Last year I found a text in German in which Salomon Müller describes how he climbs Mount Singgalang in Sumatra, sees a pygmy squirrel on a mossy tree, and shoots it. I shared the text with a friend, who, like me was very excited about the finding. Since then she has lost the email in which I sent her the text, as have I, and I have absolutely no idea where I found the German text. I have searched as much as I could but not a trace of this text. Plenty of Dutch writings by Müller but not the detailed description in German of his ascent of Mt Singgalang. Am I losing my marbles or does that text indeed exist?

Slender squirrel is to be expected there. The interesting thing about Pygmy Squirrel (Excilisciurus) was that Mueller's accounts of seeing the species in Sumatra has been dismissed as erroneous by subsequent experts. That's why the hunting account is of interest (and also because we did find the species on Sumatra, so Mueller was right).

If you can be more concrete in your quest, we can certainly help. Normally, currency data for the 18th-19th century in Samata (Sumatra or Sumatera is an English late interpretation of the island name) can be studied from trade and travel maritime ships in the region. There were not only Dutch, but also British, French, Spanish, and Portuguese vessels trading in Samatra with plenty of currency and price information. If you can explain what are you searching for, we can be more explicit.

Film/Psychology Review was founded in 1980 as a semiannual journal edited by Roy Huss, chair of Film Study Program at Queens College NY. It featured as vol. 4, continuing Psychocultural Review (vol.1-3 ed. by Kenneth Burke, Arnaldo Rascovsky, Esther Mennaker). However, only two issues were published in 1980; then it was not continued. It was hypothesized that this rupture has been caused by the "untimely death" of the editor, Roy Huss - but Huss mysteriously disappeared, probably falling victim to a crime, during a trip to Sumatra with a friend in January, 1983. As this was an unforseeable event, I ask myself what happened to Film/Psychology Review, a journal started with so much enthusiasm, in 1982? - If there is any enthusiast out there who knows more about it, I would be most grateful for any help.
