One often sees wringing of hands when the subject of robots is brought up, the most common objection being, what will people do to earn a living? The same complaint one has heard ever since the beginning of the Industrial Evolution.
Let's be very brief:
The complaint is based on the assumption that corporations own the robots, so the average joe will have nothing of value to offer the economy, will earn nothing, so this plays havoc with the economy.
What if, instead, the average joe owns one or more robots? What if people become the agents of their own robots, and earn their living by selling the labor produced by their robot(s)?
For the time being, I'm not putting limits on the design of the robots. To be very simplistic, assume a humanoid machine, that can literally work in our place. But in fact, robots can also be whatever - vending machines, ATMs, GPS-guided lawn mowers, autonomous cars, and so on.
So instead of removing the value offered by the human, the robot does the work for the human, and the owner is paid for that work.
The economics of actually buying the robots is not too unusual. People can buy robots as they buy anything that's relatively expensive today. The difference being, the robot earns its keep, by being paid directly for its labor, while, for example, a car is just an expense, for most people.
In short, the drudgery is taken away from the human worker, but a human individual is still being paid for doing the work.

[Abstract
Disruptive technological advances will have profound impacts on the employment landscape over the years to come. As in the past, new technologies will change the way humans live and work. Some occupations will become obsolete, while new occupations will emerge. Consequently, people will be displaced from some occupations, be forced to require new skills so that they can work in new occupations. Although the introduction of new technologies –robotization– has many dimensions, its effects will range from structural unemployment to distribution of labor income. The first question would be what will be the impact of new technologies on labor demand? Given that new technologies expectedly increase productivity, hence income, the second question would be how the raise be distributed between low and high skilled labor. Hence, this study focuses on the effects of robotization on the structural unemployment, its implications on labor demand and its income distribution effects. I review the current situation of robotization, and make recommendations to policy makers and corporate managers to get prepared for accelerating robotization and not only to mitigate its potential adverse effects on employment and income distribution, but also to take this as an opportunity to increase the quality of life for all.]

In addition, it might be a good idea to take some entry-level or introductory online courses on probability and statistics before delving into the manual which can be very daunting. I have used some 20 years SPSS software to design research projects on chemical processes at the industrial manufacturing level. There was no other ways to go around that. I have developed a chemical product that has to be manufactured in large scale (5,000 to 10,000 lbs) as described in the patent i have posted on this site. while there are no statistical numbers described, I can tell you that designs of experiments and process optimizations I have conducted require applied statistics that involves software such as SPSS.
I believe you can do it. Make sure you are using it in the context of a specific project

I have recently published a paper in the Skeptical Inquirer review (Volume 48, No. 6, Nov./Dec. 2024): https://skepticalinquirer.org/2024/10/is-science-progressive-or-conservative/.
I would love to read your reactions!
Here is the introduction (you can read more if you click on the link above + the great audio version):
In our modern world, we consider science to naturally go hand in hand with progress.1 These two concepts are almost perceived as synonyms. Science is progress; I believe in science as I believe in progress. We then consider ourselves progressive, as supporters of progress, “moving forward” in the etymological sense of the word. Progress is often opposed to conservation, with the latter being seen as a symbol of inertia, i.e., resistance to change. In the eyes of the general public and progressive intellectuals, science—which is constantly advancing—cannot be conservative. By conservative, I mean preserving, safeguarding, and maintaining things, structures, and unchanging ideas. But is science only progressive?
Scientific ideas are often seen as revolutionary, wiping away the past, the tabula rasa. However, while ideas evolve, change, and modify, they still preserve certain older ideas that inspire the new ones. In this sense, we will see that science preserves more than it changes. But this is not opposed to progress. Actually, the foundation of science itself obeys a law of conservation, despite being in constant motion. As for scientists, Albert Einstein is the famous symbol of both scientific and political progress (Person of the Century 1999). We often hear that he revolutionized physics and our understanding of nature. However, the historical reality is more complex than we think. Einstein could be a staunch conservative in many aspects, while other scientists who are perceived as more conservative were more open to progress.
This article examines the contradictions and hesitations between progress and conservation inherent to science and the people who shape it through the illustrious example of Einstein. We will defend the thesis that sciences are built in the image of nature, i.e., preserving what needs to be preserved and constantly evolving to endure. At the end, we will support the idea of the existence of a complementarity rather than a dichotomy between progress and conservation in the construction of science.

Hi, as a synthetic chemist, I decided to look into basics of UV spectroscopy. The thing I got stuck with is the enrrgy of a specific transition (for d3 octahedral ion - due to Td-Oh and electron-hole expansions can be generalized to some other configurations):
  • For a d³ ion in an octahedral field, my CFSE calculations (with respect to the ⁴F "free ion" ground term) give:
  • ⁴A₂g: -1.2Δoct
  • ⁴T₂g: -0.2Δoct (so, the ⁴F → ⁴T₂g gap is 1.0Δoct)
  • (F)⁴T₁g: +0.8Δoct (2*0.6Δoct-1*0.4Δoct=0.8Δoct).
For the (F)⁴T₁g state, however, the correct value is +0.6Δoct (I checked a handful of textbooks but could not find an explanation. Note that the electron repulsion term x should not be relevant as it is explicitly treated in the next step and the final energy of the ⁴T₁g state is 0.6Δoct-x. (the d3 octahedral Orgel diagram from Housecroft, C. E.; Sharpe, A. G. Inorganic Chemistry, 4th ed.; Pearson: Harlow, England, 2012, p695 with a few notes is attached) Am I missing something?
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Pavel
That's indeed an interesting question. I am not a spectroscopist, but here you have my understanding on this matter, which hopefully helps. I have done the numbers myself, and you are absolutely right, using a pure crystal field approximation, the 4T1g state should be at 0.8Δoct.
The thing here is that this (F)4T1g state can mix (due to having the same symmetry) with the higher energy (P)4T1g state. This will result in a slight lowering in energy for the (F)4T1g state and an increase in energy for the (P)4T1g.
The extent of the mixing (and energy stabilisation) cannot be calculated easily, because it depends on several factors including the Racah parameter (note the energy difference between F and P is approximated as 15B, with B being the Racah parameter). For this reason, it is normally calculated from experimental and/or computational data, and this gives an empirical value around 0.6Δoct. Nonetheless, this is still a rather crude approximation, because if you look at the experimental Tanabe-Sugano diagrams for d3 metals, you can observe that the energy difference between the T2g and T1g states is not constant (mainly due to the mixing of the aforementioned (P) and (F) 4T1g states).
Best wishes,
Martí

The debate about introducing eSports to the Olympics has been ongoing, and opinions are divided. On one hand, eSports has gained immense popularity globally, with a huge following and significant prize pools. Including eSports in the Olympics could attract a newer, younger audience and provide a platform for gamers to compete at the highest level ¹.
On the other hand, some argue that eSports doesn't align with the traditional Olympic values and spirit. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has expressed concerns about the violent content in some eSports games, which might not be suitable for the Olympic platform ².
Despite these concerns, the IOC has taken steps to incorporate eSports into the Olympic ecosystem. The inaugural Olympic Esports Week was held in Singapore in 2023, featuring games like Virtual Regatta, Tic Tac Bow, and Gran Turismo 7 ¹. The IOC has also announced plans to create an Olympic Esports Games, with the first edition scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia in 2025 ³.
Ultimately, whether eSports should be introduced to the Olympics is a matter of personal opinion. However, with the IOC's efforts to explore the possibility of including eSports in the Olympic program, it's clear that the organization is open to embracing new and innovative forms of competition ⁴.

Objective: Finding the optimal solution for an optimization problem involving bilinear constraints.
Relevant answer
Answer
Constraint handling is not necessarily an integral component of a specific metaheuristic but rather a general technique that can be incorporated into any algorithm, including metaheuristics, to address constraints effectively. There are various strategies to handle non-linear equality constraints, such as penalty functions, repair methods, decoders, or multi-objective approaches, which can be adapted based on the problem context and the chosen algorithm.

With the advent of the AI, the researchers across the globe are tempted to benefit from its substantial contribution to promoting their publications. Now, the issue at hand is the extent to which researchers can be deemed justified to use the AI help in preparing their article manuscripts to submit for publication, without having violated the ethics of research.
Relevant answer
Answer
Researchers can ethically use AI in manuscript preparation for tasks like improving grammar, style, literature review assistance, and data analysis, as long as the researcher's intellectual responsibility and originality are maintained. AI should not replace the researcher's own ideas or critical thinking. Transparency is key: AI usage must be disclosed, and AI-generated content must be original and properly cited to avoid plagiarism. Ethical concerns arise if AI is overused, particularly in drafting significant portions of the manuscript. Ultimately, AI should support, not substitute, the researcher's work.

I propose a discussion on my PDF-PowerPoint "Artificial Intelligence and Education: questions, opportunities, and perspectives". I used this PDF-PowerPoint for the lecture held as keynote speaker at the International Conference "Education & Artificial Intelligence", organised on Saturday, 9th November 2024 by the FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY - WIDYA MANDIRA CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF KUPANG. The development of Artificial Intelligence in different sectors has produced noteworthy changes: for instance, healthcare, financial sectors, and manufacturing have experienced profound changes due to the application of Artificial Intelligence. The education system is no exception in relation to the application of Artificial Intelligence: the sector of education has already experienced changes and will experience changes in the future, due also to the progress which Artificial Intelligence is making year after year. The theme of Artificial Intelligence in education has different aspects. On the one hand, the application of artificial intelligence gives the opportunity of personalised and efficient learning; it gives moreover the opportunity to improve the teaching activity. The chance of an automated assessment of the students is then to be added. Therefore, both the teaching sector and learning sector are interested by the application of Artificial Intelligence. On the other hand, ethical questions are connected to the subject of Artificial Education. Like every profound reform, the application of artificial intelligence in the sphere of education will confront us with a multi-faceted situation in which we shall find, at the same time, advantages and problems. The questions will go on for years and years: learning and teaching will experience profound changes so that the problems connected to the changes will be several. Due to the complexity of the questions connected to Artificial Intelligence, the questions of the application of Artificial Intelligence in the sphere of education ought to be discussed by teachers, parents, and directors of schools, i.e., the complexity of the question cannot be discussed exclusively in one environment: the complexity of the subject asks for analyses which ought to be fulfilled in different sectors. The discussion within the sector of the school is necessary, but not sufficient to investigate all questions connected to the application of Artificial Intelligence in the education of pupils. The discussion and the analysis of the problems connected to Artificial Intelligence ought to be fulfilled within the families of the pupils too.

The journey of integrating AI into education Gianluigi Segalerba will involve ongoing dialogue and assessment of both its benefits and drawbacks. Stakeholders—including educators, policymakers, parents, and students—must work collaboratively to navigate the evolving landscape, ensuring that the deployment of AI serves to enhance educational outcomes while addressing the challenges that arise. Continuous research, ethical considerations, and inclusive practices will be vital to harnessing the potential of AI in a way that promotes equity and quality in education.
Shifts in Academic Roles will also happen:
The role of instructors may shift from knowledge deliverers to facilitators and mentors, focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
With the rise of online learning platforms and self-directed study aided by AI, traditional models of higher education may face challenges.
There may be concerns about job security for educators and administrative staff as AI takes over certain roles.
While the disruption of academia by AI presents numerous opportunities for innovation, it also brings challenges that require careful consideration and a strategic approach from educational institutions, faculty, and students alike.
Conclusion: The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to disrupt various aspects of academia, including teaching, research, administration, and accessibility

There are frequently raining in Saudi Arabia nowadays, and causing floods, because Saudi Arabia is not well advanced in their building with draining system for water management.
Saudi Arabia must work on their water management draining system and to dig up reservoirs to restore rain water for water supply to country.

Relevant answer
Answer
Cloud seeding in Saudi Arabia Fatema Miah has been an area of interest for the government as part of its efforts to combat water scarcity and increase rainfall in the arid region. The Saudi Arabian government has invested in various weather modification technologies to enhance precipitation, particularly given the country’s desert climate and limited freshwater resources.
Cloud seeding typically involves the dispersion of substances like silver iodide, sodium chloride, or liquid propane into the atmosphere to encourage rain formation. In Saudi Arabia, aircraft are often used to deliver these agents into suitable clouds.
The Saudi government, through entities like the National Center for Meteorology, has initiated cloud seeding programs in various regions of the country. These efforts have been aimed at increasing rainfall to support agriculture, replenish water supplies, and mitigate the impacts of drought.
Saudi Arabia has collaborated with international experts and organizations on cloud seeding projects. Research has been conducted to assess the effectiveness of these interventions and to understand the climatic impacts better.
In recent years, there has been an increase in the scale and intensity of cloud seeding operations. The country has expanded its activities, launching numerous missions to seed clouds, particularly during the winter months when precipitation is more likely.
While cloud seeding can increase local rainfall, there are debates over its environmental impacts and ethical implications. Concerns have been raised about its effects on ecosystems, potential changes in weather patterns, and the allocation of resources in water-scarce regions.
The results of cloud seeding efforts can be variable, with factors such as the availability of suitable clouds playing a crucial role in success. Measuring the effectiveness of these interventions can be complex, as rainfall can be influenced by many climatic factors.
Cloud seeding remains a controversial and evolving field, with ongoing advancements in technology and research dedicated to optimizing its effectiveness while balancing environmental concerns.

Women, on the other hand, can become physically aroused (increased blood flow in the reproductive organs) without becoming psychologically aroused even in the slightest. (Robert Weiss)
Relevant answer
Answer
Thanks Darryl for commenting. I have concluded that intercourse is an act of territorial assault in its origins. No woman volunteers for intercourse without reliable contraception unless she wants to get pregnant. Over decades I have found intercourse to be non-arousing and non-orgasmic. This is natural as the receiver of male ejaculate. It is the penetrating male who is aroused by intercourse. Consequently women are not aroused with a lover. This is why female orgasm is such a mystery. Kinsey concluded that it occurs when women masturbate alone. This is also my personal conclusion because of the need for explicit erotic fantasy to achieve arousal. Female masturbation involves identifying with the penetrating male both physically (by stimulating the clitoral organ) and mentally (by identifying with the turn-on of penetrating another person). Cultural factors have no effect on sexual response which is an instinctive behaviour for a responsive individual. Very few women are responsive so most never experience orgasm. Again this explains the mystery over every aspect of female sexuality. Men assume that women should respond as men do. But we have two sexes because they need to be different. Women's role is to facilitate male orgasm and find a mate who will support them in raising the children resulting from intercourse. Women keep men tied into relationships and family by offering regular intercourse. This is a conscious behaviour rather than evidence of responsiveness.

Hello everyone,
I'm writing a research paper about the neurocognitive effects of COVID-19. I had 22 items in the survey referring to various cognitive impairments; taste/smell, use of hands, information processing, high level functioning, memory, and language/communication. I had to do factor analysis to group them for further analysis. In "component matrix," it looks like there are 2 categories I can create: 1. Taste/smell (first 6 items connected to this category) and the rest are together, I labeled them as "other cognitive impairments." Now I need to prepare a table to show factor loadings. I was checking which table in the output I needed to use for factor loadings, it says there should be a table labeled as "Rotated Component Matrix" but I don't have it in the output. I tried to see what I did wrong but everything looks correct. I used direct oblimin because for example the first 6 items refers to taste/smell, in correlation table I see there are some degrees of correlation between the items, not only for taste/smell but also in other areas.
My first question is do you have any idea why I don't see "Rotated Component Matrix"?
Second question is which table do I need to use for factor loadings? I thought I need to use "rotated component matrix," but I don't have it. I'm so confused about from which table do I need to report the factor loadings.
and lastly when I'm preparing the table, should I report it as how the factor analysis revealed? For example: Factor 1: Taste/Smell - Factor loadings: .... Factor 2: Other cognitive impairments - Factor loadings: ... OR as Factor 1: Taste/Smell, Factor 2: Use of hands, Factor 3: Information processing, etc.
I provided the output for factor analysis. I would really appreciate it if you could help.
Thank you so much.

Dear all
Does anyone know how to implement a minimum distance estimator in Stata? I have the parameters and the var/cov matrix from an unrestricted model and would like to estimate the following function:
Br = argmin(Br - Bu)*IM*(Br - Bu) subject to fi(xi, Br) >= 0
with IM the inverse of the var/cov matrix, Bu the Betas from the unrestricted model, Br the Betas from the restricted model and fi the derivative of the dependent variable with respect to each of the regressors (this is a translog production function, hence this derivatives do not correspond to the first order coefficient of the corresponding regressor but depends also on the crossed-effects, but that is not really relevant). How can I to do this in Stata? Please lend me a hand. This is the last thing I need to finish and publish the first article of my phd.

I have shown lattice fringes in the TEM image and calculated the lattice spacing as 0.35 nm for the prepared graphene quantum dots. I have only 3 days at my hand to answer the following question:
"The conclusion of a 0.35 nm lattice spacing in Fig. 5k seems too forced due to excessive lattice distortion?
Please suggest as soon as possible
Relevant answer
Answer
Two curving lattice fringes are not suitably fitted by using two straight lines.
You could try using a Fourier transform instead, that will use more of the image and would be a better way of extracting the periodicity in the image.

Question

I know I'm crossing a minefield in investigating this question.
There are at least two incompatible theories:
classical EM theory, where wave energy is continuous and
QM quantum theory, where the energy of EM waves is essentially discrete or quantized in photons.
So it depends on the theory we use to analyze this problem, not on the frequency of the wave.
If we follow QM theory, the answer is definitely no because the photon must have a positive momentum and therefore a positive frequency.
On the other hand, if we follow the classical theory of electromagnetic fields, the answer is yes but the photon itself is not defined.
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear friend Ismail Abbas
Alright, let's break this down.
If the frequency of electromagnetic waves (EMW) practically hit zero, you'd Ismail Abbas enter tricky territory. It's like navigating a minefield, with each step needing careful consideration.
Here's the deal:
1. **Classical EM Theory**: In this theory, wave energy flows continuously. So, if the frequency approaches zero, the energy remains continuous. However, this doesn't automatically make the energy of the photon continuous.
2. **Quantum Mechanics (QM)**: Now, in the quantum world, things get quantized. Energy is discrete, split into packets called photons. According to QM, even if the frequency is near zero, the energy of the photon remains quantized.
So, it boils down to which theory you're Ismail Abbas using.
- If we're rolling with QM, the answer is a solid no. Photons need positive momentum, which means they need positive frequency.
- But in the classical EM world, the answer could be yes, yet it's a bit tricky. The wave energy could become continuous, but the photon itself isn't precisely defined.
So, in the end, it's all about which lens you're Ismail Abbas looking through. Both theories have their quirks, and they don't always agree. Welcome to the wonderful world of physics, where the deeper you Ismail Abbas go, the weirder it gets!

Hi,
I have two rotamers from crystal structure data. I like to use the QST2 transition state search in Gaussian to investigate their interconversion barrier. Since they come from crystal structure data, the atom numbering/ordering of the two optimized rotamers is different. With around 100 atoms, I would really prefer not to try and renumber them by hand. Is there any automatic structure match and renumber routine out there, which would produce the two geometries with matching numbering?
Alternatively, if I have to go via the "traditional" TS search: is there any program which would allow to match/align two structures and to calculate an "averaged" structure from this? But I assume those would also require matching numbering...
Relevant answer
Answer
In addition to a great answer from Lucas Gian Fachini, I suggest you try out the "connection editor" of GaussView.
You open the structures of your rotamers in a single window and use the connection editor to match the numbers automatically or manually (sometimes! It is unavoidable. In my case, methyl groups). There, you will find multiple options to renumber; this can also help you get a good starting z-matrix (optimization in internal coordinates is generally better than in cartesian coordinates).
A quick way to get a TS guess is to interpolate between two structures; I use interpolation in internal coordinate or geodesic interpolation code (https://github.com/virtualzx-nad/geodesic-interpolate/tree/master). The latter code implements the method described in the paper " Geodesic interpolation for reaction pathways." You may need to write a custom code to extract information from the output.
I hope this helps.

A new trend of open an transparent peer reviewing is growing. In one hand, this would encourage reviewers to actively review because this save their intellectual property they add to the articles. In addition review reports will be more serious. On the other hand, being exposed to the Author(s) may lead to some critics. Please add your thoughts.
Relevant answer
Answer
Pros:
  1. Accountability: Open peer review can increase accountability, as reviewers know their comments will be publicly associated with their names.
  2. Quality: The transparency could lead to more thorough and constructive reviews, as reviewers are aware that their feedback will be visible to the public.
  3. Recognition: Reviewers can receive recognition for the work they put into the review process, which is often unseen in traditional peer review models.
Cons:
  1. Bias: There’s a risk that reviewers might be less likely to provide honest, critical feedback for fear of retaliation or damaging professional relationships.
  2. Time and Effort: The process might require more time and effort from reviewers, as they may feel the need to provide a more detailed critique knowing it will be publicly available.
  3. Potential for Abuse: There’s also a risk that comments could be taken out of context or used inappropriately.
In conclusion, while open and transparent peer review has potential benefits such as improving the quality and accountability of reviews, it also has potential downsides such as introducing bias and requiring more effort from reviewers. It’s a complex issue that requires careful consideration and ongoing research to fully understand its implications. 😊

Salt water does not evaporate faster than fresh water; in fact, fresh water always evaporates faster than salt water. This is because of the difference between the salt and water molecules. Water is a slightly volatile substance, meaning that it is capable of evaporation, while salt is a nonvolatile substance, so it is not as capable of evaporation.
Evaporation takes place on the surface of a substance. Fresh water has only water molecules on its surface area, which lets it evaporate easily. Salt water, on the other hand, has both salt and water molecules on its surface area. The salt molecules take up part of the surface area and prevent the water molecules from evaporating as quickly, which is why salt water always evaporates more slowly than fresh water.

During my research for my bachelors thesis into the classification of mining in the Reichsgruppe under the Nazi regime, I came across two different classifications:
  1. On the one hand, Boris Gehlen in his chapter "3.10 Energy industry" (in https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.1515/9783110796353-016/html?lang=de) assigned mining to the Reichsgruppe "Energy Industry", which sounds logical to me.
  2. On the other hand, I have found some works that explain that mining belonged to the Reichsgruppe "Industry": https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.1524/jbwg.1980.21.1.177/html
So which is correct?
I can only explain this apparent double classification by the central importance of mining for both economic sectors: On the one hand as a supplier of raw materials for industrial production and on the other as a key sector for energy supply.
Is it possible that in different sources and at different times the emphasis was placed more on one or the other affiliation, depending on which aspect of coal mining was in the foreground, so that it can be said that mining belonged to both groups?
Relevant answer
Answer
Chapter 3.10 by Gehlen deals with energy industry in general, not specifically with the Reichsgruppe "Energy Industry". Of course, energy industry is connected with mining. However, mining was organized as a "Wirtschaftsgruppe" (industry group) in "Hauptabteilung" (main department) I of the "Reichsgruppe Industrie" (see https://archivfuehrer-kolonialzeit.de/reichsgruppe-industrie-bestand?sf_culture=en and https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichsgruppe_Industrie). The Reichsgruppe "Industry" had 32 groups, whereas the much smaller Reichsgruppe "Energy Industry" had only two groups for "Electricity supply" and "Gas and water supply" (see https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichsgruppe_Energiewirtschaft).

I propose as a subject for a discussion the PDF-Powerpoint of the lecture "Analogies between Plotinus and Indian Philosophy" held on 1st March 2024 at the International Conference on Topic: Cultures in Transformation: A Subcontinental Experience International Conference organized by the Department of History in Collaboration with Northern Region Centre Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), 1-2 March 2024, Ram Lal Anand College, University of Delhi. I am working on a text connected to the PowerPoint. In my inquiry, I would like to expose some aspects of Plotinus’ thought which have, in my opinion, analogies with aspects of Indian Philosophy. I shall therefore concentrate my attention on Plotinus’ conception of the One, on the relations between One and multiplicity, on the separation of the individual from the One and on the return to the One. I shall then investigate the opposition expressed in the Upanishads between inauthentic reality and authentic reality, the initial position of the individual in the darkness and the return of the individual to the true dimension of reality. The individual’s ascent to the One in Plotinus and the liberation of the individual from the dimension of multiplicity will be a central theme of my exposition since it constitutes one of the analogies with some passages of the Upanishads in which the process of liberation of the individual from the ties of the average sense reality are described: the initial position of the individual as a position of decadence of the individual will be exposed by resorting to different passages of Plotinus’ Enneads.
The opposition between knowledge and opinion, on the one hand, and between intellect and sense perception, on the other hand, will be investigated in order to see the similarities with passages from the Upanishads in which the opportunity of a progressive detachment from the sense dimension is insisted on.
The common ground between Plotinus and the Upanishads proves to be the conception of philosophy as the revelation that the average way of living is inauthentic, that there is an authentic dimension of reality, that the individual ought to reach the authentic dimension of reality, and that a long process of training is needed for the individual to be able to reach the authentic dimension of reality. Furthermore, the description of the position of the One as an entity which is beyond all predicates can be analysed, in my opinion, with particular attention to the analogies which this subject can have with the descriptions of the nature of Brahman.
The main texts on which I will base my inquiry will be Plotinus’ Enneads, on the one hand, and the Upanishads, on the other hand.

Is there anyway I can just send them a copy of my paper digitally from my files? On your page with the requests, it has buttons for "publicly share paper." Is that where I can just upload my digital copy of the MS, and they can download it from there? I am getting mixed messages from your site as opposed to the CCC process which seems more like censorship than in the old days when an author could just send a copy to the colleague on their own without any money changing hands. Hi there,
The process can indeed vary depending on factors like copyright agreements and publisher policies. Here are some points to consider, such as: Copyright Policies, Author Sharing, Public Sharing and Censorship Concerns.
Ultimately, I think that the best course of action may depend on the specific policies of the publisher and any agreements you've made with them regarding sharing your work. If you're unsure, it's a good idea to review the publisher's policies or consult with them directly to ensure compliance while still facilitating access to your research.

Time is money! The fact that a dollar received tomorrow is not equivalent to a dollar in hand today. It is the fact that money always can earn a positive return that lends importance to the time dimension. A dollar given up today is not the equivalent of a dollar received in the future as long as there exists the alternative of earning a positive return on the dollar during the interim.
Is the time value of money only dependent on the affordance of a person or an organization to invest the equivalent amount of money?
Relevant answer
Answer
This is a very complicated question for me to give an answer to, considering my lack of knowledge in the field. However, I believe other factors have a significant contribution to the time value of money.
For example, in my opinion, as an intersubjective concept, the value of money over time is related to the perceived power it represents for its holders and users. If its power became unpredictable because of high uncertainty, people‘s affordability might have little to do with its value over time.
it is a very interesting topic and I hope to learn lots of concepts and scenarios through it.

Answer
Heisenberg's matrix mechanics is a formulation of quantum mechanics that was developed in the late 1920s. It is based on the idea of representing physical observables, such as position and momentum, using matrices. While Heisenberg's matrix mechanics has been highly successful in describing the behavior of particles at the quantum level, it is not directly applicable to macroscopic phenomena, including classical waves like sound waves.
The reason for this lies in the fundamental differences between the behavior of particles at the quantum level and the behavior of macroscopic objects or waves. Here are a few key points to consider:
  1. Quantum vs. Classical: Heisenberg's matrix mechanics is specifically designed to address the peculiarities and uncertainties inherent in the behavior of particles at the quantum level. Quantum mechanics is a framework that describes the behavior of particles on very small scales, where wave-particle duality and uncertainty principles become significant.
  2. Wave-Particle Duality: In the quantum realm, particles exhibit both wave-like and particle-like characteristics. This duality is a fundamental aspect of quantum mechanics. However, for macroscopic objects and classical waves like sound waves, the wave-particle duality is not as pronounced, and classical wave equations are typically sufficient to describe their behavior.
  3. Continuous vs. Discrete Spectra: Heisenberg's matrix mechanics is particularly useful when dealing with discrete energy spectra, as is the case in quantum systems. In contrast, classical waves, including sound waves, often exhibit continuous spectra, and their behavior is well-described by classical wave equations.
  4. Scale and Observability: Quantum effects become significant on very small scales, approaching the scale of atoms and subatomic particles. Sound waves, on the other hand, are macroscopic phenomena that occur on a much larger scale. Heisenberg's matrix mechanics is designed to describe phenomena at the quantum scale and may not provide meaningful predictions for macroscopic systems.
In summary, Heisenberg's matrix mechanics is not directly applicable to sound waves because it is a framework specifically designed for understanding the behavior of particles at the quantum level. Classical wave equations and mechanics are more appropriate for describing macroscopic phenomena, including sound waves. Quantum mechanics and classical mechanics are distinct frameworks that are applicable to different scales and types of physical systems.

Naturally, denotation in language is based on connotation in minds and this in turn is based on ontological universals in nature (in natural kinds), which (ontological universals) are vaguely reflected in connotative universals. Hence, denotation is primarily a linguistic function; and connotation is the reflective function of consciousnesses. Ontological universals are the generalities that properly and only belong to existing processes in their many members within groups. Languages are not merely what we directly call so. Metnal notions, feelings, and thoughts on the one hand (all of them in causal matter-energy mixture with brain-body elements), and language representing all sorts of expressed notions and thoughts on the other, are the two type of information engendered by BI. That is, BI information is a group of concatenations of denotatives, based on the concatenations of the respective connotatives. A similar chraracterization of AI information should appear as a result of further discussion, after developing some more background for the same.

Answer
For optimization, you need at least three levels for each independent variable (i.e., your parameters) because it allows you to fit a quadratic model, which is often sufficient for optimization purposes. So, you can choose Central Composite Design (CCD), Box-Behnken Design (BBD), or a 3^3 factorial design.
CCD requires more runs and is usually chosen to optimize processes with 2 independent variables. However, having 5 points (2 factorial, 2 axial, and 1 center) for each level makes this design safer. Rotability is another feature of CCD.
BBD requires the least number of runs in comparison to CCD and full factorial design. From my experience, it is also the most often used design in papers. However, while it lacks design points in the corners of the design space, there are areas of poor prediction capability.
The 3^3 full factorial design emerges as the safest option. It requires more runs, but the prediction capability is also very good. Moreover, if you are not sure if your parameters are truly significant, you can initially conduct a 2^3 factorial design to determine the effect of the parameter and then add a "0 level" run to determine the curvature and optimize.
There are more designs like D-optimal, but since it is your first time, I would suggest the 3^3 factorial design. It is more tedious, but you will be less annoyed by unclear interpretation.
We have chosen a design, so you have a direction to follow. However, I will not explain it in detail here, so I recommend "Design and Analysis of Experiments" by Douglas C. Montgomery.

Even though I am passionate about PV energy it is well-known that EVs substantially benefitted from the PV generation in neighbourhoods and also in detached houses. Now I see how big car manufacturer seems to have put all the eggs in the same basket, EV mobility. They are turning to electric fleets their fleets, which will definitively overcharge/stress the utility grids by 2050.
On the other hand, only a punch of them bet for H2. Everybody knows this is not only an abundant resource but also costly to produce and tough to store. In the end, an interesting resource to bear in mind. Lately, I wonder if there is still time for mobility based on H2. I mean, private cars not large fleets of trucks or busses, I am referring to family mobility.
I would appreciate your thoughts and reflections on this theme.
Best regards

We assume that the most important similarity is that both describe how the energy density function U(x,t) moves in 4D x-t space.
On the other hand, the most important difference is that in the heat diffusion equation the energy density function can be constrained inside a box of Dirichlet boundary conditions, whereas in the Schrödinger equation, it cannot (the wave function 𝛙 extends by definition to infinity).
Of course, you can add many similarities and differences, but how?

Hello!
i'm a 1st year doctoral student, working on "deep learning applications in engine control and diagnostics", so far i've had to create a number of models. However, I'm having trouble training these models to assess their accuracy, due to a lack of data. The data in question are, on the one hand, cylinder pressure, cylinder temperature, compression ratio....etc, which can characterize the state of health of a part or an associated engine component. On the other hand, data from certain parts whose state of health can be determined by vibrations.
how can i enter these types of data? Can anyone help me?

The Anglo-Saxon system uses the terrestrial mile as a unit of measurement for distance. My fundamental physics theory based on theoretical constants proves that this choice is ideal because this said metric system is directly related to the speed of light in a vacuum where 1mile = c x t. Once one provided the theoretical value of the time it takes for light to travel a distance of one mile on one side and the theoretical value of the speed of light on the other, their product gives the exact value of the mile . Our theory states that 1.609344 is precise but it is not the exact value! To the right of these decimal digits there are still an infinity of other decimal digits which means that in the end the value of the mile must be a numerical ratio which begins with 1.609344.........

Dear colleagues,
for my current research project I am trying to trace the effects of a CJEU verdict in 2011 via migratory activity of scientists. So far I have used Scopus, but the database gives me the information in a format that is impossible to work with. I could do this by hand, but I would rather avoid sorting several thousand entries by hand, so I was hoping that there was a database that would enable me to retrieve the required information in a standardized format. I recently began to work with viviparous Neotropical skinks of the genus Mabuya. Specifically with females at different stages of gestation. My tutor and lab colleagues have studied them for a long time and a recurring comment is related to the difficulty of field sampling.
The standard method of catch is by hand, but these lizards are very quick moving through the litter, and their smooth-scales covered skin makes them difficult to hold. Also, in the most advanced stages of pregnancy, these lizards stops feeding so funnel traps will likely be less effective.
I have little experience in catching, and I am planning some field trips to obtain some specimens (especially to learn about the field work). I would like to try different catch methods, hoping to make it easier to obtain research material.
I will be very grateful for any suggestions or advice you can provide.

I conducted some experiments using strain gauges mounted in a wheelchair hand rim to determine differences in push force over a short course. Changes in tire type and tire pressure are related to differences in strain measurements over the course. The differences are statistically significant but are expressed as mV/V which are the raw strain gauge outputs. I have mass, distance, and time over the course.
Relevant answer
Answer
It could be done if you "calibrate" strain gauge measurement using known force applied on the hand rim, and then you could measure real applied force during the movement.
Also, you should have measurement of the rotational velocity, or RPM of the wheel.

Dear ResearchGate members,
On one hand, there is a theory giving the reflection/transmission coefficients when acoustic planes waves propagating in a medium (rho0, c0) reach a finite thickness object (rho1, c1) with normal incidence. Such theory basically gives the thicknesses (n*lambda1/2) at which the object is theoretically acoustically transparent - of course, the width of the reduced reflection depends on the impedance mismatch between the 2 media – and the thicknesses ([2n-1]*lambda1/4) at which the object is fully reflective.
On the other hand, there is also theory giving the variation of the reflection coefficient depending on the incident angle of acoustic plane waves at the interface between two semi-infinite media (rho0, c0; rho1, c1). Over a critical angle (depending on the impedance mismatch between the two media), the reflection is theoretically total.
Now, here is my question: What is the behavior of the acoustic waves when the two phenomena are considered at the same time? If the plane waves reach a surface with an incident angle, and the reflective medium is finite in thickness (acoustic mirror)?
By experience and through simulations, it appears that over the critical angle, the reflection is not total, even with a mirror thickness for which the reflection is theoretically total.
Thanks a lot in advance.

I propose a discussion on "Analogies between Plotinus and Indian Philosophy" - PDF-PowerPoint of the lecture held by me on 13th September 2023 at the 2nd International Conference "The Greek World and India: History, Culture and Trade from the Hellenistic period to Modern Times (4th c. BCE – 18th c. CE)", jointly organised by the Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice and by the Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi, Venice, 12-13 September 2023.

Dear Doctor
I pasted the following paragraphs from a worthy study hoping shed light on the subject.

Advaita and Neoplatonism
(1961)–Frits Staal–📷 Auteursrechtelijk beschermd
A Critical Study in Comparative Philosophy
"According to Porphyry, Plotinus once ‘sought to learn directly the philosophy practised among the Persians and that which is held in esteem among the people of India’.1 The theory that some aspect of Neoplatonism was infruenced by ‘Indian thought’, has repeatedly been discussed and has found many learned advocates and opponents. As it seems that research on the subject has been done while scholars were unaware of the fact that the same subject was dealt with by others, we propose to contribute to a possible solution of the problem by giving a critical review of the existing literature in chronological order. In this way one can easily see what are the main arguments which can be brought forward, and which of these have been refuted. Of the work done before Bréhier's book of 1938 mention is made only of the article by Müller of 1914; after 1938, we hope that our enumeration is complete as far as articles which deal principally with the subject are concerned. Casual references in monographs touching upon the subject have not been discussed.
Critical remarks are based upon the methodological considerations mentioned in the first part2 and the method which has been formulated by Koster in dealing with the problem of Oriental influence on Plato; we need only read Plotinus where he says Plato: ‘There is only one method which leads to an adequate understanding of the doctrine of Plato. This is the method requiring the commentator when interpreting a passage first to ask whether this passage can be explained by what Plato teaches elsewhere or by what he taught previously; next whether the same can be done with the help of what is left of nis Greek predecessors; and lastly whether the interpreter has not forgotten to take the creative imagination and the personal logic of his author into account; this last consideration is not the least important. In short,
1Vita Plotini 3, 15-17.
2See above I, 6: 22-4.
[p. 236]
he has to deal with Plato as with Homer: explain him by himself. The person who studies Plato has to be led by one rule: first of all tòn Plátōna ed toû Plátōnos saphēnízein.3"
"We will mention three points dealt with in this book which are of special interest in the present context.
(1) The Neoplatonic idea of deriving the entire universe from the One is a natural development of the systems of Plato's pupils Speusippus and Xenocrates as well as (according to Aristotle), of Plato himself. ‘The most striking feature of this derivative system was the derivation of physicals, i.e. sensibles, from the anterior, non-sensible, unextended, timeless spheres’. An example is the way in which physical properties and even the atoms themselves were derived from mathematical entities.26
25Mind 64 (1955), 273-274.
26See 173, n. 1.
[p. 249]
(2) One of the two main principles of Speusippus, as known from a newly discovered fragment, is above being and thus ‘strictly comparable to the One of Plotinus and other Neoplatonists’. ‘The particular originality of Speusippus seems to consist in his having described the second principle as above nonbeing’.27
(3) The meaning of the notion of ‘being as such’, ‘being qua being’ (ón ḕi ón) in Aristotle's Metaphysics has to be reinterpreted. In this interpretation, the subject matter of Aristotle's Metaphysics becomes indeterminate being, ‘which, because it is indeterminate, is unrestricted and therefore first and fully being’. It is therefore justified to speak about an Aristoteles Neoplatonicus, This indeterminate being leads again to the Neoplatonic One.28
Our general conclusion is that it will be the task of future research on the question of Indian influence on Neoplatonism to find aspects of Neoplatonism which cannot be understood against the background of the Greek tradition. In the light of recent research, however, where the six centuries between Plato and Plotinus are no longer neglected, it seems unlikely that such aspects can be found. If they will be nevertheless found and if they are derivable from ideas occurring in the Upaniṣads, it will, in the light of the research of Filliozat, be very likely that the Upaniṣads influenced Plotinus. Apart from this it remains very well possible that Plotinus knew something of Upaniṣadic doctrines and was aware of their similarity to his own ideas.
Another question, with which we have not occupied ourselves, is, whether Plotinus' Greek predecessors, and thus he himself indirectly, were influenced by any aspects of Indian thought. In the case of Plato this is at any rate very unlikely.29 But in the case of the Pre-Socratics it is possible, though we can at present not say anything more definite about it.30"

The interpretation of the results of EIS is divided into two parts. on one hand, some researchers insist that larger semicircle is better because it leads to larger recombination resistance (Rrec). On the other hand, similar to your interpretation, some researchers insist that the smaller semicircle is better, resulting in small charge transfer resistance. Which is correct between the two views? How can we justify our analysis?
Relevant answer
Answer
The relative size of the semi circles in the Nyquist plot are only subjective. What is important is the model used to fit the data and phsycial interpretation of the fitting parameters.
The fact that you have two semi circles in the first quadrant of the Nyquist plot indicates only dielectric responses. I suggest you fit your data to a parallel combination of series RCn elements (parallel Debye Responses). If the fit is successful, then the next step is to physically interpret the parameters.
The R parameter is indicative of the response being observed and is an indication of the ionic resistance to a physical feature of the film. The C parameter is inversely proportional to the dielectric thickness. To calculate this you need the effective area and a relative dielectric constant. Initially, assume that the area is the ascribed area of the occulted cell. The relative dielectric constant can be set so that the thickness is in the expected range. Assuming the area and relative dielectric constant are the same for all measurements, the relative thickness of the dielectric can be compared. Finally, the power law term, n, is indicative of the population distribution of many nano or micro features that contribute to the overall response. This is a direct result of EIS being a 'marco' technique the is extremely sensitive to 'nano' or 'micro' contributions.
The EIS technique is unique in this regard; sorta like analyzing numerous high magnification TEM images to get an overall picture of the film. However, EIS does that in one single scan an ambient conditions.
The real challenge of the technique is then to correlate the physical parameters to in-service behavior. Which features best reflect the desired behavior of your film. Armed with this knowledge you are able to quantifiable the physical features the dictate the behavior of your system.
In conclusion, subjectively comparing size of semi circles is not adequate, you must identify a fit model and interpret the fit parameters, and verify that physical attributes determined from the electrical parameters are indicative of you system. Finally, the values of the physical parameters need to be verified by some sort of independent measurement. Anything less than this breeds confusion and distrust in the EIS technique.
Back to your original question, both subjective observations of the size of the semicircles can be correct, however a physical understanding of your system can help to explain why there can be two correct answers.

To start with, I want to believe for a modification of an algorithm like evolutionary algorithm to be considered novel, it has to offer some benefit (like automation) and should not perform worse than the manually designed algorithm.
Base on the above, If I want to implement an evolutionary algorithm to design another evolutionary algorithm, I wouldn't know before hand whether the proposed method will perform as good or even better than the manual method or some other similar method.
I can only tell how the method performs after the completion of the implementation.
Is there a way to know before hand that a proposal will not bring some benefit, before putting energy and time into developing it?
Please, what do you advise in this situation from your experience?

Usually the code can be optimised: same algorithm but less computing time, less memory (well, sometimes _far_ less). Now, for the quality of the results if you find a _sure_ way to improve it ((for a given search effort, of course, like a number of evaluations) publish it quickly!
Note that a different initialisation method might improve the algorithm on some problems, but not always. See for example
Omran, Mahamed G. H., Salah al-Sharhan, Ayed Salman, and Maurice Clerc. ‘Studying the Effect of Using Low-Discrepancy Sequences to Initialize Population-Based Optimization Algorithms’. Computational Optimization and Applications, 2013, 1–24.
Sometimes the problem can be reformulated. Using different formulae to take constraints into account or rewriting a discrete problem as binary.

Hi everyone,
I've been doing a EFA with ML extraction and Promax rotation, whereby three factors were extracted. For reporting the results, I was wondering whether to use the 'Initial Eigenvalues' or the 'Extracted Sums of Squared Loadings' (see file attached). On the one hand, initial Eigenvalues are the ones used for parallel analysis, but on the other hand - as least as far as I'm aware of - the cumulative % of variance explained that is reported is the one below 'Extracted Sums of Squared Loadings'.
Could someone please elaborate what those two mean and which one to choose? I'd highly appreciate your help.

"Abstract.
A modified discrete singular convolution method is proposed. The method is based on the single (SE) and double (DE) exponential transformation to speed up the convergence of the existing methods. Numerical computations are performed on a wide variety of singular boundary value and singular perturbed problems in one and two dimensions. The obtained results from discrete singular convolution methods based on single and double exponential transformations are compared with each other, and with the existing methods too. Numerical results confirm that these methods are considerably efficient and accurate in solving singular and regular problems. Moreover, the method can be applied to a wide class of nonlinear partial differential equations."

After a concept was specified, then the operational definition is determined to describe how concept is measured. Meanwhile, the indicators are the sign or the indication of the concept presence. On the other hand, in a scale, there is also a term "item". What is the difference among the three terms?
Relevant answer
Answer
In survey-response scale research, the operational definition specifies how a concept is measured, while indicators are signs or indications of the presence of the concept. Items, on the other hand, are the individual questions or statements that make up the scale. While the operational definition and indicators provide a theoretical framework for measuring the concept, the items are the specific measures used to obtain data from respondents. In essence, the operational definition and indicators provide a conceptual framework for the research, while the items provide the specific questions or statements used to collect data.

One of the articles I read by a Finnish psychologist, explains why people in Finland remain one of the happiest in the world. Many times, people from many countries compete for prestige, national pride, and satisfaction. But all of these things come at a cost, it uses an overwhelming portion of our mental strength and our personal life activities. The writer, in her article, explains that in order to remain happy you should aspire to what you like to do. It is often best to keep life simple, give simple greetings, hand a cup of water to a guest, helping a traveler with directions. The society in Finland is structured in a way that everyone trusts everyone. People are happy with sharing and not stressing about time. Finland has great healthcare and public facilities. People are happy with paying taxes as they think of it as doing good for the nation.

Dear Dr. Wahid Khan
Could it be today the "Happiness Economy" that would lead a Country to the podium of being the happiest? Or it could not be a Country but a Region of a certain Country with initiatives of “Economy of Happiness? We are facing a new Global scenario, it is no longer the time of our parents or our past time. Today we are much more "active" in many things that did not even cross our minds before, we know that it is not convenient to pursue development and economic growth if production and consumption increase at the cost of reducing the well-being and happiness of being human beings and we know that crises and conflicts worsen any goal, we also know that pleasure or the wealth of the world should not be confused with true happiness and that additional income does not contribute to giving us more happiness. Today the happiness indices of many countries are compared by also examining the Happiness Economy and the current situation of the Happiness Economy as well as its prospects for the future are always on the table as well as the measures that can be adopted to improve happiness indices in the Society. The common denominators are well-being and good living and for this the ideal would be to have high income, relatively low levels of "economic inequality" and high levels of trust and respect because the different dimensions of well-being or happiness need safer means and environments in the personal and economic within human performance and one of those components is also physical and mental health "mens sana in corpore sano". It is also true that any interpersonal relationship in the political, economic and social spheres based on the logic of competition can trigger "human anxiety" and "human distrust" for this reason it is desired that all interpersonal relationships be "more horizontal", mutually respect and recognition because this is how happiness and well-being are promoted, but it is convenient to start by applying all this to people we consider "nearby" because they are supposed to give us more security in life.

I am currently teaching project management to professionals in a large technical firm. I am a rather entertaining teacher (if I may say so myself), and I think I have been able to explain the complexities of the analysis of deterministic and probabilistic project networks to calculate project duration and the critical path as well as how to use the normal distribution to determine various confidence intervals for the project duration.
Although the students appear to enjoy my lectures, they frequently ask for practical suggestions on how to use the topics in their daily work. To be honest, I'm not sure how to react to their inquiries. On the one hand, I have a number of college books on project management, but none of them appear to provide the practical guidance they require. On the other hand, I've looked at several more practical books that offer advise and ideas on how to effectively manage projects and I confess I found them quite rudimentary.
I would appreciate advice as to how to proceed and any tips on literature sources that might have escaped my attention (or even approaches and methods). What I am doing wrong?

The statement inquires about the potential mathematical relationship between entropy and standard deviation. Entropy and standard deviation are both concepts used in statistics and information theory.
Entropy is a measure of uncertainty or randomness in a probability distribution. It quantifies the average amount of information required to describe an event or a set of outcomes. It is commonly used in the field of information theory to assess the efficiency of data compression algorithms or to analyze the randomness of data.
On the other hand, standard deviation is a statistical measure that quantifies the dispersion or variability of a set of data points. It provides information about the average distance of data points from the mean or central value. It is widely used in data analysis to understand the spread of data and to compare the variability among different datasets.
While entropy and standard deviation are both statistical measures, they capture different aspects of data. Entropy focuses on the uncertainty or information content, while standard deviation focuses on the dispersion or variability. As such, there is no direct mathematical relationship between entropy and standard deviation.
However, depending on the specific context and the nature of the data, there might be some indirect connections or relationships between entropy and standard deviation. For instance, in certain probability distributions, higher entropy might be associated with higher variability or larger standard deviation, but this relationship is not universally applicable.
In summary, while entropy and standard deviation are both important statistical measures, they serve different purposes and do not have a direct mathematical relationship. The relationship between them, if any, would depend on the specific characteristics of the data being analyzed.

Inheritance represents the transmission of genetic features and their manifestation from one generation to the next. It's vital to remember that inherited features are handed on directly from parents to offspring, whereas heritable traits are not always genetic.
Relevant answer
Answer
  1. Inheritance: Inheritance refers to the passing of genetic information from parents to their offspring. It involves the transmission of genetic traits, such as physical characteristics or predispositions to certain diseases, from one generation to the next. Inheritance occurs through the transfer of genes, which are segments of DNA, from parent cells to offspring cells during reproduction.
  2. Heritability: Heritability is a statistical measure used in genetics and quantitative genetics to estimate the proportion of phenotypic variation (observable traits or characteristics) within a population that is due to genetic variation. It describes the extent to which differences in phenotypes can be attributed to genetic differences among individuals rather than environmental factors. Heritability is expressed as a value between 0 and 1, where 0 indicates that the variation is entirely due to environmental factors, and 1 indicates that the variation is entirely due to genetic factors.
Heritability does not directly measure the extent of genetic inheritance, but rather quantifies the contribution of genetic variation to phenotypic variation within a particular population. It provides an estimate of the relative importance of genetic and environmental factors in shaping the observed traits or characteristics.
To summarize, inheritance refers to the transmission of genetic information from parents to offspring, while heritability is a statistical measure that estimates the proportion of phenotypic variation within a population that is due to genetic variation.

I am a Masters's student writing my thesis on a compliance issue in the automotive industry, mainly dealing with software development. I have linked this issue to resistance to change management as one of the reasons, apart from my other hypotheses gathered during my internship, while having casual communication with frontline employees and supervisors.
To verify or refute these hypotheses, I conducted in-person interviews utilizing a questionnaire consisting of both open-ended and closed-ended questions. The data collected encompassed qualitative responses from the open-ended questions, as well as quantitative data obtained through the use of closed-ended questions and scales. During these secondary interviews, a new hypothesis is found.
When selecting a sample for a process, Quota Sampling (using the highest number of tickets) is commonly utilized. Additionally, to choose individuals to interview who have been assigned tickets in individual processes, Purposive or Judgmental Sampling is employed, considering their availability and location.
Currently, I am in the last phase of conducting a thematic analysis of this data using an employee-driven improvement approach. As a precaution for data privacy, the organization I work for prohibits using transcription or recording tools. Therefore, I solely relied on notes taken during the interview.
I'd like to confirm whether my approach falls under Grounded Theory and how it can be classified – deductive, inductive, or a combination of both.
I wonder if it's appropriate to refer to my research approach in an empirical study as mixed methods.
Lastly, I would greatly appreciate your input on the research purpose – whether it falls under the categories of Exploratory, Descriptive, or Explanatory. Personally, I am attempting to achieve all three objectives. I am curious to hear your thoughts on this matter.
I'd be so grateful for any help you can provide. Thanks!
Relevant answer
Answer
This is certainly not grounded theory because you have not alternated data collection and data analysis in the systematic fashion required by that method. To be mixed methods research you would need to integrate the results from qualitative and quantitative methods, but it sounds like your N would be too small to produce meaningful quantitative results.
That leaves exploratory research, would be a good match to a thematic analysis.

We assume that there is a complex story deeply hidden behind double and triple integration.
This is the reason why the current definition of double and triple integration is incomplete.
Brief,
Time is part of an inseparable block of space-time and therefore,
geometric space is the other part of the inseparable block of space-time.
In other words, you can perform integration using the x-t space-time unit with wide applicability and excellent speed and accuracy.
On the other hand, the classical mathematical methods of integration using the FDM technique in the geometric Cartesian space alone x can still be applied but only in special cases and it is to be expected that their results are only a limit of success.
Relevant answer
Answer
Double and triple integration are mathematical tools used to calculate the area and volume of regions in two and three-dimensional space, respectively. These integrals are extensions of single integration, which is used to calculate the area under a curve.
The calculation of double and triple integrals involves dividing the region of interest into smaller pieces and summing up the contributions from each piece. This process can become very complex, especially for irregularly shaped regions.
However, the use of integration in spacetime is a concept from physics, where time is treated as a fourth dimension in addition to the three spatial dimensions. In this case, integration in spacetime is used to calculate quantities such as the trajectory of a particle or the spacetime interval between two events.
In the curved spacetime of general relativity, integration is over the Riemannian spacetime. The volume element in this curved spacetime is 4-dimensional and, in principle, the general solution requires a quadruple integral (special cases integrate along a contour which is out of the topic). The 4D volume element in the curved Riemannian spacetime necessarily includes the Jacobian determinant which transforms the flat 4D Galilean spacetime coordinates used in special relativity to the curved Riemannian spacetime coordinates. For the above transformation of coordinates, it is proven that the Jacobian is equal to sqrt(-g) where g is the determinant of the spacetime metric. Thus, all integrations include the 4D volume element dOmega multiplied by sqrt(-g) which corrects for curvature by the respective changes in the measurement units (for length and time).
For more details, you can read the last section of my preprint named "Metric density and metric determinant and why they are important".

Hi everyone,
I am a Ph.D. student and I am working on the production scheduling of an open-pit mine by genetic algorithm, and I have a problem with converting infeasible sequencing to a feasible one, so I need someone to help me. how can I create a normalized plan based on a completely random solution? on the other hand, how can I change the time periods that I assigned to genes of the chromosomes or all blocks of the ultimate pit? I don't know any normalization methods for obtaining a feasible sequencing, and I studied some papers related to it, but the normalization methods the authors used, have not been stated in detail!
I would appreciate your guidance and help, in advance!

While checking whether the elementary particle reaction is possible, we multiply parity of each particle on left hand side and right hand side and check whether they are equal or not whereas we add energy on left hand side and right hand side and check whether they are equal or not. What determines whether we have to add or multiply ?
Relevant answer
Answer
In elementary particle reactions, the parity of each particle and the energy conservation must be considered. Parity is a quantum mechanical property that describes how a particle behaves under spatial inversion, which is a reflection of the coordinates of the particle about a chosen origin.
When checking whether a reaction is possible or not based on parity, we multiply the parity of each particle on the left-hand side by the parity of each particle on the right-hand side of the reaction. This is because parity is a multiplicative quantum number, meaning that the total parity of the system is obtained by multiplying the parities of the individual particles.
On the other hand, energy conservation is a conservation law that requires the total energy of the system before the reaction to be equal to the total energy of the system after the reaction. In this case, we add the energy on the left-hand side of the reaction to the energy on the right-hand side of the reaction and check whether they are equal or not.
Therefore, the decision to add or multiply depends on the property being considered. Parity is a multiplicative property and energy conservation is an additive property.

In his essay here (https://theloop.ecpr.eu/untangling-description-deception-and-denunciation-a-linguistic-twist-to-the-science-of-democracy/), Rikki J. Dean states that: "[w]ords do not only describe, they also deceive and denounce".
This creates a puzzle for us. On the one hand, there are excellent reasons to trust that anyone can establish for themselves which words have some democraticity or democratness about them. They will be able to spot the fakes. On the other hand, there are arguably equally excellent reasons to say that this is not the case - that experts need to weigh in and provide advice on words and their meanings so that everyone can at least understand why x is considered "democratic" but not "y" and make up their minds from there.
What do we do in a situation where there seem to be two truths? Pursue them both at the same time? How would you solve this puzzle?
Relevant answer
Answer
Interesting. But do we really have two truths?Democracy has historically been characterized by incongruities. Theoretical and empirical finesse have never been associated with democracy. In its aboriginal Athenian standards for instance, slaves and women and some others, were dehumanized by the denial of franchise and other formats of political participation. What obtained was accordingly difficult to stand the test of time as democracy. There is this fluidity in democracy that makes irregularity its abiding truth.

  • The pole is the oldest, most important, simplest and most wonderful achievement of Chinese civilization. The Great Wall and the canal are all picked out by the shoulder pole. What about the rammed earth foundation site of the Xia and Shang in Erlitou? Only the Chinese use the pole, and the Korean culture is very close to the middle Earth, but in the old days, they all use the big basin on their heads. India and Africa are much the same.Take a comparison of two pictures (the illustration of this article is used to demonstrate the function) : the African can only use the top ten bricks, two hands to support; The Chinese migrant worker carried forty bricks on a pole and walk across the diving board. The old "razor picker" consisted of the whole barbershop apparatus, including a fire, and the picker used his free hands to rattle to attract customers.
