The pattern and design of Military dresses across nations are different, what are the factors that contributes to decide the camouflage design on their dresses?
Relevant answer
Answer
Rohit, The link below is to "Camopedia" a
database referencing all of the major military and paramilitary camouflage patterns that have been in use around the world since the beginning of the 20th century. You navigate by clicking on name and a country flag. In addition, the early work was based on patterns in nature. Today we supplement that with digital image analysis. You can look up "stealth" air and navel design. Military uniforms and ground camouflage now include digital complex geometric patterns. Current research is using AL to develop new shapes and designs. If you're learning how to make and apply camouflage or analyze / study it I recommend leaning about patterns in the natural world. Link below:

I would like to have some more information for primer design for tRNA's, miRNAs and other sncRNAs.
I have used sRNAPrimerDB and mirPrimer ( for miRNA) before - are these reliable sources?
Any more reliable websites for designing primers?
Do you still follow the same rules as longer primer design ie checking melting temperatures and GC content ect?
Do you have to change your primer design depending on what assay you are dealing with - Taqman ( Stem loop) / probe/Sybr methods (mature miRNA)?
Any information you have on this will be helpful :)

I actually designed that structure but after designing I got some undesired 2D radiation pattern like null in theta= 0 degree. But when I feed it from one end then that gives proper radiation pattern like highest peak at theta @ zero degree. why it is happening?
Relevant answer
Answer
If you feed it using an H-plane T then both arms will be in phase. If you feed it using an E-plane T the arms will be out of phase with each other, which will give a null on boresight.

Designing business information systems refers to the process of creating, developing and implementing information technology solutions to support the operations and management of an organization. This involves identifying business requirements, selecting and integrating appropriate hardware and software components, and creating systems to support key business processes such as financial management, human resources management, customer relationship management, and supply chain management. The importance of designing business information systems lies in their ability to support and improve key business operations and decision-making processes. A well-designed information system can provide an organization with real-time information about its operations, enabling it to respond quickly and effectively to changing business conditions. Information systems can also automate manual processes, reducing the risk of errors and increasing efficiency. By integrating data from various departments, an information system can provide a centralized and up-to-date view of the organization, helping management make informed decisions. In today's fast-paced and competitive business environment, having an effective and efficient information system is critical for organizations to remain competitive and achieve their goals. A well-designed information system can give organizations a strategic advantage by providing real-time information, automating processes, and enabling faster and more informed decision-making.

Dear doctor
I chose the following paragraphs from a worthy study conducted by Gomez et al. (2010) and do hope of getting interest.
"ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) have been  generally oriented towards  big  companies, however, recently ERP designers are looking for extending the market. Therefore they  are taking into consideration the PYMES sector and they  are using successful strategies to  catch  that  market, as  for example  the  developing of systems  with some of the following  characteristics:
· Lower license cost
· Lower implementation cost
· Compatibility between systems
· Less  consulting requirements in the  implementation phase
· Software with open code
· Vertical growing
Next  the foreseeable trends  of the  information  systems  for the  management  of companies  and  what  the advisor forecasts  to launch to the market. What is the direction in the evolution of the ERP systems, what  new functionalities  will  contemplate, what  challenges  must surpass  to  achieve a correct  evolution of the  companies in  the recently changing environments. These trends  can be classified in two types, the functional  tendencies and the technical trends.
Some of the functionalities that the new ERP can  absorbed or that at least can integrate with others  information systems are:
· SCM: Supply Chain Management
· CRM: Customer Relationship Management
· PLM: Product Lifecycle Management
· DW: Data Warehouse
· SRM: Supplier Relationship Management
· BSC: Balance scorecard
· KMS: Knowledge Management System
· BI Business Intelligence
· POS: Point of Sales
Technical Trends:
Related with the actual technical trends, it  is  possible to highlight the followings:
· Open software
· Hosting of Applications Service Providers
· mCommerce
Recently there is  a trend to the use of free software, in other words, open and gratuitous  code in different scopes. This trend is starting to  take part in the information systems for company  management . These days it is possible to find  in Spain a software called Openbravo, which has  these characteristics  and it  is  starting to get  an  important  portion of the market. However, this  trend is still very weak and it seems  not  to be strong enough. Nevertheless, this tendency must be carefully considered. It  is  important  not  to  forget the recent closing of “Encarta”, the digital  encyclopedia of Microsoft, due to the appearance of a free software encyclopedia, “Wikipedia”, which won the battle. The second technical trend, the Hosting of Applications  Service Providers, is  a common  activity  these days, since there are several  companies  that  are dedicated “to lodge” management  systems, which  can  be used  by  companies  through high speed  internet  or some network  connections  [12]. These supplier companies  cover both the software and the hardware maintenance, and the updates, security, etc.  of the applications. All this, allows  companies  to reduce the work load and  some costs  from different  natures, and it  also  allows  them to focus in their Core Business. The mcommerce is  one of the technical  tendencies, that  as  well as  modifying the conception of the information systems, it  can  modify the form to make businesses  as the way  of those are known at  present. The mobile technology is a new communication channel that  allows companies and people to be connected and  access to Internet whenever, regardless the place, date and hour.
CONCLUSIONS: The information systems  and his  application  company management  have evolved constantly, and these have been continuously adapted to the market  requirement  and to the new emerging  technologies. These software applications  have become, from small programs into big one just in  few years. Initially these programs were designed  for running accounting applications  but recently  the ERP are able to  manage all  the  information  that  the  company needs, even  internally as  externally. In  the last years, there have been  incorporated  new advances to these systems. In one had there are the functional advances, which cover new  areas of the company, as for example the balance scorecard, knowledge management, CRM, e commerce, etc.  In  the  other hand, there is  also  incorporated new techniques and technologies as  the object  oriented programming, new  architectural systems  and new languages  and  programming structures. Recently, the  information systems  for company  management  are continuing evolving, and the foresee trends  includes  both technical and  functional improvements. In the functional trend  it  will be incorporate new features, and also it  will improve and optimize current features as the SCM, PLM (Product  Lifecycle Management), CRM (Customer Relationship  Management)  , DW (Data Warehouse), BSC (Balance Scorecard), KMS (Knowledge Management  System), BI (Business Intelligence), POS (Point  of Sale), etc. Related with the technical trend it  will be important the emerging of the ASP, open  software and the ecommerce .The m commerce is  one of the  more incipient  trend and these tendencies  could greatly modify some processes  from companies. Through  this  communication  way, the  company management  could be available for users regardless  the  day, hour and  place. But in order to this to be possible, it is necessary  that  information systems will be adapted to the needs  of mobile devices, and for that  it  is  important  to  consider several  factors, as  for example the interaction between these devices  with  people. However, already  solved  this  and  other small existing problems, it is possible to say  that nowadays the current technology has reached  a level, in  which it  is  possible starting this  new  communication channel, making  it finally  possible, and with everything what  it  can  suppose. Therefore, companies  could start  preparing themselves  to operate this  new  tools, and to optimize their resources  and processes  through it."

Hello everyone.
I wanna investigate the flow properties within the organic parts of the human body. I'd greatly appreciate your guidance on how to effectively model this in a 3D CAD tool. Are there any specific software recommendations for this purpose? I'm particularly interested in designing the lungs and heart from scratch.
Additionally, I'm curious if it's feasible to extract information from alternative sources like MRI or other data. Can anyone shed light on this aspect? If anyone could assist me in locating a solid model for my project, I would be immensely grateful.
Thank you all in advance.
Relevant answer
Answer
There are generic solid anatomical models available from companies like Zygote 3D (see https://www.zygote.com/cad-models ). Of course these represent the heart at only one phase of the cardiac cycle.
To capture the motion of the heart, you will need a gated CTA scan (CT angiography triggered by an ECG to capture different phases). To get the STL (mesh) files described by Seyed Mohammad Mousavi you will need to segment the structures of interest with a software like Mimics or 3D Slicer. Then you will need to clean them up and surface them (e.g. with NURBS) to export STEP or other solid model format that you can import into your simulation software. You can use software such as Geomagic, Rhino or MeshMixer for cleanup and export of STEP files.

Dear Researchers,
What are the different methods to calculate each parameters in AC conductivity and DC conductivity. Which method is the best method to find resistance and conductivity of thin film. Can we calculate capacitance, impedance, dielectric constants of thin film by the same method of designing circuits.
Relevant answer
Answer
I think that there is an essential difference between them. DC conductivity arises from the the random fluctuation motions of the free charge carriers and its net value is very small at room temperature. While on the other hand, AC conductivity arises from hoping of free carriers from site to site upon applying an electric field and thus its net value is much higher than that of DC conductivity.

Question

We are designing the test where we will select a specific bacteria from different samples and we will seek to find this bacteria with the characteristics that we are looking for (genes), it will be evaluated by biosafety tests, sequencing, etc. (If it is safe and has the gene, it is classified as apt, otherwise it is discarded ).
We have several variation factors such as the type of samples (food, environmental, feces), culture conditions (aerobic & anerobic) and media (2 different). The number of isolates will be equally distributed according to the combination of each factor.
I have searched the literature and have not found a statistical test for qualitative variables that can help me to determine the sample size.
The closest method that I have found is where I should search for similar studies to determine the probability of finding the desired characteristic and from there estimate the sample size. Although I'm not sure if it's the best method.
Relevant answer
Answer
Determining the sample size for a qualitative variable (such as apt or not) will depend on several factors, including the research question, the desired level of precision, and the expected variability in the data. Here are some general steps that you could take to estimate an appropriate sample size:
  1. Determine the desired level of precision: The level of precision refers to the margin of error that you are willing to tolerate in your estimate of the proportion of apt individuals. For example, you may want to estimate this proportion with a margin of error of ±5 percentage points. The desired level of precision will influence the sample size calculation.
  2. Determine the expected proportion: You will need to have an estimate of the proportion of individuals who are apt in the population you are studying. If this proportion is unknown, you can use a pilot study or previous research to make an educated guess. Alternatively, you could use a conservative estimate of 0.5, which would yield the largest sample size.
  3. Use a sample size calculator: Several online sample size calculators can be used to estimate the sample size needed to achieve the desired level of precision for a binary outcome. One commonly used formula for calculating the sample size is:
n = (Z^2 * p * (1-p)) / E^2
Where:
  • n = sample size needed
  • Z = the Z-value associated with the desired level of confidence (e.g., 1.96 for a 95% confidence interval)
  • p = the expected proportion of apt individuals
  • E = the desired margin of error
For example, if you expect the proportion of individuals who are apt to be 0.6, and you want a margin of error of ±5 percentage points with a 95% confidence interval, the sample size calculation would be:
n = (1.96^2 * 0.6 * (1-0.6)) / 0.05^2 n = 368
Therefore, you would need a sample size of 368 individuals to achieve the desired level of precision.
It is important to note that these sample size calculations assume a simple random sampling design and certain assumptions about the population distribution. Depending on the research question and study design, different sample size calculations or sampling methods may be more appropriate.

I am designing a moderated mediation model (Hayes' Model 7). I want to use a 5-point Likert scale as a moderator variable in my model. Will this cause a problem? Or do I need to make an adjustment to use a continuous variable as a moderator? Because in some sources it is stated that the continuous variable should be made categorical. Thank you very much in advance for your answers.
Relevant answer
Answer
Hello Erdi,
Moderation simply implies that there is an interactive effect of a target IV with a supposed moderating variable. Nothing about this requires that the moderating variable be discrete/categorical, or continuous in form.
However, ordinal scales require the most arithmetic, as you can't presume a strictly linear function as you can when a variable is either dichotomous or continuous.
For your situation, the test of the interaction hypothesis could be evaluated by inserting 4 dummy coded variables for the moderator, and the product of each of these with the IV as the actual information for the presence/absence of interaction. So the test for interaction would minimally be a 4 df effect (more if the IV was categorical and had more than two levels).
Good luck with your work.

Answer
Mahmut Ferit Aydin Mahmut, Not only are there are some….but there’s entire cultures who are more generous in avoiding such strict segregation (an either or) visually normal people from others.
I’m struggling to understand the assumption you make that there are only two; that is visually “normal” or visually impaired artists and designers. In my experience vision is made of physical, emotional, intellectual and “soulful” components. Together they form how we see and, in this context, how artists and designers strive to learn to “see”. In essence, I recommend (1) looking at vision as a continuous spectrum with each from their unique insights making contributions to art & design (2) not describing (only) one part of the visual spectrum as worthy of recognition for what it contributes to society. Oh, by the way, until we tested the vision of our children we thought they were intellectually impaired. Not simply in need of glasses. Same with the elderly!!!

I see all the above replies have mentioned nature factors, so I wouldn't repeat them. In addition, if starting with the term "designing", the first thing I would consider is the function of the space: (1) what kind of activities to happen in the space and (2) if the space is capable of those functions (with all of it nature characteristics). Only after that we can do or ask the next questions.

We are using the CST Studio Suite 2022 version. We are working on the Antennas - Time Domain section. The results we expect to obtain do not actually correspond to the simulation results.
CASE STUDY: We created the design of an antenna fed through two ports (PORT 1 and PORT 2). A DEFAULT signal is given as input for each port, the signal enters port 1 with phase 0° and the signal enters port 2  with phase 90°. By studying the Farfield at a given frequency we expect to obtain a Circular Polarization. The result we get is a linear polarization. That's very weird. We ask for technical support on this issue.
Relevant answer
Answer
You haven't answered my implied question, but I think you have said that the fields, in the same simulation, to the two identical linearly polarized antennas, are 90 degrees out of phase, as shown by the fields on the feed lines and ports.
Also, I think that you have said this:
The two antennas are 90 degrees rotated in space, and both the same distance along the axis pointing in the direction of the antenna beam, which is also the axis the rotation angle is measured about.
I can't see what can be going wrong.
Do the two antennas have the same aperture, or are they side-by-side. If they share an aperture, then the electric field directly in front of the aperture should be circularly polarized, too, and you should be able to see it rotating in the field monitor. The same is true of the magnetic field.
What is the antenna that you are modelling? Is it a waveguide antenna? Is there a built-in lag of 90 degrees already in the antenna, so that your extra 90 degrees puts it back to linear polarization?

How do we go about designing the water treatment plant and what are the basic things we need to consider in to design WTP
Relevant answer
  1. Elevation: The elevation of the water source and the treatment plant determines the amount of energy required to transport the water and the type of pumping system needed. The location of the plant should be chosen based on the availability of a reliable water source and the elevation of the source relative to the plant.
  2. Slope: The slope of the land can affect the flow of water and the design of the treatment processes. For example, if the water source is on a steep slope, sedimentation basins may be required to remove large particles before treatment.
  3. Drainage: The drainage patterns of the surrounding land can affect the potential for flooding and the management of stormwater runoff. The design of the plant should take into account the drainage patterns of the surrounding area to ensure that the plant is not vulnerable to flooding or contamination.
  4. Soil type: The type of soil on which the plant is built can affect the stability of the plant and the effectiveness of treatment processes. For example, clay soils may be more prone to settling, which can affect the operation of sedimentation basins.
  5. Land use: The surrounding land use can affect the potential for contamination of the water source. The design of the plant should take into account the potential sources of contamination and incorporate measures to protect the water source.
To determine the capacity of the plant, the following factors are typically considered:
  1. Demand: The demand for water in the surrounding area will determine the size of the plant required. The plant should be designed to meet the peak demand for water, which can be estimated based on population growth projections and historical water usage data.
  2. Water quality: The quality of the water source will affect the treatment processes required and the capacity of the plant. Water with high levels of contaminants or sediment may require additional treatment processes, which can reduce the capacity of the plant.
  3. Treatment processes: The type and number of treatment processes required will affect the capacity of the plant. For example, adding additional treatment processes to remove specific contaminants may require additional space and equipment, which can reduce the capacity of the plant.
  4. Future expansion: The design of the plant should take into account the potential for future expansion to ensure that the plant can meet the future demand for water.

What challenges and use cases are associated with designing an optimization xApp for O-RAN?
In O-RAN (Open RAN), xApp communicates with RIC (Radio Intelligence Controller) to impose policies on the radio access network (RAN). The RIC is responsible for managing and coordinating the DUs (Distributed Units) and RUs (Radio Units) in the RAN. The workflow for this process is as follows:
  1. xApp generates and sends a policy to the RIC.
  2. The RIC receives the policy and translates it into a series of commands.
  3. The RIC sends the commands to the relevant DUs and RUs.
  4. The DUs and RUs execute the commands and update their configurations accordingly.
  5. The RIC monitors the status of the DUs and RUs and reports back to the xApp.
  6. The xApp has access to the status of the DUs and RUs and can make updates to the policies based on the received status.
In this way, xApp has access to both DU and RU activities through the RIC. The RIC acts as an intermediary between xApp and the DUs and RUs, ensuring that policies are applied consistently and effectively across the RAN.
The Question is How can we read and check the xApp activities? its inside the RIC or logged in CU DU?

Building habitable structures on water is an interesting concept that has been explored in various ways, from floating homes to entire cities built on water. While there are many engineering and environmental challenges to consider when building on water, there are also many potential benefits, such as the ability to utilize the vast space of the oceans and reduce the pressure on land-based resources. In my opinion, a potential way to power these structures is by the use of hydroelectric turbines located under the structures(buildings) themselves, though the engineering challenges of designing such systems would need to be carefully considered.
Currently yet to develop a graphical representation of how these structures would look like.

I need a papers about designing MOF for capturing CO. I searched so much about it but i don't have any idea how i should start.
Relevant answer
Answer
Designing a MOF for capturing CO involves several steps. Here is a general overview of the process:
  1. Identify a metal ion that can form a stable complex with CO. Metal ions such as Zn2+, Cu2+, and Ni2+ are commonly used in MOFs for CO capture.
  2. Select an organic linker that can coordinate with the metal ion and also bind to CO. Common linkers used in MOFs for CO capture include imidazole and pyrazine.
  3. Synthesize the MOF using a suitable method such as solvothermal or hydrothermal synthesis. This method allows for the formation of the MOF crystal structure.
  4. Characterize the MOF using techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms to determine its crystal structure, surface area, and pore size.
  5. Evaluate the CO uptake and release properties of the MOF using techniques such as volumetric adsorption or gas chromatography.
  6. Optimize the MOF structure by modifying the metal ion or linker to improve its CO capture properties.
  7. Test the MOF's stability and recycling performance under different conditions, such as varying temperatures, pressures and humidities.
Please note that this is a general overview of designing a MOF for capturing CO. A more detailed study of the literature is required to design specific MOFs.

I'm designing a diagnostic qPCR triplex assay for three parasitic species and have this weird weird thing that keeps happening where I test my assays in singleplex and they're specific but then in triplex one of them isn't. I have done every possible BLAST and bioinformatic analysis to verify that the assay isn't cross amplifying, so I'm certain it's not a specificity issue. There's no genomic explanation and I've also contacted both ThermoFisher (the maker of the machine) and IDT (where we get our primers) and they said there was nothing that should be causing this problem.
The three probes I'm using are FAM, VIC, and TAMRA - recommended by a ThermoFisher rep and our machines are calibrated for all of these (I've seen this weird thing happen on multiple machines). The VIC assay is picking up the FAM target at almost the exact same Cq values as the FAM assay is picking up the FAM target. To me, that means the two species would have to be present in equal parts in the sample and it's not just a contamination problem since I'm putting in just one species' DNA in each well. The VIC assay still picks up the VIC target, but LATER than it picks up the FAM target. So apparently the VIC assay is picking up a completely unrelated species far better than it's own target species?? I think not.
I've done so much to verify that it's not a specificity issue, including running the VIC assay in singleplex with the FAM target DNA and only two wells of a positive control to make sure the qPCR worked - it showed absolutely no amplification in any of the FAM target wells. My NTC wells are always negative and my positive controls always work. I've reached out to anyone I can think of for help because I don't know what on earth is going on and no one has been able to give me even any possibilities. I have this weird feeling it's something with the settings on the StepOne Plus, but I'm not sure what.
Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Or does anyone have suggestions of other things to try?

With an expectation that machine-readable tables of structured experimental data add research value.
The ASCII smaller text set null character is an escape zero “\0” or 0x00 digital hash.
The full Unicode character set is consistent as linked to binary and contains a null character where null is U+0000 with symbol U+2400 (and is used as a string terminator in the C programming language).
Given digital information can be of different types (such as string or numeric among others), and that the value of zero is not null, still previous and active sentinel null character representations include the “-9999” and “NA”. Yet a control character requires a unique binary hash designation to be consistently stable. I have recently seen regular non-standard data error values returned including, “NAN”, “ERR”, and “INF”, among others (Excel has a #NAME? construct, and there is the SQL regular NULL). Software de facto handles data type and memory allocation because each data element type is comprehended into different memory configurations and sizes at run time.
In Python, the generic data object type is None or a NoneType, where the included 1985 standard numerical IEEE 754 floating-point representation is NaN.
In NumPy, the typical np.nan provides for the None, including the positive and negative infinity, and the not a number designations.
NumPy is the basis for the Pandas DataFrame None representation, which automatically converts across the object and number (until a native Pandas Null emerges).
Relevant answer
Answer
When you group data in SQL, when you see the number “-9999”, you understand that this is an error in the data or they were not recorded. I immediately realized this when I worked with data on cotton and guayule(Matthew and Bronson).

Hence the question.
Relevant answer
Answer
I agree generally with Nick Gee and would like to make a few more points.
Typically when one is screening a generic compound library for noncovalent inhibitors, the potency of the inhibitors is expected to be pretty weak. Such weak inhibitors (assuming they are specific inhibitors, see below) are expected to be in rapid equilibrium with the target enzyme, so there is no need to preincubate. An exception would be if you are screening a set of compounds that are expected to contain slow-binding inhibitors, which might be the case if the compounds in the screen are related to known slow-binding inhibitors of the enzyme. (A second exception would be if you are screening a set of compounds that are supposed to be covalent inhibitors, since their potency is time-dependent, as Nick Gee said.)
Time-dependence of inhibition is one typical characteristic of non-specific inhibitors such as aggregators or reactive contaminants of compound samples. Therefore, a test for such undesirable modes of inhibition is to compare the potency of the inhibitor sample at different times of the reaction, or with and without preincubation followed by a short reaction time. This test would, of course, not be done during the initial screen but could constitute part of the hit follow-up.

More specifically, does the order of the questions need to be completely randomized or is it generally allowed to still ask questions in topic blocks according to potential factors/constructs I have in mind?

Answer
A randomized order of items can have the advantage that it may prevent response styles (such as saying "yes" to every item, skipping items, other careless response styles). When items are arranged according to topic/same attribute, participants may get bored and employ a careless response style, especially when the items are similarly worded. They may also find it easier to figure out what attributes you are trying to measure, which may or may not be desirable for your study.
