In this case, there are two types of firms. Type A: Firms whose long term loan mature just before the financial crunch of August of 2007 and Type B: Firms whose long term loan mature just after the financial crunch of August of 2007. In order to analyze the impact of financial crisis on R&D Intensity, can I just take Type B firms and use panel data of year 2007 and 2009 and use First Difference Model to analyze the issue? Is it okay, statistically speaking, to employ this method?

I want to ask others opinion on what career choices should one make right after a PhD in Engineering.

1) Should one choose academia, or the industry (R&D) etc.? What are the pros and cons?

We have been doing invasion assays by coating transwell inserts with Matrigel, and setting up the invasion. The next day we removed the cells from the bottom of the insert (that have migrated through) using 10X dissociation buffer from R & D systems. This dissociation buffer is now unavailable. What else can I use?

After release of cells from bottom of insert, I want to add calcein-AM to stain the cells and then quantify using fluorescence.

Hello, I am running an R&D human pre-mixed multi-analyte Kit (magnetic) using the Bio-Plex 200 system. I have run this kit many times before, but not for a few months recently. It looks like I have plenty of beads but they are not being read in the correct bead region and I have no idea why! I have put in the correct standards information, bead region etc. Any help would be very much appreciated. I have attached photos to show what I am talking about.

Generally radar detection algorithms to work in real time would require less computational complexity. CA-CFAR is good candidate algorithm in the presence of noise and when electronic counter measures/intentional interference is present, multiple detection comes in the R-D map. We have collected some real time data from mmWave sensor in the presence of ECM. Can any one of you suggest, which one is a good detection algorithms to detect the target in this scenario?. If one is working in R&D, the company allows/wants to publish information that proves claims of the company and its cutting-edge technology- Clearly, the company prevents the publication of any information that might harm its business. Additionally, the company has no interest in having an employee publishing reviews or anything else.

How can someone publish independently from the company?

I'm wondering if anyone can help with this. I work at the Wellcome Collections in London as a Research Development Specialist, and we are trying to move beyond working directly with universities and AHRC consortia to work with Early Career Researchers within the Humanities.

As I'm also a scholar myself I know all too well how important this is given the nature of precarious contracts, with researchers left for long periods between university affiliation and potentiaul missing out on opportunities that could, ironically, increase their chances of getting an academic post.

The COVID-19 epidemic and the policy response is disrupting life around the world, with significant impacts also on the economy. This economic downturn will impact R&D expenditure, and therefore, on innovation.

I want to know the impact of financial crisis on R&D spending of a firm. Data regarding 438 firms will be selected for two years i.e. 2007 and 2009. Firms will be categorized into treatment and control groups. Half will be in treatment and remaining in control group. Which regression model will be suitable for this analysis?

I am an engineer/researcher  developing code for finding feature parameters of irregular shaped 2d closed curves . For example a square has 4 corners and one width/height , circle infinite corners/radius, oval infinite corners/ 2 lengths major and minor. So I was wondering if we could have various measure for real life curves as found in US cardiac images such as width of the ventricles.Any help would be deeply appreciated.

we are all aware of inefficiencies and waste (time, material, talent) in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector. We also do know that we need to increase overall productivity and quality while reducing costs. But is it possible in the "status quo", using existing processes, materials and tools?

New technologies have demonstrated technical feasibility in R&D (both in Academia and Industry). Yet, there seems little demand from the market itself. How is that - are we lacking appropriate business model design, technology transfer capabilities or modes of open innovation?

Do we need entrepreneurship for these new technologies in construction?

I am doing research paper Russian geopolitical interest at Northern sea route. .Soviet and Arctic had long history from 1930, exploring naval base by Arctic circle as today research develop nuclear icebreaker development experiment of raw materials, fisheries, oil etc. EurAsia trade with China and other as one of reason Russian economy is rebuilding,, but in long run Russian could benefit from climate change. Many new research concepts are published in the low or no impact factor journals because of insufficient research results. Other researchers are extending this work and publishing the results in high impact factor journal. But, unfortunately they are not citing the research work published in low impact factor journals, though it is base of extended research idea. Additionally, if they cite the base research paper, reviewers/ editors or journal are not allowing to cite base research paper. Please share your opinion.

I am currently writing a quantitative paper on this topic and am not very well versed in econometrics. Therefore, I ask for your understanding for my "simple" questions.

Currently I am reading many papers in regards to this topic. I decided to choose panel data (still unsure). Furthermore I am unsure how to create the model in STATA. Unfortunately I am not very familiar and I thought of putting spendings of private R&D as the dependent variable. I am unsure about the choice of instrumental variables. I also wondered whether factor productivity would not be better suited as a dependent variable, since I want to test the effect on the productivity of a country. I'm building an ELISA from an antibody pair kit (R&D Duoset DY291) and it seems I can't use BSA in case there's any bovine IGF1 (100% similarity to human form) present so it suggests I use PBS with 5% tween which is fine.

However the product insert then says “The PBS -tween (5%) diluent must not be used to dilute the Detection Antibody or the Streptavidin-HRP".

My question is what buffer should I use for the Detector & strep-HRP? Can i use BSA here or will it potentially compete off the human IGF1?

I'm looking for formative studies on the role of patents and R&D department productivity in mergers & acquisition (M&A) and other forms of capital investment strategy. Specifically I'm looking for research publications of historical value, of high impact or otherwise comprise recent significant developments.

I do not have the figures for researchers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), but for this discussion, I will assume that in a population of researchers, a fair fraction will be researchers in STEM.

The Philippines has a frustratingly small number of researchers (~188 researchers for every 1 million inhabitants). This is probably the reason it lags behind its neighbors in the STEM fields. This, I would suppose, has detrimental effects on the overall development of the country. Its neighbors, such as South Korea (~7500 researchers/million inhabitants), Singapore (~6700 researchers/million inhabitants), Japan (~5300 researchers/million inhabitants), Malaysia (~2400 researchers/million inhabitants), Thailand (~1200 researchers/million inhabitants), China (~1200 researchers/million inhabitants), and Vietnam (~700 researchers/million inhabitants), that have significantly larger densities of researchers have overtaken the Philippines in many aspects of development. Other countries, such as Laos (~16 researchers/million inhabitants), Cambodia (~30 researchers/million inhabitants), Myanmar (~29 researchers/million inhabitants) seem to also lag in many aspects of progress.

What might it take for countries such as ours to raise more researchers and scientists? Would you be able to provide suggestions on how we might do so despite the fact that the Philippines and other countries with small densities of researchers are low- to middle-income countries?

Some Journal without authentication we are not able to view that research papers. So If I want to improve the visibility of my research papers means what step I have to follow?

I am trying to make a conductive silicone composite (1k-1Mohm) using sylgard 184. I am using a probe sonicator (dispersed in heptane, chloroform or THF) and planetary centrifugal mixer but can’t seem to get any resistance measurements at low percentages (<3%). I want the percentage to be low because I need to spin coat the final material. Is there an optimal MWCNT or even SWCNT size that would be best for getting a minimally conductive silicone composite at low percentages?

Is there a way/tool/ search engine that would allow me to search for multiple variations of the same phrase at the same time?

For example, I want to search for "revealing his true belief". But I also want to search for all the phrases that have the same or similar meaning like"betraying their real opinion".

The total number of words here is 8 but there are many different ways to combine the words so there are many different potential alternative phrases: "revealing his true opinion" "revealing his real opinion" "betraying our real opinion" etc….

Is there a way to accomplish this in two conditions?

1- I determine the alternatives. So I specify that for "word 1 word 2 word 3 word4", the alternatives for word 1 are: Only revealing or showing.

2- Use all the possible synonyms or even antonyms for "revealing" in word 1.

A very useful tip I got is the use of asterisk so "revealing * true opinion" would yield "revealing your true opinion" and "revealing their true opinion".

But for some reason when I combine two quotations with each other with OR, some results are omitted. For example, "revealing * true opinion" OR "betraying * * real" yields results for the latter quotation but not the former even though the former would generate results if it's on its own.

I am currently studying the effects of a reduced corporate income tax rate (CIT) (resulting from a R&D tax policy aimed at increasing R&D expenditures) on R&D spending. I want to see to what extent the reduced CIT stimulates R&D spending. In my dataset there'd be two CITs - 15% (reduced) and 25% (non-reduced) and the R&D spendings of 50 companies. I was planning on using regression analysis where I would have the level of CIT (in my case 15% and 25%) as an independent variable and R&D spending as a dependent variable, but unfortunately it turned out that it wouldn't work. I was wondering if I could use correlation but am not sure if I can do it for percentages and real numbers. Now I am looking for any other statistical methods that could help me examine both the strength and direction of the relationship.
