Carbonate Reservoir Characterization: Part 07
1. To what extent, a reservoir engineer will be able to evaluate (a) fluid properties; (b) fractional flow characteristics of rock; (c) formation pressure; and (d) directional permeabilities - in a carbonate reservoir?
Feasible to identify the physical processes responsible for the deviation between ‘a flood simulator history match’ with that of ‘the actual field production history’?
Feasible to deduce the details of fractional fluid production of each zone, in each well? Feasible to identify, whether, the fluid contacts keep moving in the reservoir? Which of the various zones, exactly, produce water, oil and gas? Feasible to ensure, whether, the pay keeps moving because of water or gas encroachment? Where exactly (which zone), the external fluids are getting injected into the reservoir? Feasible to have a control over the rates at which, various zones in a well, need to be produced? Feasible to make a comparison between the production rates of each zone with that of their respective zone’s potential? Feasible to deduce, whether, are there, any portion of the oil field that requires additional well?
2. To what extent, a production engineer will be able to assess
(a) pay zone distribution in the vertical direction;
(b) the requirement of stimulation;
(c) reservoir compatible fluids;
(d) the nature of injection profile;
(e) the evolution pattern of volumetric production results;
(f) required tuning methodologies for history matching; and
(g) finding efficient ways to bridge the gaps between pore-scale, core-scale and pilot-scale studies with that of the real field scenario – in a carbonate reservoir?
To what extent, the presence of unperforated or incomplete productive zones would hinder the oil recovery factors in a carbonate reservoir?
Feasible to delineate the thief zones with ease – that remains to be closed off? Feasible to ensure whether the completion intervals have zonal isolation integrity?
Feasible to deduce precisely, whether, how long, will, each wellbore, would remain to be usable efficiently?
3. To what extent, drilling engineer will be able to assess
(a) the pressures encountered @ various locations spatially and temporally within the pay zone thickness;
(b) the evolution of fracture gradients;
(c) the nature of rock integrity during drilling; and
(d) the requirement of compatible drilling muds – in a carbonate reservoir?
4. To what extent, facilities engineer will be able to assess
(a) whether, the production is going to be oil, gas and/or water;
(b) the evolution of production rates; and
(c) the nature of produced fluid properties – in a carbonate reservoir?

Is there a subvertical zones over oil and gas deposits? What physical parameters you found?
Reservoir Engineering
1. Feasible to capture the transition between (a) and (b) @ laboratory-scale?
(a) where, an oil phase gets disconnected into blobs (and remain strongly influenced by local pressure field near a flood front, which mostly remain to be transient - even in a steady-state displacement process); and remain trapped and the way the oil/water menisci gets migrated @ pore-scale;
(b) where, continuous mobility of water/oil/gas phases occur @ macroscopic-scale, where averaged quantities are both interpolated as well as extrapolated?
2. If displacement of oil from water-wet porous sedimentary rock by water-flooding leads to an entrapment of a considerable fraction of oil, then,
would it remain feasible to capture the role of buoyancy and inertial forces in addition to the interplay between capillary and viscous forces @ laboratory-scale?
3. If pore-level displacement is initiated by an externally imposed flow, then, how exactly to capture the complex interplay between local topology and pore-scale geometry with capillarity along with the complex interplay between buoyancy, inertial and viscous forces?
Even, if we manage to capture such complex physics, how could we capture the spontaneous rupture of an oil neck (choke-off) and its associated spontaneous withdrawal of head meniscus out of a pore body @ lab-scale?
4. Can we deduce the details on the length distribution of blobs towards determining the oil recovery efficiency upon mobilizing the entrapped oil blobs by lowering IFT @ lab-scale?
If each curved meniscus supports a difference in oil and water pressure resulting from its associated IFT, then, would it remain feasible to distinguish the interface between oil and water within a water-wet reservoir into zones that consists of a meniscus which essentially obey Young-Laplace equation of capillary hydrostatics; and those zones that connect the menisci (zones of positive/negative Gaussian curvatures associated with the menisci of oil-water interface) @ laboratory-scale?
If so, how exactly the physics of thin films along with capillary hydrostatics will be up-scaled to Darcy-scale?
5. In EOR applications, whether any meniscus would be able to move by spontaneously developing excess capillary pressure that would cause oil to flow?
6. Feasible to ensure that a jump (when a pore body gets evacuated of oil and filled with water) remains more likely to be upstream than downstream, which would make the displacement front more stable, while oil entrapment remaining less frequent @ lab-scale?
7. If displacement of oil or any non-wetting fluid from an initially saturated porous medium by water or any wetting fluid consists of advancement of head menisci (jumps); consequent break-offs and choke-offs of neck menisci; and creation of isolated oil or non-wetting fluid blobs in the process, which remain to be deterministic and reproducible, then, can we replicate the above physics @ lab-scale?
Hello everyone and thank you for reading/answering my question.
I have found that Petrel software can be used in conjunction with MATLAB to create plug in or access datasets and other features (workflow, create window...etc.).
I have also found that we can connect Petrel with Visual Studio using C# language via a library in visual studio supported by Schlumberger.
My question is there something similar in Python to create a plug in for Petrel or create a custom workflow for Petrel?
Thanks
Role of Fluid Dynamics in Petroleum Engineering
1. How did petroleum industry manage to wait up to 1982
in order to study the action of water, oil and gas
using the concept of ‘fluid potential’?
Even otherwise, how efficiently,
the petroleum industry managed
to gain the improved understanding of
controls over hydrocarbon migration and accumulation;
and its associated energy distribution
in a sedimentary basin
using the concept of fluid potential –
reintroduced by Dahlberg in 1982 in petroleum industry?
Have we efficiently used
the concept of ‘fluid potential’
by referring to the characteristics and variations
of the field of ‘hydrocarbon potential energy’ –
towards ‘predicting’
‘the direction of hydrocarbon migration’ and
‘the favorable areas for accumulation in a studied area’
@ different periods?
2. Can we comfortably extend
Hubbert’s concept of fluid potential
(1940, 1953: the amount of work required to transport a unit mass of water/oil/gas from an arbitrary position to the point of interest)
to the calculation of ‘gas potential’ in the fluid potential field’?
Or
Should we better apply England’s concept of fluid potential
(1987: the amount of work required to transfer a unit volume of water/oil/gas from a reference condition to the reservoir condition) for the calculation of ‘gas potential’ in the fluid potential field’ as it takes into account the compressibility of natural gas?
3. To what extent, the ‘fluid dynamic force’
actually influence the ‘scale of a fluid potential’
as a function of its principal components
(a) buoyancy;
(b) stratigraphic pressure;
(c) capillary pressure; and
(d) hydrodynamic forces;
acting simultaneously @ various scales?
4. Will it become an approximation,
if we estimate ‘oil potential’
using ‘Hubbert’s oil potential’,
where the interfacial energy
arising from the capillary pressure
within the reservoir
is assumed to be negligible?
Or
Wise to estimate ‘oil potential’
using ‘England’s oil potential’
that actually takes into consideration
of the role of the interfacial energy
arising from the capillary pressure
in the reservoir, while also,
allowing, to comfortably calculate
the oil-bearing saturation
in the reservoir
under the action of the interface
by applying Darcy’s equation?
RESERVOIR SIMULATION
1. Whether the reduction from three-dimensional to two-dimensional numerical algorithms – associated with the migrations of water/oil/gas in large-scale reservoir simulations – towards characterizing water-oil-gas flow system in a petroleum reservoir – would “comfortably/precisely” allow the analysis on the dynamics of water/oil/gas flow system and its associated propagation of water/oil/gas displacement fronts?
If not, to what extent, the reduction into 2D (from 3D) analysis would have an impact on the efficiency of the overall oil recovery process?
Whether the initial saturation distributions of water, oil & gas – associated with such a relatively simpler two-dimensional reservoir simulation would significantly impact the predictions on ‘variations in reservoir rock and fluid properties’?
2. When we solve water/oil/gas flow system through a petroleum reservoir – governed by a set of non-linearly coupled transient PDEs, whether water, oil and gas remain ‘continuous’ ‘at least @ macroscopic-scale’ – ‘throughout the simulation period’?
If not, to what extent, would it impact the assessment of the primary variables that relates velocity fields to the pressure fields through Darcy’s law; and that estimates the saturation distribution through a convective diffusion equation?
3. How exactly the selected numerical algorithms would be able to solve the moving time-dependent oil-water, oil-gas & water-gas interfaces within an oil-water-gas system – with nearly discontinuous water, oil and gas saturation profiles – in the presence of reservoir regions with steep variations in permeability?
4. If the propagation velocity for the moving displacement front remains determined by the water/oil/gas pressure fields; and if these pressure fields remain a strong function of the saturation through the relative permeability functions; then, to what extent, the semi-implicit methods would do justice – in the absence of fully synchronizing both the pressure as well as saturation fields in time?
Global Energy Market: Feasible to quarantine Fossil Fuel Energy?
1. Whether the debility in investment towards oil, gas, coal and low-carbon fuel supply is only ‘a brief tumult’ – resulting from the enforcement of externally induced policies @ global-scale?
OR
Albeit with exorbitant fuel prices, with the net income - for world’s Oil & Gas producers – reaching towards USD 5 Trillion, will the investments on fossil fuels would ever continue to decline either @ regional-scale or @ global-scale - at least for the next couple of decades?
2. Albeit ‘global energy investment’ remains central towards tackling the major current energy crisis such as pushing the globe towards the so called ‘net zero pathway’, while ostensibly stimulating the economic recovery (in terms of renewables, grids & storage accounting for more than 80% of total power sector investment), does it really boot out the gravity on consumers – as the total energy bill paid by the world’s consumers crosses USD 10 Trillion?
3. With world energy investment approaching towards 10%, whether the global energy investments (amounting to nearly USD 3 billion) are really backing the energy projects that remain automatically aligned with the long-term goals?
Or
Are they just tending to address - more towards - the exigent short-term needs?
4. With higher costs - for almost anything and everything on one hand, and with possible ‘cost inflation’ with time on the other hand, will a plot between ‘additional capital investment in the next 5 years’ Vs ‘additional energy supply capacity brought out in the next 5 years’ – would really favor (a) renewable energy; or (b) fossil fuel energy?
Even, if it happens to be renewable energy, would it pave the way towards a more secure future – leaving aside the cleaner aspect?
5. How should we consider the shifting focus of wind-power from on-shore to off-shore? Whether the investments on onshore wind-power gets detached with ‘improved efficiency’?
6. Whether the supply chain issues associated with critical minerals and with the significant shortage of semi-conductors @ global-scale, whether the electrification of mobility (electric vehicles) require a reconsideration (as the most of the EV sales are associated only with China & Europe)?
Or
Should we get convinced with the ‘higher growth rates’ by ignoring the relatively lesser absolute investments?
7. What are we supposed to understand from the relatively smaller investments on clean energy – across much of the developing world (excluding China)?
8. Whether 10 crore people from Asia & Africa (with emerging & developing economies) will be able to afford to pay for their basic energy needs – given this energy transition towards clean energy investment?
Or
Will we be heading towards back to square one – in the absence of any other sustainable developments – than relying ‘fossil fuels’?
Could you please clarify the theories related to energy and environmental pollution, I have to build arguments on the relationship between coal, oil, gas, and pollution.
1- Energy cost theory?
2- Energy LED theory?
3- EKC theory?
4- any other (please specify)?
I am searching for any specific peer reviewed journal related to business continuity management within the various energy industries to support my masters dissertation.
In the context of ‘Characterizing Fluid Flow through a Petroleum Reservoir’,
Whether the concept of ‘reservoir-pressure’ (as an individual) remains as a potential quantity?
Or
‘Reservoir-pressure’ is just one of the components of the ‘total potential quantity’?
Can we apply the classical definition of ‘potential’ in terms of the work done during the flow process of water, oil & gas within a petroleum reservoir?
If so, whether the work done in moving a unit mass of water, oil & gas between any two points in a petroleum reservoir will really reflect the measure of the energy loss of the unit mass of water, oil & gas (at least in a under-saturated reservoir)? Can we extend the same concept to a saturated reservoir?
Will it be feasible to apply the Hubbert’s definition of potential in terms of the direction of water, oil & gas flow from the regions of ‘higher to lower’ ‘mechanical energy per unit mass of water, oil & gas’ within a petroleum reservoir?
For a multi-phase fluid flow through a petroleum reservoir, can we comfortably quantify ‘the loss in potential, kinetic & elastic energies precisely so that the ‘fluid potential’ can be deduced?
Can we consider the velocity of gas to be extremely low (albeit considering the velocity of water and oil to be extremely low) so that the resulting kinetic head can be neglected – associated with the estimation of ‘fluid potential’?
Oil and gas, both being compressible fluids, the density of oil & water will become a function of reservoir-pressure; and if so, can we comfortably quantify the ‘loss in elastic energy’?
On 29 December 2020, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 on the Richter scale rocked near town Petrinja (Sisak-Moslavina county, Croatia), with an epicenter 5 km west-southwest of the town and at a depth of about 10 km. Before this event there were some foreshocks and aftershocks, the strongest were about 5 on the Richter scale. Officals announce that half of this town has been destroyed. The earthquake was felt throughout northern Croatia, as well as in many nearby countries.
Among other things, Marija Smolić (4th grade - Juraj Baraković High School Zadar) writes in her communication “Oil exploitation in Croatia: ... As already mentioned, Moslavina has a long tradition of oil exploitation. Although oil began to be extracted in 1854 by hand, until the beginning of the 20th century. there were no significant successes in oil production in Moslavina. There are 18 oil fields in the Sava Valley, but not all fields are operational. Stružec is the largest oil and gas field in Moslavina, but also one of the largest in Croatia. Along with Stružec, the most abundant fields in the Sava Valley are Žutica and Ivanić”. So, the oil and gas fields nearby to Petrinja were/are highly exploited. Stružec is only about 30 km from this town.
Reports say that the strongest earthquake near Petrinja was occurring at relatively shallow depth of about 10 km, followed by numerous intensive aftershocks at rather shallower depths (some of them even at a depth of about 1 km). In my opinion, increased and prolonged seismicity of the in the devastated region of Petrinja-Sisak-Moslavina is possible induced by oil/gas exploitation. This possibility is also indicated by the occurrence of numerous mud eruptions and huge holes in this area.
Hi all,
As is known that the reservoir condition of a EGS is quite special with high temperature and high in-situ stress. Thus, the hydraulic fracturing operation for EGS reservoir should also be quite different with that for oil/gas recovery. Can you make some detailed comparisons between the two operation processes and the requirments of the stimulation results?
Thanks,
Bo
I need your perspective about energy efficiency improvement using simulation software (e.g. Petro-Sim), how it is linked to process optimization, digital transformation, capacity building, culture change, or business excellence.
I need your inputs regarding industry in general and to some extent focusing on oil & gas or petrochemicals.

Hi,
I hope you are all well,
My name is Ruben, and I am a student of International Accounting and Finance. Currently, I am on the last step, doing the dissertation that I want to name it as " Relationship between the educational background of the CEO and the firm financial performance: from the UK evidence".
I am mainly focusing on two objectives:
- Level of education ( bachelor's, MSc, PhD)
- Type of education ( business and economics or different)
- Firm Performance (Return on Assets)
The issue is that I want to make it more extensive, but I am not sure if is right to include a third objective:
- business and economics CEO performs better in the financial industry rather than other industries like oil & gas, as every industry is different in ROA aspects.
I look forward to your answers,
Kind regards,

Hello All,
Are there algae / microalgae species that can grow in a produced water from oil/gas production that has TDS around 75000 ppm?
I know that the Aspen Tech is used in the field of oil and gas process. But is it possible to simulate a wastewater treatment process by using this software.
I'm interested in low carbon steel for oil and gas line-pipe. Some steel made after 1950 has higher cobalt content (0.015-0.040%) than pre-1945 steel (<0.008%). I'm wondering how much of the cobalt was intentional (and why?) and how much is residual from recycling (from what products?).
It is said that fossil fuels, particularly oil & gas, comsuption is the main cause of carbon dioxide production that leads to global warming in the last 40 years or so....
If these fuels were not blamed, could any research on cleaner (greener) energies had been easily justified, being so costly? Does anyone have the idea of how much just exponential population increase impacts global temperature? It is clear that the northern hemisphere is the more affected one by this actual temperature increase. Should we start thinking of controlling expansion of human beings on Earth for the sake of the planet (pollution & contamination reduction) and our own survival? Just out loud thinking!!!!

Currently, I am doing some projects in the biggest oil and gas company in Iran,
In a specific factory,as an example, we have six turbines and six electric motors and these important machines are facing serious problems such as different types of failures ,many defects during their production process and so on.
what improvement tools do you suggest for reducing the failures and defects of these machines and improvement the current situation of the factory?
To what extent, are we compromising Darcy’s law, when we characterize the oil/gas flow within a petroleum reservoir?
Does the fundamental physics associated with the Darcy’s law not change significantly while applying it for the above application?
Darcy’s law requires that any resistance to the flow through a porous medium should result only from the viscous stresses induced by a single-phase, laminar, steady flow of a Newtonian fluid under isothermal conditions within an inert, rigid and homogeneous porous medium.
I'm trying to put together an article on the Manchester Earthquake Swarm and the oil and gas seismic lines of the 1980s that cut across it. A good photo would make the article better and more interesting for Mancunians who live in the area of the now long-gone swarm but remember it. Cheers! Robin
I have an MSc student doing a dissertation project on process fault detection and control. The student is really keen to find an application from the Oil and Gas industry. I wonder if anyone has found or is aware of a challenge or benchmark problem that might be useful?
Hello,
Now the world is warm in developing new generation cars using electricity. The goal is that vehicles become more environmentally friendly and minimize global warming. Will the generation of fossil fuel vehicles be over soon? easy as that? try to see it in the next ten years. Thanks very much.

.I would really appreciate if anyone could link me up.
The human race has achieved distinction in fields of culture, traditions, beliefs and inventions, but has grossly failed to secure their future or even plan for it by ignoring the signs nature has been throwing at them. We know how to build, use electricity, run huge machines and even go to space, but we fail to instill small measures like turning off lights when not in use or even throwing paper in the bins.
To tackle the impending disaster that might have hit the world, the UK Government signed the Kyoto Treaty in 1997, which came into force in February 2005. Under this agreement, 164 countries have committed to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. The Paris Agreement of December 2015 is meant to signal the beginning of the end of more than 100 years of fossil fuels serving as the primary engine of economic growth and shows that governments from around the world take climate change seriously. The inclusion of both developed and developing countries, including those that rely on revenue from oil and gas production, demonstrates a unity never seen before on this issue.
I have come up with objective but i feel it is too generalised. Can anybody guide me on this as cybersecurity is a new field for me? My aim and objective of the study so far are:
"the main objective of this study is to establish a resilient and sustainable sector-specific cybersecurity framework for the oil and gas sector of UAE taking into consideration the physical, human, and cyber factors in order to achieve and maintain security advantage. The sub-objectives of the research are:
1. To explore the theory, methods, and applications of systems analysis for cybersecurity (including software, hardware, physical and human)
2. To establish linkages to other subject areas such as risk management, systems engineering, and strategic decision-making. In particular, there is a need to approach cybersecurity risks from a multi-scale, systems perspective, recognizing the diverse interactions among cyber, physical, and human systems.
3. To review the knowledge and experiences of existing cyber security frameworks implemented within organizations, to assist in understanding shortcomings and implementation of cybersecurity framework."

I am conducting a research on Knowledge sharing & retention within Pakistan's Oil & Gas research. Can you please suggest me a reputable journal which doesn't charge hefty & high publication fees?
You can agree or not with this article, but I am sharing it to highlight few points for considerations:
- How can an oil and gas company or a water intensive company (beverage company) be ranked high in sustainability. Someone may say why not if these companies are generating 100% renewable energy and recycling 100% its waste. Then I say the problem is in the definition of what make a sustainable company and sustainable business model.
- Should the ESG criteria for investing be similar in all markets? If we assume beverage companies are OK to operate in countries with plenty of water, this does not mean this company should operate in countries where people walk for 3-10 kilometres to get water?
More or less similar policies are followed for renewable energy all over the world. Nevertheless, local conditions affect the formulation of an effective policy. In this context, what should be the main feature of renewable energy policy for a major oil producing country in contrast to the policy of other countries?
i want to analyse how can three pillars affect the procurement perfomance (time, quality and price).
these three pillars are: competition in the market, complexity of the furnitures, and the experience of the buyer.
i do this research about the furnitures of SONATRACH (algerian oil and gas company).
...but i found a big problem how to construct the survey, can you help me a littel bit ???
On one hand, seismic inversion (oil-and-gas E&P) is the procedure for reconstructing earth properties from seismic data (Aki et al.,1977; Aki and Richards, 1980; Bishop et al., 1985; Tarantola, 1987). We are transforming seismic relative impedance contrast into a quantitative rock-property description of a reservoir, at a sedimentary basin-scale.
It may be two main scenarios: prestack or poststack. The prestack elastic impedance combines the benefits framework in which we calibrate and invert non-zero-offset data, with P-wave, S-wave and density logs from key-wells. The purpose is to show the desired fluid anomalies (oil and gas). So, we need the far offset traces / wide-angle trace. Solution is not unique: In a typical 3D seismic survey, the sources and receivers are located only over a portion of the area of interest, not at whole area. And, the solution should depend continuously on the data, otherwise the solution could be unstable, and is important to calibrate with logs. We use commercial E&P seismic inversion softwares, the most common such as H&R, Interwell, Petrel...
On the other hand, wide-angle seismic have the potential to provide detailed knowledge about structures in the Crust and Upper Mantle, studying the relationship between P-wave velocity and density (gravity inversion). There is empirical velocity and density experimental functions over main regions of the world, based on both: lab tests and well-log data, of course, with a range of uncertainties of the relation between velocity and density, in contrast with the E&P Gardner’s relationship, for example.

Greetings dear community,
Today, I have a question about reworked organic matter. In fact, I am actually working on a project in Frasnian hot shales with cutting/core samples in which I have to determine the maturity through microscopic observation.
We analysed samples of cores and cuttings from very close depths in the same well. These show show a similar trend, but with a clear contamination in the cutting samples coming most likely from cavings or poor cleaning prior to sampling. The Tmax in cuttings averages 439 in contrast to the 458-460°C in core samples.
This is further proven with HI values. For these samples, which are around 90% AOM and thus considered as type I organic matter (marine environment), the HI values for the cuttings (which are early mature) are quite low (150-170) whereas the values in the core samples (mature samples with a long due oil phase generation and close to dry gas) average 25-30 (type I OM produces its essential potential in the oil phase).
After determining that cutting samples are contaminated, my problem now is that I have reworked OM in my core samples. I can see it in my slides, but I lack some knowledge to do some quality identification and quantification of this reworked OM. for the plus side, this observation of mine correlates well with pyrolysis results (TOCs = 4-4.5% for S2s = 1.2-1.5 mg/g).
I need some references to read more about this subject. If anyone has some information on this, be it articles or books (or their own experience!!), it would be really helpful to me.
Best regards,
Yacine

Top of the Line Corrosion is now considered as a major concern for pipeline integrity and is taken into account in the design of any new gas field development.TLC is predominantly a problem of protection in the gas phase. The main parameters influencing TLC are the temperature of the fluid, the CO2 and H2S partial pressures, the concentration of organic acids, the gas velocity and the condensation rate.
Utilizing corrosion inhibitors that also known as Vapor Phase Corrosion Inhibitors (VPCI), is currently the most common method of corrosion protection. The goal of my question is to find the best method to evaluate a wide variety of Top of the Line Corrosion Inhibitors in order to choose the best candidate which is effective in acidic environment.

Freeze drying is one of the options was recommended to me. Which I did already after I put my sample in -80 overnight and then placed the sample in freeze dryer for one day at - 100 degree . the sample melt again( return to the normal condition, oily).
any recommendation and advice will be appreciated.
Oil and gas production operations
I have been studying on the application of laser drilling in the oil and gas industry. There have been studies for use of lasers in well completions, perforations. What is the applicability of laser drilling techniques in conventional/unconventional drilling?
Now a daya we are listening terms like, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of things(IOT), digitization, that are going to ruin the next decade. In that aspect i want to know the significance of the term digitization.
New technologies may it be process or catalysis etc. for refining and petrochemical sectors?
What international methodologies are used to measure risk in these cases?
How can we measure radioactivity in such operations?
The following question was recently posted on research gate:
Does surfactant reduce liquid-liquid interfacial tension more than gas-liquid surface tension?
The reason for this behavior was attributed to the presence of cohesive and non-cohesive isotherms in water/gas vs water/oil adsorption of surfactants. The cohesive pressure was one of the reason for the lower decrease in water/gas surface tension compared to water/oil surface tension.
Does this cohesive pressure phenomena occur in oil/gas interfaces, and is there a study which observes this behavior?
To perfect ownership in the oil and gas beneath your property, you need to be associated with a well - What happens to a farmer who owns a land with a potential oil/gas resource in the absence of a oil/gas well (in particular - INDIA)?
its a huge concern from the major oil and gas producers from the middle east that their industrial networks are compromised and breached frequently which reduces the efficiency of their production facilities.
i need to know from our colleagues from oil and gas community here in Europe ? can you guys share your experiences and can put some light on the issue so that we can come to a solution to end this problem on a large scale?
i am an automation engineer by profession and would like to know more about this issue to understand it better and if we can find a solution to this problem or at least address the issue by some suggestions it would be highly appreciated?
You know, the industry is broad. for example, the electricity sector, oil and gas sector, biomass and stuff like that. Are you also, talking about renewable, or ?
thanks, keep it up brother.
I want to do a project based on the production and exploration of oil in oil & gas industries with the help of AI.
BHA, КНБК, directional drilling, sidetracking, stress/deformations in directional wells
Can someone please help me with the reason why the choice of Monte Carlo algorithm is best suited for volumetric calculations and determination of uncertainties in probabilistic assessments.
Focus on sustainability and supply chain management in oil and gas industry
If not in the oil and gas industry – You are more than welcome to recommend other industry cases within sustainability and supply chain.
Im currently studying the usage of SS316L in the oil and gas pipeline. But, due to my incompetence I cant really figure it out where this SS316L has been used for the making of certain part of oil and gas pipes.
And also I would like for you to share if this SS316L pipe is used in seawater and what part is it.
if you have any reference to it, please kindly share it here. Thank you very much!
They are different methods adopted in hydrocarbon volume estimations which can be grouped into the deterministic or probabilistic approaches. Which of these will provide a more realistic result and why? Support materials and publications will be appreciated.
I used the value field "presence" which was a value of 1 for each point to create a raster of all the oil and gas wells in NY and PA, but the layer came out with stretched values between 1.79769e+308 and -1.79769e+308. I want to show the density of wells approaching the Catskill reigon, but I'm not sure how to accomplish that.
which of the available techniques for desulphurization of the oil is more effective?
There are some forces active in oil and gas reservoirs, including capillary, viscous, gravity, diffusive, and convective forces. The magnitude of each force may be different from one case to other, depending on a number of factors. The rock and fluid properties, size and height of reservoir, temperature and pressure are important factors which dictate the magnitude of each force for a certain reservoir. I am looking for examples of real cases where each force is measured and/or estimated and compared with other forces.

The shift towards alternative and renewable energies away from fossil fuel sources became an important goal for the GCC countries despite being the world's biggest producer of oil and gas. So, do you believe the climate changed and the game changer in the Gulf Cooperation Council Region?
Hello, I'm currently working on a research project of corrosion inhibitors using cigarette butts. From the studies I've seen on the subject, it requires a high concentration of inhibitor for it to be efficient. For example, results show that the inhibition efficiencies arrive at 94.6% and 91.7% in 10% and 15% (wt%) HCl solution, respectively, by adding 5% (wt%) inhibitor.
Would this mean that since more than 1,000ppm concentration is needed, the inhibitor is not efficient? Is it really necesary for the inhibitor to be in normal 200-5,000ppm standards? Are there any industries that use such high concentrations of inhibitors? Would there be a way to combine the inhibitor with another substance to make it more efficient with less concentration?
I attach the file of the research (not my research) for citing purposes.
I need to get some raw data from oil and gas exploration wells. It has to be open-file so results can be used by colleague doing PhD and to include core analysis data, conventional and SCAL, including MICP and pyrolysis as well as the LAS files for at least the interval covered by the cores
We read in the news that oil prices fell because of the US oil stockpiles rise by one million barrels example. Knowing that this amount does not account for something in the oil market, but caused lower oil prices. Why such a large influence for the federal reserve of oil on the global market note that the United States buys the bulk of the oil from the two states, Canada and Mexico, and they were supposed to be affected by this issue, not the world oil market?
i want to simulate the perforation with high power laser in oil well.
I want to design an optimum time to shut in an existing gas well. it is already developed, produced for 3 years, and has tested result from previous well testing. is it okay to just follow the previous testing time? while I'm not really sure the previous test has an optimum time. do you have any article or paper that can explain the step by step?
hello all,
Where can I find a questionnaire in sustainability project management in oil and gas industry for master thesis?
If the associated gas is de-pleating significantly faster than the crude, a significant increase in CO2 in the gas stream may be observed, is that because the CO2 is in liquid form until it is de-pressurized and hence CO2 depend on how much liquid/crude being produced and not on how much natural gas being produced ?
I am looking to see the possibility of using UAV-derived images to monitoring oil spills and oil spill-related environmental problems in swampy, coastal and land environments. Other possible areas of application in the Oil and Gas sector would also be of interest.
Geo-scientific evidences in Environmental Litigation arising from oil and gas pollution
Analytical calculation of recovery factor, GOR, BHP for different injection rates.
I am looking for case studies outside Europe on local content or local development from oil and gas developments or mining projects. If anyone can provide some literature or perspectives from this field.
I am working on panel data for Oil and Gas industry of India, considering top 4 players that cover approx 85% of industrial market cap. EPS of companies is taken to be dependent variable. The result shows neither USD-INR exchange rate nor Crude oil prices impact the EPS of players, despite being major cost determinants. So does it signifies towards something or its a normal result obtained ?
Dear all,
I am doing my thesis about dilatancy and I am simulating the impact that the angle of dilatancy has in an oil well.
I am using Drucker Prager Hardening which includes dilation angle. The thing is, that does not matter if I put 80 degrees or if I put 3 degrees in dilation angle, the answer of the simulation is always the same. I expected that stresses or strains were affected by changing the dilation angle, but nothing different happens.
I made two steps. The first one is geostatic and the second is static general. In geostatic I applied a pressure inside the well of 14815096.32 Pa and in static general the pressure decreases to 9000000 Pa .
I introduced the main stresses S11 and S22 = 19587382 Pa and S33= 23606663.71 Pa.
Any ideas? Please help me. Thank you in advance.
Looking at the sub-basins with the Outeniqua and Zululand Basin.
Tar may feel comfortably fine in crude oil in the reservoir, but may drop out during surface. Tar observed in the lab may not be tar downhole. What is the bets way to characterize tar in the reservoir for reservoir modeling and development purposes?
