As the world becomes more complex and interconnected, the importance of systems thinking is rising, with engineering being no exception to this trend. Should we as engineering educators aim to teach and train our students in systems thinking from the get-go (first year, first semester), or should we wait for later years when they're acquired more discipline-specific (electrical, mechanical, etc.) knowledge and skills? In other words, is there value in teaching systems thinking to novices, even in a basic way?

I am having trouble searching for best software or site, platform which can help me create my own math exam questions ( undergraduate level), I don't want multiple choice type questions, in fact a platform where student can enter numerical and symbols and it does grading too but in a smart way, by this I mean, grading closer to instructor grading.

I have used the 12 Item version of the Community Attitudes to Mental Illness (CAMI) scale for my undergraduate dissertation. The scale uses Likert measurements where positive statements are scored

'1' Strongly agree = 100

'2' = Somewhat agree = 75

'3' = 'Neither agree not disagree' = 50

'4' = Somewhat disagree = 75

'5' = Strongly disagree = 0

However, there is also a 6th option of 'don't know' the original paper states those choosing this option are excluded from the total score. Do I need to code this 6th option in order to exclude it? I have tried the select cases function but its still including the 6th option in the total score. Very confused! Any advice will be greatly apprieciated.

I was taught that a curriculum developer must have conducted research for 10-15 years in the field or taught that discipline for over a decade to be qualified to review or develop its content.

Many private institutions in my country region and recently some public ones hire "multidisciplinary experts" with training in one discipline that has little or no relationships with the content of the course to be taught to teach undergraduate or graduate students

It is commonly noticed that non experts in fields are not only reading to teach but now develop the curriculum for those courses or disciplines.

Many years of teaching or conducting research avails the scientist of the teacher with the content to be taught or to be instructed for teaching.

I am currently working on my undergraduate dissertation project which uses the BFI scale to assess personality traits in students.

Would an expert in this field please be able to let me know if I am doing my scoring correctly (I am doing this manually without SPSS for now).

I have currently reversed the items as listed on the original BFI eg. Extraversion: 1, 6R, 11, 16, 21R, 26, 31R, 36.

I will then add these up for each participant eg. Extraversion: 5, 3, 4, 3, 4, 3, 4, 4 = 30

Is the next step to average this total?? eg. 30 / 8 = 3.75

A long time ago, scientific research was mysterious, recognized as the patent for Ph.D. candidates. However, with the development of society, scientific research is becoming more accessible and convenient. Nowadays, even undergraduates can participate in scientific research without any difficulty. There even present some specially designed programs to support undergraduates for their research. Such as the student research training program (SRTP). These activities help students develop their lab skills and critical thinking and make it possible for undergraduate students to find their future career direction. Apart from these advantages, there still existed some disadvantages. Firstly, the Ph.D. candidate, staff, and PI in the laboratory are generally busy, so it is hard to take time to guide students personally. Secondly, It is difficult for undergraduates to form their views on experiments or lab techniques because they have not thoroughly studied the theories of biology. Additionally, Due to the lack of fund support, it is nearly impossible for undergraduates to carry out research independently and finally make achievements. Last but not least, undergraduates participating in scientific research will increase the pressure of social competition, resulting in some dire consequences. What do you think of the current situation of Undergraduates' participation in scientific research?

I am currently working on an undergraduate thesis on interruptive smartphone push notifications' (banner-type) influence on online users' (weak) comprehension and (loss of) interest in online news. I found this thought to be a possible threat not only to the relevance of online news when competing with the rapid-growing attention economy but also, and more importantly, a threat to the purpose of journalism that is delivering the truth.

I think that qualitative surveys could possibly be applicable to my research questions (descriptively written above) however, I am unsure if it fits a grounded theory. If not, what could you possibly suggest?

One of the most major problems of writing an undergraduate article is the lack of access to a laboratory and a professor to check the accuracy of article information in the laboratory.

For example, at my university, only postgraduate, PhD and postdoctoral students are allowed to work in the laboratory. What should an undergraduate student do if he or she wants to write an article and extract the information needed for his or her paper from the lab?

Undergraduate students do not have access to professors and laboratories to verify their ideas, what should they do to write an article?

Can he write another type of article that is published in a valid journal but does not require laboratory information? Or can he collaborate with a foreign professor to write an article?

We are investigating the impact of online learning environment on sustained attention and student engagement among undergraduate students (Year 1-3).

We had the participants watch a lecture video and answer multiple choice questions related to the content of the video. We also had them fill an engagement questionnaire which had questions about their involvement with peers and various university related activities.

Hypothesis I - 1st year students are able to focus more over a long period of time than 2nd and 3rd year students.

Hypothesis II - 1st year students actively participate and are more engaged with peers than 2nd and 3rd year students.

My questions are:

1. What statistical test would be most appropriate?

2. How do I set a value to prove significance...for example they had 13 MCQ questions, how do I know what number of questions they need to have answered correctly in order to say they paid more attention?

I'm very lost, i'd appreciate your help and any remarks that could provide me some clarity.
