Questions related to Historical
Sir, I was trying to download daily historical data for CMIP5 and CMIP6 GCMs. I planned to download 10 CMIP5 GCM and 12 CMIP6 GCM. However, daily historical data of each predictor variable was around 25-30 gb which include data from the whole world. There are around 20 variables involved in this study. Thus, the datasets become very huge in size. How could I tackle the problem?
Does anyone know of papers or data discussing the historical connection between the Syr Darya and the Tarim rivers? Loaches found in these two rivers' basins are nested on the same clade of the phylogenetic tree when studied molecularly. We speculate whether these two basins were previously connected.

however, I have trouble filling the sample sizes in tpl files
so far I just fill the sample sizes with *2 of my empirical sampling sizes (cause my focal species is diploid so pop0=181*2, pop1=24*2)
however, these sample sizes tremendously increase the computation time to almost 1 month (I'm using Linux with 10 cores for each model)
to save computation time, will the estimated parameters be strongly affected by the smaller sample sizes I give in my scenario (e.g., only use half the original sample sizes)?

I have a dataset of observed temperature data for a small region that I want to use in order to bias correct the RCM data provided by the website "esgf-data.dkrz".
However, in the experiment tab I found "evaluation / historical/ RCP4.5/RCP8.5”.
- I know this RCP are for future scenarios (not bias corrected) but what are the two others used for?
- In addition, I don't know which software to use to correct the data?
Logically I should correct the "historical" data experiment based on my observed one then do a projection for the RCP4.5.

Proprietary algorithms developed by corporate incentives process massive amounts of data to reveal information about emerging social, economic and health trends that inform market strategies and product development. Currently, it is not known to which extent this information is shared or by whom.
These technological advancements offer both opportunity as well as challenges to academic researchers. Given the speed and the amount of data being generated today, are we as academic researchers able to keep up with industry-generated knowledge and standards while bound to the confines and processes of our oversight committees and current funding models? What are the obstacles and opportunities facing the academic research milieu that ensure its relevance in the age of technological advancement? This conversation has just started. How can I access Canada streamflow data at an hourly scale or finer? I found that only 18 recent months' streamflow data are available(real-time data) at a 5 min scale, but historical data are just available at a daily scale; is it possible to access historical streamflow data (Canada) at an hourly or finer scale?
I am applying PLAPS rate on my SWAT model under climate scenarios, and I am applying a PLAPS rate of 2.1 mmH2O/km in the historical period (1981-2019) does not have big impact on the precipitation trend (i.e. the precipitation decadal averages from raw pcp files are very similar to pcp taken from std file which is expected).
However when the model start the future values (2020-2099) the decadal average of pcp from raw files start to look different from the pcp files obtained from SWAT std file (in other words the pcp obtained from SWAT showes a big jumps) while my understanding that they should remain with the same trend? any suggestion where the problem might be?
Note: when PLAPS is put back to 0, the historical and predicted pcp trend are identical.

The websites I have found give 24-hr rainfall totals, but are not delineated from 0000 to 2400 hrs (whole calendar days). Instead, they relate the metrics from, say, rainfall falling within 1730hrs to 1730hrs on different calendar days, presumably the times when personnel actually checked the gauges.

I am trying to find historical weather data for the city of Lorca located in Murcia (years 2014 onwards). I am looking for daily data on minimum and maximum temperatures, precipitation, wind speed data, relative humidity and solar radiation.
I am using the quantile delta method for bias correction of future rainfall data (NA-CORDEX).
As my observed data are point (station) wise CSV files. I have extracted for corresponding locations. All the annual average value for both historical, future and observed rainfall seems fine which comes ~1000-1500 mm. Boxplot for unique rainfall values in historical, future model, and observed data are attached. Here, on wet days, the minimum value for observed data is 2.54 mm.
I found bias-corrected rainfall annual data is 20 times larger than the raw data ( Which I have checked with other approached too like mixed distribution having gamma distribution, Gamma Quantile Mapping, and found nearly the same result). This seems an unrealistic result.
Does anyone get such results or I am doing it in the wrong way?

for our project we need a source for temperature data fulfilling following criteria:
1. we need historical hourly temperature data
2. a whole year has to be covered (ideally a recent year, like, e.g. 2019) --> perfect would be a csv-file with 8760/8784 time stamps, each containing a temperature value
3. The data should be available for any geographical position worldwide (at least for any land location, where you could imagine a business or an industrial plant, since we need the data for calculations regarding these types of building)
4. The data should be for free
5. The data should be allowed for the use within a commercial application
6. In the first step, one dataset for a specific location, downloaded manually is enough. In the long run, we need to get the data for many different locations with a python-function within our project
It is quite difficult, to find a website that fulfills all these criteria. For instance, the NOAA site gets very close to our requirements. However, the data only covers the USA and it has to be requested and then gets sent per mail. We need, however, data for any continent, and we want to automate the process of getting the data from the website. This site wunderground, on the other hand, only provides hourly data for a single day, but not for a year.
Does someone know a website, that fulfills ALL the criteria, where we can get these data from?
