To measure The Impact of YouTube Advertisement Value on Purchase Intention of YouTube Users
Relevant answer
Answer
Questionnaires are not ready made. Researcher has to first develop research design and identify variables to be examined. Then questions are framed accordingly after sample size and sample universe is identified. hence proceed step by step.
From previous research models :
1. Advertisement Value (from Ducoffe’s Model, 1995)
A common base for YouTube ad research.
Subdimensions:
Informativeness
"The ad provides valuable information about the product."
"I find YouTube ads useful for learning about new products."
Entertainment
"YouTube ads are often entertaining."
"I enjoy watching some of the ads before videos."
Irritation (reverse-coded)
"YouTube ads interrupt my experience negatively."
"I find YouTube ads annoying."
Credibility
"I believe the information provided in YouTube ads."
"YouTube ads are trustworthy."
2. Purchase Intention
Adapted from studies like Pavlou (2003), Dodds et al. (1991)
"I am likely to purchase products I see in YouTube ads."
"I would consider buying a product because of a YouTube ad."
"YouTube advertisements influence my buying decision."
3. Attitude Toward the Ad (Optional but often included)
From MacKenzie & Lutz (1989)
"I like the YouTube ad I just saw."
"This ad is interesting and enjoyable."
4. Continuance Intention or Ad Engagement (Also optional)
Useful if you're exploring behavioral effects beyond purchasing.
Example Papers You Can Refer To:
"The Impact of YouTube Advertising on Purchase Intention: The Mediating Role of Advertising Value" – Usually uses SEM and similar scales.
Logan, Bright, and Gangadharbatla (2012) – Adapted Ducoffe’s model for social media advertising.
Mir (2012) – Credibility, informativeness, and entertainment in advertising.

Dear community,
I am currently doing my Master thesis on measuring adoption intention based on UTAUT2. I have read through several likewise empirical studies and their survey items, however, aside from the fact that the original UTAUT2 survey items (Venkatesh et al., 2012) use standalone sentences (e.g. "I find e-vehicles easy to use"), there is no clear information on whether it is appropriate to use comparative statements (e.g. "I believe using e-vehicles are more convenient than ICE vehicles").
I haven't found any study that touches on this topic. It would be of great help if anyone has sources or knowledge on it.
Thank you!

Answer
Thank you for your answer and detailed explanation. I will be writing my thesis with a company, so I can not share the survey items due to confidentiality reasons. However, your explanation is very clear, I have adjusted my survey items according to your recommendation.

Capitalism views consumption—within the sphere of economic activity—as a driving factor for production, where other economic roles are subsequently activated. However, the consumer is not isolated from their intellectual and cultural backgrounds when exhibiting any type of behavior. During consumption, numerous psychological, physical, and intellectual considerations interact to determine the type, quantity, and manner of consumption. Here, we can discuss the ethical consumer, whom we define from the perspective that the individual is free and conscious during their economic activity. This is the consumer who takes ethical aspects into account in their consumption behavior, starting from the intention to purchase, through the method of consumption, and then the manner of disposing of product remnants. Can we then pose the question: Are religious individuals more ethical in their consumption of goods and services compared to those for whom religion does not play a significant role in their lives? This is based on the premise that religions have called upon humans, in their sacred texts, to be ethical in all their actions, among which consumption is one
Relevant answer
Answer
Personal ethics and personal religion do not have any necessary connection. Religion might be used to justify some action and often is when one considers how many individuals are killed in the name of religion. While every religion I know much about has some version of the "golden rule" calling for one to treat others in a manner like they would like to be treated, exact wording varying, far too often that does not apply when the other person is of a different religion, or even a different branch of the same religion. I sometimes think that the non-religious are actually more likely to be moral than the religious.

Artificial Intelligence(AI) has caused a global stir, pushing the boundaries of what was once thought impossible. Problems that were previously considered unsolvable are now being approached as challenges within reach, suggesting that humanity may be on the verge of a major breakthrough. It is fascinating that while humans have developed systems capable of swiftly answering any question, we still struggle to understand complex concepts like "intention".
What is intention? Where does it originate? Does intention follow observation, or does it precede it, with observation coming afterward? These are questions that AI has yet to answer, and despite thousands of scientific investigations, the mystery remains unresolved.
Is it conceivable that AI will be capable of solving this mystery and providing answers to these questions soon?
What are your perspectives on this?
Relevant answer
Answer
I fully agree with Dr. Japheth Kodua Wiredu comment that, first of all, this is about the intention of the programmers (and users), and, only secondly, is about what they have managed to implement as synthetic intention (either as a replica of human intention - i.e., reproduced intention - or as a (computational) intention having different roots and manifestations - i.e., artificial intention). Though I have not done any specific research on it, even not completely familiar with the related recent literature, my understanding is that intention must depend on awareness, and that awareness must depend on consciousness. For the reasons that (third-person) consciousness is difficult to capture by scientific means, and the quantum physical fundamentals are more than unclear, reproduced intention - as many other humane abilities - remains paradoxical and mystical indeed.

I am currently doing a study where I try to model the theory of planned behavior via structural equation modeling. I have longitudinal data (4 waves) with items assessing behavior so I want to include a cross-lagged effect from intention in one wave on behavior in the following wave. My problem is that I don't know if I should model the effects of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control (predictors) on intention within the same wave or if these predictors should have an effect on intention in the following wave. I'm leaning towards the first option since it makes sense to me that the effects of the predictors on intention would be immediate (e.g. if I already have a positive attitude towards a behavior it wouldn't take until the next wave to have the intention to do it). Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information on whether the effects of the predictors on intention are immediate or not. The original papers by Ajzen didn't give me a concrete answers and almost all of the longitudinal studies I looked at model the predictors and intention within the same wave without explicitly justifying an immediate effect.
Does anyone have an idea how an immediate effect could be justified or can cite useful papers on this topic?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Relevant answer
Answer
Hello Nico,
you don't have to decide about the model but simply can analyze all sorts of synchronous and lagged effects (1yr, 2yr etc.). A four wave study is an excellent possibility to address that empirically.
Here's a nice paper from the work psych domain that does this and discusses several impact delay models:
Frese, M., Garst, H., & Fay, D. (2007). Making things happen: Reciprocal relationships between work characteristics and personal initiative in a four-wave longitudinal structural equation model. Journal of applied psychology, 92(4), 1084.

My intention is to do an ELISA with brain homogenate coated on the base of a plate -> Adding a sample that might have antibody that binds to the homogenate -> Add a secondary and look for binding
Despite finding binding in westernblot, I fail to see any signal on ELISA. It seems to me that it is being washed away and not being coated well. There is no issue when I use purified protein. I use coating buffer and NUNC non sterial ELISA plates - coat for 16-20 hrs.
I used CHAPS buffer to homogenize so that its kinder to membrane proteins (which are of primary interest). Is the detergent action preventing to bind?
Is there changes to coating that I can do? Can detergent prevent coating - but how can I homogenize without detergernt if I am looking for brain membrane proteins?
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi Vasishta,
It seems that the CHAPS detergent might be interfering with protein coating in your ELISA. You could try removing the detergent via dialysis or buffer exchange, increasing the homogenate concentration, or switching to a detergent-free coating buffer.
However, since you're working with membrane proteins, I would recommend considering immunohistochemistry instead. IHC avoids the detergent issue and allows for protein localization directly in tissue, giving you more insight into location, distribution and context.

Question

Hi,
I have conducted an RCT (psychological intervention) where participants were randomised to 1 of 3 conditions.
Initially I conducted a per-protocol analysis but now I would like to do an intention to treat analysis and compare the results. The issue is that there is a lot of missing data (about 19%) and the pattern is MNAR.
What is the best approach to doing an intention to treat analysis in this situation? Can I still conduct the analysis with the missing data (not replacing them)?
Relevant answer
Answer
Depending on why and how you want to use the results of the ITT analysis, you could just replace each missing value by the "worst", i.e. most conservative possible value, whatever that is in your specific trial. Somewhat more sophisticated, you could model the missing values taking the reasons for their missingness into account. To find out which model works best, one can introduce artifical missingness into the complete cases according to the assumed MNAR mechanism, and then predict the missings using different models and compare the predictions to the original values. Finally, it seems that multiple imputation works OK in many cases even if the missingness pattern is MNAR. The following recent article might offer additional insights:

In this project, the intention is to capture the performance and/or success as part of a bigger project on FBOs. We are therefore compiling appropriate questions that cumulatively measure this outcome (performance or success)
Relevant answer
Answer
dear Kamaldeen Yussif Capturing and measuring the performance of farmer-based organizations (FBOs) requires a systematic approach that encompasses various quantitative and qualitative metrics. Here is a comprehensive guide on how to effectively measure the performance of FBOs:
1. Define Objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Clarify Purpose:
Determine the specific objectives of the FBO (e.g., improving crop yields, enhancing market access, promoting sustainable practices, etc.).
Identify KPIs:
Develop KPIs that align with the objectives. These can include:
Economic Indicators: Revenue, profit margin, cost of production, market prices, income growth.
Social Indicators: Member satisfaction, community involvement, women’s participation, access to services.
Environmental Indicators: Adoption of sustainable practices, reduction in pesticide use, biodiversity measures.
2. Data Collection Methods
Surveys and Questionnaires:
Distribute instruments to FBO members to gather data on production practices, access to markets, satisfaction, and membership impacts.
Interviews and Focus Groups:
Conduct qualitative interviews with FBO members and stakeholders to gain insights into perceptions, challenges, and successes.
Financial Records:
Collect and analyze financial statements and transaction records to evaluate economic performance.
Production Records:
Keep track of yield data, input usage, and any improvements over time to assess agricultural productivity.
Client and Market Feedback:

Hello! I am running a Multigroup analysis with Amos 29 using the Theory of plan behaviour. My latent constructs are Attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control, and intention (intention would be my dependent variable). My CFA and Structural models have a reasonable Fit. However, during the construct validity analysis, the AVE of some latent variables is below 0.5, and the construct reliability is between 0.6 and 0.88.
How can this impact the interpretation of the results? The structural model has a reasonable fit. CFI 0.93 IFI 0.93 TLI 0.89 RMSEA 0.06 NFI 0.92.

Hi,
as far as I know AMOS still cannot print the "standardized residuals"--that is, the cell-wise differences between the empirical covariance matrix and the model implied matris (stanardized). These are essential for any diagnostic where (with regard to which covariances) the model fails. I would really spend one week (you don't need more) to learn R (especially "tidyverse" framework) and then use the lavaan package. It is worth it!
The lavaan.org website has many tutorials which make it easy to run a model.

does architectural designe influence the consumers attitudes and their intention to shop and buy.
Relevant answer
Answer
The architecture of shopping malls significantly impacts consumer behavior through design elements that influence their movement, engagement, and spending patterns. Features such as wide, well-lit corridors, attractive storefronts, comfortable seating areas, and aesthetically pleasing environments can enhance the shopping experience, making consumers more likely to stay longer and spend more. The layout also plays a crucial role, with strategically placed anchor stores, food courts, and entertainment areas designed to maximize foot traffic and encourage impulse buying. Effective mall design creates a welcoming atmosphere that fosters positive emotions and loyalty.

Frenkel exercises are performed with the intention of recovering coordination of movements.
Relevant answer
Answer
The principles of this method are concentration, precision and repetition. In this sense, the main objective is to achieve regulation of movement, so that the patient is able to carry out the essential activities of daily life. Constant repetition, smoothness of movement and precision are fundamental for the development of the method. In addition, there are a series of requirements that must be carried out for the Frenkel exercise procedure, these are:
-The patient has to see his own limbs while performing the exercise (a mirror could be used)
-Before starting the movement, the patient must have seen a demonstration of it
-The patient must pay full attention for the exercise to be effective.
-About 3-4 repetitions are done per limb
-The exercise must be repeated until it is perfect and easy. Afterwards, it will be replaced by a more difficult one.
Frenkel's method must follow a certain progression:
-The exercises are performed by altering the speed, amplitude and complexity of the exercise
-You should never do fatiguing work, nor one that involves a large muscular load, since at that point the maximum capacity for voluntary control of movement is lost.
-To progress, the patient must show perfect performance in the exercise, otherwise it is not advisable to start another one.
-Initially, it begins with those fundamental movements of great amplitude that are used in the large joints and, later, they are replaced by finer and more precise movements of the small joints.
-Reeducation exercises begin in supine position (body position lying on your back), progressing to sitting exercises (sitting body position) and, finally, to bipedalism (standing).
-The exercises are performed first with vision reinforcement and, when mastered, with eyes closed.

Marketers must take advantage of the state of FOMO of consumers in increasing their buying intention towards their brand.
Relevant answer
Answer
I agree with your debate:
FOMO, or the Fear Of Missing Out, is a psychological phenomenon that has become increasingly prevalent in today's connected world. It refers to the anxiety or uneasiness individuals feel when they believe they are missing out on exciting or rewarding experiences or opportunities that others may be enjoying. This fear of missing out can play a significant role in consumer behavior and decision-making, and marketers have recognized its potential impact.
To leverage FOMO in marketing, companies often create a sense of urgency or exclusivity around their products or services. By highlighting limited-time offers, exclusive deals, or unique experiences, marketers tap into consumers' FOMO, generating a desire to be part of something special. This can lead to increased buying intention and prompt consumers to make purchasing decisions they might otherwise delay or overlook.
Social media platforms also play a crucial role in fueling FOMO. As individuals witness others sharing their experiences and purchases, they may develop a sense of missing out on those experiences themselves. Marketers can leverage this by utilizing social media platforms to showcase desirable experiences, events, or products, creating a sense of urgency and exclusivity.
However, it is important for marketers to use FOMO ethically and responsibly. It should not be used to manipulate or deceive consumers, but rather to genuinely highlight the value and benefits of a product or service. Transparency and authenticity are key in establishing trust with consumers, ensuring that their FOMO-driven decisions align with their actual needs and preferences.
Additionally, marketers should be mindful of striking a balance between creating a sense of urgency and maintaining long-term customer relationships. Over-reliance on FOMO tactics may lead to customer fatigue or a loss of trust if consumers feel constantly bombarded with time-limited offers or false scarcity.
In conclusion, leveraging FOMO in marketing can be an effective strategy for increasing buying intention, but it should be used thoughtfully and responsibly. By understanding and addressing consumers' fear of missing out, marketers can create compelling experiences and offers that resonate with their target audience and drive positive engagement with their brand.

Hello ! I have recently concluded the data analysis of a study which looks at Attitude, Anxiety towards robots and Trust as predictors of intention to use robots. The Multiple Regression Analysis has turned up results that indicate:
1. A very low R square value of 0.15 something indicating the predictor variables account for a very low 15% of variation in the dependent variable-intention to use robots
2. The correlations between Negative attitude towards robots and intention to use is a very weak negative , though significant r of -0.224
3. The correlations between Anxiety and intention to use robots is similar very weak and negative with r= -0.176 but is not significant
4. The lone predictor which is 'behaving' as expected is Trust ---the correlation between trust and intention to use robots is a low 0.334, significant at a value of 0.002
5.Worse, the Beta Coefficients which for both Attitude towards robots and Anxiety are not significant...however, the B coefficient for Trust is significant at 0.008
6. Paradoxically, the Anova Table seems to show an acceptable model with significance at 0.010
I have done the assumption for regression checks and they mostly seem to be in place.
My research study primarily proposed attitudes, anxiety and trust predicted intention to use robots. But the multiple regression, with its results as ,mentioned above seems to indicate only trust has an impact on intention to use robots while attitudes and anxiety do not !
My Question therefore is, if the multiple regression does not support the hypothesised prediction impact for 2 out of the 3 predictor variables, what should i do with this research study ? I was to present this research study at a Conference, but now I am not sure if I should even attend the Conference. Please guide. Thank you in advance and regards

In the ongoing project focusing on the design of a Prosthetic Heart and Venous Valve, our objective is to enhance the optimization of the materials used. Our focus is to prioritize materials with the highest level of durability. Following the acquisition of secondary values from the samples tested in the controlled environment, we will process this data digitally and conduct comprehensive fatigue analyses of the entire structure. In this fatigue analysis, our intention is to introduce the load as a cycle with variable amplitudes. While the ANSYS Mechanical program allows for variable amplitude definition, it restricts the load to a single surface, which is not in line with our preferred approach. Moreover, the ABAQUS Fe-safe program does not permit variable amplitude definition. We are thus inquiring whether any prior research has been conducted on a similar scale, yielding accurate results. Is such an analysis possible?
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi Suna,
As far as i understood, you would like to apply transient loads in different locations of the structure and maybe in different directions? Am i right?
You can apply transient loads in different cases ,you can define duty cycle in another Fatigue software called n-code or another, by reading the results of each case from ansys. You can add damages of each duty cycle by the assumption of miners rule.
As far as i know; if the loads are acting simultaneously, n-code can handle multiaxiality.

Dear researchers, which are the general contours L understood from the sentence: ‘L is a vertical contour cutting the real z-axis between 0 and 1 in complex analysis?’ I have seen a integral that I am studying about, but my intention is to adjust the contour for my problem based on that sentence. My integral:
integral on contour L of (z^-a)/(sin(pi*z))^2 dz under z as complex value.
My concern is to define the best structure of L if applies.

Entrepreneurial intention is the desire to start a business. Entrepreneurship education is the process of learning about entrepreneurship and the skills necessary to start a business. Cooperative performance is the ability of a group of people to work together effectively to achieve a common goal.
There is a strong positive relationship between entrepreneurial intention and entrepreneurship education. Studies have shown that entrepreneurship education can increase entrepreneurial intention. This is likely because entrepreneurship education provides students with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to start a business.
Entrepreneurial intention is also positively related to cooperative performance. Studies have shown that people who have a strong entrepreneurial intention are more likely to be effective team players. This is likely because people who have a strong entrepreneurial intention are more likely to be motivated, creative, and have a good understanding of teamwork.
It is difficult to say which one is superior, entrepreneurial intention or entrepreneurship education. Both are important factors in determining whether someone will be successful in starting a business. However, entrepreneurship education is likely to be more important for people who do not have a strong entrepreneurial intention.

In social-cognitive models of health behavior, can self-efficacy and risk perception, for example, be considered as constituent structures of motivation?Given that risk perception and self-efficacy have significant effects on intention, what is the difference between motivation and intention?
Relevant answer
Answer
Social-cognitive models of health behavior are frameworks that try to explain and predict how people think, feel, and act in relation to their health. Motivation and intention are two important concepts in these models, but they are not the same thing.
In summary, motivation and intention are both cognitive determinants of health behavior, but they have different meanings and roles in social-cognitive models. Motivation is a broader and more general concept that describes why a person wants to achieve a certain goal. Intention is a more specific and concrete concept that indicates how a person plans to achieve that goal.

Bridging the Business Data Divide: Insights into Primary and Secondary Data Use by Business Researchers
by Linda D. Lowry (2015)
"Abstract
Academic librarians and data specialists use a variety of approaches to gain insight into how researcher data needs and practices vary by discipline, including surveys, focus groups, and interviews. Some published studies included small numbers of business school faculty and graduate students in their samples, but provided little, if any, insight into variations within the business discipline. Business researchers employ a variety of research designs and data collection methods and engage in quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The purpose of this paper is to provide deeper insight into primary and secondary data use by business graduate students at one Canadian university based on a content analysis of a corpus of 32 Master of Science in Management theses. This paper explores variations in research designs and data collection methods between and within business subfields (e.g., accounting, finance, operations and information systems, marketing, or organization studies) in order to better understand the extent to which these researchers collect and analyze primary data or secondary data sources, including commercial or open data sources. The results of this analysis will inform the work of data specialists and liaison librarians who provide research data management services for business school researchers."

Hello all,
I am a graduate student in the field of Learning Design and Technology and am currently enrolled in a class focused on research and evaluation in education. I have been tasked with describing the differences between research and evaluation. The work of Mertens (2020) is our main source for the class. My understanding is that they are both very similar in their methods; however, the primary differences have to do with the origination of key questions to be explored, the reasons for answering those questions, and how the answers/findings are used.
In research, the key questions originate from the researcher with the intention to discover new knowledge or to confirm/challenge existing knowledge. The findings of the research project would be used to inform the academic community and the larger society. My understanding is that the goal of the researcher is to publish the findings, adding to the current body of knowledge for others to critique and build upon, with the hope of influencing society for the good.
In evaluation, the key questions originate from the group that requests the evaluation with the intention to measure the effectiveness of a specified object - maybe the whole program or a course within the program. The findings of the evaluation project are used by the group to make decisions about the thing being evaluated - maybe to eliminate the program or to modify it. The evaluator communicates the findings of the evaluation to the group usually in a written report, but does not publish the results.
As members of this community, I am wondering how you might define and distinguish research from evaluation?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the topic and I thank you in advance for your time.

Yes, thank you for your insights. It’s interesting to me that it depends upon the field of study a person is in as to how the difference between research and evaluation is defined. I see the two in an intersecting venn diagram. It seems as though it could also be drawn as evaluation as the outside circle w research within it as described by David, or research as the outside circle w evaluation within it as described by Stephen.

Hello,
I'm currently writing my master thesis, and is investigating the behavioral intention of using a help desk ticket system in a company, using the meta-UTAUT model. I'm applying PLS-SEM for my analysis, but have run into some unexpected results.
My measurement model show acceptable validity and reliability metrics. When I run my structural model, effort expectancy has a negative and significant relationship to behavioral intention. This indicates the easier it is to use the system, the less likely the employees are to use it, which makes no sense.
I've checked my items, and none of them are formulated negatively. Unfortunately I do not know what this implies.
Do anyone have any idea, or can guide me in the right direction? Thank you very much in advance!

Hi,
I am looking for some advice regarding reliability testing. I have conducted a very small pilot study (6 participants) and need to test the reliability and validity of my questionnaire.
My questionnaire produces a range of categorical and continuous data, mainly in the form of Likert scales. My intention was to use Cronbach's alpha to test reliability, but it seems I cannot use this for categorical data.
Would it be appropriate to use Cronbach's alpha to assess the continuous data only and a seperate measure to assess the categorical data?
I wasn't sure if it were appropriate to use two seperate tests within the same questionnaire.
Thanks in advance.
Relevant answer
Answer
Alpha can be used for ordinal scaled items. However, Cronbach's alpha isn't your problem, it's small sample size. You have no statistical power with such a small sample.
Small sample research on questionnaires should be focussed on think-aloud methods to explore the appropriateness, clarity and sensitivity of the questions and the response options.
I'd also caution that alpha is only interpretable if the items make up a unidimensional scale, and with items of various types I'm wondering if that's true in your case.

Hello everyone, I am a new user of Abaqus.
I try to simulate the impact between a vessel and an off-shore wind turbine for my Thesis. The wind turbine is inserted in the sea-bottom. I have a problem regarding the modeling of the interaction between the soil and the embedded part of the wind turbine.
I have modeled this interaction using non-linear connector elements according to the following link: https://simulation-blog.technia.com/simulation/subsea-modeling-with-soil-and-structure-interaction-in-abaqus-part-1
However, this type of modelling imposes a load on the embedded part of the wind turbine resulting to its movement (without any other load imposed on it). Is this normal? Could you please advise on how I can eliminate this movement, as my intention is that those connectors describe the stiffness of the soil around the embedded wind turbine, operating as a constraint?
Relevant answer
Answer
Nonlinear connectors, also known as nonlinear springs or elements, can impose a load on a system because they have a non-linear force-displacement relationship. In contrast to linear connectors, which have a constant force-displacement relationship, the force exerted by a nonlinear connector change with displacement.
When a nonlinear connector is compressed or stretched beyond a certain point, its force-displacement relationship changes, and the connector may begin to resist further deformation by exerting an opposing force, similar to a spring. This can result in the nonlinear connector imposing a load on the system it is connected to, rather than simply operating as a constraint.
In some cases, this can be beneficial, as the nonlinear connector can be used to provide damping or absorb energy in a system. For example, in a vehicle suspension system, nonlinear shock absorbers can help to smooth out the ride by absorbing energy from bumps in the road. In other cases, however, the load imposed by a nonlinear connector may be undesirable and can lead to structural damage or failure if not properly accounted for in the design of a system.
In summary, the non-linear force-displacement relationship of a nonlinear connector can cause it to behave like a spring, imposing a load on the system it is connected to rather than simply operating as a constraint. This behaviour can be both beneficial and detrimental depending on the application and how it is designed.

Answer
Dear Isaiah Adelere,
I understand that your question does not have a unique answer, and it is made in geographical units ("...I intend to use 4 half-degree aeromagnetic sheets for geothermal analysis with the intention of a 10' by 10' block size...."). I will try to help with the following explanation:
First of all, you must put in geological/structural/tectonic context, it means: if your scenario is related to a relatively high heat flow regime, the window size should be small enough to estimate the Curie point depth (CPD) because it is expected to be shallow. In contrast, if your geological scenario is considered a low heat flow, it should be large enough to estimate the deeper CPDs. It means several window sizes you must test, and the appropriate length must be selected based on the criteria of the minimal block size that does not cut off the spectral peak (Ravat et al., 2007).
On the other hand: if you have land, airborne, or satellite data, the filtering effect of anomalies could be critical, also the spectral answers. Therefore, the question is: Which is your data source for your research? Satellite magnetic data complement the existing local and regional data sets by providing a globally unified data set. It means: the local structures below the minimum wavelength content cannot be resolved in such a data set, therefore: you must choose the window size for FFT and CDPs estimation according to or in the function of your dataset.
The methodology that I recommend using to estimate Curie point depth is founded on the 2-D radial average power spectral (RAPS) analysis of magnetic anomaly data described basically by three foundational works:
  • 1) Spector and Grant (1970), where estimated the depth to the top of magnetized rectangular prisms (Zt) from the slope of the log power spectrum.
  • 2) Bhattacharyya and Leu (1975a, b, 1977) calculated the depth of the centroid of the magnetic source bodies (Z0).
  • 3) Okubo et al. (1985) developed a method to estimate the bottom depth of the magnetic bodies (Zb) using the spectral analysis method of Spector and Grant (1970).
Mathematically, the Fourier transform of a space domain function f(x,y) is measured in radians per meter if x and y are in given meters. These are related to spatial "frequencies" fx and fy, in cycles per meter. All spectral analysis must be in distance units, such as meters, not in geographical coordinates such as latitude and longitude. FFT will take the 2-D forward Fast Fourier Transform and perform one or more mathematical operations in the frequency domain before transforming back to the space domain. An option is provided to scale the data before writing the new values to an output file. The horizontal dimensions of the grid are assumed to be in meters. For other grids geographical grids were you want to convert degrees into meters.
The input dataset of a magnetic anomaly - the emphasis for land research - must reduce the influence:
  • 1) Boundary conditions and edge effects;
  • 2) Avoid high-frequency noise caused by tiny structures near the ground after lowpass filtering.
  • 3) The reduction to pole (RTP, Baranov, 1957) must be applied to the magnetic anomalies to obtain anomaly values induced by the inclination of 90º and the declination of 0º. In theory, appropriate only when all bodies/sources in your ZOI are magnetized parallel to the geomagnetic field and at the same time it has a vertical dip.
The depth estimation from your RAPS advises you that the optimal square window dimension is about 10 times the estimated depth (Chiozzi et al., 2005). Thus, you should divide your work area/zone of interest (in km/m units) into square subareas of such as for example 300 km x 300 km to say you an accurate value, each of them overlapping with respect to each other in a step increment, for example, 100 km, and then applying the 2-D FFT RAPS method individually to get Zo and Zt. The computation requires an extensive dataset for estimating Curie point depth.
Best regards, Mario E. Sigismondi

Hi everyone,
I've been interest to run an analyses which estimate umbrella index to macroinvertebrates dweeling streams and reservoir, with intention to compare with other conservation index.
Could someone tell if there is some kind o package in R to run this analyses? I founded a package justo to metanalysis.
Thank you!
Relevant answer
Answer
The umbrella index is a measure of biodiversity that takes into account both the number of species and their relative abundance in a community. It is commonly used to assess the health and stability of aquatic ecosystems, such as streams and reservoirs.
To calculate the umbrella index for macroinvertebrates in R, you can use the "vegan" package, which provides several functions for analyzing diversity and community structure. The "diversity" function can be used to calculate the Shannon-Wiener index, which is a commonly used measure of biodiversity that is similar to the umbrella index.
Here is an example of how you can use the "vegan" package to calculate the Shannon-Wiener index for a dataset of macroinvertebrates in a stream:
# Load the vegan package
library(vegan)
# Load the macroinvertebrate dataset
data <- read.csv("macroinvertebrates.csv")
# Calculate the Shannon-Wiener index
shannon_index <- diversity(data, index = "shannon")
# Print the results
print(shannon_index)
You can then use the resulting value of the Shannon-Wiener index to compare the biodiversity of the macroinvertebrates in different streams or reservoirs.
I hope this information is helpful! If you have any further questions about using the "vegan" package to calculate the umbrella index or other measures of biodiversity, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello,
referring to the concept of Ambidexterity within the business-world/ organizations (e. g. Gibson and Birkinshaw 2004, March 1991, O'Reilly and Tushmann 2013): If one understands Ambidexterity as an ability the question arises for me: Which is the most recognized/ used scale / measures for ambidexterity-capability on an individual level?
I am trying to figure out how certain ambidexterity-scores affect the entrepreneurial intention and I am looking for measurements.
Thank you very much!
Relevant answer
Answer
Ambidexterity, or the ability to address two conflicting objectives equally well, is typically measured at the organizational level. However, it can also be measured at the individual level, in which case it is often referred to as "individual ambidexterity."
There are several ways in which individual ambidexterity can be measured. One common approach is to use a self-report measure, such as a survey or questionnaire, to assess an individual's tendency to engage in both exploration (e.g., seeking new knowledge and seeking out new opportunities) and exploitation (e.g., utilizing existing knowledge and capabilities). These survey measures may include items that ask respondents to rate their level of engagement in various activities or behaviors, such as taking risks, seeking out new information, or building networks.
Another approach to measuring individual ambidexterity is through the use of performance-based measures, such as assessing an individual's ability to successfully engage in both exploration and exploitation activities. This could involve, for example, evaluating an individual's track record of innovation and problem-solving, as well as their ability to effectively execute on existing plans and processes.
In addition to self-report and performance-based measures, individual ambidexterity can also be assessed through the use of objective measures, such as data on an individual's productivity or the outcomes of their work. For example, researchers might analyze an individual's output in terms of the number of new ideas they generate or the number of existing processes they improve.
Regardless of the approach used, it is important to carefully consider the dimensions of ambidexterity being measured and the specific context in which the measurement is taking place. This will help ensure that the measure is valid and reliable, and that it accurately captures the concept of individual ambidexterity.

I am doing a research to study the impact of advertising on emotional experience and how both variables can relate to brand perception and purchase intention.
In my research I am using Openface facial recognition tool to quantify respondents emotional experience (valence) while watching an Ad (structured observation). Following the experiment, respondents have to answer questionnaire to relate both Ad and emotional valence to perception and purchase intention.
So can you please provide me with questionnaire references that relates to the topic to use it?
Relevant answer
Answer
I guess you are unnecessarily too much widening study by introducing intermediate variables like valence. often the momentary emotions have nothing to do with purchase action. Refer to AIDA model . There are two types of ad watchers. One who already have prior need identified for that product or service shown. Others who don't . hence you have to ask that question too to ensure error does not keep into study as these will be separate analysis. In my view you should directly deal with effect of advertising on perception and purchase intention .then after some time revisit sample and see what happened to it. Did it covert to purchase action ? This model will be logically more robust and useful study. It will further substantiate the general belief that advertisement leads to purchase or at least that is what advertising companies claim. In fact bulk of advertising is mostly for brand recall purpose as attrition will take place in brand recall if advertising stops. There is a mathematical model on that . before deciding research plan , do through literature survey and you may also go through my paper on research gate in the wonderland of Indian adverting business which contains key points of 40 years experience

This is the PDF-Powerpoint I used for my online presentation at the Conference 'Current issues of social sciences and humanities', organised by the Department of Ethics and Aesthetics of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, on Friday, 29 April 2022. My principal aim in this analysis is to describe Sen’s meditation as a teaching against fatalism, indifference, resignation and inaction: Sen’s criticism of these attitudes aims to uncover the deep roots of these attitudes themselves, since these attitudes conceal precise responsibilities.
Sen fights both in economics and in ethics against every form of concealing, under the idea of the unavoidability of nature, failures due to human mistakes. Unavoidable destiny proves to be, actually, as not so unavoidable as someone would like to present it. For instance, Sen’s opinion that famines are not a natural, but a social phenomenon aims to uncover all the attempts to present famines as something unavoidable, in relation to which the only solution is resignation. Sen’s intention is clearly to say that famines have precise responsibilities, and that those who present famines as natural phenomenon want to conceal their own responsibilities for the insurgence of famines. Governments try to blame on nature the cause of catastrophes, whereas the causes of social catastrophes are to be connected to the inefficiency of governments.
In particular, Iwould like to concentrate my exposition on the following themes: •Sen’s criticism of the thesis of food shortages as the (only) cause of famines.
• Famines happening when there is no political will that want to fight against the factors bringing to the famines. Persons, and not nature, are responsible for the occurring of famines.
• Sen’s defense of democracy as a system which is compatible with economic growth against all those who considers democracy as an obstacle to economic growth.

At the present stage of development of the problem of environmental protection, a new concept was born - environmental safety, which is understood as the state of protection of the natural environment and the vital environmental interests of a person, primarily his rights to a favorable environment. The scientific basis of all measures to ensure the environmental safety of the population and rational nature management is theoretical ecology, the most important principles of which are focused on maintaining the homeostasis of ecosystems and preserving the existential potential. N.F. Reimers in 1990 defined the global ecological crisis as a direction, a state in the relationship between human society and nature, characterized by a discrepancy between the production forces and production relations of human society, and the resource and biological capabilities of the biosphere.
The crisis of the appropriating economy is considered the first ecological crisis. The way out of the crisis was found in the transition to collective hunting and the division of labor between the participants. The second crisis is connected with overfishing of large animals. The way out was found in the transition from the appropriating economy to the producing one. The development of agriculture determined the progress of mankind for millennia. The third crisis is associated with the complete deforestation and the excessive burden of primitive agriculture. The fourth crisis is associated with the scientific and technological revolution. All components of the biosphere must be protected not separately, but as a whole as a single natural system. According to the federal law on “environmental protection” (2002), the main principles of environmental protection are: observance of human rights to a favorable environment, rational and non-wasteful use of natural resources, conservation of biological diversity, payment for nature use and compensation for damage to the environment, mandatory state environmental expertise, the priority of preserving natural ecosystems of natural landscapes and complexes, respecting the rights of everyone to reliable information about the state of the environment. The most important environmental principle is a scientifically based combination of economic, environmental and social interests (1992) UN International Conference in Rio de Janeiro.
There are complex interactions between the natural environment and society, as well as the exchange of energy and matter. Human impact on nature can be classified in various ways. For example, divided into destructive, stabilizing and constructive; into direct and indirect; into the intentional and the unintentional. On the other hand, nature constantly affects man. Man is connected with nature by his origin, existence, his future. The human natural environment has influenced and still influences the formation of the biological species Homo sapiens, races and ethnic groups. The territorial settlement of people, their material activity, the distribution of production forces depend on the quantity, quality and location of natural resources.
The expanding use of natural resources due to population growth and the development of scientific and technological progress leads to their depletion and increased environmental pollution with production waste and consumption waste. That is, the deterioration of the natural environment is due to the reduction of natural resources and pollution of the natural environment.
It should immediately be noted that the higher the level of use of extracted natural resources, the lower the level of environmental pollution. Consequently, by solving the problem of rational use of natural resources, society, firstly, saves natural resources from depletion, and secondly, reduces environmental pollution.
Unbalanced relationship between society and nature, i.e. irrational use of natural resources often leads to an ecological crisis and even an ecological catastrophe.
If modern economic and political practices are maintained, industrial growth and the consumption of resources and energy will continue to increase at an accelerating rate until a certain limit is reached. Then disaster will happen. The cause of the crisis is population growth and a social mania for growth, when at every level (individual, family, class, national) one goal is set - to become richer and more powerful, without taking into account the cost of exponential growth.
Attempts to predict the future of the whole world on the basis of mathematical models and computer technology have led to the emergence of a new interdisciplinary direction - global modeling. The World Conservation Strategy was adopted.
Environmental monitoring (environmental monitoring) is a system for monitoring, evaluating and predicting the state of the natural environment surrounding a person. The ultimate goal of environmental monitoring is to optimize the relationship of man with nature, as well as the ecological orientation of his economic activity. At the turn of the II and III millennium AD. e. there is a paradigm shift in human thinking and practical activity – economic priorities are replaced by ecological ones. The economic imperative that prevailed until the end of the 20th century is increasingly being replaced by an ecological one. It is on whether humanity will be able to achieve a reasonable combination of economic and environmental interests in the near future that its future depends on.

I have an issue with my PhD Thesis and I hope SOMEONE can help me in clarifying or suggesting a solution to this question.
My research problem statement revolves around the low level of ICT integration in the classroom.
The research aims to measure teachers' beliefs and attitudes toward the integration of ICT IN TEACHING.
To conduct this research I suggested using the decomposed theory of planned behaviour (DTPB) model. This model measures the effect of 3 main constructs in predicting the intention of teachers toward the integration of ICT and tendencies for actual integration. below is the original model of DTPB.
In my research, I seek to investigate the actual integration of ICT, not the intention to integrate ICT.
MY QUESTION IS:
Why don't I remove the (intention to integrate ICT) from the proposed model as long as I'm only interested in measuring the actual integration of ICT within the class?
Thanks in advance

Dear Jaber,
Given below are my personal observation on your research problem-
1) Who are the participants of your research - is important to address first.
2) How are you proposing to measure actual integration of ICT?
3) What role Behavior intention can play ? Is it moderating or moderating. Best reply may come from the possibile models..

I am really confused with the variables that we will use in our study. We aim to identify the direct influence of consumer attitude toward pop-up ads on their purchase intention. In our framwork, the purchase intention is the dependent variable. However, the consumer attitude itself can be influenced by pop-up ads, so I believe that it cannot be labeled as the 'independent variable', since it depends on the pop-up ads.
My question is, what type of variable is the attitude, as well as the pop-up ads, if our main focus in the study is the attitude and purchase intention?
Relevant answer
Answer
I would say it depends how you want to use this variable of attitude in your model and interpretation. Is it a covariate you are controlling for? Is it a possible moderator or mediator? You may even want to run additional analysis stratifying subjects by attitude parameter. These are important considerations before you build your model. If you just want to control for attitude and effectively regress it out, these would typically be considered covariates of no interest.

Hello,
I am currently writing my bacherlor's thesis and I am now at my results part. However, I am not quite sure which test I should use now to answer my hypothesis, two-way ANOVA or multiple lineair regression?
My hypothesis are
H1: Purchase intention is higher for advertisements that use human influencers (vs. virtual).
H2: Self-esteem will moderate the effect of the type of influencer on purchase intention.
In which self-esteem and type of influencer (human vs virtual) are the independent variables and purchase intention is the dependent variable.
Thank you.

For H1, you have one categorical independent variable, so I guess you should go with one-way ANOVA.
For your H2, I'm not sure. Do your virtual influencers also have self-esteem?

Answer
Dear Bas Bar, I hope that I can shed some light on your negative loadings. It is well-known that the factors in the common factor model cannot be solved for uniquely even if the factor model fits perfectly and the factor loadings are known (see, e.g., Nicewander, 2020; Steiger, 1979, 1996). The unrotated model can be rotated with an infinite number of rotations without altering the model fit. This provides an indeterminacy in the model because no information in the data is available that can determine the best possible rotation for the factors. Therefore, positive or negative factor loadings may be arbitrary.
I once performed an EFA with the result that all items of one of the factors loaded negatively on this factor. When I used Promax rotation instead, all factor loadings were positive.

What's the best way to handle this?
Should I change the items for this construct and continue with the same questionnaire? Can I sill use my first 100 responds then? Would those values look better with a larger sample size?
Thanks for your help!
Relevant answer
Answer
Hello again Matthias,
If your indicator/manifest variables have a well-vetted rationale for inclusion in the first place, I believe that worrying over "too high" values for estimates of composite reliability is a waste of time and energy.
First, Hair et al. note that composite reliability (CR) estimates are upward biased (whereas, according to Lord and Novick, coefficient alpha is a lower bound for internal consistency reliability). Second, I presume you and your colleagues have avoided obvious pitfalls such as including the same variable multiple times in a model.
Finally, and most important, please note that the admonition about CR being above .90 as undesirable presumes all constructs to be both fairly broad and (virtually) impossible to capture all relevant indicators. That may or may not be the case, but I doubt that it's universal. The thresholds you cite should be taken as guidelines, and not commandments.
Is it typical to have values so high (and this is what Christian Geiser addresses)? No. Is it impossible? Again, no. Is such a value proof of incorrect model specification? No. Does obtaining such values mean you should abandon your work? No. Should you validate your results with another sample? Always a good idea!. Doing so gives more confidence that your results are not sample specific, and therefore may generalize to the target population.
Good luck with your project.

I am measuring attitude, behavioural intention, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control with an online survey. Each of the mentioned variables have been measured using 3x likert scale questions.
I have combined the 3 questions and calculated the median for each to come up with a final ''score'' for each variable out of 5 - is this final score still ordinal data or does it become scale data?
Relevant answer
Answer
Hello again Annie,
The median is simply that "central" numeric value on some scale (regardless of its strength) which splits a distribution into halves. Of course, for an ordinal scale, two different medians may be compared for equality, but any interval separating them may not have some one-to-one correspondence to some scale (as is the case, say, for median temperatures between two cities). Depending on your specific research question, ordinal regression may well be suitable.
A follow-up to David Eugene Booth : note that: (a) I put the "grit" option (decided not to go with prayer this time, lol) as last; and (b) I did qualify it as technically wrong. Whether you or I like it or not, the literature is replete with examples of single Likert-type response values being used as a metric variable, let alone scores derived from summing a small set of such values, even though most know that doing so isn't the preferred choice.
Best regards to all.

Hi! I am trying to run the following multiple linear regression in R:
r ~ condition (1 = Control, 2 = Active Control, 3 = Treatment, 4 = Importance Treatment) + type (0 = false, 1 = true) + age (13, 14, 15, adult) + domain (1 = eco, 2 = health, 3 = society, 4 = culture)
r is the intention to share a certain headline for a certain participant (initially given on a 6-points scale but the score being transformed into a variable comprised between 0 and 1) , where participants are randomly assigned to 4 conditions, and we want to test the respective effect of 2 treatment conditions vs 2 controls on the intention to share false headlines (we predict it will reduce the sharing of fake news, without impacting the sharing of real news), knowing that in all the conditions the main task consists in assessing the intention to share 24 headlines successively presented to the participant, half false half true (so we also want to know the effect of the "type" of the headline, being true or false; and eventually the effect of its category - within the 2 sets of headlines, we always have 1/4 of headlines with an economic subject, 1/4 on health, 1/4 on "society", and 1/4 on culture, although it is less important); and finally we are testing different age groups (13, 14, 15 years old, as well as an "adult" group with participants aged from 25 to 36 years old pooled together), to know if the effect predicted varies with age etc.
The main hypothesis of our study are :
-that treatments will improve discernment, defined as the difference between the intentions (r > 0.5) to share true news and the intentions to share fake news (ie it will really improve the quality of sharing, and not merely causing general skepticism),
-that this effect will be higher for headlines perceived as the most inaccurate (there will be an analysis on headlines as well, based on pretest), as we suppose the effect of the treatment works by refocusing the attention of the participant on the accuracy criterion, hence being greater for headlines that were generally (we will calculate a mean perceived accuracy for each headline across participants) perceived as the least accurate ones, and that will be consequently the ones for which sharing intentions will drop the most thanks to the treatment
-We have no particular prediction concerning age, which is precisely the novelty of the study (the literature review concerning adolescents' ability to evaluate fake news and their sharing online leaving the door open to quite different scenari)
-and no prediction for domain as well (we expect it won't play a role as the headlines have been chosen to be quite similar in tone, whatever the category)
Also, I need to cluster by participant (since there are repeated measures for each participants) and headline (multiple ratings for each headline).
I thought of using lm_robust but I don't know if we can put 2 clusters directly?
I also wonder what is the simplest way to check for potential effect of other secondary measures (like scores on a Cognitive Reflexion Task, gender, CSP appartenance etc): do I have to do regression testing all simple effects, interaction etc, or can I just add them to the global formula?
Thanks in advance!

Per protocol analysis is a method used in RCT...are there any disadvantages of Per protocol analysis over intention to treat analysis?
Relevant answer
Answer
Suraj Kapoor - there are major disadvantages in a per-protocol analysis vs intention to treat. In very simple terms the two groups compared in a pe protocol analysis are not formed by randomisation alone - they are formed by random allocation to groups + whatever process led to them not following the protocol. The potential for bias is large. In most cases, the factors that may generate bias are unmeasured and so cannot be quantified. Conceptually intention to treat mimics the process of real-world treatment and so can estimate average treatment effects when a treatment is used. Of course in reality the world is more complex than that and per-protocol analysis has a role to estimate effects in treated individuals. However I would say that the itrinsic bias means any caual inference must be weaker and if possible it should be secondary to an intention to treat analysis.

This species can be eaten by humans when it is fresh, but it is also processed into fishmeal and used as bait for catching other sharks and bony fish. I'm not sure what the situation is in India, but if aquaculture is a growing industry on the coastlines, then its use for fishmeal might be driving the increased landings. As secondary and tertiary consumers, spadenose sharks are likely to accumulate toxins in their tissues from their pery species - I suspect the level of toxicity would depend very much on the background levels in their home environments. Because this is a coastal species which also frequents the lower ends of river mouths, I would be very wary of eating this species as it lives areas which are more likely to be polluted. I hope this helps.

Relevant answer
Answer
We already know that control variables seek to rule out alternative answers to those sought in the study. They are factors that influence the dependent and independent variables but are not the object of the study. The differentiating aspect of control variables is that they are considered alien to the model, unrelated to the hypotheses being tested (SPECTOR; BRANNICK, 2011). However, many studies include control variables with no specific theoretical interest, sometimes without a clear justification for their use or present reduced comments. Given this context, I suggest pondering whether there is a theoretical and methodological assumption that justifies the need for the inclusion of these variables.

The effects of QE, quantitative easing, are becoming more apparent as years of using this monetary policy stimulus go by. This policy instrument is fairly new since it was used for the first time around 20 years ago. At first, the intention was to use it as a temporary solution and then do it in reverse by QT, quantitative tightening.
Relevant answer
Answer
Some people will not like this...but there is a lot of politics in QE! The simple political element lies in the fact that many governments ended up using QE no longer in terms of the monetary policy tools of old, but simply in terms of appearing to look good with their electorates by appearing to make giveaways to workers and businesses. In the process a new sort of mindset was (consciously or unconsciously) enticed which changed that sense of businesses and workers as always being predominantly the creators (through their hard work!) of their own day to tomorrow and the futures after that.
QE yes ended up in fattening various central banks' balance sheets because in passing on funds to government for dishing out to "the people", or delaying receipt of credits on the governments' account with them, it central bank would merely be tinkering its own balance sheet. But governments' own balance sheets become ever more the harbingers of bad national financial management in line with the worsening of Budget Deficits and National Debts.

I have calculated both the Pearson's correlation coefficient and the standardized beta coefficient using a multiple regression analysis. They are similar, but give a slightly different ranking for the 4 predictors.
Can someone tell me why they result in different rankings, and perhaps which analysis to use primarily (or even to remove one)? I currently do not know if SCRAVG or VALAVG has more impact on PURAVG.

Dear Noud,
As to the unique contributions of your independent variables in predicting your DV the semipartial correlations give the clearest answer (not the zero-order correlations, not the partial correlations and neither the standarized beta weights). Semipartial correlations (symbolized by ' sr ') when squared, indicate the amount by which Rsq would be reduced if an IV were omitted from the equation . In SPSS regression analysis output the semipartial correlations are labeled PART COR. International exchanges are inevitable in order to develop our projects and to ensure a sufficient critical base for the research. This confronts us with the problem of translating ideas, concepts and results that have developed in our local working language. As we know, English nowadays plays the role of the pivotal language in most conferences and publications. My intention is not to argue with this position -- a pivotal language is needed -- but to understand what are the main problems raised by writing and communicating in a language that is not the one in which the work is done.
English speakers themselves must question the meaning of words, sometimes neologisms, used by a non-English speaker. Of course, what is at stake is not the words but the meaning they convey. These issues are being addressed in the study of learning mathematics in a second language, or in the study of the variety and variability of teachers' vocabularies in different languages.
As researchers the issue is somewhat different. In particular, we must coin words and expressions to name phenomena or concepts in our own working language and then the challenge of translating them, or to understand words and expressions specific to the domain coming from another cultural and linguistic environment-- sometimes via the pivotal language.
I am preparing a short essay on these issues. I will appreciate your contributions, hence my questions:
Do you have examples to share or any particular experience? What do you think about the reasons for these difficulties and the impact they may have on your own communication?

This is an interesting question to think about.
Not sure whether this is what you are interested in, but here is my recent story. As a context, I operate with English, Hebrew, and Russian, while being aware that I mastered none of them.
Recently, a colleague from Israel and I have been working on a project, the data for which comes from a NZ university. The project is about the first teaching steps of people whom we didn't know how to call. In the North American context, the usual term is "teaching Assistant". But this term was recently criticized. The colleague and I talk in Hebrew, where we use "metargel" - literally, a person who leads a practice or an action of practicing something. This duality works nicely as "metargel matematika" as a person whose job is to practice math with students and as the key action of the job. We thought that the closest term in English is "tutor", and we saw that UK-based researchers use it. We also found a previous study from NZ that used this work. Thus, we were confident in our linguistic decision.
But then we sent a paper from this project to an American conference. Being aware that "tutor" may be confusing for that audience, we added a footnote about it on page 2. One of the reviewers wrote that they strongly object to the use of the word and wrote that if we insist on it, the explanation should feature in the very first sentence.

I am analyzing the effect of micro-influencers (those that have YouTube and no YouTube) on intention to travel. I have weather as a covariate and one moderator and mediator. I did a survey about this and used Likert scale in the answers so how do I analyze this in R? I want to show that micro-influencers with YouTube have a higher effect on intention to travel. Should I also do a SEM analysis to see what factors the questions load in? Please help!

Maybe the R script in attachment could be useful. It tests for the homogeneity of slopes (an essential assumption for an ANCOVA) and for the normality of residuals; it calculates adjusted means

The samples are from marine and wild animals with bacterial, fungal and parasitic agents. Some cases are first reported in the world. My intention is to join histopathology with the identification of these infectious agents.
Relevant answer
Answer
OK, so you have (or will have) genomic data from the samples, and want to correlate that with histopathology ? Standard histopathologic methods can only very broadly indicate the presence of agents, eg. for bacteria you can confirm presence of gram-negative or gram-positive, for fungi you can confirm with a PAS or a silver stain the presence of the agents and look at their morphology, etc... But you will not be able to identify down to the species or even genus in most cases. For this you need immunohistochemical stains, which require having a specific antibody for each of the agents you want to confirm. Such antibodies might be available for known agents, but for novel ones it will not be possible.

Hello guys!
My problem is as follows: I am now writing my dissertation which is concerned with the extent to which customers' purchase intention is affected by information provided by anonymous vs familiar person. Independent variables in the study include argument quality, credibility etc. and purchase intention is dependent variable.
So, let's say I have four variables.
SocialMedia Argument Quality which predicts SocialMedia Purchase Intention
Anonymous Argument Quality which predicts Anonymous Purchase Intention.
Now, I would like to compare which effect is stronger. Normally, if there was only one dependent variable, I would simply run a multi regression and check the standardised beta to gain insight into which predictor impacts outcome more... However, here I have two independent variables and two dependent. How to approach this situation?
In the past, a similar study was conducted (Erkan & Evans 2016, the influence of eWOM...) and authors seem to have conducted multi regression - although they measured purchase intention twice for anonymous and familiar sources, they somehow computed a single variable out of it and then use both socialmedia argument quality and anonymous argument quality as independent variables, then simply taking standardised beta. Is that even a valid approach? How to compute a single purchase intention as a dependent variable if there are in fact two variables reflecting it (anonymous and familiar source purchase intention?
I would gladly appreciate help, as its crucial for my dissertation.
All the best!
Relevant answer
Answer
Might be a Partial dependence plot (PDP) that helps you to fix it.
Through PDP you can understand and visualize how the model predictions are influenced by each predictor when all other predictors are being controlled. Partial dependence plots are used to interpret the output of complex machine learning models.
I can help you to run PDP in your case.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks

I'm conducting qualitative research and had originally set out to interview around 15 participants from two groups (30 in total), which represented two perceptions of the same conversations. Group one is fine (15), however, I struggled with the recruitment of the second group (5) and I'm trying to reach out to fellow researchers who may have encountered a similar issue.
My current intention is to take group one data and use reflexive TA to analyze it. Then treat the data from group two as a supporting case study to provide a comparative perspective.
Has anyone followed a similar approach? and if not, what approaches have been used for data in such circumstances?
Relevant answer
Answer
A study can have both quantitative and qualitative research approaches, although one could argue that a qualitative study would best precedes a quantitative survey. .Thus, you could present arguments / a case for interpreting qualitative data using, eg, phenomenography perspectives. In which case, you are describing "ways of interpreting" the concepts that you are exploring. In this paradigm you are not sampling people as such, you are sampling "ways of conceptualising". These outcomes would not claim for external generalisability (your stats), but they could enhance internal validity. And you could argue for reader generalisability.

Hello everyone,
Please I will like to get your ideas on how to calculate the d-band center of a bimetallic crystal. My intention is to eventually see how the d-band center affects the performance (rate, yield e.t.c) of a heterogeneous reaction that takes place in the presence of the bimetallic crystal.
Thanks and regards,

My name is Laura Lomax and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Bolton completing my 3rd-year project, under the supervision of Professor Jerome Carson. My study is examining whether adverse childhood experiences (ACES), affect an individual’s level of flourishing in adulthood.
Your participation should take approximately 10-15 minutes and will require minimal demographic information such as age, gender, and country. There are two questionnaires to complete, with eight short questions at the end. The first questionnaire consists of 10 questions regarding Adverse Childhood Experiences and the second questionnaire has a total of 23 questions that all relate to one’s flourishing.
Participation in the study is voluntary and you are free to withdraw from the study at any time before the last question. Completing the survey is giving your consent to participate. Once you have completed the questionnaire and pressed ‘submit’, you will no longer be able to withdraw from the study. Please note that all responses to this study are completely anonymous and your identity will remain unknown throughout. Once submitted, all data will be stored in line with the General Data Protection Regulation. The only people with access to the results are the researcher and her supervisor.

I have a series of agar plates with fungi exposed to various concentrations of volatile compounds. My original intention was to take simple measurements of diameter but growth is irregular and I would prefer to find the area of growth for each to compare.
Each plate is 9 cm diameter and images were taken with tripods and cropped equally so size is equal enough across each.
I've started to look at ImageJ but struggling as I'm starting from scratch.

Hi there Ben Clunie.
Apparently, you are using mycelial disks to inoculate your test plates, resulting in multiple colonies. Using disks is easier and faster, but it also can result in non-intended colony growths. I would suggest you work with conidial/spore suspension (Ankita Das gave you a good suggestion) or use a single spore methodology (time-consuming).
However, independently of the initial steps, you could use some free image analysis software to fast measurement. I have been using ImageJ, and you can find and download it here https://imagej.net/downloads. It is open-source software for processing and analyzing scientific images. They also provide plenty of training materials.

Hello everyone!
I am conducting a study on the intention to pay a service after applying three different treatments.
Respondents will first be asked whether or not they pay for the service. Then they will be shown a stimulus. After the stimulus they will be asked again about their intention to pay for the same service in the future.
Therefore, I will have three variables:
-Pretest: whether they pay for the service before (dichotomous variable).
-Treatment: which of the three treatments was applied (categorical variable: 1,2,3).
-Posttest: whether they pay for the service afterwards (dichotomous variable).
I read that I can use McNemar's test, but I would like to know if with a logistic regression I could use all three variables, and know if the treatments produce a change in payment intention and which treatment is better.
I would also like to know if other factors (age, ethical level, etc.) can be included to determine if they influence the change in intention to pay.
Best regards.

Dear all,
I was expecting as usual general negative effect between trust(conceptualized) and perceived risk(conceptualized). however the the path coefficient is positive and significant in SmartPLS. I am confused, how can i explain it? what could be the reasons?
however, perceived risk and intention have negative effect as expected.

Answer
Kapil Gurung it is always difficult to test a model with positive and negative variables and the most relevant reason can be the way a negative construct is measured. Historical validity of a questionnaire, proven by credible literature, helps a researcher in using a negative measure. In your case, though paths are significant, Perceived risk is neither an Effective predictor of Intention (8%) nor is an Effective Mediator (2%) between Trust and Intention. Your respondents might give negligible weightage to Risk in using using AirBnB. Age group and Gender might be significant covariates in your study as well.
Try to use Perceived Risk as a Moderator on the positive relationships of your study. Tq.

Dear All,
I am new to research and very little knowledge on using different approaches to a research problem. I present below my problem, please guide to resolve this.
I have initially framed an objective to identify the factors influencing the intention to use a technology using SEM. A conceptual model was framed using 12 variables based on literature review. The data collection began just before the pandemic situation (March 2020). Due to lockdown the data collection was slow and was completed in April 2021. Meanwhile, the circumstances in the area of my research drastically changed within a year. Now, I could find a lot of users of this technology and I feel that I could have measured the 'users' Satisfaction as well'. Recently, I found a lot of user reviews on this technology. My Supervisor is suggesting to add another objective to find "user experience" based on the User Reviews using Topic Modelling.
Is this approach correct? The first objective is of identifying the factors that influence behavior intention to use the technology using primary data (questionnaire tool). The second objective is to study the user experience in using the technology based on the users' reviews by extracting opinion features .
Is this approach a redundant one? Can I go with the second objective? If so, what's the justification should I give for adding the second objective ?
Please provide your advice/suggestions.
Thank you

Answer
your reasoning is definitely correct in the sense that your methods are indeed able to help you answer your research question. I would however say that if a method is 'good' or 'bad' depends on much more, for instance of your field of research and the level of experience of your intended audience (scientific, practicioners, background in NLU or not...). Since you mention a supervisor but also that you are new to research, I assume you are currently writing some form of undergraduate thesis. If that is correct and you have a page limit to stick to (say 60 pages or less), I would recommand to just select one method. It's always better to perform one analysis thoroghly than to lose your audience half way through your paper.
Good luck with you project!
