I want to simulate a DPM model with mesh disc like the first attached image.(thickness 0.03mm, hole size 3um)

In the flow field, air and micro water droplets would go through this mesh disc(only circle area), so I define the circle area with many tiny holes as porous zone.

But I'm not sure how to calculate the viscous resistance, C0, C1, and porosity in the porous zone.

By the way, could I use this model to check if any water droplets within a range of diameters can go through the mesh?(since we cannot define the hole sizes on the porous zone)

Hello, I am running an R&D human pre-mixed multi-analyte Kit (magnetic) using the Bio-Plex 200 system. I have run this kit many times before, but not for a few months recently. It looks like I have plenty of beads but they are not being read in the correct bead region and I have no idea why! I am planning to coat the plate with capture antibody over the weekend at 4 degree. I am not sure if that will make a difference than incubating overnight at room temperature which is what the protocol suggests.

I am currently doing protein docking using cytochrome P450 as the protein (created in Modeller) and palmitic acid as ligand.

After I create the gpf file (bamf.gpf) and want to run the autogrid4, no map files are created. I get the following error:

In the last decade, many papers have been published about using the Virtual synchronous generator (VSN), which represents a control strategy for inverters that are used in the renewable energy source-based distributed generators (DGs) for connection to the main power system network.

My question is: Is the VSG actually applied in some DG networks around the world, or is it still in the R&D phase?

I am passionate about differents subjects and conduct my own personal research for myself, just because I am curious. I wonder if this type of research would be considered as valid or ethical by the scientific community if it comes from a student who is still not holding a degree.

The PhD degree is now become like any other academic lower degrees, because the PhD scientists are not producing quality research OR R&D in industrial sectors. Except the top-notch institutions of the World, otherwise we have degraded the value of PhD degrees.

We have been doing invasion assays by coating transwell inserts with Matrigel, and setting up the invasion. The next day we removed the cells from the bottom of the insert (that have migrated through) using 10X dissociation buffer from R & D systems. This dissociation buffer is now unavailable. What else can I use?

After release of cells from bottom of insert, I want to add calcein-AM to stain the cells and then quantify using fluorescence.

In your opinion, what are likely to be new frontiers of research and development in next decade?

Generally radar detection algorithms to work in real time would require less computational complexity. CA-CFAR is good candidate algorithm in the presence of noise and when electronic counter measures/intentional interference is present, multiple detection comes in the R-D map. We have collected some real time data from mmWave sensor in the presence of ECM. Can any one of you suggest, which one is a good detection algorithms to detect the target in this scenario?. 1) Should one choose academia, or the industry (R&D) etc.? What are the pros and cons?

2) Should one find a Post Doctoral position first for 1-2 years. Then move towards an academic career as an Assistant Professor? Does the post-Doc cause a major difference to your career prospects?

3) Can one start an industry career after a Post-Doc?

4) In some countries, one can become an Assistant Professor right after PhD? is this Path advisable?

If one is working in R&D, the company allows/wants to publish information that proves claims of the company and its cutting-edge technology- Clearly, the company prevents the publication of any information that might harm its business. Additionally, the company has no interest in having an employee publishing reviews or anything else.

How can someone publish independently from the company?

For sake of argument, let's assume that one wants to write a review on his own time at home without any data acquired through the company.

Each replica is different from the previous one, I mean, it is not reproducible.

In order to analyze the impact of financial crisis on R&D Intensity, can I just take Type B firms and use panel data of year 2007 and 2009 and use First Difference Model to analyze the issue? I'm wondering if anyone can help with this. I work at the Wellcome Collections in London as a Research Development Specialist, and we are trying to move beyond working directly with universities and AHRC consortia to work with Early Career Researchers within the Humanities.

As I'm also a scholar myself I know all too well how important this is given the nature of precarious contracts, with researchers left for long periods between university affiliation and potentiaul missing out on opportunities that could, ironically, increase their chances of getting an academic post.

I wonder How long it take a new journal to get an official impact factor?

I want to know the impact of financial crisis on R&D spending of a firm. Data regarding 438 firms will be selected for two years i.e. 2007 and 2009. Firms will be categorized into treatment and control groups. Half will be in treatment and remaining in control group. Which regression model will be suitable for this analysis?

I am an engineer/researcher  developing code for finding feature parameters of irregular shaped 2d closed curves . For example a square has 4 corners and one width/height , circle infinite corners/radius, oval infinite corners/ 2 lengths major and minor. So I was wondering if we could have various measure for real life curves as found in US cardiac images such as width of the ventricles.Any help would be deeply appreciated.
