The quality of former distance education models is the prototype of e-learning development; besides excellent teaching materials to master the basic facts of a subject via a rigorous (self-) testing system (now possible with automatic repetition), communication of the learner with a good teacher and a small learning group is essential. The main danger of e-learning and remote work is social isolation, which depends on environmental factors, e.g. place of living, single or not, with family or not, quality of the apartment, etc.

What are the determinants of the development of vocational education, training of people working professionally and e-learning?
In my opinion, education, including adult education, university and vocational training, will develop mainly due to the fact that the economies of individual countries are changing faster and changing, the structure and meaning of particular sectors, branches and fields of activity in national economies, in In highly developed countries, industrial branches of the economy are transferred to countries with lower labor costs, in developed countries information, IT and ICT technologies are intensively developing, as well as Internet information services, etc.
As a result, labor markets are changing, new branches of services are emerging, new vocational professions are created in the field of Internet information services and advanced data processing in information systems.
People are increasingly changing their jobs and profession. A small part of the society throughout their lives work in one company, in one profession, in one area of the host activity, in one profession. People are increasingly moving towards faster and faster changing national economies, changing jobs, businesses, cities, etc.
Therefore, people have to retrain and become more and more educated. Increasingly, adults use training and post-graduate studies to obtain a new profession, a new profession and a new interesting job.
On the other hand, universities and schools of continuing education and vocational education adapt their educational offers to the changing labor market, to the changing demand of employees employed in specific companies, at specific positions. Universities and schools, observing the rapid development of Internet information services, create study and training offers conducted via the Internet in the e-learning system. It is a convenient form of training for people primarily adults, working and often living outside a large urban agglomeration, in another city, town, village, etc., than a university city.
Do you agree with my opinion?
In view of the above, I am asking you the following question:
What are the determinants of the development of vocational education, training of people working professionally and e-learning?

Due to the pandemic crisis, institutions opted for an unplanned online teaching for the safety of its students.
While some believe that emergency remote teaching is as effective as other types of online teaching, others argue that this unplanned procedure diminished the effectiveness of distance learning and would hardly lead to ultimate success.
Relevant answer
Answer
In my opinion for emergency remote teaching no body makes a plan as it happens suddenly and meanwhile we have to plan for its execution, later on we see its implications and effectiveness. While in case of online teaching, institutes prepare a plan for teaching learning process as has been observed through virtual classes arranged by several Higher educational institutes.

I have read that heutagogy is a theory about learning. I see it more as a methodological approach, or a discipline (if we are to make a parallel with pedagogy and andragogy). Could someone kindly explain what makes Heutagogy a learning theory (if it is)? If it is not a theory, what theories of learning could Heutagogy fit with? Thank you in advance.

Hi
I am working on a paper answering this question .
Understanding learning as emergent phenomena is the implicit premise of heutagogy .Heutagogy describe learning as biological phenomena , a sign that differentiate the living system from machine system .
Learning is intrinsic capacity of organism to recognize signs\signals and transform it into action , response .This semiotic process is the essence of heutagogy as it is intrinsic \self-reference , no need for others to function . it need just internal or external perturbations as trigger for starting learning .Heutagogy is a sign of life which is best described as autopoeisis and adaptive semiosis . Heutagogy is education application of complexity science , system thinking and Autopoiesis as described by Chilean biologists Humberto Maturana and Francisco Varela .

I am chairing a special session at The Eleventh International Conference on Emerging Security Information, Systems, and Technologies (SECURWARE 2017). The special session will focus on Secure Software Development (SSD). The conference will take place in Rome from September 10th to the 14th.
Secure software development is the process involving people and practices that ensure application Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Non-Repudiation, and Authentication (CIANA). Secure software is the result of a security aware software development processes, where CIANA is established when an application is first developed. Current Secure Software Development LifeCycles (SSDLC) are just old Software Development LifeCycles (SDLC) with a security training pre-pended before the traditional development steps, and an incident response process appended to the end of the lifecycle. To solve application cyber-security issues, one needs to develop the models, tools, architectures, and algorithms that support CIANA on the first day of a development project.
SECURWARE is a terrific cyber-security conference and community to become associated with. Please let me know if you have colleagues or students who would be interested in submitting. Because this is a special session, I can take submission up until August 2nd. The late submission date makes it an ideal place for the dissemination of the results from your Summer research projects

self-contained classroom or open-space classroom
Relevant answer
Answer
What do you mean by self-contained?  In New York state, and probably elsewhere, the term self-contained refers to students in special education settings that must be in specialized classes, with like students, away from the general education population, due to the severity of their disability/ies.  From the context of your question, I'm assuming that you are using the term self-contained to mean a classroom with walls and a door, rather than an open floor plan.
I'll speak from my own experience.  I work in a k-8 school that was built during the 'open school' fad mania of the 60s.  It is simply an awful set up.  Over the years, walls have been built up to keep the classrooms separate and the noise level at a reasonable volume, but due to lack of infrastructure commitment from the district, open classroom still exist in grades 3-5.  It is a horrible set up for the students.  It is especially awful for students with attention issues and difficult for teachers that have students that bolt.  I say for k-8, it's simply a horrible, horrible set up.

contemporary techniques or innovations in teaching agricultural science at secondary school level
Relevant answer
Answer
Hello John,
The teaching of Agriculture in secondary schools should utilize basic but result-oriented strategies. However, to heighten innovation in the instructional delivery, variety is key. Therefore, the agriculture tutor must diversify the instructional methods s/he uses in teaching.
Simulation is one of the innovative teaching strategies that can be used for teaching practical oriented topics such as the use and management of agricultural tools and technologies for crop farming, soil preparation and so forth. Models or mock-ups of moving and operating machinery are given to learners to operate, fix and even maintain as they would eventually do in the real world. Today, simulated videos and slides such as Ghetto Game, Gold Rush, that mimics aspects of life such as new planting or farming initiatives are used in giving out instruction. This can be adopted and utilized.
Field trips to agricultural centers, industries, farmlands etc., where students get firsthand experience and practice of the theoretical methods of agriculture can prove very helpful. However, it must be carefully planned with students knowing prior the practical activities they would be engaging in when they visit those places. Assignments, write-ups, and projects must be given to students to aid them to participate effectively in the field trips.
In addition, the discovery method of instructional delivery is also innovative. The instructor can expose learners to a situation existing in a farmland or agricultural site and asks them to discover the underlying principles that explain the situation and how the challenges identified there could be remedied. The students learn the effective agricultural methods, chemicals, technologies through discovery.
Moreover, project-based learning approaches whereby individuals and teams are assigned projects in agriculture can prove very helpful. The tutor must also focus on teaching the concepts in the agriculture topics rather than facts since agriculture as a subject is with us.
All the best. Thanks.

Much has been written on the use of Monitoring and Evaluation in the field of Development Studies. However it is clear from publications such as the Smithsonian's Design and Social Impact (2013: 24) that the value and impact of design is one of the largest gaps in social design methodologies. With a particular interest on highly marginalised contexts, I am interested to know how other designers use tools or metrics in order to "measure" the value and impact of their design interventions through a range of technology- or human-centred approaches.
Relevant answer
Answer
Social impact is a complicated abstract term - there is clear-cut definition neither for the term nor for the concept. Consequently 'designerly' social impact is also a vague concept that is difficult to capture explicitly. When we talk about measuring social impact we first should identify and investigate the effects of the created artefacts, services, processes, and relationships on various individual people, groups or cohorts, and populations and societies that happen as a result of designing for change and the particular action, activity, project, program, policy, or strategy of designers. The outcome of these can be positive, negative, mixed, or neutral. Furthermore, social impact can be immediate, gradual, or distant. In addition, it may be direct or indirect, and mitigated or amplified. The effect on the above subjects can be tangible or intangible. For this complexity, from the perspective of measuring and measurement, it is often conceptualized and considered as a change that happens, rather than as an absolute magnitude achieved. The tendency of the change and the manifestation of the change are both features of social impacts. For designers it is important to quantify/qualify both the manifestation of the (intended and/or unintended) change and the tendency of the change. This facilitates the understanding the situation with both the outcome of the design actions and decisions, and the process of getting to these results, actions and decisions. In the field of social and human sciences, there are a large number of different philosophies, methodologies, methods and tools proposed to investigate the concept of social impact as well as to conduct impact measurement. However, almost none of these have been adopted and/or adapted to the specificities of 'designerly' social impacts. Otherwise, we could have had a better view of the short and long term social impacts, for instance, of smartphones. Notwithstanding, measurement strategies such as Social Return on Investment (SROI) might be useful. SROI proceeds according to the following principles: (i) identify the impact domain and the concerned stakeholders, (ii) understand what changes have taken place due to intervention, (iii) value the things that matter in the given context, (iv) only include what is material and significant, (v) critically avoid over-claiming, (vi) make everything transparent and objective, and (vii) verify, validate and consolidate the results.

No such thing. Find a laboratory which can assist you with your samples. They will provide the quickest evaluation of your needs to see if any of the techniques are applicable. LC/MS analysis takes years to learn and longer to master.  While there are many wonderful books, articles and websites with tuturials and guides, none of these will "teach" you how to perform the analysis (I Teach and consult in LC/MS analysis and no one can be taught to be proficient in this technique from reading books or taking classes). Every instrument is different and each requires specialized training in how to use the specific hardware and the software too. Change models or brands and you start over learning all of the specific info for that system once again. There is no reason for you to spend years learning the technique when you probably just have a project you need help with. Hire experts to assist you or find a lab that you can work with which can provide you with some introductory training while they run the show and work out the needed methods and interpret the data for you.
BTW: This question/request lands on my desk at least 2-3 times every week. People that ask the question do not yet understand how complex the technique is. This is not like teaching someone how to use a lab spectrophotometer or analytical balance (which anyone can do in one day). Follow the suggestions above. This is the most efficient way to proceed.

I can't help you with Facebook, but (adaptive) machine translation can be implemented with Wolfram's "GoogleTranslate". You will need a Google Translate API account, which I understand is 20$ per 1 mio characters.
Wolfram does a good job with recurrent neural networks. Our own research is in speech recognition / comparison, especially regarding translation.

Dear FW BON members
In the GEO Handbook on Biodiversity Observation Networks, it is clearly emphasized that developing countries are a special focus in monitoring and conservation effort and capacity building. However as I see, BON networks are mostly comprised by people and organizations of developed country with limited access and knowledge of information and situations in developing countries. Personally I had an attempt to build contacts with GEO BON networks without success. In the profiles of the projects such as FW BON, there are authoritative members posting high impact articles, case studies and guides, however I do not think that this help in achieving the goals of the projects. Could you please explain more details about the project, and how the people can be involved or collaborate as to make the declared goals feasible?

Gaming Horizons is a European research project that's exploring how people in different spheres – from entertainment through to education and research – see gaming & gamification in society and frame the attendant issues.
We’re currently setting up a round of online interviews with school teachers who use digital games or gamification. These will be held in English and will last about 45 mins. All interview output will be anonymous and participation will be officially acknowledged and certified by Gaming Horizons.
If you have any suitable contacts or channels to suggest, we’d love to hear from you – you can mail me at jeff@itd.cnr.it.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Don't know if this counts as gamification - but have you heard of an online quiz-making tool called Kahoot? Kids absolutely love it, and it may be because of the gamification aspects - eg leaderboards, point scoring, the opportunity to select a player name, etc. This tool has become popular in the UK as a starter or plenary task. https://getkahoot.com/

I saw many questions without answer. Why Researchers' community is not collaborative as much as developer community. for example if a developer ask question in StackOverflow , he would get about 10 answers and responses within 15 minutes. Is that because of the website environment or the difference between developer and researchers' personally?
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Andrea Gaggioli
I mainly agree with what you say.  But when you say "sometimes researchers' questions are more open-ended and abstract" [and] "may tend to include more 'unstructured' knowledge", this should NOT excuse not being able to find some common ground in addressing the particular questions.  There is no good excuse for lack of common ground. The reason lack of common ground exists is:  lack of direct empiricism (incl. observations and inter-rater reliabilities AND a clear history of such informing our understanding of the nature of internal representation via the various memory capacities).  One major type of thinking antithetical to good, empirical  science is the notion of embedded/embodied/enacted WITHOUT also significant "embedding" IN THE ENVIRONMENT (present) in EACH significant instance of learning (including that which occurs for major qualitative developments AND ALL SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS).
It is beyond belief to me that a trend to theorize regarding embedded/embodied etc. is not accompanied by always MORE and MORE clear "embedding" with and in the environment -- this is simply a presumptuous break with empiricism (AND it's due to faulty, untested pseudo-assumptions) and is not in any way justified.  Until and unless the "embedded" theorists (researchers?) always show some corresponding increase in the embedded-ness of significant behaviors within the environment, all we have is a grand fiction of some important behavioral developments occurring ONLY IN/ JUST WITH the mind itself, i.e. ONLY internal processes involved.  This is related to the preposterous belief (and pseudo-assumption) that higher levels of conceptualization (aka abstraction) have no external proximate causes (referents) in the environment essential for their inception.  This preposterous, unempirical, and unjustified stance certainly has a long history in Western thought and mental philosophical cogitations, but should be seen by any empiricists as very likely a fiction; our outlook on the organism and its environment should SHOW our stance against such unjustified and empirically preposterous positions.  Until this is true, common ground, any real common ground for discussions will be lacking (it will be like the debate of those of 2 religious denominations !!)
If Western scientists continue to want to hold to certain basic assumptions (actually, basic beliefs, and not true assumptions), then they should at least have to PROVE THEM!  Without that the foundations of the fields of psychology are NOT even established; in a real sense, nothing good has yet even begun.
Let me a remind you of ALTERNATIVE views and assumptions (contrary to those positions held today, but biologically and organismically more likely) -- and this is in addition to finding empirical referents for all significant behavior change AND HAVING A HISTORY OF TRACKING THOSE over ontogeny (a pattern of conceptualization supported by the ethological approach in "A Human Ethogram ...", using only, but all, the terms of classical ethology):
It can clearly be argued that all of the following are more in line with biology (organismic, if you like):
(1) one should develop a theory expressly consistent with biological principles (e.g. homeostasis) -- it should clearly and, in effect, constantly show in the theory;
(2) The most significant learnings and innate factors occur, in effect, completely simultaneously (and the innate factors at times may well be more important, regardless of the stage of development one is looking at);
(3) Major innate guidance emerges with each significant qualitative advance in conceptual abilities (last one around adolescence, at the earliest);
(4) The more "advanced" the organism, the more learning occurs, BUT ALSO the more [significant] innate guidance (factors) are involved;
(5) Inductive work should be emphasized and hypothetico-deductive systems should be formulated ONLY when you must (and then with no loss or bias of/in observation)
(6) Everything that develops, including our most prized abstract conceptual abilities, are very likely and potentially observable, concrete (in their inception) -- though these may often be seen "just as" perceptual (perceptual/attentional) SHIFTS and adaptive biases.  (This is an instance of the CORE empirical assumption and the way learnings/developments would happen with the organism adapting in its environment in any and every noteworthy way.  NO abstract conceptual abilities emerge from just internal processes -- from just "thinking" in the brain/mind.)  Never accept social-learning fictions as any plausible substitutes for individual advances -- especially when these really have just the same status as stories or myths
By the way:  None of the above indicates there is less learning (more if anything -- if one can really use their imagination here); but, also see:  there is no "pure" learning.
Establish these OR establish your "contraries", but DO ESTABLISH a foundation for the field.  If you lack the ability to establish your core beliefs and views (and "assumptions"), abandon them for views and assumptions that are quite possible (if not more likely) and which can be empirically shown -- or at least give it a try..

what is best theory that support the learning styles of the digital era,and help to explain teaching and learning styles and needs of digital natives?
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi!
"Learning styles" is not the only term that has been discredited, or at least shown to be a quite complex and difficult to use for any meaningful course design. I saw an interersting article in Faculty Focus about it today: http://bit.ly/2qj8reB , recommending thinking of metacognition instead.
"Digital natives" has been a thought-provoking term for long now, but has also shown to be complex and has been questionned a lot. For example, young people are very different in abilities to handle ICTs, and many are specialised in only one or two kinds of applications, and can't handle the rest good at all.
Besides these complications, your question is very good, and perhaps can be reinterpreted to: What is a good theory to build on to change and design teaching in the information society to include all students? Personally, I am in my research working along the lines of Luciano Floridi's "Philosophy of Information". Google for his concept of "e-education", "infosphere" and "inforg". This is not fully developed as theory in education, education is mostly used as example in Floridi's philosophy. I attach an article which you may find interesting, and the synthesis of my recent doctoral dissertation - read in ch 8 and 9 - my interpretations.

Undoubtedly in every class there are going to be students with different degrees of comprehension. I maintain that each and every student has a different skill set and different interests. Correspondingly, Everyone may not be suited for every class, one of the drawbacks of he current educational system that rates them with the same yardstick of a planned test.
Pretty soon, I'll begin having students for a 2-yr Masters degree program in Global Harmony. Since the program is available to all applicants with a BA degree in any discipline, I anticipate the problem at hand as one of the situations that I"ll have to face.
My approach to handling such a problem is accommodating the problem under a  paradigm shift in education. In this approach, the student who has understood a given subject the most would recite the lecture first to the rest of the class. And since each one of us understand the subject matter by repetition, with every succeeding student reciting the same material to the rest of the class until all have  chance to recite in front of all students, we'd accept the subject matter understood. In such a system, there is no homework to grade, there is no need for giving any test, only project(s) for the class.
This would be an evidence of integrated teaching, learning and educational experiment. I'd appreciate your feedback on this approach.

I'm doing research about needs of the companies in networking (especially online networking via networking platforms)
The case is company is looking for a new business partner (another company) in order to innovate. And it uses online networking platforms  for it
Relevant answer
Answer
Alina,
If the company is looking for a new business partner to innovate a product or service, the company has to identify the product or service area where innovation is needed to create a competitive advantage. Based on the identification the has to identify the areas a new business partner could help the company though networking. If you do not have a clear understanding of the company's need, you will have difficulty in deterring the needs of companies in networking. Networking is a tool for linking two or parties togather, collaboration, and more. The needs of the company in networking depends on the what (innovation) and how (partnership) the company is trying to accomplishing through networking.

Introduction
Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL) is an attempt to apply different technology-based tools and programs in language classrooms in order to enhance their learning; it also assists language teachers to improve their teaching. Vis-à-vis traditional learning and teaching, TELL meets the 21st-century learners and teachers’ needs, which plays a vital role in educational systems of all of the countries around the world.
Rationale
There is a significant amount of research that attempts to evaluate TELL and its programs from a variety of aspects. Almost all of the related literature on the TELL/CALL is within a specific culture and society, and there is a lack of cross-cultural study on the TELL/CALL-related issues. There is an argument that educational improvement can be obtained through methods gather from comparative education research study (Stigler & Hiebert, 1999). Cross-cultural study is a kind of comparative study which looks at two or more different societies and cultures. Cross-cultural research has been incredibly valuable for research purposes. Another perspective which emphasizes the importance of cross-cultural study is the compatibility of the product with the two different societies and culture. The editors believe that copying and applying the findings of other societies, communities, and cultures is not merely end in the same result in another context. Although there are different studies which signify the applicability and usefulness of TELL/CALL in some countries, it does not prove the fact that it should provide the similar consequences for other cultures.
Objective
This edited book will try to cover the main issues in language learning and teaching based on technology tools and programs. The publication addresses the application and implementation of research methodologies within English language classrooms in different cultures around the world. The main focus of this book will be on review, quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods studies which meet the needs of applied linguists, CALL/TELL researchers, language teachers, and TEFL/TESOL/Linguistics graduate and post-graduate students.

Thank you Aakash! As a practitioner myself I understand your paper is focused on managerial objectives. There is nothing wrong with this approach to answer the managerial questions one might have. However, I am looking for academic-oriented papers. I am looking for engagement models I can build on my own research thus I am in need of Qualis 1 published papers, preferably double-blinded peer reviewed.

I am planning research on intra-cultural and intercultural collaboration in computer supported learning environments. Learners collaborate face-to-face in an intra-cultural environment and they also engage in online intercultural collaboration. How can I possibly measure learners' collaboration skills? Thank you for your answer in advance.
Relevant answer
Answer
True qualitative research does not involve measurement, but for other purposes, you could convert the qualitative data to quantitative data (i.e., quantize it). This would involve building a formal scoring system for your qualitative data. In particular, you could define a set of behaviors that indicate collaboration skills, along with a codebook, which would let you count every time that one of these behaviors occurred.
This is also known as quantitative content analysis, and there are a number of good book on this topic, including one by Krippendorff and one by Neuendorf. I have attached a book chapter that gives an introduction to this approach.

Mediation analyses are employed to understand a known relationship by exploring the underlying mechanism or process by which one variable influences another variable through a mediator variable.
