I want to make a research on Effects of Partnership on Reading Remediation to raise level of Non Readers
Relevant answer
Answer
It is indeed going to be a greater challenge in this Digital world. It would have been easier earlier as there was a great craze for reading - I remember my own college days where we would not drop a novel until we finished reading it completely (used not only to be a thrill but, knowledge as well). The situation today is entirely different as the current generation depends MORE on the gadgets (Mobile/Calculator etc.) without taxing their brain which indeed is not a healthy sign. AI and ML (ChatGPT) have further reduced the strain of even getting through the exams - Cut and paste.
The only option you have at this juncture is to try your luck on 'Psychology' which may provide tips of the current status of one's mind before you thrust reading habit into them. All the best.

On 09/09/2000, I wrote this text for a discussion group among veterinarians. What would we say about this subject today?
Of something around 1500 infectious diseases cataloged by the World Health Organization, 200 are Zoonoses (diseases communicable from animals to humans).
The epizootiological and epidemiological behavior of certain newly emerging diseases, such as those caused by the Ebola virus, the Australian equine Morbillivirus, the Hantaviruses and the “Prions”, has generated some alarm in World Public Health.
However, the inconstant level of seriousness of action of the Health Surveillance, in the different levels of contingency, national, state and municipal, is what generates the determining factor of the appearance of epidemics or epizootics.
In a world scenario where globalization of activities merely focused on the commercial aspects of a devouring and elitist capitalism is discussed, it is up to us to scrutinize the stertorous yearnings of a sick and anemic Public Health in the Third World.
National health and agricultural defense policies, luxurious and extravagant in essence, created in a laboratory, disconnected from basic structuring actions aimed at collective health, are nothing more than technocratic premises and philosophical guidelines, totally divergent from the real peripheral contexts of “Africa”, “India” and “Brazil” with its droughts and mangroves, postcards of world misery.
Partnerships are created (G-7, “Merco of this, Merco of that”) with surrealist objectives, with the sole beneficiaries of powerful merchants, holders of maximized structures in “Markets” of capitalist life.
In this enigmatic context, Health (animal health and human health) is lacking and Zoonosis (anthropozoonosis and zooanthroponosis) begins to exceed.
And where are the health professionals who promised to always obey, in the exercise of their noble profession, the postulates of science, honor and charity?
Certainly, lost in dreams and ideals of mercantile practices, devoid of the basic principle of love for others, which should be embedded in their professional duties.
Many within the area of Public Health, create slogans and raise theoretical socialist flags. Being a Socialist is not preaching Marxism, communism and other “ideological aphorisms”, but following the simplicity of what is written in the biblical reference of John 13.34-35.
We need to pay more attention to World Public Health and to study and evaluate daily the progress of these Zoonoses, which seem to threaten the evolution of medical science human resources with greater speed and better strategy.
My question is:
In your opinion, why are zoonoses gaining greater repercussion in current public health? Has medical science awakened to the real problem? Was it driven by conflicts of interest? Or did it just reduce some bias in your and hypotheses?
Relevant answer
Answer
Zoonoses are a growing concern due to a number of variables, including their frequently unique and unpredictable nature, their capacity to appear anywhere and spread quickly throughout the world, and their significant financial impact on a variety of dissimilar industries, as well as economic losses due to medical care and absence from work due to illness.

Hello everyone!
I have a question regarding the conceptual/theoretical framework for qualitative research.
I know that you have to use the existing literature or theory to make a framework, but I was wondering if you can use only 3 concepts out of four concepts from one research.
For example, a key concept is why organizations form partnerships. Regarding this, one research discussed about four motives of why organizations form partnerships. In this case, can I use only three motives for my framework?
Also, another study suggested two other motivations. can I combine them with the one above?
Thank you in advance, and I will wait for your insights!
Relevant answer
Answer
In qualitative research, the extent to which you use a theoretical framework depends on how exploratory your study is. Often, you want to minimize your preconceptions, so you try to avoid using prior theory to structure your own data collection and analysis. In other cases, you may want to rely on broad concepts (e.g., partnership in this case), but not base your approach on the specifics that were used in previous studies.
The bottom line is that you have to clarify the purposes of your study, and then use that as a basis for selecting the degree to which you want to engage with the literature before you enter the field.

It seems that the issue is not only to develop a vaccine or an effective medical treatment, but is more related to the consequences of an unsanitary environement.
In almost 90 countries and territories, nearly half of the world population lives in areas at risk of malaria transmission.
According to WHO in 2020, 627,000 deaths and 241million clinical cases were caused by malaria. 95% of deaths cases were recorded in Africa.
The Roll Back Malaria partnership launched by WHO, UNICEF, UNDP and the World Bank in October 1998 could not succeed in controlling the spread of the disease.

“The global community has made tremendous progress toward health equity over the past 25 years, but these advances have not reached the world’s most remote communities. Deep in the rain forest, where people are cut off from transportation and cellular networks, mortality is the highest, access to health care is the most limited and quality of care is the worst. The World Health Organization estimates that one billion people go their entire lives without seeing a health worker because of distance. Health workers recruited directly from the communities they serve can bridge the gap. They can even fight epidemics such as Ebola and maintain access to primary care when health facilities are forced to shut their doors. My organization, Last Mile Health, now deploys more than 300 health workers in 300 communities across nine districts in partnership with the government of Liberia. But we can’t do this work alone. If the global community is serious about ensuring access to health care for all, it must invest in health workers who can reach the most remote communities.” —Raj Panjabi, co-founder and chief executive at Last Mile Health and instructor at Harvard Medical School

On Monday, 09 November, the African Union (AU) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a new partnership. At the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP 26) in Glasgow, the administrator of the USAID, Samantha Power, announced that the U.S. and the AU commission are launching a new partnership “to reach Paris agreement goals in reducing carbon emissions and building long-term adaptation plans in Africa”.
Given the following circumstances:
1) With Ethiopia, a strategic country as AU host, and a major power and a stabilizing force in the Horn of Africa crumbling,
2) With the AU being a dysfunctional organization, and
3) With the US being the most uncommitted country in the “fight” against climate-change on one hand and being a country that uses every opportunity to push its liberal economy agenda in Africa on the other,
I would like you to reflect on what this partnership means to the actual and potential victims of climate change-induced impacts.

So I have been working on a project discussing the various partnerships and collaboration strategies engaged by arts organizations with different stakeholders. Although we've been using partnerships and collaboration almost interchangeably in academic writing, I have some feelings that the two terms are different in practices, or they are related somehow but involving different degrees and types of inter-organizational relationships. I am wondering if anyone can point me to some sources discussing their similarities and differences. They can be cases from the arts and cultural sector or in general. Thanks!

In terms of Public-Private Partnership arrangements the incentive for private sector participation typically has to do with an appropriately weighted risk for return model.
However not all social services and Infrastructure that are termed critical present ample return as a basis for partnership e.g affordable housing, roads, power, and water within low-income countries and populations.

These might be helpful:
Additionally, the government can come up with ideas such as Social Sector VGF to support the PPP projects. In this way alternate finance could be raised for projects related to slum revelopment, wash facility, hospital construction etc.
Since the project development cost of infrastructure projects are high, Infrastructure Project Development Fund could be started by government for providing project formulation costs of PPP and other infrastructure project.
An Institutional Framework needs to be created to provide and support increasing role of VGF and PPP. This could be a three tier institution:
  • Empowered Committee on Infrastructure Development (Approving Committee)
  • PPP Cell (Nodal Agency)
  • Respective Administrative Departments (Implementing Agencies)
The framework will help in identification, development and execution of project under PPP modality. It can help in setting terms and conditions under which funding could be provided and in resolution of inter departmental issues.

I would say that - for some - they have more time to do the things that they always meant to do, but perhaps didn't get around to and this might include....
  • updating your CV/resume and any online profiles (LinkedIn/RG etc)
  • contacting your old networks and peers to catch up and share/explore opportunities
  • writing up your ideas and work for publication (not just in academic press, but online or in business/industry magazines/journals) - this could include completing work started but not finished and new things too
  • plan and carry out personal development activities (as simple as reading something new every day, to undertaking online or other courses)
  • think about the emerging world on online/in-person blended working and if possible, work on your online working environment (background/workspace)
These are some of the things that I have heard others talk about - I thought I'd share them as either affirmation of your ideas/tips, or as something different.
I hope your article proves popular and useful for folks who might be struggling.

What is important to me, as an architect, is to analyze if and how the project of architecture (with all its implications such as process activation, governance, authorizations, involved subjects etc.) could help to extract a system of rules (such as guidelines) that structurally derives from experimentation and to which conform the regulatory framework.
Moreover, it would be interesting to analyze how these temporary experiences are related to the long-term revitalization projects they are activating.
Bottom-up initiatives / private-public partnerships / institutional or self-managed project are all good example to me. Thank you!

education partnership with an external sector called privatization?  Or is the concept of privatization different from partnership?
Note I mean partnership only on the financial side.
Relevant answer
Answer
This is a great question! I have included a link below to an article we published on this topic. As we note in the piece, in education---unlike other sectors --the difference between partnership and privatization is very nuanced (for reasons we discuss). While there are many reasons for this, we contend that history and power dynamics plays a huge role here.
For example, we can assume a "partnership" between Apple and Tesla would create a relationship--a partnership--where both have relatively equal power (I am speaking loosely here). As powerful technology companies they each exhibit dominance per se in their respective spheres. In public education, however, there is a history of dominant sectors--like business and technology-- exerting significant control over schools/leaders/LEAs. Arguably, in these scenarios "partnerships" can begin to morph into a mix of colonialism (a dominant culture taking over the other) or, as has been the case in some instances, outright policy shifts in favor of the dominant partners. The latter could be considered privatization. As is often the case, it is subtle---you have to pay close attention to what this looks like, how it manifests. And as with colonialism in other scenarios it is not always rooted in bad intentions. It is always about power. Great question, Ghalba Aldaajani ! Hope this helps.

An inventor is a person who has made an active and decisive contribution to an essential, innovative and non-obvious element of the invention that led to its development.
If the technology you’ve developed is not tied to any industrial partner and it has commercial potential, it is recommended to establish a partnership.
The commercialization process is a sequence of activities, the goal of which is to transfer the technology to a company. It aims to increase the value of the research results from a social and economic perspective.
Under this process, researchers, whether faculty members, professionals or students, work closely with the research advisor and the commercialization advisor to find a vehicle for the new technology, either by launching a new business or licensing it to an existing one.

Your input is much appreciated.
Relevant answer
Answer
You can search the internet for funding in your area of research. You need to write a lot of research proposals. Develop thick skin to rejection; many proposals will likely be rejected. That is where collaboration comes in, you need to identify experienced researchers in your area of research interest. This is not simple, you may have to write emails, visit them physically, do Skype meetings to convince them of your intention to collaborate with them.

"Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs," according to the Brundtland Report. To note, instead of a holistic approach to and temporal processes toward development that might lead us to the end-point of sustainability, some advocate a focus on sustainability, full stop, as the rightful goal of human–ecosystem equilibrium (homeostasis). But, while sustainable development (never mind sustainability) may be a pipe dream—or what this query refers to as a myth—there can is no doubt that the Sustainable Development Goals are not: difficult to achieve as they may be, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals come with targets to be measured with indicators. What else do we have at hand if the Sustainable Development Goals do not suffice? Global economic growth per person, led by emerging economies and a population that topped 7.3 billion in 2015 (and is now at 7.7 billion), are putting great stress on the earth's ecosystems. Pressures are both global and local: they impinge simultaneously on such crucial earth systems as the carbon, nitrogen, and water cycles. It is obvious that mankind is pushing ecosystem functions past thresholds. The earth could suffer sudden, non-linear, and potentially devastating outcomes from climate change, environmental pollution, acidification of the oceans, loss of biodiversity, and depletion of fossil resources, including energy and groundwater. Like it or not, the shared focus on the triple bottom line of economy, environment, and society that the Sustainable Development Goals represent is a consensus on which the world can build: if no-growth (never mind degrowth) is not an option, there is no alternative.

Key to realizing the circular economy is the ability and motiviation of actors along the value chain to collaborate for practical solutions. For example, actors from the waste industry need to deliver secondary raw materials to manufacturers in the necessary quality and quantity. Packaging R&D needs to incorporate the end-of-life (biological cycle or recycling) into packaging design following a design-for-recycling approach. Probably, we need to study network and partnership approaches more intensively to understand successfull CE practices.

Hello Erik,
There is a wealth of experience in building cross-sectoral linkages facilitated by the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP). NISP was initiated in the UK in the early 2000s and has been rolled out around the world ever since by International Synergies. Find our more here http://www.nispnetwork.com/
NISP has been studied extensively by people such as Paul D. Jensen. I have also published a few papers on the subject of building cross-sectoral networks, whether facilitated or "self-organised". In my view, identifying possible resource linkages across sectors through network facilitation is fairly easy, but realising and maintaining them is another matter.
UK government support for NISP has largely ceased since 2012. However, with the recent introduction of the Resources and Waste Strategy the subject of facilitating circular economy is back on the public agenda, find out more here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/resources-and-waste-strategy-for-england/resources-and-waste-strategy-at-a-glance. The idea, which is under investigation, is to facilitate circular economy through local resource efficiency clusters. It's a (re-)start but more facilatitive efforts will be required to realise the benefits of the significant proportion of potential longer-range exchanges of secondary resources as well.
Getting support for cross-sectoral approaches within government can be challenging because strategies and policies have a tendency to be sector-focused. One solution put forward is the restructuring of industrial classifications to include "circular economy sectors" such as reuse, repair and remanufacturing that span other sectors. Following that, one could develop strategies for circular economy strategies. It's a lot of work and surely requires more thought..
Kind regards,
Anne

  • University as partner, or
  • Research center as partner
... of a project called Ne.Mo. which consists in a mobile app (with an integrated AI system) aimed to improve cognitive functioning of breast cancer patients, and contrast the cancer-related cognitive impairment (also known as chemobrain), by using personalized physical exercise program.
Currently, all the main world organizations related to cancer reccomand physical exercise as part of the oncologic therapy. However, in several Countries, like Italy, exists a gap between science and practice. Indeed, at least in Italy, medical doctors know that exercise is a powerful tool to improve the therapeutic effects and the general condition of a cancer patient. But, on one hand, they don't have a exercise science background to prescribe it and, on the other hand, there are very few specialized center in which is possible to find some cancer exercise personal trainer expert.
Our team is composed by 13 master and PhD students in different fields, such as psychology, exercise science, computer engineer, law, economy, medicine, neuroscience, marketing, data analysis, and so on.
We are part of a program called "Dock3 Training" (http://www.dock3.it/dock3training/) which is a business training course organized by the University of Roma Tre. In less than 2 months we have to present our idea to ask some funds to lunch our social startup. However, we want to go beyond this training course because we believe that this app could really help people with cancer and lead them to do physical exercise to improve their quality of life. So, we can create an Italian version of this app and other versions based on your country.
If you are interested in receive more details of our idea, please, contact me by answering to this post, contacting me on RG, or sending me an email (neuroscienzedelmovimento@gmail.com // antonio.defano.gf@gmail.com)

Taking into consideration the fact that the country does not want to change its previous institutional decision, to my mind, Sweden should become a member if it can change its policy, because nowadays is under a threat. Furthermore, I am thinking of using path dependence theory as a reflector of the institutional traditions of this country. Hello,
I am currently doing research on standards for research collaboration standards or benchmarks. Some recent initiatives such as the 'Research Fairness Initiative' point to the SDG #17 'Partnership for Development'. This goal seems to be the continuation of the MDG #8.
Can you recommend articles or short histories of how these two goals evolved during the drafting process of the MDG and SDG?
Thanks in advance!

Dear Antonio, thanks for your answer and its entailed hints at the Brundlandt Commission, to Rachel Carson and the necessary focus on our natural environment that needs to be safeguarded. I will follow up on them and take with me that there is yet to be found a concise history of this partnership narrative. As far as I can see, there is quite some critique about the partnership-rethorics on the development political level since its inception in the 1990s.

I often see publications and articles saying that South-South Cooperation (SSC) is a partnership among equals, or a least that is how it should be.
But I am interested to know if it really is? Does any one have something interesting that questions this or even disproves that SSC is not always a developmental paradigm between equals?
Relevant answer
Answer
South–South cooperation is something of an umbrella term that describes the exchange of resources, technology, and knowledge between developing countries. (To my mind, even if cooperative agreements are commonly framed as a means to enhance strategic resources, the more important rationale is always the intent to learn.) This said, asymmetries between parties do (naturally) exist, which of course explains why they partner in the first place. Knowledge-related asymmetries, for example, fall in three categories: (i) information, (ii) knowledge, and (iii) learning. Capabilities in each will have a different effect on the individual performance of partners, the realization of objectives, and the stability of the cooperative agreement. And so, yes, South–South cooperative agreements should not be sold as if they were partnerships of equals. Therefore, the least that partners should do is to be conscious of that so they may, proactively, work together to resolve variegated differences and enhance overall effectiveness.

A joint call for research project proposals between Portugal and Algerian scientists / researchers is now available, and invite all local scientists / researchers wishing to participate, to submit their proposals.
The coordination of the program’s activities and its piloting is placed under the responsibility of two focal points: Thematic Agency of Research in Sciences and Technology for the Algerian part and Foundation for Science and Technology for the Portuguese part.
I'm interested to develop a mutual project in the domainof oncology.
