* I work with 3 electrode system (Platinum coil as counter electrode, Ag/AgCl (sat. KCl) as refernce electrode and CNWs as working electrode)
* Potentiostat Versastat 3
- the electrochemical analysis give strange result .. and according to this reference and others "http://www.esm.psu.edu/wiki/_media/research:bas13:gamry_pstat_psu_2010_printerfriendly.ppt"
i concluded that the problem with reference electrode because when i removed it and combine counter and refernece terminal the result was good ,,
i faced many problems with this electrode
first: fluctuations in results --when i changed the electrolyte inside the reference electrode this problem solve 
second: changing electrolyte does not solve the problem of the expected results 
third: there is some contamination formed quickly after changing electrolyte inside the reference electrode as shown in the attached figure .. whenever changing the ref electrode electrolyte this contamination formed and i am quite sure this can affect the results ..
So, can any one recommend a method for maintenance? and is there a specific method to check the reference electrode performance?

Dear Ingy,
if you are sure that the wire inside the electrode is indeed silver, and you are filling the electrode with reasonably pure KCl solution, then you need to answer the question: what is that black deposit on the wire?
Please check the color of all possible silver salts / oxides, then ask yourself: how is this possible that I am making this salt/oxide on my reference electrode wire? Possibly the connections to your potentiostat are mixed up. Maybe the potentiostat itself is broken.
If this black color appears immediately when you fill your RE with KCl solution - this is either not silver, or not KCl (or both).
In any case, it is a good idea to check if there is any significant current flowing through your RE (this should never be the case), and at which potential your RE is with respect to your CE. A multimeter connected between the RE and CE will tell. If this voltage is very high (over one volt) - your potentiostat is not working properly, or there is a problem with your CE. Also check the voltage between WE and CE - if this one is very high, the capillary at the bottom of your RE may be blocked. Placing it in a beaker with hot ultrapure DI water usually unblocks it.
Always rinse your RE after use with pure water, then store in a beaker with aqueous KCl solution of the same molarity as you use inside the RE.

I am working on topic: Does media glorify terrorists? its a content analysis of media coverage of terrorists on four topic categories viz. attention, recognition, justification, and criticizing government, and three slant categories viz. favorable, unfavorable, neutral . There are four news channels my study, and I want to check whether there is a difference in their coverage. I have collected the empirical data using code sheet. My IVs and DVs are categorical. Please suggest to me which tests should I apply to gauge the difference in coverage?

I was assuming that you would have counts of how often each source mentioned various things about terrorism, and that these would serve as the DVs. Can you share some examples of what your DVs are and how they are measured?

Can anybody recommend an appropriate methodology and statistical test to study media coverage of hate speech?

Dear Nazia,
Shanma is correct but I think may be of some use in helping you make your question clearer. 
1) What is hate speech? What you may think is I or others may not. Just as what I may feel is hate speech you and others may not.  Please define so reader can know what it is you are looking for.
2) Limit your question! What media source? It will be impossible to monitor every television channel, radio station, news papers,magazines, ect.  You may want to focus in on one but more than that you would need a team.
3) Methodology approach. In your study it may just be watching, listening, or reading and counting the number of times statements met your defined requirements for statement to be considered hate speech. Or listening to prime time shows and comparing them to one another. Many such methodologies are a valid approach to your question.
4) Have a statistical method or approach can be done much the same as #3.

In my resent research in the area of metacognition (published in an Ebook called Adjunct Life by me, Maryann DiEdwardo, I talk about how students need to think about thinking. If you search databases in area of research on metacognition, there is evidence of lack of ability to think in areas of Africa due to cultural issues. These are only a part of strife and results of other issues that we all face such as neurological damage to children who are exposed to violence.

The classic way to demonstrate the quality of the coding process is through inter-rater reliability. But that is mostly about showing that your procedures can be used "objectively" by different coders. As the name implies, this addresses reliability rather than validity.
Beyond that, you'll need to clarify what kind of validity your are seeking. Within survey research, validity usually refers to the measurement process: did the respondent understand the question in the same way that you meant it? If not, you have an invalid answer. This is also known as construct validity.
Alternatively, in experimental research, the typical issue is whether you have made an appropriate interpretation of the results. In particular, are there competing alternatives that could explain your results just as well? This is also known as internal validity.

Sampling units will vary depending on how the researcher makes meaning; they could be words, sentences, or paragraphs. In the mission statements project, the sampling unit was the mission statement.
Context units neither need be independent or separately describable. They may overlap and contain many recording units. Context units do, however, set physical limits on what kind of data you are trying to record. In the mission statements project, the context units are sentences. This was an arbitrary decision, and the context unit could just as easily have been paragraphs or entire statements of purpose.
Recording units, by contrast, are rarely defined in terms of physical boundaries. In the mission statements project, the recording unit was the idea(s) regarding the purpose of school found in the mission statements (e.g., develop responsible citizens or promote student self-worth). Thus a sentence that reads "The mission of Jason Lee school is to enhance students' social skills, develop responsible citizens, and foster emotional growth" could be coded in three separate recording units, with each idea belonging to only one category (Krippendorff, 1980).
