I am trying to build a mobility module using SUMO for my VANET work and I don't fully understand the following terms.
Are Traffic Density (Vehicle/Km) and Traffic Flow (vehicle/km/hour) values only valid for a single 1Km lane and when there is a multiple lane 1Km road, it must be multiplied by the total number of lanes in the 1Km road?
For example, if I selected the Traffic Density to be 40 vehicles/km and I have a 1Km two-way road with 3 lanes on each side, the actual Traffic Density will 40*6 vehicle/km?

Below is my intended objective using B&R automation studio.
(1)After system start-up, the initial status is :north-south direction red,east-west
direction, green;
( 2) A certain direction red light holds for 30s,and another direction green light only for
25s.When the green light times out, the yellow light is on for 5s,and then two of the direction’s light exchange, repeats itself ;
(3)When emergency condition, the sequence chart is t0, No matter the status of the traffic light, forced green light to the direction of the Vehicles ,the other is then red ;
(4)When emergency released, the sequence chart is t1,forced yellow light 5s to the direction of the Vehicles(t1~t1+5),and then change to red light. After that, Traffic light Controlled is normal

Dear All,
I’m planning to conduct a traffic count in the coming days for selected route near my university in Budapest. Currently, I'm attempting to identify the rush hour time along the route. Accordingly, I'm trying to use an approach based on real time information other than the traditional method. Underneath, please see the steps I took so far and kindly share your helpful thoughts:-
  1. I checked the tomtom previous rush hours profiles (2021, 2020 and 2019) for Budapest, which suggests the overall city rush hour to occur on Monday between 7:00 to 8:00A.M.; however, this may not be the reality in the particular route I’m considering in 2022. Therefore, I checked the Traffic Stats function of the TomTom Portal, which offers very limited dates in 2021 for the trial version and information on the speed profile couldn’t help in identifying the rush hour in the route. Therefore, please kindly share your thoughts in identifying the rush hour a selected route?
  2. Aside from the traditional approach, if you can suggest any other reliable method on the subject, that would be greatly appreciated.

The consumption of illicit drugs has increased over years in the Mauritian population, and it is affecting the population at large, cutting across all age groups and classes, in particular touching the youngsters; presently there is 40% of youngsters aged between 15 and 25 years who consume synthetic drugs in Mauritius (L’Express, 2018). This phenomenon leads to a massive impact to social harm, health issues and economic complications.
The article of Dr. T. Ibrahim and Dr. S. Peerally 2019 sheds light on public health measures that is helpful in tackling the current problem of illicit drug use in the island of Mauritius.
An increase in statistical figures year after year in Mauritius is causing chaos in the population. First, it took me more than 5 minutes to find the paper you refer to by Dr. T. Ibrahim. I find this annoying, but it also doesn't help the scientific processes very much.
This is how you should cite a paper:

Hi,
Are there proven and emerging technologies for obtaining road network level:
a) motorcyclist traffic volumes (counts)
b) their speeds,
c) motorcycle classification (from light moped to heavy touring bike)?
We have automatic tube counters which can satisfy the first two needs. These are expensive and cumbersome to use on road network scale. Digital video combined with computer vision is emerging quickly and would meet all three needs. The cost is prohibitive.
What other sources and technologies could do a good job and be cost-effective? What is used in your jurisdiction?

As to my understanding motorcycle is among the key transportation modes in developing countries. For dealing with traffic complications the authorities do not have a magic wand in their hands. But there is always a possibility of improvement. The proper sign posts, zebra crossing, footpaths, subways and signals are the tools which can be used to transmute commotion into a smooth and effective mobility. We need to take appropriate traffic management measures after trying out their effects. In order to curb the jeopardy of mishaps caused by the maladministration of traffic we need to contemplate abysmally to this nuisance. Due to obliviousness of the rubrics, rowdiness, desertion and waywardness, the roads are wrenching into muddle. The authorities are wedged in torpidity and have no intimation of how to make traffic more affable. Hardly any zebra crossings are visible in Srinagar city. There are no passable parking facilities. The authorities are decreeing conceitedly that considerable challans are imposed on daily basis. Challans will only result in proliferation of corruption. It is noticed that the tippers, tata mobiles and other commercial vehicles are driven by minors who do not have any inkling what gaffes they can do on the roads. Rash driving and racing between the commercial vehicles are the causes of accidents. The traffic authorities only know how to do challans, they only punish the drivers who are possessing incomplete documents. They do not prevent the drivers from pledging mistakes on the roads. How many drivers have been penalized for rash driving? Another cause of accidents in Srinagar is teenage bike riders, who are endangering their lives for the sake of stunts that they perform in the cold weather imitating aerobatics. Bikes should have been proscribed in winters in Srinagar a long back, at least for the months of December and January. Another hazard is overloading in commercial vehicles. This has been going on for decades and no one is taking a heed. We have seen passengers boarding and getting down from the commercial vehicles in the middle of the roads. Accidents happen due to the indiscipline created by the commercial vehicle drivers. These drivers know the traffic rules but deliberately break them. In such cases impounding of driver licence for 15 days or 20 days is recommended. The monetary penalty need to be revoked as it only increases corruption. There need to be some firm guidelines for acquiring commercial licence.
The number of vehicles plying on the Srinagar roads has increased to manifold but the roads are the same. So there is a necessity of splaying all the city roads. Foreshortening the density of traffic through hectic plugs is need of the hour, specifically during peak hours. Increasing the number of flyovers and subways will also make the proper traffic flow on the roads. We need to increase the infrastructure facilities for smooth flow of traffic. The train connectivity like metro train should be introduced in the city. One ways should be made the norm throughout. Waterways should be used to conveyance and transport of the goods wherever possible. Traffic police should be deployed at schools and colleges during the peak hours. The commercial drivers need to be educated about their negligence. Shifting of education institutes and government offices to the suburbs is a virtuous alternative.

I am Yvon françois TSOLEFACK engineer in electrical and energy engineering of Cameroonian nationality, and promoter of a positive energy road project for Africa, and more particularly in Burkina Faso (pilot country for the experimentation of the project), project which has earned me to won a few brawls and rewards at the end of certain national and international challenges and innovation competitions in energy. I had to consult (carry out a bibliographic review) several works already carried out in the field, via certain open research thesis platforms, which were very interesting. A great thank to all researchers amongs all of you in the field who kindly accept to share their work with me. However, I would also like to do a thesis in co-supervision between the doctoral school of the 2iE institute in Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, and a suitable school / university which has the expertise in the experimentation of positive energy road technologies. My project (my desired theme) consists of designing a thermo-piezoelectric block capable of simultaneously exploiting the mechanical stresses of road traffic, and the heat stored by the roadways, to produce electricity. It will therefore be a question of carrying out modeling and simulation work in order to determine the optimal structure of the block according to road traffic, vehicle weight, sunshine (temperature profile, humidity, etc.), depending on the context, etc. In short, I would like to have advice from you (the researchers community) regarding the best adapted and advanced doctoral school laboratories in these positive energy road technologies, through which I could carry out my research, in collaboration with the doctoral school of the 2iE institute in Ouagadougou.

I'm doing a safety study on Malaysian Expressways (E1, E2, & E8) so, I need traffic volume data of the North-South Expressway (E1, E2) and East Coast Expressway (E8) includes, Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) and Average Daily Traffic (AADT) of heavy vehicles for at least one year such as 2016, 2017, or 2018.

Your question is not highly dependent and specific on wifi. It seems more important to think in terms of network traffic.
If the WiFi hub considered serves a home, you need to build scenarios:
-family members: children, parents, flat sharing people
-working hours: if working from home, how many videoconferencing sessions ,average duration, data upload and download between home location and organisation VPN
-outside of working hours: sessions of gaming, movies ("Netflix" or equivalent, movie of 120 minutes or more etc), music streaming. Browsing, YouTube, etc...
You may run a number of differently populated scenarios to explore and understand...
This may show you the limit of WiFi and take you into fine access...

I am a co-author of the revised CRTN published in1988. It is still regarded as the UK National method for calculating the impact of noise from road traffic in the UK. Although it is an empirically based model based on traffic noise from the 1970's the failure of the UN vehicle noise regulations in controlling the noise from vehicles in the real world has maintain CRTN to be still relevant today. However the introduction of electric vehicles over the next decade will have a significant impact on the accuracy of CRTN particularly at low speeds.

This will depend on the type of intersection. If you have a roundabout, the image will be more dense near the roundabout where the congestion is high. Using ArGis you can colour depending on the intensity and thus getting the hot spots of traffic jam.

The Poisson's ratio of soil is quite difficult for us geo-engineers to obtain. I came across a problem when I tried to determine the parameters in a FEM model.
For the saturated clay in undrained condition, the poisson's ratio is seen as 0.45-0.50. But when analysising the field vibration induced by traffic transmit, the soil is simplified as a linear elastic body. So we could calculate it with K0, which is usually given in the investigation report. The calculating result is usually smaller than 0.45.
I think different poisson's ratio would have an impact on the strains in lateral directions. Was there any person knowing the effect or studying on this? Thanks a lot.

I think that you are right when you say that Poisson's ratio has little effect on the vibration characteristics of the soil under stationary dynamics. Poisson's ratio affects the analysis of transverse deformations.

Hello everyone, hope you are doing well. I made a simple traffic actuated control logic using VisVAP and it's working fine. now I wanted to add function such when vehicle is detected the pedestrian signal shall turn to green flashing and after 10 seconds, pedestrian stage shall change to vehicular stage. There is function that can set pedestrian signal to green flashing but logic is not changing to stage transition after green start flashing or sometimes even skip green flashing and change to vehicular stage.
Stage 1 is for Vehicle
Stage 2 is for Ped

I suspect that the answer is "no" - as far as I could determine, there are quite a few tools available, but they are all quite expensive, and not open-source. Different software excels at different aspects (yard operations versus optimal mainline traffic timetables, for example). RTC (Rail Traffic Controller) and OpenTrack are two of many examples out there (google it), and I recall that in Europe RailSys was used often. You may find this article useful ( )
Having said that, I recall reading about PULSim ( ) - it seemed open-soure to an extent, maybe that works for you?

Transportation problems (like congestion) don't always have transportation solutions. Congestion is often a function of poor land use decisions. In the early 1900s, streets in major cities were very congested. Planners believed that spreading development out, at lower densities, would alleviate this problem. And, while the street in the middle of a dense city will inevitably be more congested than a rural street, the highest levels of congestion are often found in suburban areas where discontinuous, low-density, single-use development make walking, cycling and transit difficult (if not impossible). In these places, an automobile is required for almost every activity outside the home. And cars take up enormous amounts of space when parked and even more when in motion.
Discontinuous, low-density, single-use development (urban sprawl) is the result of several key factors:
* Zoning and other land development regulations (land use planning)
* Economic incentives (embedded in both taxes and fees)
* Infrastructure investment decisions (infrastructure planning & budgeting)
* Racial bigotry and fear of integrated schools
Better planning could resolve some, but not all of these issues. In terms of economic incentives, distance- and congestion-based roadway user fees, performance-based parking fees, and replacing the traditional property tax with land value return fees would be helpful policies. I need a simulator for generating data traffic (the time, location, speed of the agents on a map) with the following requirement:
1-It should be agent-based.

Given the parameters CC0 to CC9, are driving behaviors (i.e. ABX, SDXv, CLDV, etc.) assigned from random distributions surrounding the input values of those parameters? Or are the behaviors directly derived from the parameters with no random variation between drivers? I'd hope VISSIM would do the former, but I'm new to this and don't fully understand much. I do know that desired speed and max/min accelerations are randomly assigned, but those aren't based on "parameters" in the same way that min. follow distance and speed oscillations are. I did read the original Wiedemann (1974) notes, and his original model clearly assigns driving behaviors randomly, but it isn't so clear for the modern VISSIM implementations. Any help would be appreciated!
