Members of the general population engage in the arts as a hobby, for entertainment, or as a form of relaxation. Yet most arts and health research focuses on the benefits of art therapy, on specific projects, or specific target groups (e.g. young people) rather than the general population. I was wondering what the evidence is surrounding arts engagement and general population health? Also, should we be focusing our efforts on population based arts/health studies as a way of gaining community support for the arts and arts funding?
Ever since I was introduced to the basic principles of economics, I was told and made to believe that all economic decision making agents are rational. Despite its essence in the mainstream arguments, this assumption is far from being true in the entertainment industry where emotions serve as the key signals for doing or not something. From economic point of view, this industry mobilizes huge amount of capital in both developed and developing countries alike. The speed of money is also arguably highest in this sector.
I was wondering if there have been formal and rigorous studies conducted to explain the behavioral whereabouts of people in the entertainment industry.
