That's indeed an interesting question. I am not a spectroscopist, but here you have my understanding on this matter, which hopefully helps. I have done the numbers myself, and you are absolutely right, using a pure crystal field approximation, the 4T1g state should be at 0.8Δoct.

The thing here is that this (F)4T1g state can mix (due to having the same symmetry) with the higher energy (P)4T1g state. This will result in a slight lowering in energy for the (F)4T1g state and an increase in energy for the (P)4T1g.

The extent of the mixing (and energy stabilisation) cannot be calculated easily, because it depends on several factors including the Racah parameter (note the energy difference between F and P is approximated as 15B, with B being the Racah parameter). For this reason, it is normally calculated from experimental and/or computational data, and this gives an empirical value around 0.6Δoct. Nonetheless, this is still a rather crude approximation, because if you look at the experimental Tanabe-Sugano diagrams for d3 metals, you can observe that the energy difference between the T2g and T1g states is not constant (mainly due to the mixing of the aforementioned (P) and (F) 4T1g states).

This means testing things on a small part of the city before making big changes everywhere. By doing this, we can see what works well and what doesn't without spending a lot of money or causing big disruptions. For example, we could test a new bike lane on one street to see if it reduces traffic and helps cyclists. If it works, we can expand it to other areas. This way, we make our cities better by learning from these small experiments.

Being an Australian, there is only one obvious answer! :-) Who in their right mind would want to live in UK! But it really depends on what area of research is being pursued and what expertise is available. In some specialist areas, there are probably only a one or two universities in each country that really have the expertise, equipment and capability for research projects in those fields.

There could be a powerful sink for CO2 nearby, such as young and dense forest. Within a forest's canopy at low wind speed, you can easily observe CO2 below 300 ppm. Much less probable would be to have such depression inside a living room. Nonetheless, sometimes it happens, e.g., if you have a project involving vast amounts of soda lime (or other CO2 absorbing reactants) in a non-ventilated lab space...

I think you need to clarify some of the terms that you are using.

First, a paradigm is a broad world view that guides your research, such as using Constructivism to justify your choice of a qualitative approach.

Second, methodology refers to collections of inter-related methods, such as qualitative methodology.

Third, methods are specific techniques for collecting and analyzing data, such as semi-structured interviews.

Since you seem to be near the beginning of your research, you should concentrate on connecting your research goals and your choice of research methods. In particular, why do you think that semi-structured interviews would be an appropriate method for studying this question with this set of participants? How will this type of data serve your research purposes?

The U.S. government does not know exactly where, when, or how the COVID-19 virus—known as SARS-CoV-2—was transmitted initially to humans. We have not determined whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals or was the result of an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan, China. The virus could have emerged naturally from human contact with infected animals, spreading in a pattern consistent with a natural epidemic. Alternatively, a laboratory accident could resemble a natural outbreak if the initial exposure included only a few individuals and was compounded by asymptomatic infection. Scientists in China have researched animal-derived coronaviruses under conditions that increased the risk for accidental and potentially unwitting exposure. The CCP’s deadly obsession with secrecy and control comes at the expense of public health in China and around the world. The previously undisclosed information in this fact sheet, combined with open-source reporting, highlights three elements about COVID-19’s origin that deserve greater scrutiny:1. Illnesses inside the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV):The U.S. government has reason to believe that several researchers inside the WIV became sick in autumn 2019, before the first identified case of the outbreak, with symptoms consistent with both COVID-19 and common seasonal illnesses. This raises questions about the credibility of WIV senior researcher Shi Zhengli’s public claim that there was “zero infection” among the WIV’s staff and students of SARS-CoV-2 or SARS-related viruses. Accidental infections in labs have caused several previous virus outbreaks in China and elsewhere, including a 2004 SARS outbreak in Beijing that infected nine people, killing one. The CCP has prevented independent journalists, investigators, and global health authorities from interviewing researchers at the WIV, including those who were ill in the fall of 2019. Any credible inquiry into the origin of the virus must include interviews with these researchers and a full accounting of their previously unreported illness. 2. Research at the WIV:Starting in at least 2016 – and with no indication of a stop prior to the COVID-19 outbreak – WIV researchers conducted experiments involving RaTG13, the bat coronavirus identified by the WIV in January 2020 as its closest sample to SARS-CoV-2 (96.2% similar). The WIV became a focal point for international coronavirus research after the 2003 SARS outbreak and has since studied animals including mice, bats, and pangolins. The WIV has a published record of conducting “gain-of-function” research to engineer chimeric viruses. But the WIV has not been transparent or consistent about its record of studying viruses most similar to the COVID-19 virus, including “RaTG13,” which it sampled from a cave in Yunnan Province in 2013 after several miners died of SARS-like illness. WHO investigators must have access to the records of the WIV’s work on bat and other coronaviruses before the COVID-19 outbreak. As part of a thorough inquiry, they must have a full accounting of why the WIV altered and then removed online records of its work with RaTG13 and other viruses. 3. Secret military activity at the WIV:Secrecy and non-disclosure are standard practice for Beijing. For many years the United States has publicly raised concerns about China’s past biological weapons work, which Beijing has neither documented nor demonstrably eliminated, despite its clear obligations under the Biological Weapons Convention. Despite the WIV presenting itself as a civilian institution, the United States has determined that the WIV has collaborated on publications and secret projects with China’s military. The WIV has engaged in classified research, including laboratory animal experiments, on behalf of the Chinese military since at least 2017. The United States and other donors who funded or collaborated on civilian research at the WIV have a right and obligation to determine whether any of our research funding was diverted to secret Chinese military projects at the WIV. Today’s revelations just scratch the surface of what is still hidden about COVID-19’s origin in China. Any credible investigation into the origin of COVID-19 demands complete, transparent access to the research labs in Wuhan, including their facilities, samples, personnel, and records. As the world continues to battle this pandemic – and as WHO investigators begin their work, after more than a year of delays – the virus’s origin remains uncertain. The United States will continue to do everything it can to support a credible and thorough investigation, including by continuing to demand transparency on the part of Chinese authorities.

Britain's presence in the European countries was more due to the European Union's policy towards the US than when they saw that not only this orientation towards the US was in some cases confronted with the US, but with the departure of Britain the policy of that country was also with the US. Rebecca, you may want to look at biographies of John and Charles Wesley who were English cleric, theologian and evangelists who were leaders of a revival movement within the Church of England known as Methodism. The Wesley brothers embraced Arminian doctrines. The best way to compare two areas is to live in both for at least a few months and not to merely simulate them via computing algorythms. This may seem counter-intuitive, but consider how the media distort or even ignore some place you live or have lived. Can this be because "memes" about places are being passed without enough active observers o update and correct invalid or incorrect data on those places.

Interesting questions. Couple of things: what is the underlying population structure of these species without considering sample location? Have you performed analyses such as a PCA, clustering, or genetic distance? Estimated the number of migrants or migration rates? That way you can identify potential genetic groupings that would serve as a more appropriate units to estimate Ne. It would be more biologically-based than sample-based.

With LDNe it is often advisable to estimate Ne using different thresholds of MAF. I believe the default is usually 0.02. That will give an indication of how much MAF is affecting your estimates of Ne.

In theory Ne estimates for different species are comparable. Are the same exact loci being used across species? There are a number of studies that have pulled together Ne estimates from different species and compared them, so I would say they are comparable. The theory is the same.

Try estimating Ne at the site-level and across sites and report both with a fair discussion of what the limitations of combining site localities with slight substructuring might be. Check out some of Andrew Whiteley's paper's on brook trout: he has written extensively about this topic. Also, Wang's recent paper in Molecular Ecology suggests his sibship based estimate of Ne implemented in Colony might be more accurate and does not have the same assumptions of LD-Ne, but requires a larger sample size.

To use the ER you need to know case name or year. They ended in 1873 so maybe you won't need them.

I do agree that the best place to start is with an analysis of the law. This will also give leading cases. You can often check whether a case has been appealed (and perhaps reversed) by searching its name not as "case name" but as phrase.

University of Portsmouth has a really useful, publicly available resource called The Great Britain Historical Database. It covers all censuses from 1851-1961 and is easily searchable by specific location. It covers various aspects of housing, including a number of subsets split under tenure type. However, I'm doubtful that tenure type was collected in the majority of 19th Century censuses.
