Leisure Activities are voluntary use of free time for activities outside the daily routine.
Questions related to Leisure Activities
Looking at the growth and development of American cities, it can be seen that while urban cores are stagnating, peripheries are getting developed. Urban development remains focussed on development of so called communities in peri-urban areas, which has little relevance to neighbourhood planning. With development focussed in peri-urban areas, distance between place of work, place of residence, leisure , education, healthcare are fast increasing, leading to large dependence of human living on mechanised movement. Looking at all the existing pattern, existing urban development remains car centric with cars and parking determining the entire urban norms and standards. Existing pattern of urban development does not remain sustainable and is leading to large consumption of fossil fuel and carbon footprints. Urban planning, in USA needs review, revision and redefinition in order to make cities sustainable. and urban living more human centric rather than car centric,
Dear researchers,
I am a zoologist and I grow microgreens as a leisure activity. However, I would like to know more details about microgreens.
Thank you.
The widespread automation of jobs could lead to mass unemployment. Preparing for a future with increased leisure time and rethinking economic and societal structures becomes crucial to mitigate the negative impacts.

Dear,
As part of an international research project, we will assess the Frailty Phenotype in Adults with Congenital Heart Disease. We aim to use the Fried Frailty Index, as described in her original paper.
One of the aspects that need to be assessed as part of this Index, is the physical activity rate of patients. Based on the instructions of the Fried Frailty Index, one should use the short version of the Minnesota Leisure Time Activities Questionnaire.
After searching on Medline and google for a couple of hours, I still did not manage to find a blank version of this short version.
I am looking for other researcher who have used the Fried Frailty Index and want to share their study documents in order to understand which data I need to collect at the level of the Physical activity level.
I'm particularly interested in this with relation to lifestyle sports such as surfing, skateboarding, rock climbing, mountain biking etc.

As leisure plays major role in psychological health of caregivers i would like to know if any study done to understand the need of leisure in their life.
I am interested in papers and practices about sustainable tourism ,be a little bit more specific , is how technologies and innovations contribute to sustainable tourism.
Thanks in advance.
Best wishes.
Portugal/Brazilian Portuguese- Negociação
French - Négociation
Spanish -Negociación
Italian - Negoziacione
English Negotiation.
It means "deny" "leisure" - see Latin etymology below(*)
However, how about non-Latin Languages?
What is the equivalent in your country? What about the etymology?
(*) Latin Etymology: negotiation (n.)
early 15c., negotiacioun, "a dealing with people, trafficking," from Old French negociacion "business, trade," and directly from Latin negotiationem (nominative negotiatio) "business, traffic," noun of action from past participle stem of negotiari "carry on business, do business, act as a banker," from negotium "a business, employment, occupation, affair (public or private)," also "difficulty, pains, trouble, labor," literally "lack of leisure," from neg- "not" (from PIE root *ne- "not") + otium "ease, leisure," a word of unknown origin.
Hello,
I am looking for some available datasets where features of different activities like going to a shop, doing leisure activities, going on a walk, riding the bus have been extracted. I need this so that I can cluster similar activities so that I can use them for further analysis . I have found a lot of papers for activity recognition but I am trying to find some some datasets (if already available) in human-human interaction or human -object activities and its extracted features which covers a vast portion of the activities.
The subject of my research is the quality of urban open spaces and leisure.
I like this from Zhuangzi (369 BC – 286 BC): “吾生也有涯,而知也无涯。以有涯随无涯,殆已”
(“My life has a limit, but knowledge has no limit. Pursuing an unlimited knowledge with a limited life is perilous.")
One should stop pursing knowledge when it is enough for one's daily work and life.
Would you share some interesting/funny quotes here? Thank you!
After the launch in 2009 of Oasis of the Seas by Royal Caribbean International, followed in the period 2010-2019 by 4 ships of the same class followed by 2 more ships in the coming years, there were no larger ships: in terms of length or beam or capacity (number of passengers).
Of course: Not everyone has the opportunity to buy a small piece of land or a garden.
In this case you can answer the question with your own wishes. There are probably not so many people who want to burden their leisure time with gardening and ecological ideas.
I give an example from my own family. We live on a somewhat busy street, the garden is separated from the street by a high hedge. A short film - now available on Youtube - shows how even nature cultivated by humans can possess beauty and ecological diversity. Before answering my question take three minutes for the link:
Hi,
I am currently performing analyses for my bachelor thesis. My thesis is about the effects of work-study-life conflict/ facilitation on academic outcomes and leisure satisfaction. Now the variable work-study-life does not exist, so I have decided to form those variables out of existing variables: work-study, work-life and study-life (conflict/ facilitation). These are all reliable and validated constructs. I performed a factor analysis to see whether the items belonging to work-study conflict (WSC), work-life conflict (WLC) and study-life conflict (SLC) could form one conflict scale (and I did the same for facilitation). The factor analysis resulted in three/four factors, WSC, SLC and two of the four items of WLC loaded on WSC. According to this factor analysis, these factors unfortunately did not correlate highly enough that I could put them together and form the work-study-life variable.
After that I formed the variables WSC, WLC and SLC with the items that according to the theory belonged to the variables, as they are reliable and validated scales. Next, I performed a correlation analysis to see whether these variables correlated with each other. Now WSC, WLC and SLC all did have a significant correlation with each other!
Does this mean I could form the variable work-study-life conflict/ facilitation?
And if so, should I form the variable by taking the mean of the scales (WSC+WLC+SLC)/3? Or should I take the mean of all the individual items?
Hopefully someone understands my question and can help me out. Please let me know if I can clarify something, English is not my first language (obviously).
Kind regards,
Britt
We are usually told to take a 15 minutes nap after lunch and a walk after dinner. How long after taking meals one should take a nap or walk? Should we walk briskly or leisurely after meals? Should it be a short walk or a long one? Walk before a meal helps burn more calories or walk after meals? How long should we walk before and after a meal?

Some of the organization are converting to 4 days a week working plan. While not been used to this but looks attracting when i look at my bed. This program may seem cost-effective as week and can give more leisure time
How do you see it?
Original research articles are published by commercial and society journals with a lot of effort and reasonable finances, no doubt. In the end, these organizations earn a decent profit in the first five years of publication and release through internet. Nonetheless, the research organizations also invest a lot of money, effort and intellectual accomplishment for initiating, creating, producing and publication of this new knowledge for their own, country and the world society upliftment. The creators may, however, generate some profit from patents and restrictive transfer of technology. At the same time, a massive research and knowledge is created by a large majority of researchers without much profitability. Such research mostly becomes a basis for development of salable technology, usable basic knowledge, entertainment material, luxury, leisure resources, etc. But the commercial journals would restrict free circulation of this research for at least half-a-century, until the society either forgets about it or treats as obsolete. In this scenario, the society and the original creator of the knowledge suffer the most, for no fault of theirs. Logically, copyright law should have been amended long back to correct this loss of information already generated. What is the view of researchers on this, has never been asked. Please give your views in order to advise the governments on this aspect. Link
Hi, I am conducting a systematic review of systematic reviews/meta-analysis on the field of leisure. I would like to use a guideline/manual to analyze the selected studies' quality.
Could some colleague suggest:
guidelines to assess the quality of systematic reviews and meta-analysis?. If so, what is the "gold standard"?
In the demographic population status, Mauritius is seen to have a large number of youth. Youth is defined by the age of 13-25 accordingly by the Ministry of Youth, leisure and Sports.
As known, youth is a critical period in any individual’s life. It is the age where the adolescent is on a continuous process for adulthood. Thus, it is considered primary to shape these youngsters’ for the betterment of the society. The government of Mauritius has put heart and soul into making this phase of life a successful one. Best educational access as well as sport and leisure are the ingredients for the future individuals’. However, a rise of social evils committed by youngsters has been noticed, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, and drug takings, among others. This has resulted in petty crimes, delinquencies, and poverty.
Sociologists have often argued that leisure is one of the compulsory assets to bring control in a youth’s crisis period. But to what extent are these activities really playing their role?
I am going to do a research about the importance of leisure in life. I would be so helpful if any one suggest me the comprehensive questionnaire.
Protected areas are used for a wide range of tourism and leisure activities, some of which focus on nature, while for others they provide a setting for recreational and sporting activities. Adventure racing events, e.g. trail running and orienteering, are increasing in popularity, and occurring with great frequency.
The literature on adventure racing has focused on the sociology of sport, health and nutrition of participants. There is limited information about the nature and extent of its biophysical and socio-cultural impacts.
Although the association of HR and outcome is suggestive, it does not, by itself, prove causality. High HR also is associated with poor cardiorespiratory fitness or impaired cardiac function. Indeed, exercise capacity itself is a powerful predictor of mortality, and resting HR is lower in individuals who undertake vigorous leisure activities or participate in sports. Therefore, in recent studies significantly relating HR and mortality, adjustments have been made for the effects of physical activity and cardiac function. In the Cooper Clinic Mortality Risk Index, high HR and low cardiorespiratory fitness were both independent predictors of mortality. Relatively high HR often is found together with other cardiovascular risk factors, notably hypertension, an atherogenic blood lipid profile, blood glucose and insulin levels, and overweight. Indeed, HR correlates with the number of cardiovascular risk factors presenting in an individual.
