Questions related to Field Studies
Hi ,
I’m using a GLMM for my sleep study because it handles missing data and different observation lengths well. My data is unbalanced since this was a field study, not a controlled lab setting. Shift situations varied within and between subjects, and we had a longer pre-phase (~3 weeks) compared to post (~1 week).
We measured 9 shift situations across two groups (control/intervention) in a pre-post design:
- Pre-Control: 437, Pre-Intervention: 425
- Post-Control: 191, Post-Intervention: 210
All situations per time/group stratification were recorded at least 15 times, except for one case with only 5 records.
A chi-squared test showed a significant imbalance (X²(24) = 70.02, p < .001). I calculated the Cluster Size Coefficient of Variation (C.V.) = 0.42, based on this referencehttps://api.istex.fr/ark:/67375/WNG-DQ4BGH16-P/fulltext.pdf?auth=ip,fede&sid=google,istex-view .
Does the GLMM (lmer(sleep_variable ~ time * group + shift_situation + (1 | subject)) already account for this imbalance, or do I need to use weighted sleep data to improve data quality?
The war/genocide/ecocide on Gaza that started on October 7th, 2023 by the Israeli occupation army supported by most advanced weapons of mass destructions, and including carpet bombing and the use of white phosphorus among others, and the burning and destruction of natural flora and vegetations in Gaza including the olive trees, and the destruction of water systems, all and the pollution of air, water and soil, with no doubt have detrimental environmental impacts. It is also extremely difficult to run any field study under continuous bombardment, shelling and direct targeting of Palestinian citizens, journalist, and even UN and humanitarian aid officials. However, we know that researchers managed to do that amidst previous wars. I was wondering if anyone is aware of any existing studies of that nature, especially in relevance to the ecosystems, the biodiversity and the fauna and flora of Gaza. Setting fire on fields, olive trees, agricultural areas, and Palestinian villages by Israeli settlers have been intensified since October the 7th 2023 as well. West Bank could be relatively less challenging for field studies. If anyone is aware of any field study, would appreciate sharing them/links/ references. Thank You.

A field study on the role of knowledge management in creating an intellectual climate for industrial organizations. What are the dimensions, concepts, model requirements, standards
I would like to test a technology using the Technology Acceptance Model using the extended model by De Cicco et al., 2022. However, additionally to the proposed variables I would also like to test for "Output Quality", which is used in numerous other researches using TAM (e.g. Venkatesh, 2000).
Now, it's not really clear to me what the procedure is for extending the TAM to use it for actually evaluating a technology. Does an extended model with a new set of variables need to be validated first? And what would this process look like? Or is it sufficient that each variable has been tested before, allowing them to be combined in an extended TAM?

I plan to do research in this field, studying factors that explain the performance of insurance firms during the recent pandemic.
My question is: How to determine the concentration of dissolved iron to be added in a field study. Should that concentration be similar to the in situ background iron concentration or should it be much higher than the in situ background iron concentration? And what is the basis for the determination?
If he has data on a field study conducted by a government institution, and I have obtained permission to access, analyze and publish this data, then what type of study it is?, knowing that the data pertains to a survey of nearly 10,000 school students to detect infection with the Coronavirus
During my field study, I collected Groundwater samples and filtered them sequentially using 0.2um, 50kDa, and 3kDa. But when I analyzed these samples in the Shimadzu TOC analyzer, I got DOC concentration is high in 50 and 3 kDa in comparison to 0.2um.
E.g., in from sample
0.2um = 7ppm
50kDa = 16ppm
3kDa = 44ppm
How is it possible? Can anyone please explain?
Hi,
In previous field studies we observed great crested newt larvae displaying black and yellow belly pattern in the last stages before leaving water. Does anyone have an idea for how long metamorph individuals with belly pattern stay in water before terrestrial dispersal? How stable is this pattern for individualization?
Many thanks in advance!

I conducted field study regarding green consumption.
I manipulated 3 types of eco friendly messages and each type of messages was exposed to the restaurant visitors for each week.
So I got the total number of visitors and the total amount of waste for each week.
However, I don't know who visisted the restaurant and how much waste each visitor threw away.
I only got the average amount of waste per visitor.
I want to compare two types of messages were persuasive comparing to control condition.
Without observed data set, can I statistically compare the average values?
Thanks for your help!
Coal char and biochar are used as a soil amendment in our field study for sugar beet plants in an irrigated field. Before harvesting, we want to make some plant measurements to see the differences in control and treated plots of plant growth.
I would like to conduct a field study focusing on the role of spiritual leaders in overcoming the psychological challenges faced by their community members. So, could anyone recommend any survey model for this?
Didactic methods based on computer games are included in the new education 4.0. Therefore, education systems should be improved in such a way as to make the most of the techniques known for the current technological progress known as Industry 4.0.
On the other hand, as part of the technological revolution of Industry 4.0, other technologies are also being developed that should be effectively implemented into modern education tools so that education systems can be improved and adapted to new technologies that are currently being dynamically developed and implemented in industry. In addition, these new technologies Industry 4.0 should also enrich the work of scientists in research laboratories of universities and schools. Scientific research conducted in the field of new technologies, innovations, etc. should also be correlated with Industry 4.0.
Apparently, we are now living in the era of the fourth technological revolution, known as Industry 4.0.
The previous three technological revolutions:
1. The industrial revolution of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, determined mainly by the industrial application of the invention of a steam engine.
2. Electricity era of the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century.
3. The IT revolution of the second half of the twentieth century determined by computerization, the widespread use of the Internet and the beginning of the development of robotization.
The current fourth technological revelation, known as Industry 4.0, is motivated by the development of the following factors:
- artificial intelligence,
- cloud computing,
- machine learning,
- Big Data database technologies,
- Internet of Things.
On the basis of the development of these IT instruments and technologies, business analytics of companies such as Business Intelligence and the above-mentioned areas have been dynamically developing in recent years.
The technological revolution described as Industry 4.0 is progressing more and more dynamically. The reforms in the school system should follow this progress, so that modern education 4.0 would be fully adapted and correlated with the progress of Industry 4.0.
The technological revolution Industry 4.0 is carried out so quickly that education systems and fields of study, teaching methods are adapted to these changes often with a significant delay.
On the other hand, research conducted in research centers at universities should support the creation of new innovations in technological solutions for the needs of industry 4.0.
Therefore, the education system should be improved in such a way as to create as much synergy and correlation as possible between the current technological revolution of Industry 4.0 and the reformed systems of new education 4.0.
One of these areas of new teaching techniques are the above-mentioned computer games. In many training centers, for example in the field of training pilots, drivers, cosmonauts, aircraft controllers, etc., simulators that technologically use modern computer games are used. Computer games should therefore be used in the process of improving didactic techniques in education systems 4.0.
Therefore, I am asking you with the following query: Can computer games be used in the process of improving teaching techniques in 4.0 education systems?
Please, answer, comments. I invite you to the discussion.

I have met a lot of scholars who contends that colonialism was a blessing to African. What is you candid opinion on this as a researcher from other fields of study.
What students in schools and students at universities should learn, what skills should they improve and acquire beyond the knowledge itself?
In education, it is not only about transferring knowledge, but also about the ability to use this knowledge, to acquire, search, process and use it to implement projects. In some fields of study, apart from the knowledge itself, it is important to develop students 'and students' skills, inter alia, regarding the activation of teamwork, critical thinking, participation in debates and discussions, entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity, specific computer programs related to the field of study, etc.
Do you agree with me on the above matter?
In the context of the above issues, the following question is valid:
What students in schools and students at universities should learn, what skills should they improve and acquire beyond the knowledge itself?
Please reply
I invite you to the discussion
Thank you very much
Best wishes.

I am asking this because OLCI Sentinel-3 data has ground resolution of 300m.Any help?
Dear all,
I would like to write a methodological paper. Notably, I would like to explain how a particular methodology can be used to study problems related to a specific field of studies (i.e. governance). Could any of you advise on how a methodological paper should be structured, what are the key elements that must be addressed? Should there be a section on the philosophical underpinning? I would appreciate any good advise on this.
Thanks a lot
Bianca
Hi,
We found what seems to be downy mildew on a native crop. Since this is not exactly my field of study, how do you go about isolating, purifying and identifying a biotrophic pathogen? We would like to confirm Koch's postulates to link the organism with the disease so we have to reintroduce a pure culture to a healthy host. What would be this simplest way to achieve this?
Many thanks,
Pieter Louw
In studies in which one of the variables recorded is the minimum neighbor distance of a number of focal animals, how do people handle cases where a neighbor cannot be identified? Excluding them from the analysis does not seem a reasonable strategy because you would then missing useful information.
Since I am working on saltmarsh restoration project in Bangladesh I want to conduct collaborative research with you to enrich my knowledge in the respect field of study.
Which pH sensor manufacturers / models you prefer in your field studies. Any handheld unit that has lasted a lot of use, responses to maintenance and calibration i.e. your GO-TO sensor.

I want to simulate 3 studies
a) magnetic filed (stationary)
b)laminar flow (stationary)
c) Particle tracing due to fluid flow (time dependent)
I divided it into two studies
Study 1- Step 1 Magnetic filed
Step 2-Laminar flow
Study 2- Step 1 - Particle tracing
My question is how can I pass results of my magnetic field study in study 1 step1 to laminar flow study(step2)? Like what to put in 'Values of dependent variables column'?
After this how to give the solution of this study for time dependent (study 2)?

I know people doing research related to destructive and non destructive techniques.is there a way one can hypothetically analyse the disaster analysis of a construction? Do engineers in mine fields study these?
Today, hybrid manufacturing/remanufacturing has become a hot spot area for doing research. In this regard, tire industries, specifically the OTRs and earth moving trucks are rarely dealt with. A Caterpillar 797 tire incurs a price near $45000, so rereading the tires for a few times is beneficial for both the manufacturers and customers.
What is your professional and research experience in this field of study especially about production and inventory control?
I have started a survey cum field study on the use of plants by local people of a particular locality. I have also documented the Phytodiversity of that location. Please suggest some statistical parameters that can be incorporated inthe study.
Recently, I have just started learning basic mineralogy and I found that it is quite difficult to master. It would help me a lot if you can share some tips on this field of study so that I can easily identify and describe accurately the minerals that is being observed using plane polarised light and cross polarised light.
I found in my field study to search for groundwater by electric exploration that when the topsoil is saturated with salts, the results of the search for groundwater are inaccurate and sometimes the device does not give the results at all.
Hi, I am looking for a mentor as author supervisor on specific pathology topics/projects for my dream path portal!
Background: There is a US-based pathology portal, which I have been using since I saw histo in my very first semester in med school. I bought books there, participated in quizzes and heavily used knowledge based content portal. Consequently, I feel very sentimentally and strongly about this resource and the project below.
What is now: During CAP19 in Orlando, I asked if I could write some small part of the content for them. Surprisingly, they said yes, however, I need to come up with the supervisor in any field, so I can start. The main author is required to be at attending level in the United States, but does not have to be licensed or practicing in the USA.
What's next: I am looking for preceptor with minimal time investment on their part and can provide more details. I think, it's hard for me to wait until I become an attending myself, because this portal groomed me as a person, who I am today. As much as I have long ways to go, this was the source, that solidified my interest in pathology and once they said: "yes ... [I} can be writing now, not later... but under supervision", I have been having hard times to wait for one of my own preceptors to free up on time or for me to reach the level of attending.
What will you get: good Karma coming your way, satisfaction that you inspired an upcoming doctor and your name as author on each publication with minimum time investment on your part
What will I get: to do all the writing, proof reading, editing and preparation for submission. I require very little sleep and have a very thick skin; a perfect combination for any preceptor.
Please PM me or respond below,
- if you have a particular website/source in mind, where I can look for the senior authors contacts
- if you require more information or you are interested in guiding an up and coming physician.
thank you, ASE

My field of study: Computer Science
Topic of Interest: Cyber Security, machine learning and virtualization. But I am fine with other are too
Thank you in advance
they could be real life applications or applications to other fields of study.
the study is going to apply a parabolic trough collector to heat the boiler feed water for an existing steam power plant.
The symmetry to field specialization is cross disciplinary/ diversifying views on a given problem or an issue so as to facilitate fair discussion to come up with solutions/foci.
Thus, does specialization lead to monopolization of a certain field of study ?
Hi, I would like to know how important it is to have specific field of study stated in my transcript? My background is in cancer research so I thought that Biotechnology or Applied Biology is not too broad but not too specific. The university fixed it to Biology. How will this affect my chances when applying for job? I understand that my CV will speak for itself but I am still worried that it may affect a bit if any.
I'm currently working on a journal paper to try monitoring social media apps and their frequency of use. I'm using Android studio as an IDE.
I wonder who could join me with my study?
Dear all,
This forum has been created to provide a scientific environment in Researchgate for all of those who are interested in doing research on the context of RPL in Internet of Things (IoT) networks. Through this forum, the members could discuss about their previous RPL related studies and introduce them to others, and also to share their latest discoveries, papers, and probable ideas and more importantly to provide their experience to the newly students who want to spend time on studying the existing challenges in RPL. The students who have decided to work on this topic can join this forum and ask their questions and also to get others' opinion on their current work. There exist different types of challenges for publishing a paper from getting the raw idea, and its implementation via off-the-shelf simulation tools, to submitting the final manuscript. Here in this forum, the members will try to solve these challenges as much as possible and also try to answer the questions and help each other to enhance the observability of the existing studies. Further more, members can inform others about the up coming conferences, events, and journal special issues to further provide a comfort zone for those who are attracted to this field of study.
I hope this forum will make the research on this field more interesting and easily.
I am analyzing data from a field study. The main goal of this experiment is to understand what intervention can help increase students verbal reasoning.
There are 4 kinds of interventions (say Factor A,B,C,D)in total, the combination of which result in 6 experiment groups.
group1: no treatment; group2: A; group3: A +B; group4 A+B+C, group5: A+B+D, group6: A+B+C+D.
We randomly chose some schools and assigned them into 6 different groups. Students' verbal reasoning skills were tested before and after the intervention for each school.
I suggested simply compare group1 v.s. group2 to determine effect of A, group2 v.s group3 to determine effect of B; and use a 2*2 ANOVA on group 3~6 to determine main and interaction effect of C and D.
My co-author suggested that we should check out analysis for nested model. I am confused as whether or not this is a nested design and how should i change my analysis if so?
Any suggestion is highly appreciated!!

Psychometrics is a field of study concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement. As defined by the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME), psychometrics refers to psychological measurement. Generally, it refers to the field in psychology and education that is devoted to testing, measurement, assessment, and related activities.[1]

We can no longer pick just "the most important thing"; RATHER making any field of human activity, in which you ARE personally much involved, empirically better will help not only that field but tend to help the modus operandi in several/many other fields. Any major change will be inspirational -- and some of this will be useful and in appropriate ways more generally useful. (This may seem self-serving (on my part), but I really believe "you do what you can, where you can" is part of an individual being her/his best and THAT MATTERS more generally. Otherwise you just have some small positive effect on the "most important" matters. Obviously, you do what you can there; but, given your actual expertise, this effect will be limited. )
Dear All, kindly spare some few minutes of your time to share your technical expertise with me to clarify a research methodological challenge (see below)
Preamble:
You intend to conduct a qualitative field study (data collection) among a homogenous group (say expectant mothers). You have observed that these women are not adhering to 2 different health interventions - A & B and you want to know their reasons/challenges behind this fallout trend.
You discover 3 groups of defaulters:
1. those not taking intervention #A only
2. those not taking intervention #B only
3. and the intersection as well (those not taking #both A&B)
Now, you have chosen to constitute focus groups to discuss the issue. WHat is the #best way to constitute the group?
Is it better to constitute the groups respectively using only category A and then B so that the responses can be combined ?
Or
It would be best to constitute one focus group, consisting members of the intersection category ?
Assume that this qualitative aspect is a follow-up to quantitative study on same subjects.
Usually EIAs involve detailed descriptions of the impacts of a project. Whereas LCIA studies focus on a specific product or process. Is there any field of study integrating both of these approaches for Impact Assessment in any way?
I plan to make an article on the topic of complaints, safety and health. but I don't know what title or issue I have to raise, because I am a beginner in this field of study. Please give me a suggestion. i'll really appreciate your help. Thanks before.

I am writing a PhD thesis on caring ethics based on the thoughts of Nel Noddings. Since it is a philosophy theses, field study is not a requirement to be fulfilled. But as i am trying to look for its application in character education in Indonesian context, i would like to make some research on how educational climate in some schools have echoed caring characters of education.
I would be very thankful to those who are willing to share with me some tools, methods or questionnaires regarding the topics.
Thinking of ways how education system in my country could be improved.

My field of study is Psycho-analysis and Anthropology and I am carrying a bibliographical search. Suggestions are welcome! Thanks!
Hi, I'm Chaipheth, a Laotian and currently studying a master programm in Tropical and International Forestry at the University of Goettingen/Germany. I'm really interested in your project because I am planing to write my master's thesis on forest policy in Laos, but have not chosen the topic yet. Perhaps, your research will provide me some thoughts to work on later.
When are you planning to conduct the field visit? or have you started yet?
For your information, I have also worked with GIZ almost 5 years in two projects, namely ProFLEGT and CliPAD. Please let me know if you need any support.
Best regards,
Chaipheth
I am interested in finding out about field studies involving energy savings in households using Smart Home technologies such as smart thermostats, smart plugs, window/door contacts, and so forth. Does anyone know of such case studies?
Dear Researchers,
Please share the details you look out for when analyzing data/ or raw results from experiments (both qualitative and quantitative). How do you make your discussion sections look not just like a lab report but an actual discussion of data (graphs).
Which software work well and easy to use in your field of study?
In so many fields of study i.e. Engineeering, IT, Medicine, Marketing or Communications, ect, they define qualification generally as an official requirement for the individual to be recognised to perform or execute duties such as management down to labour for example.
On the other hand, companies require skills e.g in mining engineering, someone with grade 1 who has operated a machine for ten years is valued the most than someone who recently certified as an operator for the same machine.
Naively perhaps, but it is quite common to assume that engineers, scientists and academics are too much involved in their own field of studies and that they are often not involved nor interested in matters of national and global politics and humanitarian issues.
As an art enthusiast, I find it somewhat discouraging that scholarly articles in such fields as philosophy, literature, film and history of art, despite the prestige and the significance usually associated with them, are scarcely received by the general public. I believe, as scholars in any field, scientific or artistic, we should find more effective platforms, other than periodic academic journals, to give vent to our insights. I wish to know if anyone has had the same feeling or concern in his/her field of study and, if so, what strategies one can use to overcome the barriers to presenting scholarly work as tuned to the general taste.
Thank you everyone.
In parallel to the expansion of the global humanitarian system, there has been a general rise of humanitarianism as field of study. Anthropology is arguably the most established discipline with a focus on humanitarianism, though the discipline has predominantly concerned itself with how people - recipients, practitioners, decision makers and donors - interact with the discourses, narratives, structures, institutions and rules of humanitarianism. A major challenge is the discipline's strong focus on participant observation, which needs to be multi-sited to enable the study of a global phenomenon. The use of ethnographic methodologies creates challenges as well as possibilities, but what are they and how do they impact on the findings of the research?
Can anyone introduce to me a good conference for Traders and business. Specificly for academic purpose. Especially in my field of study.
Suppose, I am going to study the Thakali culture of Nepal, taking ethnography as methodology, then what should I do? Be concentrate on Thakalis culture of Thakkhola only or can be expanded field where Thakali people migrated, live, and shifted occupation e.g. roadside motels throughout the country?
I have been studying on Anatolian ground squirrel for about 20 years. For a while, I have also been interested in the ENM aprroach. Across its geographic distribution, I have been collecting tissue samples every about 20-40 km, and, in the meantime, occurrence records. So, I need a standard method to quantify number of populations (of occupied patches) to associate that measure with suitability obtained by ENM approach. It is difficult for me to quantify population density in a patch because I do field studies across the range. But, I have an observation that frequency of observation (encountering with an individual) tends to be high in areas of high suitability while travelling and collecting tissue samples across a region. That is, the methodology should be compatible with that I am travelling and collecting tissue samples and occurrence records across 100-200 km every day. Note that frequency of observation is also associated with time of day and season!
Should M.A. in Linguistics be 'devalued' as not considered as of 'importance' or as 'not relevant' to a teacher/ an instructor who has already graduated in M.A. in Linguistics & been in the field of teaching English as L2 in an age where M.A. in TESL is a newly trending field of study in the Sri Lankan educational context (compared to M.A. in Linguistics).

At the initial phase of a quantitative research, most of the researchers use qualitative field study to examine factors and variables and to affirm their relationships that are defined in the preliminary research model.
To gain a better understanding of the proposed relationship in a model, can we just start from quantitative study skipping the qualitative phase before?
I am from Czechia (in past Czechoslovakia). I do research to check if the problems in choosing a field of study (measurred by CDDQ) are related to MBTI typology dimensions.
I know this method is standartized in Slovakia for adolescents (15-19 years old).
Can anybody please help me to find similar theme sources, researches,...?

What are the conditions to fulfil to attract research grants? How can a researcher, most especially upcoming researchers consistently access and utilise research grants.
What should be the focus of researchers in application or presentation of proposal for researcher grant! Can travel grants be classified as research grant?
How does research grant access or award affect the productivity, relevance and visibility of researchers?
How can individual researchers boost the research grant attraction in the research work?
Does collaboration help in grant access than individual application for grant?
Is there research grant for institution laboratory development and equipment supply?
Is internal and external auditing necessary for research grants (resources?)

- Do the high school students perceptive economics too mathematical and difficult which result in non-enrollment in this degree?
- Is this choice related to students' GPA?
- Do the related field of study such as finance, accounting, business make students' choice toward economics more difficult?
I need a way to objectively compare corvid nestling and fledgling gape coloration in the field as a potential measure of health. Are there examples of fields studies where flesh-tone color cards are matched or where a standard color card is used to calibrate lighting and color balance in a photograph? Or any other ways of objectively measuring color of a bird in hand in the field?
The vision for future Humanoid Smart Nano Robotics Devices capable of interacting with humans in ubiquitous and pervasive manner is most challenging and somewhat exciting at the same time.

Although it is not my field of study, i am interested atleast to know what is happening in gravitational biology. I have come across some research focusing on plants growing in hyper gravity, similarly are there some research on animal cells in altered gravitational field?
Pre-service teachers usually had to know something about the History of Education - both in their countries and globally - as a part of their induction into teaching up to about the 1980s.
From around this time a competences and standards regime became increasingly prominent and units/courses/even one-off lectures related to the History of Education disappeared within initial teacher education - certainly in the jurisdictions that I have worked in (England and Australia).
I will be interested to hear if History of Education continues in some countries globally.
Reactions to the death of 'History of Education' are likely to vary on a continuum between: 'good riddance - this was fairly useless knowledge which didn't help people to become better teachers' and 'a shame that teachers understand so little about the evolution of education over the past two hundred years'.
Personal stance: I have come to co-exist reasonably productively as a teacher educator with Standards regimes in both England and Australia - they can provide useful focus upon essential features and competences required of teachers......but I also feel that Standards can be instrumental and can underplay knowledge and (especially) values that underpin practice.
I have also undertaken some History of Education research on citizenship education and early Twentieth century inspection regimes, so should declare an interest that I see the 'History of Education' of having some value and importance as a field of study (but I remember being bored rigid in lectures on the topic during my own experience of initial teacher education) !
In social sciences, knowledge and research is shared among different disciplines and fields of studies. For example, geography shares knowledge and research with many other fields such as geology, sociology, social work, economics, international relation, public health, public administration and development studies.
Here comes a point, where researchers debate over the scope and delimitation of a Geographical (having spatial context) and "Non-geographical (Having no spatial context) research.
Moreover, what can be the features/types of spatial context?
I need to understand this issue. Your help will be highly obliged. Thanks
Quiet often some very successful researchers in their own field of studies and disciplines may have developed very focused and productive research, as well as excellent research teams. However, they may not always have experienced creating successful and productive multidisciplinary research projects and large multidisciplinary research teams. How to bring together researchers who are already very successful in their own discipline, but may not have exposure to multidisciplinary research experience, at minimum cost?
my field of study and interest is philosophy of education, I want to know what questions in my field are focal all around the world.
thank you all who help me
Any field of study that provides an approach to the topic is of interest to us, many thanks in advance!
Hi all,
I am currently writting a professionnal thesis on the relevance of involving SMEs towards the adoption of a Green IT policy.
For these thesis I have to do a field study. Part of this study consists question people who work on a computer most of their time.
The subject concerns SMEs but if you work for a large group your answers interest me too (it will allow me to compare the results between SMEs and large groups)
The survey is fast (between 5 and maximum 10min if you take your time)
Thank you very much to those who will answer !
Cronbach’s alpha is the most widely used objective measure of reliability of scales. Therefore, is it a good measure to tell us about the reliability of a questionnaire regardless of the discipline/ field of study?
I am working on a journal article which has been finished now working on English editing and I do feel that a contribution from a native speaker in this field of study will boost the paper quality and can be published in Q1 journal, if anyone willing to collaborate please let me know I will take it to my supervisor, thank you.
Rabindranath Tagore, the 1913 Nobel prize winner in literature from Greater India, presents unique perspectives towards creating universal platforms of philosophical understanding and analysis applicable to various fields of studies. He was blessed to blend and connect spiritual perspectives with events of general interest that have an in-depth influence of life's core events derived from practical exposure to tragedy, creation, devotion and as such.
These do have a special room in the theories and practices related to 'Education'. Working effectively but subtlety. Needs explorations indeed.
While the contemporary societies understand more of 'solely tangible' aspects, Tagore's influence relates to the notions of 'Offerings' attached to the tangible aspects making the holistic approach magically beneficial for all involved. That's why probably his 'Song Offerings' won him the Nobel in literature.
His perspectives are reflected in scholarly endeavors, but how wide is that now? How well has it been recognised? Any reference? Examples? Interest?
Thanks.
Testing parameters to consider when developing study protocols for evaluation of population density suppression of mosquitoes by field release of modified mosquitoes.
I am new to Geographical Information System and Remote Sensing, and Environmental Engineering is my field of study
I am looking for a company that sells litter bags for field studies of decomposition rates by microbial and invertebrate communities.
What is a good kind of ink for footprints of mustelids? It is good option - ink for stamps?
Dear all,
we are going to use the PAM-2500 to measure chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in grapevine. The measurements will be conducted outside, therefore we want to keep it simple, but of course efficient in data aquisition. Therefore dark adaptation is no option for us, bu the instrument has many different functions to circumvent this problem.
I have the following questions:
1. the field screen with the Y(II) measurment provides no light acclimation step with standard actinic light, just a light puls. do you think a standardized acclimations to actinic light is necessary?
2. Fo´is measured under field sceen after the light sat puls and a short period of FR. Is this similar to the FR+Y option?
3. do you use default light intensities? we are working with grapevine
many thanks
Michaela
Can anybody suggest book for how to collect descriptive data from field study?
These will be used in cold, boreal conditions. Thanks!
I have just started field study on it with Trichogramma application. I want to know could the wasps achieve good control effect on controling tiny eggs like small budworms of apple and pear?
Is there any mini probes or devices which I can deploy to track real time changes of salinity in seawater?
I have deployed probes to record changes of temperature and light penetration in the seawater before. However, I can't find any probes which can be deployed and record seawater salinity in real time.
Is there any such devices in the market?
Thanks for the attention.
Cheers,

I'm shopping for field photosynthesis measuring systems. The LiCOR 6400 and PP Systems CIRAS-3 both have the option of estimating apparent electron transport rate (ETR) and PSII yield based on fluorometry: basically looking at Chlorophyll fluorescence. The WALZ PAM 2500 is exclusively a fluorometer. In contrast, the LiCOR 6400 and PP SYSTEMS CIRAS-3 are mainly estimating photosynthetic rate based on differences in CO2 and H2O vapor.
Have people tried both fluorometry and gas exchange approaches to estimating photosynthesis? What are the relative advantages of both approaches? Do you really need both systems to get an estimate of photosynthetic rates? What are the relative errors?
Hi everyone! I aim to present playback calls to wild monkeys from a foraging task, so I would like to use small speakers to attach them with the task. I have been looking for small speakers, but I'm not sure if the quality is gonna be good enough.
Does anybody know any model of small speakers that I can use or has already been tested? Any paper where they use small speakers for playback experiments with animals?
Thank you.
I am planning a field study that will use exclosures made of fine mesh to keep macroinvertebrates out of patches of plants. I am concerned that the exclosure, which will be in place for several months) will alter the temperature and precipitation etc. in a way that will affect the plants within. I'm thinking I need to do one of two things: make sure the exclosure material is water permeable and breatheable but still restricts access by insects (I am wondering if aluminium window screen would suffice), or else have some kind of "treatment effect" control (i.e., a similar mesh but with bigger holes that will not restrict insect access). I don't have time to run pre-season trials to test the effects of the cages on the space in the enclosure, and I'm unable to find examples in the literature. Any advice or personal experience regarding materials or design options? Thanks in advance.
I would like to use “Pollocks Robust Design” for a CMR study of endangered arboreal snails and would like some feedback on my approach.
Collection surveys will be 2 sets of day-night-day data collection with 3 weeks in between events. Or would “better” data be collected with more visits? The snails are sedentary during the day- easier to spot at night using lights while they are moving. So, we know we find more snails at night. Is it ok to mix up the time of day that the data collection occurs?
Survey Area is about ½ acre of enclosed habitat but the snails are concentrated in hotspots within this area. Should I survey those hotspots to get the maximum number of individuals or should I choose random quadrats within the ½ acre with the chance that the quad will have no snails. If quadrats then how many? I am planning to do a timed collection (one man hour for each area) but should I search to exhaustion in each section instead? One of my goals is to determine the approximate number of snails in this enclosed area but much of the habitat is too tall to be searched
I am planning to use Program MARK for the data analysis- any guidance regarding doing Robust Design analysis is welcome. I have worked my way through MARK before for closed capture CMR.
Thank you for any feedback.
I am currently working on evaluating the effects of climate change on marine plankton using a mesocosm facility. I have some queries
The capacity of my tank is 2000 L - Indoor facility
1. Do I need a wave maker for recirculation in the tank or is it enough if I use a high capacity blower (e.g. 80 HP).
2. What kind of instruments should I used for CO2 diffuser?
3. I am planning to run one set of experiment for 20 days, the total capacity of seawater will be 2000 L, Do I need a separate recirculating system?
4. I will be drawing around 10 L for various analysis on alternate days for a period of 20 days.. how much will this effect the total volume ? I don't think refilling is a good idea, kindly suggest me some alternative.
5. What are the general problems that we could face while using a mesocosm facility?
Thank you
Regards
Vinitha
I ask this because I see a variety of different outcomes in experimental studies with high tag burdens having no negative effects on swimming ability and growth to high burdens having detrimental effects. At the same time I'm seeing recently published field studies with tag burdens breaching 10%. I think we are at the point where we can agree that the old 2% rule of thumb is untenable on wild fish (certainly using 69 kHz set ups) but I think the disparity in the literature from the last decade needs resolving.
Edit: Clarified the wording slightly
