I am getting the error 'missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed' in G2Sd package of R programming when I input the table containing mesh size in microns and its weight in g. I used the code library(G2Sd) and then granstat(web_interface = TRUE). When the web interface dialog box is opened I gave the input and this error occurred. How to rectify it and also is there any example dataset of the table to be given as input?

Dear Yamini,
'missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed' is a general error message and is probably not thrown by package 'G2Sd'. R throws this error when a condition used in if or while is not TRUE or FALSE but NA. Of course the error is somehow connected to G2Sd and your data (it might be caused by a bug in G2Sd or one of its required packages), but for debugging you should examine the result of traceback() called right after the error message. Maybe this shiny application catched the errror with a tryCatch(), in this case it is really hard to debug. If the error message displayed by shiny is also sent to the R session in the form of a warning, you can start debugging by turning warnings to errors (options(warn = 2)).

I'm trying to run my model founded attached and every time I get the error below:
"This block contains internal state, but it is being driven only by constant signals. You must modify your design so that it is clear at what rate this block should be updated. You can do this by changing an upstream constant block to be a "sampled constant", or, if it is in a feedback loop, by adding an "Assert" block.
In the debugging of this problem, you may find it helpful to have the sample rates displayed on the Simulink diagram. This will happen if you open the System Generator block's dialog box, set its "Block Icon Display" control to "Sample Rates", and then update the diagram.

I do not believe I understand your question correctly, but your either have one variable "Age" with two values (0 = Youth; 1 = Adult) or two variables, one of which is "Youth" (0 = no; 1 = yes) and the other is "Adult" (0 = no; 1 = yes).

It is upt to you which value you choose as the reference category.

I installed the PROCESS Custom Dialog v3.5 by Andrew F. Hayes on two different versions of SPSS (26 and 27, both on Windows 10) running SPSS as an administrator and using the 'extension' menu. The program then appeared under the 'regression' menu and seemed correctly installed until I runned my first mediation model (model 4, 1 mediator, 3 covariates, around 400 obs). The processor started running but nothing appeared on the outputs until I stopped the processor and forced Windows to close SPSS.
Has anyone had the same experience and knows how to fix the problem? Perhaps I did something wrong in installing the custom dialog program?
Eventually, I tried with the syntax but SPSS does not recognise the 'process' command and, after checking on the manual, I didn't understand how this should be modified in PROCESS v.3.5 compared to the older versions (while I understood the other changes in tne syntax). Could someone clarify this for me?

PROCESS operates on both Windows and Mac versions of SPSS and SAS.  PROCESS for SPSS requires SPSS version 19 or later but works best on versions 22 and above.

I build a model which includes 2 parts, each has a specific constant material property. For example, part/domain 1 has the absorptions coefficient a=50 and the other part/domain of the model will be a=100. Now I use the general coefficient form PDE and want to assign those absorptions coefficients in the PDE dialog. How can I do this?

I'm using Hayes' PROCESS macro in SPSS to carry out a moderation analysis. I have two dummy variables (IV1 and IV2), one moderator variable (W) and one DV (Y).
As the dialog box does not allow for two IVs to be entered together, I have tried to use a work-around whereby IV1 is entered in the IV box and IV2 is entered in the covariate box. The issue with this is that it only provides one interaction term output (IV1 x W). I also need IV2 x W. Therefore, I have re-run the analysis switching the positions of IV1 and IV2 and this gives me the output for IV2 x W however, the output figures do not match the first output (for the main and overall effects).
Is this difference expected? Am I running the analysis correctly or is there another model I should be using?

Dear all,
I am having some issues with the multiple peak fitting function in Origin (2018). My workflow is as follows:
  • My data are baseline corrected and normalized between 0 and 1 after exporting from the measurement software
  • I import the text data (2 columns - Wavenumber and Peak intensity) into Origin
  • I click the line chart symbol
  • I edit its Y-scale between 0 and 1
  • I choose Analysis - Multiple Peak Fitting - Open Dialog
  • I choose my wavenumber limits and click ok
  • I select the 2 peaks that I am interested in
  • The fitting window opens
  • A good fit is obtained, showing the 2 fitted peaks, report sheets are created
  • I add an extra sheet to the workbook and copy - paste (as links) the data that I am interested in from the repo- - - - - rt pages into this new sheet
  • This procedure I then save as an analysis template (as explained in one of your tutorial videos)
So far everything works OK.
Now I would like to run this analysis template on multiple similar data files.
I choose File > Batch processing > Select the template that was just saved > Load files > Edit configuration > Press OK
The batch process runs correctly and I get an output file with my results.
Unfortunately the results are different (and worse) than when I do them file by file. The problem is that the fitted peaks now go below 0 (although all my data are normalized between 0 and 1. In the manual processing workflow I could adjust the Y scale on the chart before starting the fitting and then this problem did not occur... The file in attachment shows a fitting in batch processing mode.
I checked all possible settings in the Multiple Peak fitting dialog and checked several manuals and instruction videos, but can't really find anything for the moment.
Does anyone know a way to force this fitting between intensities from 0 to 1 (or just limited by file limits) in Batch processing mode?

Select Gadgets: Integrate from the Origin menu when the graph window is active, to bring up the Integrate: addtool_curve_integ dialog box. Go to the Baseline tab. Choose Constant Y for the Method, and then enter 2 in the Y= edit box. Click the OK button.

Ohne Eingang in die Materie ist diese Feststellung unnützlich, neben dem Thema und wertlos.
Der Einbruch der Branche Automobil ist künstlich von der Politik erzeugt. UN, EU. Elektrifizierung vom Transport ist viel zu teuer und besitzt nur Nachteile, nicht zuletzt in der Umweltbelastung. Außerdem basiert diese Politik auf falschem Vorwand, dass CO2 schädlich sei. Dies entspricht einfach nicht den Tatsachen.
Physikalische Eigenschaften von CO2 haben genau so wenig mit Kohle zu tun als Wasser mit Wasserstoff.
CO2 ist für die Pflanzenwelt, der Erzeugung von O2 und Wuchs von Lebensmittel unbedingt erforderlich. Der Anteil am Anstieg der Erdtemperatur liegt unter dem messbaren Bereich mit 0,0004 Anteil der Atmosphäre in Bodennähe und weit weniger in großen Höhen. CO2 wiegt 1.5 Mal mehr als Luft und bleibt in Bodennähe wo es gebraucht wird. Es ist eine unsichtbares Gas und ein Teil vom Naturzyklus.
Historisch liegt CO2 zurzeit an ihrem Minimum.
Es ist klar dass diese Antwort von Ihrem Grundthema abweicht, aber Obiges ist grundsätzlich richtig und sollte der Allgemeinheit bekannt gemacht werden. Leider sind die jetzigen Politiker gegen die Verbreitung solcher Gedanken und Bekanntmachungen. Ein Grund zur Richtungswende.

Thanks Leandro França for the answer. I too speak from experience. SpatialLite is certainly more friubile and interchangeable and is suitable for normal users, is not comparable to systems that run on servers but allows you to use the same properties of the SQL language. Compared to the Geopackage, at the moment it is more stable.

I am modeling Boiling in a vertical tube in Fluent 14.the model that i used is RPI  model.after setting up, I faced this message:
'Divergence detected in AMG solver"
Temporarily relaxing and trying again...
I've decreased URFs, changed stablization method,changed cycle type from F-cycle to W-cycle and flexibe in advanced solution controls dialog box. But again I confronted divergency!
How can i control it? Is the mesh a factor of it? or is it affected by solution controls and methods?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

you have the reynolds problem. the mesh is not compatible fo your simulation. the relaxation factor is just a coefficient which accelerates the convergency or divergency. the answer will not change by different relaxation factors.

Hello! First of all, my field is NOT statistics!
I'm working on my thesis about travel preferences and risk perception taking Colombia as a case study.
My hypothesis being there is a relationship between risk perception and demographics, tourist role, past travel experience and tourist role (as found in similar studies).
I'm using Kruskall-Wallis test since my data are not nomally distributed but I fail to reject any hypothesis.
Is there a difference if I run the test via Independent samples vs Legacy Dialogs > K independent samples? If I run the test via "Independent Samples" I have the result telling me I can't reject the hypothesis, so I don't know if I still should look for the mean rank (since my data have different shape too).
If I should look at it still, what is the interpretation? I have attached one of the results I get for risk perception (measured via Likert scale from 1 to 5) and tourist role (nominal data with 4 possible answers).

In a survey, I asked:
Q "which do you prefer?" Choose one only
A Yellow, red, green
106 people chose yellow
50 people chose red
13 people chose green.
I want to know if the difference between these scores (converted to %) is significant. I have run a chi sq (after watching a tutorial) but I'm not sure how to interpret the results. Or if I need to run another test? It looks like the difference between the scores is significant. Assuming this is the correct test for this data, does that mean I can say "participants prefer yellow". Can I say anything about the other colours (eg, green is the least preferred?). I've changed the content as my real survey question is quite long!

We often measure nominal variables, we are concerned not with HOW MUCH, but with HOW MANY or HOW OFTEN which produces frequency counts rather than scores.
So, you correctly chose Chi-square test. Students´ color preferences is the dependent variable and the three different colors (Yellow, red, and green) the independent variable.
According to the results obtained there is a significant relationship between color and students preference.
How to interpret y our results? Well, it depends on the type of subjects you selected for your study. For example, you can say that since they are children, perhaps that is the cause of their preference. But what happens if they are adults, if there are more males or females, or viceversa, the context of situation, the activity they were doing. etc. In other words, you have to make your point according to the what you are trying to research.

I have problem on my normality test. I used non paremetric test > legacy dialogs > 1 sampel ks, and has non normal distribution. But wtih another version SPSS and use the same data, and method has different result, which is normal distribution. Is it possible with different version of spss, can have different result?

Dear Yan, it is true that SPSS sometimes changes it algorithms in different versions. You should check out the user and IBM forums for more information on this.
In terms of normality testing, if your sample size is less than about 1000 to 2000 the Shapiro Will test is generally recognised as being more sensitive. Use Analyze > Descriptive statistics > Explore, add your variable as the Dependent, click on Plots... and select Normality plots with tests. This will also give you a histogram, QQ plots and measures of skewness and kurtosis along with their standard errors.

The dialogical or dialectical approach seems to be the most promising one to argumentation theory. But I cannot find any actual dialogue systems that apply the models, I read so much about. I am referring to an software application of Walton and Krabbe's dialogue types or a system that applies Pragma-dialectics or Hamblin's "formal dialectic" or anything that comes close.

Hello,
I need to know how to use an output data (temperature in this case) from a previous job as a initial PredefinedField in next job in Abaqus. I need to do it 400 times, so I'm doing it with a Python Script.
I don't have too much Python knowledge so what I do is to work from the GUI, and then take the script from the .jnl that Abaqus automatically do when you save.
I'm doing these steps:
1. Go to the Load module and choose "Predefined Field --> Create".
2. In the "Create Predefined Field" dialog box, choose the "Initial" step, and the radio button for the "Other" category. In the list to the right, choose "Temperature."
3. You will be propted to select the regions of the model. You should choose the geometry shared between the two analysis where you have temperature data you want to import.
4. In the "Edit Predefined Field" dialog box, in the "Distribution" drop down list, choose "From results or output database file." The dialog box will then change giving you a place to select the odb file from the first analysis. You'll then be able to select any saved step or increment from the first thermal analysis to import, as well as define mesh interpolation properties in case the meshes in the the two anaysis are different.
The line that I get from the .jnl doesn't specify the regions that I chose, and I think that is the problem. The line from the .jnl is this one:

Or maybe I have to save the temperature somehow I can then use it from an other job.

Perform the operation through ABAQUS GUI and investigate the generated .jnl files for python scripting assistance.
You have to perform the heat transfer analysis first and record the nodal temperatures of the model in the output database file for each timestep. Then use this odb file as the temperature field to your static analysis. Check that total time of the step, time increments and mesh of the model in both analyses are compatible.
