I have an issue with using material studio 2020 on my personal windows-based (12 cup cores) desktop for CASTEP Based DFT calculations from the solved CIF file. when I try to perform CASTEP calculation it gives an error of " not connected with server" . I saw some available answers related to this issue, like some people were saying remove the gateway service then one's can perform calculations on the same personal computer but all the time software failed to initiate calculations. I'm using XPS these days to analyze a set of nanomaterials that I am synthesizing. I'm getting familiar with the Avantage data processing tool that is installed on the computer attached to the XPS instrument. For learning the processing tool at my pace, I wanted to know if I can install it on my personal computer. Suggestions will be highly appreciated.

LandTrendr is a very good tool used to analyze the variation of Landsat time series data, which is very mature and perfect on GEE, however, due to the problem of network in different regions and cannot use GEE smoothly, at the same time, some time series data sets made by myself need to be processed on personal computer, therefore, how to implement LandTrendr using python language?
Hi, we have four old Fotodynes in our department which run on software that requires Windows XP. This is out of date with our university security, and thus these computers can't be on the network or hooked up to the internet. We have had issues in the past with using flash drives to get images and transfer of viruses since people hook them up to their personal computers.
Is there anyone who has rigged up an old Fotodyne (we have several of model 60-2105) to be compatible with a new software? Or have you put a new camera on it with an SD card? Or can you advise other solutions that aren't "buy entirely new machines" since money is always an issue? Thanks.

I want to ask three questions; the first question is: is the serial communication between PC and F28377s requires RS 232 cable or not. The second question: i want to communicate serially between PC and f28377s, what are the blocks and their libraries used in the target side and host side. The host PC side contains sine wave generator which is required to be sent to f28377s for processing and then returned back to PC. The target side contains gain which is required to be burnt on F28377s. Briefly i want to send sine wave from MATLAB simulink to F38377s to be gained and then returned back to PC to be read in scope in matlab. The third question is: the boot switches in f28377s which are located on its board, what are their functions in this application.

I was running an nscf calculation on my personal computer to compute band structure of a simple compound and I got this message:

5 processors were actually specified for this job. scf and relax calculation of the compound went on fine. I try setting the MCA parameter from the root user, and the same message still appear as I try running the calculation again.
Please friends, I heed help to solve this issue.

With the limited ability of personal computers, it is often impossible to do numerical calculations because it involves a very large number of cells, for example, with 10 million cells. This problem is usually experienced when facing problems with large geometric sizes. What do we do to reduce the number of cells in a numerical simulation, but give good results?

I want to simulate data traffic between a personal computer and a Smart Fushion2 system on chip (SF2). Data must be transmitted between the devices making use of the Robust Header Control Protocol compression standard and making use of the TCP/IP uncompressed standard. I would like to simulate the power usage in both cases.
Can someone please direct me to where I can find information on how to perform such a simulation on a personal computer.

Let's say, you're a computer scientist on your browser. You innocently browse the web, looking for a new book about procrastination (or anything else). Suddenly, a click lead you to the homepage of EvilCorpWorld, a (fictional) company incarnating the opposite of your ethical views.
EvilCorpWorld isn't a "common evildoer", they blatantly make the world a worst place. According to your ethical views, they could be enslaving children, selling weapons to warlords, practicing tax fraud at country scale, they support network promoting racism and sexism...
On the homepage of EvilCorpWorld, you inadvertently notice a big security flaw. Something like "click here for rootshell (Admin only!)". For the sake of simplicity, let's say it's an actual flaw, not a honeypot or anything else.
Now you have three possibility :
- to tell : email EvilCorpWorld to warn them about the huge flaw.
- to poke : like with a stick, poke the flaw, trying to see how far you can get. Poking does not mix with wrongdoing on purpose or for benefit. It's more a playful activity.
- to delegate : unsure of what to do, asking someone more versed in infosec what they think

i'm using gromacs for running Molecular Dynamics simulations for protein-ligand complex, but sadly i'm not able to mdrun on my personal computer for more than 20 hours which correspond to only 2 ns simulation time (the ligand seems to be stable with RMSD ranging from 0.2 to 0.5 A) , is it good enough to build my conclutions on it?
also, i've user access to a linux VPS (virtual private server) that is working 24/7, i may utilize it to run the simulations for longer period of time, but i'm not able to install gromacs on it since the installation requires root access and some tools like cmake are missing on the server, is there any portable binary of mdrun that works without installation or any ideas/suggestions to overcome this issue?
I am getting difficulty to shown simulation results on Diesel-RK software. I am attaching here the image showing error in displaying results. I am trying for remote access of this software on my personal computer (Laptop) with default IP address settings. If someone is working on this software, let me know. I need support urgent.
