My impression at this point in time is AI uses stilted language, often too complex if the person conducted the writing without AI, and still misses the point. Of course, a skilled AI operator knows answers rely on the input, so human clarification of what it wants from AI is paramount. I have a friend who teaches at another college, and 100% of discussions and responses are AI. Easily identified because complete novices could never have such thorough answers and read a half dozen textbooks in a day. Their responses all have the same identifiers and word structure. The first problem is there are different definitions of the terms "Coaching" and "Mentoring". We define them as follows:
Coaching is about helping someone develop by finding their own solutions (specifically the coach not giving opinions).
Mentoring is using your experience to enable the performance / development of another.
At LeaderShape Global www.leadershapeglobal.com, we refer to ourselves as Coach-Mentors where we use our skills as a coach together with our experience in life and business. The mentoring part is actually more of a backup as helping people discover their own solutions has the most impact.

This question addresses particularly t the educational manager but meets also any manager's interests.
Once upon a time, while I attend training about leadership, my mentor said to me: you have to create a team. I thought that I had a team, replied, and he said you don't have a team, you need to build it. At that time, I don't really understand what he meant. And I should continue with a group of coworkers and never had a team. When the team doesn't exist you have to fight for anything as collaboration, outcomes at the right time, sharing experiences, etc After three years, in a new office, I became again a team manager, but I didn't especially create this team, but I think I consolidate the team that I inherited from the circumstances. Nevertheless, I think I gave a good contribution not as large as the executive management who had the power to decide whether to recruit or not the profile that I suggest, but it matters.

Defining the dilution factor is very important when we are working at the level of ppb (parts per billion) or ppt (parts per trillion). Other day, I was working on plant biomass samples to analyze available Si (Silicon) in plant biomass. I have gone through several steps of dilution and became so confused about what is DILUTION FACTOR. I did several dilutions at several steps (digestion, adding chemicals, again diluting to come up with the range of AAS) and it became so complicated. As always, I approached Dr. Rafael Santos and he solved this problem very easily, I would say just in 10 minutes when I was struggling for an hour. Finally, Dr. Santos made a good explanation with their whiteboard and step by step he came up with the solution. Again, doing a Ph.D. is not just collecting and analyzing data but also needs to understand the chemistry happening in between. If you don't know how to do it then seek help. Asking someone doesn't mean your basics are not strong, asking someone means you know what you're looking for but you don't know how to approach it. With respect to the works of Israel Kirzner on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs,
it is very reasonable to assume a huge impact of lived experiences, especially the 'need to find the gap' and 'to look around the corner', i.e. making from less more.
Kirzner was very outspoken in his many lectures (e.g. available on you tube) on entrepreneurship=if I would be an entrepreneur, I would not be here to give this lecture. Personally, I do think a very methodical life-style, monetary prudence and the ability to deutero- (open-multiple-loop) learning are basic life skills to be-come an entrepreneur.

there is a substantial literature on gender and leadership, both in terms of emergence (who becomes a leader) and effectiveness (how well does the leader perform).
I suggest checking out the work by Alice Eagly and colleagues. Other meta-analyses might also help you get a better overview of the existing literature. Here are some suggested reads:

A theory that is quite often utilized in this context is Eagly's (1987) gender role theory, according to which societies have inherent expectations toward men and women. Women are generally expected to be more communal (e.g. caring) and men to be agentic (e.g. take charge or intiative). This can obviously vary between different cultures. This theory might explain why the same leader behavior can be appraised differently by followers depending on the gender of the leader.

Hi, I'm an undergraduate research student working in the labs this summer, and my mentor and I are stumped. We work with an MG16-55 strain E. coli, and up until recently, our optical density measurements were tracking consistently over a 5-7 hour growth curve. We had two runs with significantly higher readings and hypothesized the media temperature or an unknown contaminent caused the higher reads. Uncultured media grew nothing in our incubator though, and our temperature-controlled stored media is tracking data from last fall when the lab was cooler instead of the runs from this summer when it is warmer. Does anyone have any idea what else we should be looking for?

Your starting amount could be a cause. Did you start it from a colony, or glycerol stock? There will be variation there due to uneven starting material. You should make a starter culture and make sure all the starting ODs are the same before then adding a fixed amount to your experimental culture.

I think it is good to publish your thesis work before graduation. To me it is a waste of time to conduct a research and not publish it. Even if one is a weak student you must push to publish because after graduation when you meet other people in your field you will see how you have wasted your time. Also it is good to have a good supervisor that can help and assist.

Dear Rodrigo Vianna de Almeida thank you for your interesting technical question. Personally I never heard about FigBox.co, so I cannot tell you if it is trustworthy or not. There is some basic information about the Cognitive Science Society to be found on Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_Science_Society. At least they don't write anything negative or critical about this society. It just depends if it is of interest to you with respect to your field of research. I also checked Beall's list of predatory publishers for the Cognitive Science Society and found no entry. So that is good.
In the end you must decide for yourself if you want to spend time on yet another platform. Personally I don't think its useful. You can participate in all kinds of scientific discussion right here on RG, and the remaining time is better spent for doing your own research.

Ok ,so here is another question about qualitative studies. In my dissertation IRB I included the following:
  1. Video recordings of mentor/intern meetings
  2. Virtual focus group meetings with mentors and interns
  3. Individual interviews after focus group meetings as necessary to address unanswered questions from above related to my research questions.
  4. Reflections from interns over the course of the study with specific prompts
My question is, if the interns and mentors do not want to do all the items listed above, is it okay to allow them to only participate in focus groups. If they don't want to do focus groups with other mentors/interns would it be okay to just have interviews with mentor/interns that work together (in pairs). I think some of the mentors are hesitant to participate with others (not sure why exactly other than possibly the comfort level). Do you think this strays too far even if it can help answer my research questions? Should I turn in an amended IRB? I know I will have to rewrite parts of my chapter 3 but I have heard/understand things like this happen in qualitative studies and sometimes you get a completely different set of data than you originally planned for because of what you learn/gain throughout the study. I love the idea of qualitative studies and learning from participants, but I struggle because sometimes I think too much in black/white pictures. I am a "rule follower" of sorts.

I just had to amend my report. My data collection method changed from face to face interviews to online self-report surveys due to covid. It doesn't take long to complete the amendment form and it's better to safeguard your research and marks by completing one. Oh and don't forget to reflect on the changes in your method section (^◡^ )

There are quite a few articles and guidelines out there regarding the design of good surveys. Apart from possibly a few very specific frequently-used surveys in particular disciplines, any useful survey usually needs to be developed individually. The ways to do that to create and validate a valid and reliable instrument are described in other references, but they should be fairly easy to locate online.

Of course the new situation reduced a lot the face-to-face encounters with the students and moved the tutorization process totally online. I had some experience before as I teach research and tutorize students in an online Master degree. I agree with some statements that now we had to respond much more and engage in online tutorization processes. I observed that for the students it is much more difficult, too. It seems that following instruction and examples online needs a high concentration by them and they are normally using these platforms more for leisure communication. Some groupe activities are not so effective as there is a tendency not to engage so much as in a face to face constellation. In general, it was much more work for me, more meetings, more time on the screen and a less satisfying sensation than in the face to face processes.

This was another interesting case study I was reminded of after critically debating the rights and responsibilities of graduate students / faculty mentors, and recent responses to another case study.
In this case, tentative publications were listed out and one effort was identified to be the responsibility of a the primary investigator, i.e. mentor. However, the mentor over time was identified as being lazy even among colleagues and never followed through with developing a manuscript. Further, the mentor even requested to not be reminded of the commitment! What does a student do given these circumstances? Early publications can be important and even tallied by potential hire(s). Timeliness, demonstration of team work, and breadth of research effort outcomes are related facets of this case study.

My main advice to you is to look for applications rather than protocols, and mind that IoT is good for very specific applications, mainly which needs simple action to do. Such as medical applications, alarms, warning, ..., ets.
Finally, seek the most recent references, and mind that 2016 is regarded as really old reference!

Mentor-Mentee relationships should not only be associated with Developing or Underdeveloped countries. There are weaknesses with mentoring in Developed countries which makes this a global societal challenge.
The real challenge in the development of this relationship can be placed on the quality of the broad frame work of each country's Educational policy. When I studied at Teacher's College mentoring never arose and throughout my primary and secondary education mentoring was unknown to me.
Mentoring in my view should not be associated with Developed, Developing or Underdeveloped worlds. Mentoring should be seen as being linked to the commitment of an instructor to ensure that the learner understands and feels appreciated. Mentoring is about a mentee's ability to look back on a learner and be able to identify the progress that learner has made and how fulfilled that learner is and knowing how much you have invested and supported his/her achievements.

You asked a too much general question. For getting an answer you have to indicate the general line of your thesis. Time in QM is connected with many things. In the Schrodinger equation the time is a simple concept, a parameter, and is reversible. But when we have to do with entanglements, the time entails a hard dilemma. Another issue is the time reversibility in QM, e.g. if the decay process is reversible.
Then, you should first define on which topic you intend to do your research. To your knowledge, the M.Sc. does not have to be, compulsorily, a discovery, it may be an extensive review of the literature on some topic, expressing your opinions and criticism or support.

Hi, I am looking for a mentor as author supervisor on specific pathology topics/projects for my dream path portal!
Background: There is a US-based pathology portal, which I have been using since I saw histo in my very first semester in med school. I bought books there, participated in quizzes and heavily used knowledge based content portal. Consequently, I feel very sentimentally and strongly about this resource and the project below.
What is now: During CAP19 in Orlando, I asked if I could write some small part of the content for them. Surprisingly, they said yes, however, I need to come up with the supervisor in any field, so I can start. The main author is required to be at attending level in the United States, but does not have to be licensed or practicing in the USA.
What's next: I am looking for preceptor with minimal time investment on their part and can provide more details. I think, it's hard for me to wait until I become an attending myself, because this portal groomed me as a person, who I am today. As much as I have long ways to go, this was the source, that solidified my interest in pathology and once they said: "yes ... [I} can be writing now, not later... but under supervision", I have been having hard times to wait for one of my own preceptors to free up on time or for me to reach the level of attending.

In harmony with Brian Barnard 's and Saeid Nosrati 's answers, the purpose of presenting the theoretical framework is to clearly identify the hypothesis and reflect on the theory after data collection and analysis whether it is confirmed or disconfirmed. In addition, theoretical framework provides and depicts theories that explain why the current research problem exists. However, I think that your research paradigm determines the role of theory in the research. You must consider your world view in the research; epistemology, ontology and axiology.
In conceptual framework section the fundamental concepts that characterize and delineate the study variables is presented to establish an informed understanding of the study field.

For my research methodology in qualitative research on 'Critical Reflective Practices' I am using both my reflective journal (action research) and interviews as data sources for research design. Can both (journal + interview = findings) be called mixed method or methodological triangulation? Please again consider following two points while answering:
1. I couldn't rely on my reflective journal as its not free from subjective biases and I didn't have a mentor or expert to share my reflection.
2. Interviews were conducted to further validate the research and to defy my subjective biases from reflective journal.

In my understanding "mixed method" refers to design where both quantitative and qualitative data is collected and analyzed to answer same questions. The design may take a sequential form where quan data is collected after qual data ( data from interviews are used to develop a model which later be tested through a survey) or vice versa.
In your case, you are using single design (qual), so we cannot call it a mixed method approach.

At some point, qualitative content analysis, framework analysis, and thematic analysis all run together. In essence, the core of what they each do (coding data and summarizing the interpretation of that coding) is what qualitative researchers have always done. Thomas (2006) called this a "General Inductive Approach."
If you plan to summarize your results as a set of themes, then I would recommend doing thematic analysis, since it is by far the most widely recognized of these methods.
