History of Law - Science topic

I am trying to evaluate the impact of legal cabinets in crafting the "rules" of the produce exchanges. I have individuated a couple of "global" law firms that helped the writing of futures markets. While there is a good bunch of studies about engineering or managing consults (such as PWco or McKinsey), I was wondering if you know any scholar who studied the history of any leading legal firm and its impact on the business world. I am working on the subject of how Italian private law was used as a model for drafting legislation in other European countries.
