As tax authorities increasingly turn to AI-driven tools for auditing, risk scoring, and cross-border tax enforcement, a critical legal dilemma arises:
Can international law ensure fairness, transparency, and protection of taxpayer rights especially in regions lacking the technical capacity or legal safeguards to oversee algorithmic systems?
Drawing from recent scandals like the Dutch “Toeslagenaffaire,” this question invites interdisciplinary insights into the intersection of AI governance, international tax law, and digital justice.
What are the most effective legal responses to prevent algorithmic discrimination and protect vulnerable taxpayers in a rapidly digitizing world?
Relevant answer
Answer
Mohammadamir Modami I believe that global tax law is, at best, still catching up to the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-powered enforcement, especially in countries where there is weak algorithmic oversight. While the use of AI in enforcement can offer greater efficiency and precision in identifying tax fraud or non-compliance, I’m concerned that, in places with limited oversight, the risks could outweigh the benefits.
AI systems, if not carefully monitored and regulated, can inadvertently perpetuate biases, make errors, or even fail to account for the unique socio-economic factors that affect tax compliance. In countries with weak governance structures or insufficient algorithmic accountability, these risks are magnified. The AI models could unfairly target certain populations or lead to misapplications of tax laws, creating unfair burdens on taxpayers.
I also worry about the lack of transparency. AI systems often operate as "black boxes," meaning that their decision-making processes are not always clear to the public or even to the officials overseeing them. This makes it difficult to ensure fairness and accountability, particularly when those being targeted by the AI-powered enforcement systems have little recourse for challenging potentially erroneous decisions.
In my view, a strongg framework for algorithmic oversight and transparency is essential before AI-powered enforcement can be fully integrated into global tax systems, especially in countries with weaker legal infrastructure. Without this, the system could end up exacerbating inequalities, undermining trust in the tax system, and potentially violating fundamental rights. For global tax law to be truly ready for AI-powered enforcement, there needs to be a serious commitment to ethical AI practices, international collaboration, and the development of clear, transparent guidelines to safeguard against these risks.

The retaliation act by Israel would be one of the worst scenario nowadays in this planet, probably after WWII which also deter the cross border humanitarian activities & totally a genocide for human beings.
So, where about the rule-of-law, UN conventions,...etc. Instead of those Israel action & even people lost, why not UN, US & other actors that play the game make an imposition on Palestinian leaders, diplomacy sanctions, economic sanctions and others, in Arab-league also.
However, the mess in politics many innocent people, children and others lost their life and face great suffering. The same is going in Ukraine- Russia war and in many places in the world.
Hence, again where is about the rule-of-law, role of UN,...??? where is the voice of amnesty, ICC and others humanitarian agencies??? They shall examine their mandates. Otherwise, with this ignorance we don't anticipate where the world is going???

First, the Syrian war, which has been ongoing for more than 12 years and has become a regional disaster, and the internal Iraqi, Turkish, Iranian, Yemeni, Libyan, Sudanese, and Russian-Ukrainian internal conflicts. Secondly, the underlying sources of tension, the Taiwan problem, border problems in most African countries, and Latin American conflicts. Third, the economic crises will be the decisive and supportive factor in the outbreak of World War III, and the economic indicators are: the Chinese-American trade war, the problem of global trade, especially in the Red Sea, global inflation, environmental degradation and rapid climate changes.

Researches on legal complexities on cross border transactions ?
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Das,
These are some of the key legal complexities related to cross border transactions in the context of Ghana's Contract Act (Act 25) and Sale of Goods Act (Act 137), as well as a brief comparison to other countries:
Registration/Documentation Requirements
- Ghana's Contract Act and Sale of Goods Act do not contain specific provisions related to cross border transactions. However, cross border sales may require additional documentation such as customs forms, import licenses, certificates of origin, etc.
- Similar documentation is typically required for cross border transactions in other countries as well to comply with customs regulations. The specific forms and processes vary by country.
Applicable Law & Jurisdiction
- Ghanaian law, as well as the laws of the other country involved, may potentially apply to cross border contracts. This can create uncertainty over which country's laws govern the transaction.
- Contract terms should clearly specify which country's laws apply and where legal disputes will be resolved. Many countries treat this as a contractual issue that parties can determine via agreement.
Payment Terms & Methods
- Cross border transactions involve additional risks related to payment methods, currency conversions, and potential bank/country restrictions on funds transfers.
- Payment contractual terms should reflect issues like currency conversion timing/rates, account details, and contingency plans if transfers fail. These issues apply broadly to cross border transactions globally.
Taxes, Duties & Import Restrictions
- Goods imported to Ghana may be subject to customs duties, VAT, excise taxes, etc. which adds costs if not properly accounted for.
- Most countries have complex import regulations, quotas, tariffs, and restrictions by product type that parties must consider for cross border sales.
In summary, while Ghana lacks specific regulations around cross border sales, parties should address documentation, applicable laws, payments, taxes, and import restrictions to minimize the legal uncertainties involved. Many of these issues are common globally.

What is the impact of the current energy crisis, which is developing simultaneously in many countries, on the processes of globalization?
Internationally and globally operating social, economic, financial processes, cultural changes taking place, changing standards in the cross-border movement of various factors of production, various categories of capital, value, changes in the field of global Internet media, etc. in recent years have determined changes in the processes of globalization. The SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic also modified globalization processes in many ways. Interrupted during the pandemic, the chains of international supply and procurement logistics delayed the delivery of components, prefabricated products and raw materials for production processes of manufactured final products in other regions of the world, in other countries, on other continents. On the other hand, during the pandemic, the scale of digitization and Internetization of economic processes increased, the use of remote communication, data transfer via the Internet, including internationally, increased. The scale of settlements and payments made online increased. The development of e-governance, e-banking, e-commerce, e-logistics, e-learning, purchases made via the Internet, remote work, digitization of public offices and institutions, development of online and mobile banking, offering cultural services of museums, galleries, theaters, etc., has accelerated. Also, the global problems of the climate crisis, the progressive process of global warming, the global problems of environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, the global problems of climate change discussed at the UN-Eth international COP Climate Conferences, etc. determine the processes of pro-environmental and pro-climate globalization. Also, economic and financial crises are sometimes realized internationally and globally. This was the case, for example, during the recent global financial crisis of 2007-2009. Key changes in market trends on commodity exchanges and stock exchanges are simultaneously occurring analogously in many different parts of the world, in different countries, on different continents. At present, in many countries where during the pandemic additional government subsidy programs were applied, financial mainly non-refundable state aid to commercially operating economic entities, additional financial social programs on the basis of the issuance of treasury securities, an increase in the debt of the system of state finances and the printing of money from 2021, an increase in inflation has appeared. Central banks to limit the growth of inflation taking analogous measures to raise interest rates affect economic processes in many countries. The rising cost of money causes a decline in lending, a decline in investment, a decline in the economic activity of companies and enterprises, unemployment may appear. Simultaneously appearing analogous downturn processes may lead to another economic crisis in 2023, which will also be global. Meanwhile, another energy crisis is currently developing in many countries. This crisis also determines the occurrence of various economic problems, which either also operate internationally or take place in the form of analogous economic, social and other processes realizing at the same time, in the same nature in different countries. Since the currently developing energy crisis determines many derivatives of analogous economic and other phenomena occurring in many countries, so it also acquires an international and perhaps global character.
In view of the above, I address the following question to the esteemed community of researchers and scientists:
What is the impact of the currently developing simultaneous energy crisis in many countries on the processes of globalization?
What do you think about this topic?
What is your opinion on this issue?
Please answer,
I invite everyone to join the discussion,

Do multinational corporations and financial institutions, including banks and investment funds, play a significant role in generating globalization processes?
In recent years, the importance of supranational large corporations and financial institutions, including banks and investment funds, has been growing.
These large industrial, service, commercial and financial corporations are a particularly important factor in contemporary globalization processes. If such large corporations operate cross-border, cross-border in many countries, including small economies, generate negative processes of globalization, then in these countries reverse and deglobalization processes may appear.
Deglobalization, ie the reverse process to globalization, is taking place most strongly in those economic regions in which globalization processes generate many negative aspects.
In view of the above, I would like to ask you: Do multinational corporations and financial institutions, including banks and investment funds, play a significant role in generating globalization processes?

Dear Sirs,
I am writing a project relating to transboundary pollution in the case of nuclear from an international environmental legal approach. As there is quite a lot of literature within this topic, I wonder what would be the best focus as to where to start.
I have a special interest in potential transboundary pollution due to nuclear accidents as to how states protect themselves when there are possibilities of nuclear accidents. An example could be unsafe reactors in a cross-border case, what are the legal implications in this aspect? Many thanks.
Yours sincerely,
Daniele
Relevant answer
Answer
Transboundary pollution of the natural environment, including air, water, etc. pollution from radioactive waste, industrial pollution emitted from various production processes, plastic pollution, etc. is a growing problem. Therefore, it is necessary to improve international cooperation in order to reduce the scale of cross-border pollution of the natural environment from country to country, and to reduce various types of pollution emitted to the environment that are not biodegradable and adversely affect natural ecosystems and humans.

Dear Dr. David Boansi you have raised the world wide growing concern that has a very serious impact on economy, health, education, etc in the developing countries.Brain drain is defined as the migration of health personnel in search of the better standard of living and quality of life, higher salaries, access to advanced technology and more stable political conditions in different places worldwide ( Dodani and LaPorte, 2005).Yes you are right dear Dr. David Boansi . The majority of migration is from developing to developed countries. The main drivers of brain drain are:
  • Better standards of living and quality of life,
  • Higher salaries,
  • Access to advanced technology and
  • More stable political conditions in the developed countries attract talent from less developed areas.
So, addressing the aforementioned gaps can minimize brain drain from the developing countries.

I am studying these enterprises as an attempt to understand how theoretically, these enterprises, conceptualised as occuring in developing society, differ from those occuring in western/developed ones. First, I want to contribute to the growing immigrant entrepreneural literature, and also interrogate it. On the flip side of it, the study is also a contribution to south-south migration which is often difficult to find in the migration literature.
One key objective is to examine Nigerian migrants' propensity to self employment, but also I want to explore how their activities serve as continuity, or discontinuity/break to those pursued by thei forebearers in Accra. Of course issues about operational strategies and profiling will also be explored.
I will be interested in suggestions that point to appropriate methodological strategies including sampling, data collection instruments and analyses.

Your objectives; 1) to examine Nigerian migrants' propensity to self employment, 2) to explore how their activities serve as continuity, or discontinuity/break to those pursued by thei forebearers in Accra. 3) issues about operational strategies and profiling will also be explored.
Objective 1 can be met through a phenomelogical approach-hear it from them. objective 2 may require a comparative approach which can also be addressed using a qualitative approach. The third objective i believe can also  be achieved using the same approaches.

What do you think about the best qualitative method to better explore and interpret the career paths in migrant women's experience? Which method would be more coherent and suitable to be used between semi-structured interviews or life histories? I have a quite clear opinion about, but it would be interesting to hear your own opinions and discuss this issue to clarify mine. The starting point is to analyse the personal/professional evolution and combine them both. Thank you in advance for your contributions.

Answer
I think that putting labels on methods can be more confusing than helpful. Still, calling something semi-structured interview gives you lots of options about how you set up the questions.
But a lot does depend on who your audiences and evaluators are. If you have to convince people who might be skeptical about your methods, you may need to be more careful about how you label your approach.

Due to the wave of immigration to Europe that has become more pronounced in recent times, what solutions do you propose for the reception of emigration to Europe ?
Your answer will be greatly appreciated.
Helena
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear @Helena, your country is at the south west of the European continent, so You did not have a chance yet to see this exodus. My country is on most of their routes to EU. They enter from Greece over Macedonia, Bulgaria..., and they get all possible help here. After few days, they are going to the border of Hungary!!! 13 meter high fence on the border!
My country is not the member of EU, but we get the immigrants from EU countries (Greece, Bulgaria) and EU prevent immigrants to enter EU (Hungary)! This is very serious situation as winter is so close.
Short term care should be due to their survival during coming winter.
Long term solution is, as @Dejenie has stated, to solve the basic problems in their countries of origin and their integration in society without borders (is it EU)! It is a long term process. Here we do have large-scale migration of peoples!

Migration from developing to developed countries is a reality, but brings with it inequalities.
Relevant answer
Answer
As Sir Michael Marmoth uses to say: "no data, no probem".
The first step needed is to start to collect and analyse official data (income, education, occupation and employment rates as well as overweight, diabetes, life expectancy) to compare social and health conditions between native and immigrants in order to highlight the social inequalities in health regarding country of birth.

What are your views on the issue of multiculturalism in Europe? Some voices are suggesting that it has failed.
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear All,
Multiculturalism? a case story:
I have had a very good friend in Sudan. We were room-mates for four years at the Gödöllő University in Hungary.
Five years ago we (the remaining Hungarian old students) organised a meeting for celebrating the 30th anniversary of our studies.
I have had an official letter of invitation prepared for my friend in which letter I personally proved my incomes and promised I would accept responsibility for his all possible future deeds and troubles in Hungary. My friend went with this letter to the German Embassy in Khartoum (In Sudan there is no Hungarian Embassy). The German clerk asked him to take out a very expensive insurance. He took it out and when he went back with it, the clerk informed him that his motivation for travelling into Hungary was not founded and refused the visa. Later, I wrote a letter to the Hungarian Foreign Minister in this case and got an answer that everything was in order and because I had no official authorisation from my friend so I could get no more information.
Recently, I have got an unofficial information that Hungary has no right to allow to enter people in the EU from countries like Sudan.
Now, we would like to organise our next meeting. What to do?
