My interest is the magnetic properties of these systems, using ORCA software under Linux environment.
thank for all.

Dear Ali Almansori thank you for your interesting technical question. Although we are inorganic chemists, I'm absolutely not a proven expert in this field. Thus all I can do is suggest to you a few potentially useful articles which might help you in your analysis. In this context please have a look at the following relevant papers:
1. Theory of Magnetic Transition Metal Nanoclusters on Surfaces
2. Structural and electronic properties of transition metal nanoalloys and magnetic compounds
3. Ab initio study of free and deposited transition metal clusters
All three studies are entire PhD theses about the topic which can be freely downloaded as public full text. For some general information about the ORCA program package please see the following useful articles:

I've been using the IDL software in Windows environment for many years . Recently, I encountered a problem and I could not solve it. Please guide if possible. The problem is that I've written a code in IDL that needs to read data with test.dat format from the another machine with linux environment of course two these machine are network. Unfortunately, when calling the open command the following error message appears:
“The system cannot find the path specified.”
and the open command is :
data_path ='root/home/mydirectory/'
openr,1, data_path+test+"."+"dat"
The code source is in the Windows and the the test.dat is in another machine with linux. I think the path given is wrong, but I do not know how to connect the two machine or change the path.

Anyone knows a tool or script of making 4dtv analysis for two sequences with different lengths? Preferably in python or standalone in Linux environment.
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi Joseph,
What I want to do is a bit more complicated than a blast. I want to calculate the "fourfold synonymous third-codon transversion" for pairwise protein sequences and then make their plot to see different divergence specifications between them.
There are a couple of scripts online to do that but all of them are for fixed length. I am looking for the one able to calculate the KS and 4dtv distance for 2 sequences with dissimilar lengths.
Thanks

What are the advantages of using Linuxmint over Ubuntu
Relevant answer
Answer
Linux Mint prioritizes elegance and user-friendliness, and is more open to proprietary software being pre-installed. However, I think the main difference is the default user interface:
-) Linux Mint: MATE (fork of Gnome 2) or Cinnamon (fork of Gnome Shell). KDE and Xfce variants also available.
-) Ubuntu: Unity
In my experience, since Ubuntu move into the Unity interface, I found more difficult to work in an efficient way. Ubuntu, as it is now, is more oriented for non-academic user, with a beautiful interface, which is perfect for looking at photos, videos, internet, etc, but is not so efficient for handling hundreds of files.
I haven't had a look at Ubuntu since two years, but I know that the Unity interface is much more stable now than before. However, I feel really comfortable with Linux Mint, in particular with the Mate user interface, which allows me to use some old PCs that are not capable to run the latest versions of Ubuntu.
