I had completed MSC in Construction Management just at the end of 2022 A.D. I had 2 research articles relating to the construction aggregates and the social issues related to the crusher influenced area of locals. I am looking for the right university of abroad for perusing my PHD degree in the field of civil engineering. I have keen research interest in the field of construction project management, transportation engineering, geo technical engineering and structural engineering.
What are the main items for proper due diligence, when dealing with special purpose vehicles or SPVs for construction projects?
What are the main steps for effective due diligence of an SPV to be created for a construction project?
''Managing the benefits and barriers to the adoption of offsite construction in the UK construction industry''.
I have selected the above topic for my Master's dissertation but my supervisor told me that ''a lot of research has been done on the benefits and barriers. Your research need to bring something new to this field of knowledge and it need to be far more focused''.
Can anyone please recommend me dissertation title and aim of research please
Kind Regards

Do construction professionals (especially construction managers, project managers and quantity surveyors) need environmental sustainability competencies?
Looking at how the construction activities affect the environment and yes we have environmental engineers but wouldn't it be good to have construction professionals that are also aware of the environmental impacts/issues, especially during the construction, operation and demolition phases.
Assistance will be appreciated.

I am looking for a research topic addressing sustainable Construction Project Management issues using innovative methods?
I appreciate your kind responses.
Dear Colleagues,
Construction project management is a process that includes a number of operations, activities, and decisions that are closely related to an executed investment and that aim to create new, or to increase, existing fixed assets in order to achieve utility effects. The utility effect of the construction process may be the construction of a new building, or the renovation or modernization of an existing building. In each construction process, according to the definition of the building object's life cycle, the following four basic phases are distinguished: the programming/planning phase, the implementation phase, the operation/use/maintenance phase, and the phase of decommissioning or demolition. Appropriate planning of the entire construction process is a very important operation, which has a direct impact on whether success is achieved when implementing an investment project.
The construction industry is characterized by a high complexity of implemented construction processes, variability of implementation conditions, diversity of facilities, applied technologies, and methods of work organization. The execution of construction projects is specific and particularly difficult because each implementation is a unique, complex, and dynamic process that consists of several or more subprocesses related to each other, in which various participants of the investment process take part.
Therefore, there is still a vital need to study, research, and conclude engineering technology and management applied in construction projects.
We encourage publishing applied results of research.

Dear
Pls, follow the link provided below to register to invaluable experiences in the face of COVID-19.
Public/ User participation and its importance in public infrastructure projects is being understood more and more nowadays leading to increased public/ user engagement in development of such infrastructure assets. The view of 'uninformed project user' is going away with availability of better technologies for information dissemination whether it be project specific or local area information. The inevitability of understanding/ assessing local needs to the fullest and efforts for improved transparency in the project delivery system supplement these.
Is it getting established that views of the local users have the maximum utility in enhancing the project value / bringing out maximum benefits out of the asset?
Hello everybody
I would like to link two topics, LCCA and BIM, each of which deals with "structural and earthquake engineering" and "construction management" in civil engineering, respectively.
I am trying to investigate on LCCA of a structure equipped with Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs) based on principles of Performance Based Earthquake Engineering (PBDE) for different seismic hazard levels (this issue is related to structural engineering). So I intend to use BIM to create a more realistic cost model including other costs are related to this topic.
To all the project management professionals in the United Kingdom,
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I'm currently a final year master's student at Birmingham City University doing my dissertation on the topic " An investigation of Generation Z's Project Management leadership Skills in the construction industry in the UK". It would be of great contribution for this industry if you are willing to attend my interview sessions in this month of July. I would highly appreciate it.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this. Please message me if you are interested and I would be more than happy to arrange the interview.

You are contractor of a construction project.
There is a problem. Problem is late approval of feasibility reports, work permits, drawings and materials by owner of the project.
1) How do you plan to prevent occurrence of this problem?
If your preventive actions are not successful, how do you control the consequences of this delay?
2) or What will be your mitigation measures as contractor to makeup gone time and cost ?
3) What would be if you are in owner position?
it is frequently reported that some international construction projects experiences time overrun due to delay in appointment of consultant by client. Our primary task is to prevent occurrence of this cause to prevent the arisen consequences. If the efforts were unsuccessful, mitigation measures should be taken. what are your taken prevention and mitigation suggestions?

Could any one share real time examples for Start to Finish (SF), Start to Start (SS)and Finish to Finish (FF) dependencies?
in your opinion what are the most significant contributions in relation to contingency thinking in project management? how does that theory impact project management methodologies? why is that field under explored ?
I'm planning to work on a rail project and i would love to have some prior knowledge. Any good books, research papers or general literature i might find helpful ?

Construction alliances are a form of procurement that seeks to reduce adversarial approaches to the construction process, using shared outcomes. How can opportunism of the alliance partners be reduced to the benefit of the project?
Construction field today is generally seen as a management science, but in my opinion it is supposed to be an engineering science.
This epistemological difference in attitude has much to do with construction scientists not being serious about finding a solution to this problem in an industry that is so vast and so well funded.
Even today there is no satisfactory theory to explain construction process. What do you feel?
As a prospective PhD students in Construction / Project Management, I find several PhD scholarships in fields like medicine but few or none in Built Environment. Why is this so?
Could you tell me about the factors that are needed to beware of for organisations' first step into cloud?
With regards to I'm student in construction Engineering and management, interested in Project management (exception BIM),
Thank you for your suggestions.
In your opinion, what are the most beneficial, most relevant, most applicable areas of the AEC research and practice in which Augmented, Mixed and Virtual Reality can assist, introduce significant benefits and/or facilitate major advancements/advantages?
1. 7-8 years ago, I attended a National BIM symposium/seminar in Manchester in UK where one of the speakers who was the BIM manager for a leading multinational construction company used the phrase “BIM, BAM, BOOM” in her presentation which made everyone more laugh than think.
2. Couple of years later I attended a prominent conference where someone was introduced by the Head of School of the host university as a BIM guru/leading expert in the UK despite having no direct background in [building or construction] engineering. Just a few minutes after this introduction, the BIM guru, who was reporting to the conference organising committee, failed to zoom in on a MS Excel spreadsheet as per request of one of the audience who could not see the figures simply because he didn’t know how to do it! Someone needed to go on the stage to do it for him!
3. Today BIM experts, researchers and policy makers who have got no idea about the paradigmatic differences between BIM and what it has succeeded are in abundance.
4. We hear/see/feel/sense/witness that BIM has not been able to deliver its promise and this is somewhat evidenced by the feedback we receive from the industry.
My question is: ”Has BIM really outlived its true value/promise or is it suffering from being bastardised (sorry this is not an F-word but quite an academic term) and subject to misuse/abuse as a result of our misunderstandings or lack of complete picture it entails?”
Please join me in this open discussion with your opinions, stories and experiences on this topic.

I just wonder if someone comes across a paper about the difference of public attitude in regards the output of public construction projects, whether it is different in tax-free countries compare to the taxed countries? in other words, would people in taxed countries be more demanding in regarding finishing projects on time and on cost as they feel the pay for that projects. compare to the tax-free countries where they would feel they did not pay for the project
Thank you
In which phase [Initiation, Planning/Design Phase, Execution and Closing] of a project, project appraisal is conducted to accept or reject a project?
Can negotiation over costing be equated to collaboration in practice? if not, what's true collaboration should be on costing process? and where does collaborative costing stops and collusion begins?
The rationale is to understand the boundary between people working together to build a cost and the ones working to fix/negotiate a cost, can it be equated as the same? what's the good thing and what's the bad thing here?
Dear All, we are doing project on Development of Model using Lean Construction Technique for minimising construction waste. for that we had frame a questionnaire so I request you please give your remark on questionnaire
I am keen to find out personal opinions and experience on. ‘At what stage of a construction project sees the most waste being produced as a result of bad decision making and management’ ?
We know that during planning/desgin phase of a project (project scheduling) CPM/PERT analysis is carried out. But in which phase of a project crashing of CPM/PERT analysis is carried out? Is it planning/design phase or execution phase?
Project life cycle has four phases namely, (i) Initiation phase,
(ii) Planning/Design Phase (Work Breakdown Structure), (iii)
Execution/Control Phase and (iv) Closing Phase. Among these for
phases when does project purchasing process take place?
For example if ABC railway company gives a tender to construct a
bridge, then
1. When (in which phase) project agreement (purchase) will be
sanctioned with DEF construction company?
2. In which phase project identification and selection is made?
3. In which phase statement of work and project appraisal (for
proposed project) is done?
As lot of work is done already, and i am new students in masters in construction project management, and doing research on IoT and its application in construction industry, i studied some papers related to IoT, but i am not coming up with a new idea or proposal. i need some suggestions about the areas of civil engineering where IoT is still not used.
Thank you in advance.
Any interesting articles or just infomation would be great.
Any good topic in the world related to construction project management
My intended research is titled: "Modern Methods of Construction: The potentials and challenges of using prefabrication technology for building modern houses in Afghanistan."
This study is both for my "Master Thesis" and I am also very keen to publish at least one Journal paper based on the outcomes of my research and progress in this regard.
I have difficulties of identifying a "theory" for the domain of construction engineering and management, and want to hear from both engineers and researchers about what are the critical body of knowledge of construction research, and which theoretical questions are critical to construction domain for effectively applying various technologies for addressing those theoretical issues.
Despite the importance to society, construction industry projects suffer frequent delays and cost increases (OLIVEIRI et al., 2016). Construction works have a huge waste and a low efficiency compared to other industries. Damage generated in infrastructure works worldwide brings losses of 1 trillion dollars worldwide (MCKINSEY & COMPANY, 2013). The delays and frequent increases in costs found in construction were the great drivers for companies to start directing a greater effort in the planning and monitoring of construction projects.

I would appreciate your ideas or any related new references. My supplementary question is: What are the new trends in eliminating or decreasing human error in critical industrial units?
I know AHP can be used to calculate weights of qualitative variables like flexibility and safety.
I want to be able to also consider quantitative variables (like cost and material handling distance) and then make a choice of the most appropriate layout design for each construction phase; while considering both the qualitative and quantitative variables together.
Is there any material model than can describe the non-linearity of cement mortar ?
I would like to get publications regarding challenges and problems associated with simultaneously managing spatially distributed construction sites
I am requesting you to kindly assist me in a survey I am conducting as a part of my research. It would be a great help for me if you kindly spare 15-20 minutes for this task.

Hi everyone,
I am conducting a survey on the above title. The purpose of this survey is to explore and identify whether the lack of collaboration in costing/design activities associated with the QSs, are the main barriers preventing their inclusion and partaking in collaborative practice. Therefore, the survey is seeking to identify these barriers and drivers in order to improve QSs role in costing/design and their engagement in collaborative practice.
You are invited to participate in this research project because of your knowledge and expertise in construction project delivery and collaborative practice within the UK construction industry. Your participation in this survey is vital for this research and will involve filling an online survey questionnaire that will take approximately 13 -15 minutes.
Many thanks.

Although aware of different dissertation types (traditional, work-based, and 'literature review') in my discipline 'construction project management' the first two types are much more prevalent. This field mainly employs social sciences research into management issues, or natural sciences research into materials. Therefore it is rare to see any dissertation without primary research. I'd be interested in opening this up for discussion to see a) in which fields is this approach more frequent, and b) what the key success criteria for dissertations that do not employ primary research would be?
I am looking for a research topic in this area. I want to solve a problem which bridge designers encounter; or propose an improved method for design; etc. I would like to know of any of potential topics.
What is strategic planning of an electrical and electronic engineering department? How to prepare this planning? How it can be implemented? How to monitor the implementation of strategic planning?
I am conducting a research as part of my Master’s Thesis in BIM Management at Middlesex University to seek your views of organisational cyber-resilience.
I have a questionnaire aiming to collect feedback as part of an investigation into the feasibility of cyber-resilience in the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) sector, with a focus on the BIM-enabled organisations in particular.
I would really appreciate the responses of AEC researchers. These responces will help to identify present attitudes to cyber-resilience and BIM, generate awareness through the release of the complete findings, and identify opportunities for addressing the challenges.
The questionnaire can be found in thee link attached.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
A Gantt Chart is used to represent a project schedule that includes duration of individual tasks or phases, their dependencies and ordering.
- It allows the planner to assess the duration of a project, identify the resources needed, and lay out the order in which tasks need to be performed.
- It displays the start and end points of each task and the percentage of completion of each task
- Using Gantt chart each team member can view the product development schedule.
- It is useful in managing the dependencies between tasks.
