AT "Building Manager" is not one software product, but a system of interconnected software products of different developers, designed to achieve a main goal:
- Maximum automation and information linkage of all divisions of the design and construction organisation into a single system with complex and dynamic resources – time – costs estimation.
The creation of this automated technology required considerable efforts from developers of all software complexes included in AT, from the development and coordination of information exchange protocols to the development of special software.
Joint operation of software complexes of different purposes within the framework of a single system not only systematised all information flows against the background of significant reduction of labour intensity of separate processes (for example: calculation of estimates or formation of network organisational and technological model of construction for calculations of calendar plans) with the significant increase of information reliability level, but also has opened such opportunities, which were unavailable when using these software complexes separately.

The development of generative artificial intelligence applications is increasing the scale of objectification of work performed within various professions. On the one hand, generative artificial intelligence technologies are finding more and more applications in companies, enterprises and institutions increasing the efficiency of certain business processes supporting employees working in various positions. However, there are increasing considerations about the possibility of black scenarios coming true in futurological projections suggesting that in the future many jobs will be completely replaced by autonomic AI-equipped robots, androids or systems operating in cloud computing. On the other hand, in opposition to the black scenarios of future developments in labor markets are contrasted with more positive scenarios presenting futuristic projections of the development of labor markets, where new professions will be created thanks to the implementation of generative artificial intelligence technology into various aspects of economic activity. Which of these two scenarios will be realized to a greater extent in the future is currently not easy to predict precisely.
In view of the above, I address the following question to the esteemed community of scientists and researchers:

Before, in my country and several countries was considered the first author more important than the corresponding author. Recently the situation has changed.
I believe that first author is usually carried out most of the practical part of the research and must be the correspondence author too. Co-authors do part of the work.

Amir - the first author is usually the corresponding author. If a PhD student is submitting their own work then, as with all my PhD students, they are the 'lead' and first author in the article - and that should make them the corresponding author by default. I'm aware that it might be a different arrangement in different parts of the world but, at the end of the day, that is (to me) the fairest and most ethical arrangement. No matter how much support a PhD student receives from the supervision team - it is still their project and their data.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Monica Robinson and I am currently working in the restaurant industry. On the consumer side of things, we are top 5 in casual dining, yet as employee's, we are not one of the top work places.The store I work at has been having a lot of issues due to the lack of team cohesion and the ability to be productive, which results in overall loss of productivity and efficiency as a whole.
One Manager Perspective
I spoke with one of my managers and her main issues with the situation:
  1. Policies and standards aren't being met
  2. Employee's are not utilizing controlling factors to help reduce waste
  3. GM of the store is not subject to change
  4. Lack of team meetings (fully loaded once per month meeting)
  5. Lack of understanding of restaurant goals
Two Employee Perspectives
I spoke with two employees and their main issues with the situation:
  1. Poor team work
  2. No accountability
  3. Rules and regulations not being met (with exception of corporate presence)
  4. Too much responsibility during peak hours
  5. Lack of compensation for multiple job descriptions being performed
  6. Lack of compensation plan
  7. Labor laws not being enforced

I suggested to one of my managers that we begin with a survey. The purpose is to understand the situation more clearly by understanding all employees (subordinates and manager's) attitudes, characteristics, and perspectives in the workplace.

2. Skip literature review and create a survey to determine attitudes, characteristics, and perspectives of all employees in the workforce?
Attached is a Questionnaire I used for a Research Proposal I needed for Research Methods, a course a couple semesters ago.
I planned on bringing this to my manager and seeing ways we could modify it to better fit our needs within the restaurant.

A cursory view of issues highlightedabove, I see all your problems are related to processes. All restaurants work on processes.
Your problems are related to;
- poorly designed processes or
- poorly trained employees working on those processes or
- both
Literature, survey and analysis will not help in either in productivity or efficiency or customer satisfaction.
Going further on the fact highlighted by you that your restaurant rank top in the casual dining category, your production processes are matured.
The problem could be in other support processes. Analyse redesign or retrain employees.
Suggestion: In operation area, always select employees who ‘need’ job than those who ‘want’ a career.
Clearly need and want are differentiators in service commitment from employees. Am not against career.?!

Good afternoon,
I am working on my thesis on team work and I need to compare if teams differ when I adopt the rule 'at least 2 members of the team gave valid data' (19 teams in total), against the rule' at least 50% of the team members answered (17 teams in total)'. The team size is sometimes 12 members, so In order to take in consideration more teams for the research, I need to check this. If there is no significant difference in teams if both rules are applied in both rules, I would have more teams for the research if I adopt '>2 team members' rule.
I did add new data set with dummy variable, >50% vs >2 people responded. In that way most subjects overlap in the same data set. With this results I did not get significant difference.
But how justified is this analysis because it will be like repeated measures on independent T test? (I hope it makes sense:)
Or is there is another way to test this in SPSS?

From your work page, note that: (a) Group 21 appears only on the "> 2" side of the display, but not on the "50%" side; (b) the "> 2" should be ">= 2".
As is, (and discounting group 21 because it appears only once), you have:
15 duplicated sets (14 groups met both criteria; 1 group met neither)
2 sets that met the 50% but did not meet the at least 2 criterion
4 sets that met the at least 2 criterion but did not meet the 50% criterion
So, indeed, the groups are pretty much overlapping (15 of 21). All you'd be able to do with independent groups is compare the 2 sets (meeting only 50%) to the 4 sets (meeting only at least 2 criterion), but that seems somewhat futile, given the small numbers of groups.
The only scenario I can envision that allows a "50%" case to be met, but not the "two or more members" case to be met is that you have variable group sizes, and at least one had only two (2) members.
What you should probably do, if that is indeed the case, and your goal is to maximize the number of groups for which you can use data is modify your rule to:
"50% of the group OR at least 2 members"

Sustainability of pasture-based livestock farming systems in the European Mediterranean context: Synergies and trade-offs☆
Abstract : The sustainability of livestock farming systems (LFS) in relation to global concerns about climate change, population dynamics and the quality of the agro-ecosystem services that are provided to society and their trade-offs has become a fundamental issue for public and scientific debate. However, LFS differ widely in terms of the use of resources, degree of intensification, species and orientation of production, local/regional socio-economic and market context, cultural roles, etc. Therefore, we need to disaggregate livestock farming systems when analysing any aspect of sustainability.
This paper discusses low-input pasture-based farming systems (meat sheep and beef cattle) located in mountainous and other less favoured areas of the European Mediterranean basin. We first describe their recent evolution in terms of the level of intensification and structural, economic, social and environmental factors at the farm level, paying special attention to critical points of sustainability. Despite the diversity encountered, there are some common factors that threaten their future, such as an excessive dependency on premiums, the lack of generational turnover due to a number of increasingly influential social factors and a continuous process of abandonment of large marginal areas and concentration in more favourable areas. Next, we depict some relevant synergies and trade-offs between a number of factors that we have previously described, taking into account the wider socio-economic environment in which farms operate. Pasture-based LFS can satisfy societal demands (for public goods such as landscape and biodiversity or ethical concerns about food production) and are less vulnerable to market changes. However, they are not paid for the environmental services they deliver, they suffer displacement by other economic activities, and they are very sensitive to climate change scenarios. We also point out a number of options for designing and implementing more sustainable pasture-based LFS under very uncertain circumstances; the concepts of resilience, adaptive capacity and self-sufficiency are discussed within this context. Finally, we summarise some areas for future research: –valuation and integration of positive externalities of pasture-based LFS in an analytical sustainability frameworks and management tools, –assessment of the diversity of systems, the impact they generate and the public goods they deliver, –analysis of complex relationships between intensification of production, dependence on off-farm/on-farm inputs, productivity and working conditions, –consideration of the social factors that determine continuity and working conditions, –and the necessity of performing dynamic studies that allow the understanding and anticipation of change.

Abstract: The aim of the paper is to evaluate the feasibility and constraints of organic farming to increase the sustainability of Mediterranean small ruminant livestock systems. The paper analyzes the factors affecting sustainability of small ruminant livestock systems in the Mediterranean basin, such as seasonal forage availability or suboptimal pasture utilisation due to overgrazing but also the factor of undergrazing. The paper considers how the application of practices of organic farming may contribute to promoting sustainable land use and improving environment conservation, animal welfare, and product quality. Also the prospects of new information-based technologies, like geographic information systems and global positioning systems, to improve sustainability are presented. A model of pasture-based dairy sheep production system is proposed, with special emphasis on the organisation of a farm forage system to meet animal nutritional requirement. Some options for an integrated strategy for the control of parasitic disease in small ruminant production systems are discussed. These are based on a combination of general prevention methods (i.e. risk control and identification), grazing management (i.e. multifunctional grassland management), nonchemical treatments (i.e. homeopathic herbal preparations) and novel approaches (i.e. biological control and bioactive forages). Comparative effects of phytotherapy and conventional treatment on dairy sheep helminthic disease and on metabolic status and animal welfare are presented.
The prospects of organic farming are of particular interest for the less favoured Mediterranean areas, where it may contribute to the safeguard of agricultural functions, like care and preservation of landscape, and safeguarding of rural villages with positive effects on the quality of life in rural communities. Some activities would be particularly appropriate in natural parks, where small ruminants and other domestic animals interact with wildlife and where biodiversity must be preserved.
For positive results a new collaborative decision-making process is required between rural and urban communities, businesses and government. In addition, strong supports from scientific research and the extension services are needed to correct and fully utilize new information technologies to exploit the magnitude and potential of organic farming for enhancement of sustainable small ruminant production systems in the Mediterranean region.

  • For a project that me and my team is working on, we are using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 (student license) for 3D modelling. We are working on NACA airfoils.

  • To do this modelling, I've used two methods. Both of which isn't satisfactory. Please advice if using geometric center of airfoil is better than aerodynamic center. And how to find it. Please suggest any other method to get the uniform thickness distribution.
  1. Use a NACA 6415, c=600mm and NACA 6412, c=580mm. Superimpose their aerodynamic centers.
  • The issue with this method is that thickness is more at Trailing Edge (TE) than at Leading Edge (LE).
  1. Use a NACA 6415, c=600mm and scale it down to 0.85 with respect to the aerodynamic center.
  • Issue with this is that the thickness variation is too high.

When searching for commercially available e-vehicles (e.g. @ Piaggio), you should be able to find more motor power values and the corresponding vehicle weights.
From this point of view, 1.5 kW for a 3-wheeler seems a bit 'meagre'.

Hi there,
my research concentrates on standardized processes in manual labour. Foremost I want to define standardized work in a more specific way.
Once I'm done with it I want to find out, if certain standard levels are connected to characterized levels of physical and psychological stress.
Therefore I need some guideance to find relevant papers, which connect standardized work in gerneral with physical or psychological stress.

Various studies have in the past established that lack of influence is tantamount to lack of leadership. Influence, refers to how an individual stimulates people's interest and passion to willingly strive towards achieving a common goal or desired state.
In the words of Bhatt 2012, he emphasized that true leadership cannot be awarded, appointed or assigned. It comes only from influence, and that can’t be mandated. It must be earned.
However, in some situations an individual finds him/herself in a situation to exert influence, and when he does, the group is not motivated, therefore unwilling to accept such approach to influence from that individual.
This brings me to the question;

My answer does not focus on theory but on simple practices. If your question is really to further research you should give far more weight to the previous responses from our colleagues.
Here are the steps I would advise one to take in order to establish his/her influence within a workgroup:
1. Understand the organizational culture and "politics" to see where you best fit in (e.g. - What are the terminal and instrumental values shared across the organization? See Rokeach Value Survey). P.S. – Do not be deceived by the "espoused" values understand the "enacted" values.
2. Understand your most prominent potential to establish your personal power base within the organization (e.g. – legitimate, reward, expert, referent, coercive – See French and Raven).
3. Seek to align your power base with the terminal and instrumental values of the organizational culture.
4. And now for the most important subsequent steps - Be Humble, Fit In, and Be Friendly ... :-).
Again, these ideas may not help you as much as the contributions from others. Nevertheless I give them in hope that they might be of some use to you and/or others.

This is a very timely problem. My colleague Charles Jahren at Iowa State has been doing research on the way different generations learn as a part of an engineering education research project to improve the pedagogy in construction engineering education. I've not followed his actual published output but I was assume he is making a comparison of generational learning models and since construction is totally a team-intensive industry, those comparisons might be of use to you.

The norm of reciprocity says that “people should help those who help them and, therefore, those whom you have helped have an obligation to help you”. The norm of reciprocity has been found to be present in every society (from animals to humans) and has been found to contribute to social system stability. However it has not been studied within the social context of sports. From personal experience (ex-professional cyclist) it has an important effect on team cohesion and my thesis on team mental toughness found that it is one of the characteristics of a mentally tough team. Therefore the question is whether reciprocity is a key variable affecting group dynamics within the sports context?

Hi Juan,
I think "reciprocity" can be an important construct explain why satisfied team members can contribute to overall team outcomes.  This is based on a mixed methods study that I'd conducted on project team members whereby when they were satisfied, the project performance has improved.  During the qualitative phase of the study through interviews with some participants, when team members received benefits contributed by other team members, this has created gratitude showing which rendered them to do something good in return to those team members (contributors).  May be through multiplier effect, this has improved the project performance outcomes.  Lesson learned for me from that study is - team leader needs to proactively trigger the "reciprocal action" e.g. doing good for others by demonstrating it himself / herself earlier and more frequently or motivate team members to do the same in which this might significantly improve the team outcomes.  I think this learning might apply to sport team in which may be you can contribute some empirical results.  In case you want, you can refer to this link on that study / article that I'd written.  Wishing you all the best.
