Respected professors and Educators, Kindly guide me for the following query.
Research study method is experimental and researcher have collected pre test and post test data. She calculated mean, SD and t-test. Is it necessary to calculate correction of coefficient? Please guide. The study is about finding out effectiveness of geogebra software on achievement in Mathematics subject.
Relevant answer
Answer
The correction of the coefficient, also known as regression to the mean, is not always necessary in experimental studies, especially when a pre-test and post-test design is used. However, it is important to consider if there are any confounding variables that may affect the results.
In your case, the purpose of the study is to find out the effectiveness of the geogebra software on achievement in mathematics. The use of pre-test and post-test data and calculation of mean, standard deviation, and t-test is a common approach in experimental studies to determine the significance of the results.
If there are any variables that could potentially affect the results of the study, such as student prior knowledge or motivation, it may be useful to consider including correction for the coefficient in your analysis. However, without more information about the specific study design and the confounding variables, it is not possible to give a definite answer.
It is always advisable to consult with a statistician or an experienced researcher to determine the appropriate statistical analysis for your study.

GeoGebra application : I recently found, when engaging in visualization process, if we express the hypotenuse r of a right triangle, as the area of a rectangle, with conventional sides , length l and breadth b, then one of the legs x is given as the rectangular area, whose length is determined by (l - 2) and breadth (b) and the other leg y is given as the rectangular area, whose length is squareroot of (l - 1) and breadth (2b).

Dear Mr. Koshy!
You raised a critical issue. We need apply concepts in context so we gain deeper understanding, still I argue that nobody ever would have an absolute understanding on Pythagorean Theorem:

Today, I piloted a series of exercises about ‘Quadratic Functions’ where tenth graders used the the software GeoGebra on their mobile devices ( iPads, iPhones, Huawei phones ) ,to discover the behavior of graphical representations of quadratic functions.
The next series of exercises will be piloted next Friday.
Does any scholar, researcher or mathematician have suggestions in this respect?
Your suggestions and help will be of value.

Greetings
Upon a previous suggestion from Mr. Christian Mercat ( a mathematics researcher at the university of Lyon), I am in the process of integrating GeoGebra on students' mobile devices during a 10th grade class session about "straight lines in an ortho-normal system" , or later within the lesson about "quadratic functions".
In the two projects, students, before hand, will be watching videos about the two topics from Khan Academy website.
Are there any particular resources, activities or regulations that any scholar can suggest for carrying out this project?
Thank you, in advance, for your help

Geogebra software has been used in teaching mathematics. But, people could be so enthusiastic or so negative. What do you thing about this software and its impact in teaching and learning mathematics? Do you know about real scientific results about its use?
Relevant answer
Answer
GeoGebra software is an example of "dynamic geometry" software that has been available since the mid 1990s. As such, it has been widely researched. An example of a systematic review and meta-analysis that analyses the impact found by studies published up to 2014 is:
Chan, K. K., & Leung, S. W. (2014). Dynamic geometry software improves mathematical achievement: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Journal of Educational Computing Research, 51(3), 311-325.
As I concluded in my own review some years ago, "Overall, existing research indicates that DGS cannot provide a self-contained environment and that the software itself does not necessarily mean that students will learn geometry theory. Research also suggests that it can take quite a long time for the benefits of using DGS to emerge but that this investment is worthwhile in developing students’ knowledge of geometry. The sorts of tasks that students tackle, the form of teacher input and the general classroom atmosphere are all important factors in determining the efficacy of student learning.", see:

I'm very interested in this subject. But I prefer to think about the differences between to learn with and to learn without geogebra instead to think about "to improve" learning. So is very important to me understand knowledge production to think about differences in learning.
