Due to the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus pandemic, in order to limit the development of the pandemic, full-time teaching activities at schools and colleges have now been suspended and replaced by e-learning in many countries. Due to the suspension of stationary didactic classes in schools and colleges, classes are conducted remotely, through various new online media through specific forms of e-learning. The growing importance and development of e-learning is also correlated with the current acceleration of the digitization processes of the economy.
Therefore, teachers are looking for answers to the following research questions:
- How will the current state of the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus pandemic affect learning outcomes?
- To what extent can modern ICT information technologies implemented in the teaching processes effectively replace traditional, stationary teaching processes?
- How long can schools and universities last for only in e-learning form?
- To what extent the use of ICT, Internet and Industry 4.0 information technologies for teaching processes enabled continuation of education during the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus pandemic?
- What are currently used applications and e-learning platforms through which online real-time teaching classes are conducted remotely via the Internet? ZOOM, Google Meet, Microsoft Teems, ... or other?
The purpose of answering these questions will be continued research for many months, i.e. also after the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus pandemic has expired, because a similar pandemic cannot be ruled out in the future. Therefore, the above questions should be answered and education systems better prepared for such an eventuality.

New technologies of computerized, advanced information processing, technologies typical for the current fourth technological revolution, known as Industry 4.0, are increasingly integrating and functioning in the Internet environment.
The current technological revolution, known as Industry 4.0, is determined by the development of the following technologies of advanced information processing: Big Data database technologies, cloud computing, machine learning, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, Business Intelligence and other advanced data mining technologies. These technologies are successively implemented to developed social media portals. Due to the development of applications of these advanced information processing technologies, new types of computerized teaching instruments are created in educational processes, and educational systems also undergo technological transformation and Education 4.0 is defined.

I live and study in Vienna, Austria. You know Austria is a wealthy and developed country, and Vienna is well-known for high standards and quality of living and it has been on the top of the list of the most livable cities in the world.
However, the coverage area of Eduroam wifi network is very limited here, and the speed of connection is too low. The coverage area is in some cases even smaller than the university buildings and campuses. For instance, in many parts of the AKH (the largest hospital in Austria and the main academic hospital used by the University of Vienna) or parts of buildings of TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology) the Eduroam wifi signals is very slow or even not existing at all.
It is really a shame and disappointing fact for me as a PhD candidate in Vienna that I can't really count on Eduroam and I'm always dependent on other internet providers to connect to the internet and do my research.
How well does the Eduroam wifi network cover and function at your university, city or country in general? Would you share your experience? How could such problems be solved?

I am currentliy Developing my subject for my graduation work (M.A. E-Learning and Media Education).
At the moment I am mostly interested in looking whether and how the live-streaming platform "twitch.tv" can be effectively used to provide education in any way, form and context.
The subject has to specified though, but the decision to work on this subject mostly depends on the question whether there are some researches and/or scientific works regarding this thematic field. My recent searches didn't provide the best results, which is why I am now trying to ask you guys for a little help or some hints.
Maybe there is someone out there, who already did some research in this thematic field and can name some important frame works, researches and articles to read or at least good websites/search engines to search for resources. Any advice and suggestion will help me.

The last years we are working with serveral data sets that contain emotion measurements on different levels (self-report, facial action coding, eye tracking, physiological data like heart rate and skin conductance, lexical and sentiment analysis of texts).
We do not naively believe that the components of emotions match all the time or over longer or shorter time spans. But stil we search for correspondences between different emotional components.
Our aim is to measure and to integrate emotions in technology based learning designs.
Are there new ideas how to bring different components of emotions together?

I wonder if we consider the infrastructure limitation, this may closer to the traditional e-learning research with a medium that people can bring home and launch standalone.

Coming at this from an education perspective rather than a computer science perspective - I think the question is, what is it that we want children to know at various ages? Coding languages come and go - some more traditional than others, some more drag and drop oriented. Is it the language we want them to develop? Or is it the habits of mind that we want to instill in the them? Computational Literacy has, in the past, been confused with coding. If we want students to have computational literacy, coding does not need to be a central focus. Focusing on coding rather than computational literacies and problem solving may also be one of the issues creating an off ramp for students on the STEM pipeline for CS oriented careers.  Rather than teaching coding and expecting habits of mind to arise out of learning to code, perhaps we should focus on habits of mind, thinking and problem-solving then allow the need to code to naturally arise from the students seeking to solve issues they have thought deeply about where coding is the solution, not the entry.

In my opinion, you can do both. But jumping into existing framework will be less helpful as you did not fully understand the components that should be in the TF. Maybe you can decide on either one theory (SConstruct or SocioCultural) then after deciding, explore more about the theory and what they say about CL.

I edited a text with 15 simulations.  Each simulation begins with reading and listening sections and ends with writing prompts.  And, of course, since they are simulations, each has speaking/listening tasks (what I consider the heart of the simulation).  We use this text in ENGL 0003, a four-skills remedial class here at Oklahoma State University.

I think, more and more, the dialectical or middle-ground solution may be taking over. Perhaps Blended (Hybrid) Learning will become the most popular? Despite the online technology available, in other areas of life for example, people still go to movie theaters, concerts, and go shopping in physical stores and shopping centers. I feel many students would still ideally prefer traditional education if they did not have to worry about costs, transportation, living expenses, etc. There are published articles and surveys, where students have responded slightly in favor of face-to-face learning and still regard face-to-face education as better in some ways (example link below). The human nature is to try to get the best of both worlds if we can. Online education and educational technology are here to stay. But due to the social nature of people and some of the ways we learn, I guess blended learning will be the popular middle ground. Blended is the way many traditional universities and schools have been moving in the last few decades. Finally, the answer may also depend on the subject being studied or taught. As far as I understand, MOOCs are like other spaces of interaction. So, from the model that our group is working in last years, most important factors could be: affordance (not only accessibility but also motivation and so on); certainty (To innovate, we need a low level of certainty, to follow a MOOC in our spare time -almost always the case- I presume that is just the opposite);negotiation of meaning (just the balance between challenge and skills to be able to contrast meanings with others)

To add to the never ending debate on teaching workload and VLE adoption woes. This issue keeps on coming in my data and it seems never ending.

We at Botho university are one of the few institutions in Botswana utilizing VLE. The university staff use the blackboard supposedly for teaching and learning. But I and 3 of my colleagues are carrying out a study to establish if at all VLE is used effectively. From some of our findings it seems like lecturers use it as a depository for their notes and other documentation needed to prepare students for their exams. We need to use it for more than that.
It is advantageous since it allows students to access information from anywhere-but reduces the contact time leading to very limited development of soft skills such as interpersonal,  good communication and analytical skills-my thoughts!!

Pluses and minuses! Access to information is a boon and a threat to learning. I am a technophile and use it constantly to enhance my personal research. My observations of students and teachers over the las 10 years in particular is that ready access to information positions students to misunderstand some components of quality leaning.
1. Reading. They perceive reading as superfiial scanning to find key words related to their interest, nd rarely read deeply to extract underlying concepts.
2. Writing. They perceive writing as reconstructing existing text, rather than using it to test the meaning in theirnown minds.
3. Evaluation. Students do not understand the value of information.
This not a complaint but an observation of most recently, my 16 year old chemistry students. I am trying to set in place a strategy to reverse this trend, that does not involve denying access to technology. A beginning point is a mantra 'its not what you learn but what you do with it that counts'. I stole it from a 15 year old sword fighting instructor.

Luke: It is a tough problem. The motivation has to come from the student. However we can do a few things that can help him/her to succeed. A few points are
1. The course should be designed for success of the learners by providing them with all the resources required
2. Publish very clearly what are the requirements for the course and set clear guidelines for the expectations. In the process also make sure how these are relevant.
3. Keep interacting with them electronically and provide continuous encouragement
4. Have a continuous assessment of their work and provide prompt feedback. Give helpful suggestions and reward excellence during their submissions or tests.
5. Lastly having some success stories of past students that were benefited by this mode of offering in this course or other course would help.
