I am writing a research paper titled "AI Enhancing Translation On Social Media Marketing?
Relevant answer
Answer
AI-powered translations on social media are opening new doors to international communication and cross-cultural marketing. Among them, the most advanced use of AI is the text-to-meaning translation but interpreting idioms, nuanced culture-specific references, and sense-specific words in real-time translation. This elevates interaction from simple linguistic conversion into a form of cultural brokerage where AI acts as a middleman that brings better understanding between different user groups.
Further, AI algorithms can more and more do sentiment analysis across languages to help marketers understand how emotionally people respond to content at the global level. Brands would, hence, be in a better position to formulate messaging, not only linguistic but emotional, creating more profound communication campaigns with international audiences. Such an application of AI translation and their emotional intelligent capability is more of a game-changer to social media marketing because the engagement now is more subtle towards the target users. The second innovative benefit comes in the role AI translation plays in conserving and promoting lesser-known languages. Inclusion of those languages within mainstream social media will be able to make it so that such platforms are capable of giving voice to the underrepresented communities. That contributes to the enrichment of the cultural tapestry of social media content but creates new markets for marketers willing to really engage with respective communities.
Further, AI-translated words can also provide the development of new styles of digital expression. More importantly, AI learns by mixing and matching different things from one language with different things from another language altogether. A new form of hybrid dialect or slang is likely to emerge, making it possible to cross more traditional boundaries of linguistic language. Thus, marketers on the look-out for that can present themselves as initiators of new cultural modes. From a data analytics perspective, the huge volume of multilingual data that is processed through AI translation tools can really give deep insights into consumer behavior across geographical locations. Patterns and preferences hidden in datasets when being looked at with single language may be unveiled. Thus, this will help them in everything-from developing products to coming up with targeted advertising strategies.
There is an ethical perspective also. Democratizing information, AI-based translation means people speaking a different language are now at an equal level of accessing information for participating in an online discussion. Inclusiveness increases brand reputation and loyalty since people now care for the type of companies which value diversity and accessibility. In essence, AI-translated means not just a tool to overcome language barriers but changing the social media landscape in manners that make it richer and more meaningful across the globe. For social media marketing, this means moving beyond traditional strategies toward embracing a more holistic, culturally aware approach that will leverage the real potential of AI with respect to the connection of audiences in innovative ways. The Egyptian Revolution of 2011 was a massive transformative event in the country’s history. Corruption, economic issues, and a lack of political freedoms were the causes. Millions of Egyptians took to the streets to demand the resignation of then-President Hosni Mubarak. The revolution resulted in many sacrifices, with many lives lost and injuries sustained, and the president finally stepped down. Pressure would make any government back down, however, many of us cannot contribute to conflicts and collateral damage. Take this route: international pressure.

I came across a Facebook page soliciting for co-Authors and I joined the group. To my surprise, there were many researchers inviting scientists with funding to cover APCs to be co-Authors of manuscripts that had been accepted but requiring minor revisions. Most of these researchers with good papers seem to be from Low Income Countries with little or no funding for page or AP charges. In your view, do you think it's still a good idea to use the H and I indices as a yardstick for good performance in this day and age?
Relevant answer

No, they are irrelevant and untrustworthy. Both of these silly ideas arise out of the moronic publish or be damned culture that poisoned academia and fuelled research fraud.
What is needed, and we are seeing the first signs of is a proper policing of research publications. More fraud needs exposing, especially in the biomedical sciences.

I am working on misinformation on Facebook and find it difficult to collect relevant comments from Facebook manually. I used exportcomments.com, which was adequate, but there were too many irrelevant comments. I would appreciate advice on finding a more effective way to collect Facebook comments. Thank you.
Relevant answer
Answer
Collecting relevant comments from Facebook can indeed be a challenging task, especially when dealing with a large volume of data. Here are some strategies that might help you:
  1. Use the Right Tool: Choosing the right tool can help in managing Facebook comments effectively by unifying all the Facebook conversations in one place1. This will enable businesses to deliver a consistent experience1. For example, a 3rd party platform like Gleam’s Competitions app can be used for collecting and drawing random winners from Facebook comments2.
  2. Filtering and Sorting: Many tools allow you to filter and sort comments based on various criteria such as date, likes, or relevance. This can help you focus on the most relevant comments.
  3. Keyword Search: Some tools allow you to search comments for specific keywords. This can be useful if you’re looking for comments related to a specific topic.
  4. Manual Review: While time-consuming, manual review can sometimes be the most effective way to ensure the relevance of the comments you’re collecting. You could consider using a combination of automated tools and manual review to achieve the best results.
  5. Improve Your Content Quality: To get more relevant comments, you can improve your content quality, response rate, and positive sentiment3. For example, you can craft posts that surprise your readers or make them cry, laugh, or get angry4.
Remember, the effectiveness of these strategies can vary depending on the specifics of your project and the nature of the comments you’re trying to collect. It might take some trial and error to find the approach that works best for you.

Can anyone who has published a paper using online reviews from any of these companies please let me know if you needed to gain their permission and how you did so? Thank you

In Brazil, Facebook groups were very effective, but in the United States, I am encountering some challenges.
Do you have any recommendations for this?

There are some recommendations for conducting surveys with gamers who reside in the United States like utilize social media platforms that are popular among gamers in the United States, such as Reddit, Discord, Twitch, and Twitter, to promote and distribute the survey, consider partnering with established gaming communities or organizations to help promote the survey, make the survey mobile-friendly and easily accessible across different devices, keep the survey questions brief and focused on specific topics to avoid respondent fatigue and use a reliable survey platform to create and distribute the survey, such as Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or Google Forms. Online surveys are valid in the United States and are commonly used as a data collection method for research studies and market research.

Chat GPT, powered by GPT-3 model from OpenAI, has reached 1 million users only in 5 days. Facebook, Netflix, Instagram, and Twitter could reach this number in 300, 1200, 75, and 720 days. Chat GPT can engage in multiple ongoing conversations, understand and respond to natural language input, and offer customized and interactive assistance. This makes Chat GPT a promising tool for students and and naturally universities.
What is your opinion? What Chat GPT Mean for Students and Universities?
Relevant answer
Answer
Thanks for this highly relevant question about the relevance of Chatgpt (https.//chat.openai.com ) and similar new AI tools. I have been thinking about it a lot since it was published in its present form a couple of weeks ago. Some unsorted ideas:
  • The googling days are over - Now students do not really need to google to find some relevant page - they can just ask an AI and refine the answer in a conversation with it.
  • Students can more easily adapt their learning to their present level of understanding - and without being shy about a machine (if the AI is not owned by the university and performs learning analytics in parallel. But also that can be helpful).
  • Important study skills will be to develop and systematise curiosity for a subject - and to learn how to prompt the AI for getting the most out of it.
  • Pedagogy will likely tip over from the present dominance of constructivism (to form an own good personal understanding of X) to constructionism (to learn how to tinker with X, to construct and apply, take apart and put together again).
  • We will have an increased emphasis on soft skills, the skills that AIs cannot perform. We will also have to concentrate more on the use of content knowledge for developing skills, relevant to working life.
  • Home exams have become impossible, and the answers and solutions are too easy to fabricate by just asking an AI for the answers, and paraphrasing a little.
  • Programming, maths and formal-logic tasks are very easy to get help with from an AI so tasks must be constructed in another way than today, taking help from AI for performing more complex tasks.
  • Education designers and teachers have to rethink a lot about what they should be doing - they cannot continue the "study content - repeat on the test" pattern. Students will not use course literature but produce summaries of every piece of content. But the possibilities multiply!
  • Self-directed learning will become a lot easier for the skilled and motivated person, but digital literacy is needed, and we will probably see fast development of new systems of accreditation of knowledge, besides having attended university courses.
  • We should be thinking through the program and course offerings at universities because many categories of white-collar jobs disappear and others will arrive. We should concentrate more on the "what" and "what for" of education, it may be more important than the "How".
  • To deliver information is today not difficult, but the process will be reversed: information-pull instead of information-push. The information-processing capacity of ICTs (as AI applications) will become more important for teaching and learning.
In short; with AIs of this and future improved AI versions and information interfaces, information friction has become very low. This is what "digitalisation" has been all about so far in education (to deliver content more easily), when most other fields of activity in society uses also information processing (outside biological brains)- which has hardly begun in education yet. But now it does. We have not seen much digitalisation of education yet. But now it really begins. So we will have a lot of new "blends" between older and newer practices in education.

Dear honorable researchers,
Plagiarism is a common problem facing almost all professors. This respected portal (i.e. RG) defines plagiarism as:
The term “plagiarism” has different meanings, but it usually includes copying somebody else’s work without permission.
On the other side, self-plagiarism is when the author republishes portions of his/her own previously written research work while authoring a new work.
I may be somewhat old-fashioned, but please have a look at the following golden principles on how to avoid plagiarism in academic writing, especially Self-Plagiarism:
  1. Never use the "Copy-Paste" trend: Use your own words instead of copying and pasting the text verbatim from others (i.e. reference papers). Needless to say that if you are using your own words, then there is no chance of plagiarism accusing. Try to paraphrase your content as much as you could.
  2. Never repeat yourself: There are many re-published articles that are slightly or even considerably modified, and still not changed!
  3. If you have co-authors, just trust your words!
  4. If you use your own words, there should be no plagiarism issue. In turn, there is no need for the tools of plagiarism checking. Since there is no guarantee that the original content of your manuscript might not be copied and sold to others before it is published by you, I discourage using any free-software checkers for plagiarism; some of them are betrayers. Despite that offline ones are rare and if you are insisting to use anti-plagiarism software, offline checker programs are safer than online ones. On the other side and in case you are again insisting to use anti-plagiarism check, the process should be carried out for the entire research work, literature reviews, for instance, are not an exception.
  5. In some cases, you can paraphrase the sentences (إعادة صياغة الجملة) in the original document. But don't forget to cite the reference.
  6. You must always insist on honesty. Furthermore, you have to always remember that there should be a new added value.
  7. You must always insist on doing real research, not "Wikipedia" research.
  8. Do not put any of your research work anywhere until it is published and tagged with your name. Please wait until the paper is accepted and then published in that journal. Then, upload that research item on any platform you wish.
  9. In my opinion, most of the free-software-checkers for plagiarism don't work effectively. Unfortunately, you have to pay for the sake of getting good results.
  10. Despite that offline ones are rare and if you are insisting to use anti-plagiarism software, offline checker programs are safer than online ones.
  11. Try to develop your own style for the text writing.
  12. You should be should beware of storing your document in any portal that is used as free software checker for any language.
  13. Try to read as much scientific literature as possible, especially in your own research field area.
  14. Don't forget to cite your Sources: Identify what is needed and what is not needed to be cited. If you refer to any material, including images and data, you should be clear and define the source. Because images are treated as data in the case of citation, you should refer to any taken image and cite it in the references even it is a social media image. By the way, please do not forget that "A picture is worth a thousand words"!
  15. A reminder for all respected researchers: In order to maintain research integrity, plagiarism (الاستلال) has to be given up. However, many people do not know whether they are committing plagiarism intentionally or unintentionally.
Now, I think that the above-mentioned rules are helping in setting boundaries to avoid plagiarism in general, and self-plagiarism in special.
Finally, believe me, or not: If you make one plagiarizing, you may solve one problem and fall into many others where some of which may be described as a knockout. Again and again, please always remember that if there were accusations of plagiarism, it is not well for any researcher's reputation, in any meaning.

I am planning to start an experimental study where I use social media posts as tweets and Facebook posts to ask Turkers if they believe the information posted in there or not. I will be manipulating some parts of the posts (i.e. the text, the URL, the image etc).
I plan to study the impact of these different elements of posts on the perceived credibility of health information (I establish factual truth of messages separately based on scientific evidence). Since asking people what elements of a tweet make a message more or less credible for them might not result in reliable answers (people might not know/ not be aware/ be biased by priming).
I have couple of questions regarding this study:
1- Ethical concerns: can I manipulate the tweets/facebook post before showing it to Turkers? Do I need a consent form from the users who posted these messages since I will be using their original text.
2- do I need to show the whole post as it is, I mean, I have seen studies were they just show the text without the frame or logo etc.
I would very much appreciate it if I can get references that explain how to do this the proper way. this is my first time doing an experimental study. I plan to do a pre and a post survey with the experiment. so any feedback/guideline would be very helpful.

This is a disturbing question. If you added the parenthesis (with permission) it might be marginally less so.
Although fb /Meta does use analytic data (and algorithms) to drive their ad delivery, they are reducing the availabilty of that data. Even anonymous demographics about page visitors.
I, for one, would never take part in a study that made giving the researchers the authority to monitor my conversations and reactions on Facebook or similar. And would not answer surveys that would 'validate' my responses in such a way.
In my experience the best way to test responses in surveys is to recast questions so that they appear to be different, but when the responses are compared inconsistencies (fibs?) are revealed. That is, I will ask apparently different questions within the mix of questions in the survey, but some of the key questions are effectively and unobviously asked multiple times.
Research assistants are good yardsticks for this. If they don't see the similarities in the questions, but see them clearly in the responses, you've hit the target.

The popularity and applications of the metaverse are expected to skyrocket in the near future, thanks to the entry of major players (Facebook, Microsoft, EA, and even McDonalds) in the industry. As ab opinion piece in The Drum puts it "many experts predict that the metaverse will change the way we live and work in the future, and it would be extremely negligent not to recognize the trend and continue to engage with it". Could someone suggest some preliminary studies that could be carried out using consumer data collected through online surveys? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I have a question regarding an investigation of Reuter et al. (2019)
Where I have managed to extract the questions (5 scale likert) that I detail below
Attitude
- Fake news poses a threat
- Fake news can manipulate the population's opinion
- It's the task of the operators of Facebook, Twitter and Co. to prevent fake news
- Fake news can manipulate the opinion of politicians, journalists and other influential players
- Fake news harms the democracy
- It's the state's task to prevent fake news
- Social bots pose a threat
- The state censorship poses a threat
- Fake news is just a pretext to be able to fight system critical actors
- Fake news is at most annoying, but does not pose a threat
Interaction
- I have perceived fake news
- I have deleted/reported fake news
- I have dislikes fake news
- I have commented on fake news
- I have liked/disliked fake news
- I have shared fake news
- I have created fake news
Since this research has not named its questionnaire and it does not yet have dimensions. Can I take it as a reference in my research?
Of course, the issue later will be validation and reliability. Can you please guide me if there is already a defined questionnaire for these variables (attitude, interaction)?
Relevant answer
Answer
It sounds like they have published their items, so you can use them in your research. But be sure to reverse some of the items in the first scale. As for the second scale, it seems to be a real mix of content, from disliking fake news to creating it.
What do you mean by a "dimension less" Likert scale?

The steps to archive and download your own FB posts are readily available online and in FB help pages. Once downloaded you may need to wrangle the data into a format you need, but that is another query. Caution: although you may be able to legitimately scrape public profile data and some posts for other users, there is no legitimate method to download an archive of another person's Facebook data and little chance of you being able to legitimately use such data in your research.
Here is one of many online guides for your own data:

Experimental designs are quite interesting and useful tools to apply in certain circumstances. However, they usually have several limitations associated with them.
In general, they are very useful when you are comparing two extreme cases. However, they do not provide such rich information when you are comparing various more similar cases or when you are establishing intervals between which there are no such clear differences.
In the vast majority of cases, experimental designs typically compare two levels. On rare occasions, three levels are included. However, including four levels is really strange.
The reason is that it is going to be very difficult for you to find significant differences between the four groups.
My suggestion would be to set only two distinctly different levels each time and to develop different experimental designs.

Dear Rahman,
In recent years, research has been conducted on the sentiment of Internet users on various topics undertaken on Internet forms, in discussions on various Internet portals, issues entered in comments, posts, entries, and social media banners with the use of analytics carried out on Big Data Analytics platforms. The content of entries, comments, posts, etc. entered on specific, selected social media portals in a specific time range is examined. Most often, the first stage of this type of research is to collect thousands of entries, posts, etc. entered at a specific time and placed, for example, on a Tweeter with the use of specific keywords. Then, thousands of records of entries collected in this way are properly cleaned of unnecessary characters and processed in accordance with a specific algorithm for the preparation of research materials. Then, on the basis of the research material prepared in this way, a statistical analysis is carried out to diagnose the dominant specific phrases and phrases regarding a specific issue, topic, question, etc. In this way, the analysis of Internet users' sentiment regarding a specific topic is carried out using analytics carried out on Big Data Analytics platforms. . I have described these issues in the articles that I have posted on my Research Gate profile. I invite you to research cooperation.

In June 2019, Facebook announced plans to create its global stablecoin tied to fiat currencies (like USD or EUR). The stablecoin was initially named Libra, later changed to Diem. This stablecoin aims to facilitate global real-time transactions. Given Facebook’s nearly 3 billion users, stablecoin could have a very broad application and play an important role in global payment systems. Diem still lacks regulatory approval. What about the pros and cons for the global society? Does the project raise concerns for the global public, since Facebook, already collecting personal data on a large part of the world’s population, will additionally record individuals’ financial data?
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Konrad,
In my opinion, the main goal of creating an alternative currency, cryptocurrency, Libra stablecoin, which was later changed to Diem, was to facilitate micro-payments and settlement transactions, payments for products and services sold through sales platforms set up on Facebook. This is a kind of threat to the development of traditional internet and mobile banking. Internet technology companies, including companies running online social media portals, are trying to develop towards fintechs in order to bypass traditional banking systems and thus reduce financial operations, payment transactions and settlements made through their own websites. On the other hand, Internet banks are also heading towards fintechs by expanding the range of advisory and auxiliary services available on Internet banking websites, targeted at institutional clients, mainly enterprises from the SME sector. In this way, synergy and competition in the field of micro-payments and internet billing may increase in the future.

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is among the world’s toughest data protection laws. Under the GDPR, the EU’s data protection authorities can impose fines of up to up to €20 million (roughly $2,372,000), or 4 percent of worldwide turnover for the preceding financial year—whichever is higher.
Since the GDPR took effect in May 2018, we’ve seen over 800 fines issued across the European Economic Area (EEA) and the U.K. Enforcement started off somewhat slow. But between July 18, 2020, and July 18, 2021, there was a significant increase in the size and quantity of fines, with total penalties surging by around 113.5%. And that was before the record-breaking fine against Amazon—announced by the company in its July 30 earnings report—which dwarfed the cumulative total of all GDPR fines up until that date.
Top 10 fines so far:
  1. Amazon — €746 million
  2. Google – €50 million
  3. H&M — €35 million
  4. TIM – €27.8 million
  5. British Airways – €22 million
  6. Marriott – €20.4 million
  7. Wind — €17 million

The database of a social media portal such as Facebbok is already a powerful collection of information. Some research centers specializing in the use of Big Data datasets downloaded from social media portals through sentiment analysis, develop reports that can help in forecasting phenomena and processes in the future.
Medicine is one of the areas in which there are great possibilities in this matter. For example, insurance companies and commercial banks granting loans may be interested in information shared by users on Facebook and, possibly, also on other social media portals.

Before getting into all the technical details, please consider whether it makes common sense. If you are looking at the influence of something like Facebook addiction on academic performance then you need some way of measuring performance, and performance should be your dependent variable. If you are only measuring this once then there is a serious potential problem with your research: you appear to be assuming that there is no relationship between Facebook addiction and prior ability, which I suspect is not the case. For a variety of social factors I would expect that smarter people are less addicted to Facebook and therefore appear to perform better.

One of the facts that contributes to widen the gap is that more than 20% of S&P500 is composed by the big 5 tech companies - Amazon, Apple, Alphabet, Facebook and Microsoft - and large returns in these shares distort the index looking like the overall companies would be also providing large returns.
Is it interesting to test the effects of these 5 shares in different indexes such as the FTSE, Nikkei, DAX or the Shangai Index?
I wanted to understand if these companies are not only distorting the US stock market, but if they are also having a significant impact in other stock indices.

I think most businesses have changed their menus around, relocated products in the store, and in other ways changed aspects of the experience, specifically to see how customers would respond so that they could improve their operations.
Facebook got in a lot of hot water for changing its algorithm around to see how its users would react. Now, the users aren't exactly customers, as they're not paying for anything and are volunteering to use the service. But that just means that if FB is going to get into hot water for such studies, other businesses that are analyzing their customers' behavior might get into hot water too.
But there's really no standard or discussion, that I know of (and maybe I'm quite wrong here, which would be fine) as to when IRB approval would be necessary for businesses to change their way of doing business to test customer activity. Should there be, and what should that protocol be?

The field of research and business applications in the field of obtaining, archiving, analyzing and processing data in Big Data database systems has been developing strongly for several years.
There were hacking theft of personal, sensitive and secret data regarding users of social networks.
Are the results of research known, or are you familiar with publications describing risk management processes in the area of obtaining, archiving, analyzing and processing data in Big Data systems run by technological internet companies such as Google, Facebook, etc.
Technological internet companies such as Google, Facebook, etc. have the ability to obtain classified, sensitive and personal data from the Internet about the users of websites, including search engines and social media portals, who use these information services.
For the needs of these considerations, the issue of the security of classified data stored in Big Data database systems run by internet technology companies managing social media portals should be added.
There have been frequent thefts made by cybercriminals who, from these Big Data systems, stole classified and sensitive information about hundreds of thousands or millions of users of particular social media portals.
The development of social media portals therefore generates an increased risk of theft of data on users of social media portals.
Therefore, technological internet companies that run social media portals but also other companies that collect large amounts of data about users of specific, information services should continually develop and improve risk management systems for potential data loss from Big Data information resources.
Due to the above, in many companies, especially in large corporations, integrated risk management systems are built and improved.
Integrated risk management systems combine risk management processes in various areas of a company, institution or other organization.
One of the areas of risk management, the importance of which in many companies is growing, is risk management in the area of obtaining, archiving, analyzing and processing data in Big Data database systems.
In view of the above, I am asking you: Is the risk of cybercriminal attacks on Big Data database systems that contain personal data of social media portal users growing?

One of the biggest obstacles of research is finding people who will participate in research. It’s a gridlock, without participants there is no research!
There are other ways you can use to find participants for studies. some might be useful depending on the type of research you are doing:
1. Ask friends and everyone you know to ask their friends to ask their friends.
2. Go to where your audience usually are. (e.g., nursing home, special schools etc.).
3. Ask participants you find to refer colleagues and friends
4. Use services such as respondent.io and Testing Time.
5. Use webpages, Craigslist or an any other equivalent services.
6. try other social media outlets such as Google Plus, Twitter, and remember " in research, quality and outcome are more important than quantity or speed."

Yes, this is a very important issue. The issue of communication with the use of new online media is very important in the context of an efficiently run education process.
We are currently communicating widely across various online media, including via email. Some of the email mailboxes we use have anti-spam restrictions, which makes communication difficult. The development of communication through various online media, also through social media portals is an important issue in education. New media should be effectively used in the education process, but not always their technical specification is fully suitable for the needs of communication development in the context of the ongoing education process. Hi,
If you are intending to use a considerably large sample frame then data-mining software will make the task easier. If you will be using a small sample and aiming for very detailed qualitative analysis then manual coding, pen and paper might suffice.
There are numerous text-mining tools available (General Sentiment, Lexalytics, Radian6, Text Stat and so on) but it is best to choose one that suits your budget and technical ability and more importantly, the best tool for what you want to achieve / find out through your research.
The golden rule is the use of any analytic tool is best guided not by the capabilities of the software but by the aims and objectives of the research project and the interpretive requirements of the researcher.

Will the share of transactions made with traditional money issued by central banks decline successively due to the development of cryptocurrencies? What are the consequences of this process in a country with large and growing public debt?
More and more large companies are announcing the creation of their own cryptocurrency. Some investment banks, such as JP Morgan, have announced the creation of their own cryptocurrency for settlements with key contractors. Some technology companies operating in the field of ICT and new online media also plan to develop blockchain technology in cryptocurrency applications. For example, the social media portal Facebook also announced the creation of its own criticism called Libra, which the users of the portal will be able to pay for various services available through Facebook. Some investment funds invest their financial capital in some cryptocurrencies.
Whether in the context of the development of cryptocurrencies, the share of transactions made with traditional money issued by central banks will gradually decrease. Will the development of cryptocurrencies and their rapid dissemination not jeopardize the stability of the monetary systems of some countries? If the share of traditional money in total transactions made by citizens will decrease, will the significance of the financial system, including the banking system, also decrease? If there is a large unpaid public debt in a given country and a decrease in the use of traditional money in transactions between entities, can it lead to a serious financial and / or currency crisis? Many countries finance their public finance debt by issuing Treasury bonds in which foreign financial institutions also invest. So, can future cryptocurrencies be used for international settlements in the future? Can the decrease of confidence in the national currency of a heavily indebted country lead to an increase in international settlements using cryptocurrencies?
Do you agree with me on the above matter?
In the context of the above issues, I am asking you the following question:
Will the share of transactions made with traditional money issued by central banks decline successively due to the development of cryptocurrencies? What are the consequences of this process in a country with large and growing public debt?
Please reply
I invite you to the discussion
Thank you very much

It’s difficult to answer this question with complete confidence. Perhaps a middle ground needs to be reached; banks need to do more to understand and accommodate the blockchain technology behind cryptocurrency, and the creators of new cryptocurrencies need to consider and appreciate the importance of traditional banking practices. Cryptocurrencies developed on blockchain platforms could prove to be perfectly suitable for the digital age. It is an alternative that is fundamentally different from the existing financial world and it does have the potential to prevail over traditional money.

I have chosen to conduct a descriptive (cross-sectional) study in my master thesis (Public Health programme). The aim is to determine anxiety and depression, among women diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I would like to requite my participants through Facebook in PCOS Facebook support groups (more than 5000 members in total) and through Facebook Advertising tool to reach out to those not members of groups.
My questions: Is it possible to find the prevalence (of anxiety and depression among Danish women with PCOS), when the requited women on Facebook are not representative of the general population? Furthermore, is it possible to randomize the sample? If not, should I just use the word “proportion” instead?
Therefore it takes me to the last question about sample size; would I be able to calculate a representative sample size? I used Kish Leslie method and I got a number of 196. Is this a minimum number, and can I exceed that number of participants and therefore make the study stronger?

Answer
Since this is a masters-level thesis work, I strongly suggest that you include considerations in capturing patients with PCOS who are not in Facebook. Furthermore, you can also delimit your coverage to include only patients with PCOS in a particular country (such as Denmark) or in that Facebook group (which I perceive will be an issue to your adviser and in your desire to get a statistically-sound estimate).
"Is it possible to find the prevalence (of anxiety and depression among Danish women with PCOS), when the requited women on Facebook are not representative of the general population?" - Answer: Technically speaking, it is possible to get an estimate of the prevalence even in this scenario, but it will be challenging to convince the reader or yourself or your adviser that this estimate is close to the parameter given the issue of representativeness. You have to contend with issues such as whether there is expected or real differences between patients with PCOS who are in and not in that group.
"Furthermore, is it possible to randomize the sample?" - Answer: Randomization is possible, but it will still not address the fact the Facebook group where you'll do it is likely not representative of the population you want to study in conceptual terms. In this regard, assuming that you'll stick to the plan that you mentioned, I suggest that you aim for law of large numbers and strive to invite as many members from that group as possible, rather than randomizing in a sample that is "flawed" to begin with, given the relative convenience.
"If not, should I just use the word “proportion” instead?" - Answer: Proportion may be a safer word compared to prevalence, but there is no doubt that you are aiming to estimate prevalence anyway.
Regarding your final paragraph, remember that, in more cases than not, standard sample size equations assume that the population ("N") you are working on is appropriate, and you will obtain the sample ("n") through means that will lead to a representative group. The number you will get from any equation is usually the minimum number that will be sound given the conditions/scenarios/values you plugged in from the equation that you used (hence, that minimum sample size estimate is only as good as the values you plugged in the equation), so you can theoretically exceed the number (with approval of course from your ethical board).
