Questions related to Delinquency
I am about to write an essay in relation to the social theory bong and how can this explain delinquency. I have read some reviewed articles and books by D.W. Winnicott (Deprivation and delinquency) and Hirschi Travis (Causes of delinquency).
So I was looking for more to be able to cover this theory better.
Dear all:
I am going to examine the psychometrics of a youth psychopathic measure in a sample of youth sexual offenders. Meanwhile, I am also interested in examining how youth psychopathic traits predict their sexual offense behavior (or risk of future sexual offenses). Due to several limitations, I can only use self-report measures. Does anyone know a self-report measure to assess youth sexual offenses? or the risks of future sexual offenses?
Hi,
I am analysing antisocial behaviour in childhood, and it's later effect on drug use, along other predictors, such as prosocial behaviours and maternal drug use during pregnancy.
When discussing possible approaches to this, it was suggested that I use latent trait approaches.
While I have an Idea of observable and non-observable constructs, I do not quite see how this would apply. Is there something, which I am missing?
Just to clarify: I am using an already collected dataset.
The measures, which I would use for Antisocial Behaviour, some of which are separate questionnaires.
- Items measuring aggression and oppositionality (with a mean score) and items measuring prosocial behaviour (mean score), which typically comprise a whole scale
- A delinquency scale, on which children had to respond with yes/no (e.g. have you cheated at school - y/n).
- Impulsivity (two items, which are part of another scale)
I developed a stand-alone, self-report scale to assess social desirability/ positive impression management in juvenile delinquents being evaluated for legal disposition purposes. Based on very preliminary, small sample size field testing, this scale was found to have high correlations with other scales, e.g., the Defensiveness scale of the Personality Inventory for Youth, the Denial Scale of the Jesness Inventory-Revised, and moderate, inverse correlations with scales such as the Externalizing, Rule-Breaking, Anxious/Depressed scales on the Youth Self-Report. Does anyone have the interest and resources to field test this measure with larger samples to examine convergent and discriminant associations?

I want to find out the self report measure used on mothers and sons in this study.
I have a data set with 2M records of customer level data, the 200+ variables in the data set consist of demographic information, financial attributes (loan-to-value ratios, debt-to-income ratios, number of delinquencies, etc), and a column with the product type purchased (one product type tag per customer). There are a total of 5 distinct product types. I want to calculate a 'propensity score' of how likely each customer is to purchase a single product type. Basically I need to create five columns that each have a specific 'product type' propensity score for each customer. The propensity score is a probability but reported on a 300-850 range much similar to the credit score models that output default probabilities that way.
My question is, what is the best way to approach this problem and what algorithm will be best suited for this? Since my data tags are not binary, logistic regression will not be an option. I would appreciate any detail on this problem.
Thank you all in advance...
Would love to have supporting research articles and scoring instructions.
I am doing some research in profiling such farmers through interaction with their families and using some other qualitative research techniques in Punjab. Through this I aspire to build a prediction model for financial institutions or other credit agencies so that they could identify the high risk profiles and reduce delinquency and also discourage unproductive borrowings. If any similar work has been undertaken or some model is being used by credit agencies then I would be glad to know about them.
Interested in cancer, HIV, trauma, or other populations. All ideas welcome.
Basically i want to use this scale (SRD) for the measurement of delinquent behaviour in juvenile delinquents, but unfortunately am not able to assess the norms or manual of above said scale.
I need to find a standardized questionnaire on the role of family factors on juvenile delinquency !!
I'm interested for the results of ISRD study related to children at risk for antisocial/criminal behavior. I would like to estimate the number of children at risk in Bosnia and Herzegovina on national sample, using the ISRD 3 data base. Also, I would like to measure risk intensity and predict probability of criminal behavior.
Thank you for any help you could provide!
I really need it for my research. Hope you guys help me to figure it out.
I really need it for my thesis because I'm wondering about the instrument about Delinquent Behavior for child.
In 2010, an 11-year-old boy was charged with homicide like adults. In some other times, pre-teen or teen killers were tried as delinquents. Recently, two teens beat a woman to death, and the case has become controversial as to whether these teens should be tried as juveniles or adults. What would be your decision? I'd appreciate your opinions.
Why are juveniles committing more violent crimes? What theory can best explain why are juveniles choosing to commit a crime?
I'm completing a lit review that defines the relational risks to delinquent youth and postulating that mentoring is a desirable intervention to mitigate societal risks and risks to the youth.
For measuring delinquent behavior in adolescents, who already in observation home..!!
Looking at disproportionate minority contact of juveniles.
There is some research in school but I don't find research out of school. I am most interesting in French research but I think a part Sebastian Roche one the isn't anymore.
Looking to build on the work done by Nofziger (2008) and Boutwell and Beaver (2010).
Are there any articles that can help with the connection between learning disabilities and juvenile delinquency
We will be developing a family system therapy approach in Vietnam for families that include grandparents, aunts and uncles living in close proximity.
I am researching the topic and I would like to know more opinions on that subject.
I am estimating effects of parental self-control on adolescent delinquency using cross-sectional data. I need to explore the possibility that adolescent delinquency may influence parental self-control, and am attempting to identify whether there are any existing studies that find meaningful influences of adolescent behavior on parental self-control and/or parental personality traits. I am aware of the 'child-effects' literature - that child behavior can influence parenting practices and parental warmth/attachment, but wonder whether this line of research has extended to child effects on parental personality/traits.
I am not sure about this phenomenon.
In terms of nature and severity of behaviour - what role or variance can be accounted by gender - i.e. predict and/or conclude or warrant a typology of behaivours?
In the 1970s and 1980s there was a huge debate about visual deficits in adolescents and how this visual impairment is associated with criminal behavior (Bachara & Zaba, 1978; Broder et al., 1981; Clack, 1990; Lane, 1980; McKay & Brumback, 1980; Zinkus & Gottlieb, 1978). Vision trainings were established to reduce recidivism (Berman, 1989). Learning disabilities, specifically reading problems, could exclude children from further participating in social interactions and subsequently lead to frustrations and feelings of exclusion (Dzik, 1966; Dzik, 1975; Slaton & Jorgensen, 1958). Delinquent behavior and visual impairments are, on the other hand, very common in patients with schizophrenia.
Are there any overlapping arguments between the two lines: Visual impairments leading to delinquency; Visual impairments leading to schizophrenia?
