems / components / libraries involved?
2. Do you have budgetary constraints (i.e., does it have to be open source)?
3. Do you have a partnership with a commercial vendor or a policy, where a typical solution framework is preferred, or even mandatory?
4. Do you need a framework for academic purposes, or do you want to commercially develop software (i.e., academic "cleanness" of a framework, vs. "hands-on power" in real-life situations)
5. Which DBMS requirements do you have? Does it have to run on a separate machine? Does it need to support different users? Should it seamlessly integrate into an application? Do you need big data, transactions? Do you need SQL at all?
6. How important is a good IDE? Debugging tools?
7. Last, not least: Availability of people who are familiar with the system (perhaps including yourself) - this might rule out some interesting candidates (typically functional languages).
You see it's not that easy ;-)

NoSQL is a non-relational database. Traditionally web applications are based on rational database systems.
Relevant answer
Answer
Yes, in my opinion. NoSQL Databases are more efficient in i.e. knowledge representation. I have developed Association-Oriented Database (AODB) model and I used it during modeling Semantic Knowledge Base. It was very good approach to such problem. But it is not the only way of using another models then relational. It is important to remember Object-Relational Database (ORDB) model is still relational model. It is just a marketing cheat.

I think the difference is in the approach. Portlet is like a widget, it is not elemental part of a webpage/application. In Mashups [mash is synonym for mixture, hybrid] the emphasis is on the word: "different". It is a mixture of different API-s, different techniques, etc. Mashup can be a widget/portlet, or a whole website and of course, a porlet can also be a mashup.

What are the different cost estimation techniques used for approximating cost or efforts for developing web applications.
Relevant answer
Answer
Very good question, Mudasir. I happened to come over a European technical report with a questionnaire relating the developmental complexity of a Web project. From resulting metrics they could tell you, whether you should use a 'long' or 'short' lifecycle, another term for money spent, IIRC. The whole process was called e-minder. Maybe you can find this online, before I spot it in my papers.
