I am hoping to create a mock bacterial community and would like to ask for recommendations of commercial companies that offer customization services and can ship to Singapore?
With the much recent incident of death of a 49-year old local worker in Singapore, falling 9.5m below on the factory floor while preparing to do roof cleaning work, the workplace fatalities count for the year 2022 reached to 24. Some industry players and safety experts have pointed out ‘manpower shortages and tighter deadlines due to COVID-19 disruptions’ as the cause behind the increasing rate of workplace fatalities and accidents. In fact, very recently, the Prime Minister of the country – Lee Hsien Loong – commented that “safety standards and practices seem to have slipped as the economy reopens”. Thus, workplace safety in Singapore coupled with skilled labor shortage continues to be a bone in the throat for the construction firms.
What can be the possible measures that can be adopted to mitigate these issues through AI introduced by viAct ?
Dear researchers,
I am a coordinator of an international research project investigating the impact of remote and hybrid work on employees' wellbeing, retention, and knowledge transfer. Currently, we want to proceed with data collection in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore (we have prepared the survey in Chinese traditional). However, this is rather complicated for my team (even partners from HK and Taiwan) to find relevant data collection sources (websites/companies/Universities) that could help in getting the right respondents. I posted a batch on Amazon MTurk, but gather only a few relevant answers.... Could you share any ideas or contacts with companies/websites helping in data collection in mentioned countries?
I am currently working on the use of metacognitive abilities to improve teacher proficiency of teaching mathematics in Primary schools. I am looking for international collaborators from Japan, Germany, Singapore, Netherlands, USA, Canada and Australia.

Hi everyone, I would like to know what are guidelines/ manuals (regarding slope and surface design, drainage system design) the Singapore government refers to? Are they open source and where should I download them?
Thanks for letting me know!!! I really appreciate your information.
The economy of Singapore is highly developed. It has been ranked by World economic forum as the most open economy in the world.
Dear all,
Singapore is leading the list of nations scoring outstandingly in the PISA and TIMSS tests globally. Ask a Singaporean student - does he play sport or does he enjoy his school-tuition-homework life? Is he really enjoying his children years? Would be interesting to have some answers from them here....
My actual question was .....do you think PISA is just measuring the academic ability of a student? Dont you think we need to measure some other things as well to be clear on which students will probably be living better lives and also be involved in bettering lives around them? We do not just need academically strong pupils but ones who can lead us in shaping our future.
PISA tests are a good way to know where we stand academically in comparison to the rest of the world, that i agree but who is measuring the cost at which the students are able to perform better?
What do you think?
Qatar has nearly 100,000 confirmed cases and has lost 113 lives so far (death rate 0.12%) and Singapore has to face less death even from Qatar. Singapore has nearly 45,000 cases and lost only 26 lives (death rate 0.06%) until June 30, 2020.

I am now conducting a research on municipal waste management especially on waste-to-energy. I would like to discuss about the typical business model of WtE in the world.
1. What are major revenue streams? Tipping fee only, or tipping fee + electricity; typically how is the percentage?
2. Is the electricity production from WtE committed on contractual basis (PPA)?
3. etc.
Have heard a handful of anecdotes from Spain (and also now here in NYC) that HIV-infected persons on antiretroviral therapy appear to be less likely to contract Covid-19.
And, of course, as a corollary to this, I am wondering if HIV- persons taking emtricitabine-tenofovir ("PrEP") might also be.
Thirdly, there is the question of, contrary to popular presumption, HIV-infected persons due to unresolved aberrations in cell signaling or other unresolved immune defects might not advance to the most lethal extremes of infection, were they to become infected.
Best resource of data at this point, one might imagine, would be from countries in East Asia that appear to be coming out of (at least the first wave of) this. There are great community based HIV networks I am aware of in Spain, Italy, Germany, UK, others, but I hesitate to ask this of them now. But it seems important for many reasons. Tk u, Mike
Probiotic is OTIC MICROORGANISMS 1.1 DEFINITIONS Yuan Kun Lee Department of Microbiology, National University of Singapore, Singapore “Probiotics” is derived from Greek and means “prolife.” It has been redefined throughout the years as more scientific knowledge and better understanding on its relationship between intestinal health and general well-being has been gained. The following are definitions of “probiotics” derived through times. Lilly and Stillwell in 1965 (5) defined probiotics as “Growth promoting factors produced by microorganisms.” Parker in 1974 (7) suggested an interaction between microorganisms with the host: “Organisms and substances with beneficial effects for animals by influencing the intestinal microflora.” Fuller in 1989 (3) defined it as “A live microbial feed supplement which beneficially affects the host animal by improving its intestinal microbial balance.” Havenaar and Huis Int Veld in 1992 (4) said probiotics are “A mono- or mixed culture of live microorganisms which, applied to animal or man, affect beneficially the host by improving the properties of the indigenous microflora.” ILSI (International Life Sciences Institute) Europe Working Group (1998) (9): “so what is impact on health?

With rapidly increasing subscriber base of 4G mobile systems almost throughout the world, there is a trend to phase out older generation technologies (like 2G and 3 G). This phasing out of older technologies is happening differently in different regions. While some operators have stopped their 2G services as early as 2008, others do not seem to be in a great hurry to do that. Countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Macau have totally stopped their 2G services already. Thus, East Asia is perhaps leading the way with regard to switching-off 2G networks. On the other hand, in some European countries it is expected that 2G may even outlive 3G, UMTS systems. Is there a global time-line to be pursued by network operators for 2G switch-off?
I would like to perform an experiment in vivo to test the effect of IL6 signaling blocking on tumor growth. there are several papers which used Tocilizumab or other anti-human-IL6R antibody from different clones. but I cannot find a company to order it in Singapore. I have looked at the macro-economic and micro-economic drivers of innovation, but recently it dawned upon me that maybe climate is a variable that also influences innovation... or maybe not? But if does, whether it is a direct or an indirect driver of innovation?
Some of the world best innovation in the present times have come from cold climes of US and Europe (and in Asia from Japan except Singapore which is surely an anomaly). All top-20 clusters ranked by WIPO in terms of being most inventive, are from cold climes.
We found a Cantharellus which i keyed out to C. ianthinoxanthus but it's not known in Singapore as yet. I really would like to know what exact species it may be. Are you doing phylogeny on it as well? Do you also need Cratharellus?

WHO Report 2012 quoted India of which about 80% of the people are Hinduism has a high suicide rate of about 21 per 100K population, while global average is about 11.4 per 100K population. Does Indian / Hindu in minority race countries in Asia like Singapore and Malaysia also have higher suicide rate compared to other races and religions? What could be factors causing this phenomenon?

Something outside my expertise, but I would like to ask in view of the recent Nature paper that says Singapore will likely see climate departure in 2028 (Mora et al., 2013) if nothing was done in the island nation itself, if the mere action of a small island nation would be capable of changing the overall climate landscape?
Also, the observed increase in rainfall, while attributed to the La Nina cycle, could it also have been an effect of global warming? Or will this is a prelude to what is to come with climate departure for Singapore?
