What new, innovative features are being added to bank cards where banks are taking advantage of new Big Data Analytics and other new Industry 4.0 technologies?
Commercial banks, in an effort to attract new customers, offer a package of financial services and banking products, implement new ICT and Industry 4.0 information technologies into their banking operations in order to improve them, improve the quality and expansion of financial and other services, create facilities for remote access to online and mobile banking offerings, enrich their offerings with new services, including not only financial services. For example, there are banks that add analytics and customer advice on healthy lifestyles and ecological, pro-environmental, pro-climate aspects to bank cards, including credit cards, in line with new trends of sustainable development and green transformation of the economy. Some banks add analytics to bank, payment or credit cards, informing cardholders not only how much money they have spent on the purchase of certain products and/or services, but also what carbon footprint is associated with certain completed or planned purchases.

New forms of incentives that have been in use for several years now include. financial consulting, tax consulting, assistance with accounting, financial reporting, the possibility of creating a website for the company, including an online store platform, access to remote services for businesses and companies, the possibility of dealing with official matters at public institutions, including the tax office, the institution of the social security system, the institution of business records, the institution that keeps national statistics, the institution of the health system, the insurance company, the investment fund, the brokerage office that mediates in securities, the banking exchange, etc. These services are offered as additional and free of charge or charged at a low fee as incentives for new customers, mainly SME businesses, who open a business account through online banking and take advantage of a certain package of banking services and products.
In view of the above, I address the following research question to the esteemed community of researchers and scientists:

As a lecturer, a researcher, and most importantly a father for 5 kids, I have seen over the years that the students, in general, haven’t real knowledge. From my personal perspective, the rationale behind this relates to the following facts:
  • Most of their time is concentrating on social media, games, and music more than learning. In turn, they are weak in the research process.
  • They think that their educators or instructors are not too smart to catch their plagiarize in the exams or assignments.
  • Most of them are suffering from financial problems. Some work more than 12 hours per day. As a consequence, they haven’t time to sleep or read.
  • The students haven't enough self-confidence. They believe that following the others is more valuable more than working on building themselves.
  • Furthermore, they have a lack of ideas about the consequences of their decisions.
  • Most of them haven't the ability to write a full completed paragraph. They usually use the copy-paste process for their assignments and projects.
  • I am so sorry to say that most of them have an internal belief of why I should read and study if I can get high marks by cheating.

Hi,
I have been working on a conference solution based on a smartphone grid. Right now, I am stuck on Android Smartphones, where although I have managed to normalize loudness programmatically when it gets played on different phones then, due to the Hardware difference of speakers, it plays with different loudness.
I am keen to know if there is any way to make it sound the same on different Android Smartphones concerning loudness.
I am using DRC (dynamic range compressor with gain) to normalize it on specific dBs. But still, it sounds different on different smartphones in terms of loudness.

Dear Sir, I recall that a month ago I responded to your query on RG on energy saving for a climate disaster in relation to smart home and industrial devices. I'm delighted to have another opportunity to answer in the energy context. There are several smart home gadgets available, but the ones that save energy on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning fascinate me (also you, perhaps). Most of the average energy bill goes to heating, cooling, and space heating. Heating and cooling make up 15-17% of the average energy bill, and space heating is another 14-15%. This does not account for water heaters, which require an additional 12-14% of electricity.
At this point, it should not be any surprise that a smart thermostat will result in the greatest cost savings. According to Energy Star, the average American home spends over $900 a year on heating and cooling alone. By implementing a smart thermostat, the govt strategy estimates users may save $100 a year or 11% of heating and cooling expenditures. It is kinda interesting to see that the Nest home automation company sells a smart thermostat that can offer a 10%–12% gain in heating efficiency and a 15% gain in cooling efficiency for the average homeowner. These numbers show annual cost reductions ranging from $131 to $145. That signifies that a smart thermostat would then pay for itself in merely 2 years, rendering it the right smart home device users can invest in to save energy and money. Still, not every house can benefit from a smart thermostat, coz setting one up is a hassle. I'd also want to add that it's troublesome to claim the smart thermostat as a universal gadget when considering diverse geographical zones.

So far I have performed simple paired t-tests and investigated various variations of ANOVA and MANOVA. However, I am very much unsure which analysis I need to use to answer these questions as they feel more complex than I anticipated when starting this research.
Are the questions that I am trying to ask too complex, and are there too many variables involved?
Any suggestions for which analysis to use are highly welcome.

I am looking for a Stroop task app that can work on both Apple and Android smartphones for a research experiment. Found the encephal app (https://encephalapp.com/) but validation is limited and the test itself presents some limitations in comparison to what is typically used in the litterature (e.g. only 3 colors, blocks of 4 trials, inhibition function only, etc.). I would also like to have access to both the inhibition and switching modes. Didn't find anything on Github either. Data workflow also need to be secured. Should I consider progamming it?

Dear Dr. Pete, I have tested forestry before, and found that due to the IOS system can't install open-source positioning applications, it can't achieve high spatial positioning; On the contrary, Android phones can install many open-source positioning software, which can achieve better positioning requirements.

We had a question in this article. How did they calculate a single band value representing all 64 electrodes to compare between-subject groups? Usually, a specific band (i.e., alpha) should have 64 pieces of data towards corresponding 64 electrodes.
The table shows that each participant have a single rest data for one specific band, and then research use independent t-test to compare between two groups.
Can any experts help us to understand this?

The authors write this: "A digital FFT (fast fourier transform) based power spectrum analysis (Welch technique, Hamming windowing function) was used to compute PSD average value of EEG with NFFT = 1024, window = 512 and 50% overlapping window. An average absolute power value of each electrode for each frequency band was calculated. An average of the pre-experimental absolute power was used to determine the individual power during rest. The power of the rest period was set as the baseline. From this reference power value, individual power changes during smartphone use were determined as the relative stimulus-related change. The relative power of each band was calculated for statistics (e.g. α/(sum of the powers from all five bands))."
From my experience and from what I can see is written, this means that they calculated the average power for all electrodes in a given band. This simplifies the analysis but looses a lot of information on location, for example, of any differences detected.

We're currently planning a pilot study to explore movement behaviour within urban and sub-urban greenspace, as well as the contribution of greenspace-based physical activity to total weekly physical activity. Participants will be given accelerometers to capture movement, but we're looking for a good (but affordable) method of capturing location. Dedicated GPS devices remain prohibitively expensive for this project, with a potential solution available through using smartphone data collection.
I'd be really interested and grateful to receive recommendations for smartphone apps that would facilitate this capture. Naturally, I'm interested in accuracy, but would be willing to compromise somewhat in order to obtain an app that is cross-platform, simple to use and share data, and possesses precedence for research use. The app also needs to be ethically sound with regard to data sharing and privacy. The choice in available apps is overwhelming, and any recommendations would be most welcome, especially those based on experience.

I doubt that there would be any generic way to interrogate the firmware for performance. If you had access to an ensemble of different devices you might find that different subsets might have similar performance and most devices do list firmware modules with version details and release dates. But testing each device rigorously and creating a database will be a pretty onerous task!

I have to find the correlation and causality between participants’ smartphone uses pattern and loneliness. For that, i have the dependent variable loneliness (both baseline (0 to 80) and daily: in an 0 to 10 numeric scale), and independent variables listed from daily smartphone uses screen time, spend time in several categorized apps like social media, entertainment, communication, physical activity, sleep, and some social variables and moods like how much the person felt bored, anxious, satisfied, productive, etc. I will collect these independent variables for 10 days, and the psychosocial variables will be collected three times a day. I also have to use a couple of prediction algorithms for predicting loneliness with the above-mentioned independent variables. But first, I have to find the correlation and causality between the dependent and independent variables. I just have programming experience until now with python, no statistics knowledge. I have about 9 months remaining to complete my thesis. Please share your valuable guideline and resources on how can I proceed with this challenge where I can get the most meaningful results.

This question came to mind at a younger age when I thought " could there ever be an application on smartphones which when turned on, emits some sort of anti-gravitational waves from the screen of the phone to a measure height such that any object within the radius of the anti-gravitational waves will float. Yes, I know it has some very smart features, but I can't help but focus on the downsides, weaknesses and dumb things that the iphone has.

Hello,
I have been working on a project where I have to mix multiple audio signals of the same source coming from different slave smartphones on one master smartphone in a distributed way. Now I have aligned multiple audio packets (Packet level synchronization) in real-time (still unable to do sample-level synchronization) but when I mix them I get a comb filter effect.
My packet contains 40ms of data at a sampling rate of 48KHz. How can I eliminate this effect?
I am more into ways of making it smooth rather than subtracting delayed signals? Is there any kind of filter somewhat "AntiComb Filter" to make this happen?

Hi Douglas, according to my experience, sampling rate is not the only one factor that affect the 'count' or cut point establishment. Other than that, the placement of the sensor and the age of the population are also factors that can change the cut-point threshold. In addition, the way you preprocess the accelerometer data is also affect the result, for example: the paper threshold was based on filtered data but your accelerometer data was not filtered then the result may not valid.

Hello,
I am trying to find acoustic round-trip latency of Android smartphones. I have using the technique of where I play a beep and listen to it through the phone and then perform convolution and get time index where we get the peak value.
Issues:
Here the issue is that when we play our beep, the AEC and NS of Android smartphones cancel and attenuate the beep and it cant be seen in recorded data.
Background & Relevant Information:
Most of the applications that measure acoustic latency such as the OboeTester app etc. use VOICE_RECOGNITION (https://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/MediaRecorder.AudioSource#VOICE_RECOGNITION) mode. In this mode, no DSP is performed and we get raw data. But this excludes the latency of DSP algorithms performed by the built-in components.
What I want:
I want to find the round trip latency using VOICE_COMMUNICATION mode. In this mode, all components of AEC, AGC, and NS are activated. But this cancels our beep and we can't get accurate results.
Is there any want to find latency while AEC and NS are working. Looking forward for the solution.

Hello,
I have been developing an algorithm using DSP techniques to select a dominant speaker in a conference in which a cluster of smartphones have been used each with microphone and speaker enabled.
These smartphones can be placed in any orientation with a minimum distance between them be 1 foot.
I have researched a lot in order to find something like that, but mostly I get microphone arrays etc, but not smartphones (iOS and Android) specific. Also, this cluster of phones is distributed cluster, connected wirelessly.
Some points to keep in mind:
1. Android and iOS have different hardware. So far what I concluded is that, if we go into features like Energy, power, RMS, peaks, dB etc. They don't give that steady result since hardware is changed and each phone computes energy of same voice (for testing same recorded voice) at different levels.
2. Used normalization techniques ,but it didn't help in that way.
3. Read somewhere that when you dont know the min max value of certain dataset Z-score is best option, also tried to implement by using circular buffer to store pevious one second of data. It improved selection but not upto expectation. Still gives varying results.
Any help will be appreciated.

I am a Master's student and currently doing my dissertation. I am struggling to choose a statistical analysis to prove my hypothesis as most of the statistical tests involve an independent and dependant variable whereas in my questionnaire, I asked the people to respond to a given set of statements on a 5-point Likert scale which directly asks them to respond to statements involving both the items I want to test.
For eg- my H1: eWOM influences the purchase intention of a smartphone.
For this hypothesis,  I asked them 2 statements which were:
“To buy a smartphone, I would consult eWOM (such as online reviews, comments, blogs, articles, video reviews, etc) by other users/peers/influencers to make a decision.”
“eWOM by other users/peers/influencers about a smartphone is an important part of my purchase decision making.” Most people 'somewhat agreed' or 'strongly agreed' to the statements but I don't know how to prove it statistically or in a way which is acceptable.
Similarly, for other hypotheses, I have done the same with 2-3 statements where the statements directly asked them. I have attached a file with this for a better understanding.

As I see your study, you have conducted an opinion survey asking about people's intentions. You can't prove your hypotheses. That's not what statistical analysis does.
You can disprove the null hypothesis, though, which, I assume, would be that agreement with your statements would be randomly distributed amongst your choices (some would, some wouldn't but the responses would be equally distributed).
If this is a correct assumption, then I suggest a simple chi-square test comparing your response distributions vs equal numbers in each of the cells. I assume you have a large enough sample to answer this question. Consult with your advisor regarding the need for a power analysis, what your null hypothesis should be, and whether you need to correct for multiple comparisons.
Now if all of your hypotheses basically test the same assumption, you could compute the sums of each of your statements, compute the internal consistency across your 5 statements to get a reliability coefficient and, if the reliability is high (say >0.7) then you could compare the sum to your null hypothesis using just one chi-square test.
