Artificial intelligence (AI) is now influencing every area of human life. The past decade has seen a drastic increase in the use of AI, including facial recognition software, self-driving vehicles, search engines, and translation software. These accepted uses of AI in modern society have also coincided with an increased presence of AI in modern warfare. The escalating weaponization of AI parallels the nuclear arms race of the Cold War, with nuclear weapons being replaced with automated weapons systems. However, the international community, the United Nations, and international law have been struggling to adapt to and regulate the use of automated weapons, which are rapidly changing the landscape of modern warfare.
The international community started to take notice of AI and its influence on modern warfare in 2012, with a series of documents outlining the use of automated weapons systems. These documents included policy directives by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) on autonomy in weapons systems and a report from Human Rights Watch and the Harvard Law School’s International Human Rights Clinic (2012 HRW-IHRC report) calling for an outright ban on automated weapons.
The development and use of weapons that can undertake autonomous functions during conflict is becoming the focus of states and tech companies. In 2017, an open letter from the Future Life Institute to the United Nations (UN) signed by 126 CEOs and founders of artificial intelligence and robotics companies “implored” states to prevent an arms race for autonomous weapons systems (AWS).

Office communications, a challenge that many often face. Whenever u meet new people, whether in a professional or personal setting, natural inclination is to be kind, generous, and sweet. The approach to others will be without bias toward color, language, state, religion, or other differences.
However, this very nature sometimes might cause disruption is emotional wellbeing. Over time, many people begin to take you for granted, perceiving your kindness as naivety or weakness. When you undergo that treatment especially when you feel the breach self-respect boundaries, I tend to react strongly—sometimes becoming confrontational and showing no hesitation in asserting my stance. This reaction often hurts their ego, leading to strained relationships and eventual distancing. Once that happens, you might completely detach, erasing their presence from my life and behaving as though they don’t exist. This cycle generally repeats.
Adapting to the Challenge:
Since I cannot change the world—or fundamentally change myself—I’ve adopted a new approach to protect my boundaries. I present myself as strong, insensitive, fierce, and indifferent. While this approach has been somewhat effective, it feels unnatural and taxing because it conflicts with who I truly am.
This raises a deeply personal and costly question: Am I losing my genuine self in this process?

The concept of peace education is designed to promote harmony around the world by instilling values, attitudes, and behaviors that foster a culture of peace. It involves teaching individuals about conflict resolution, empathy, cooperation, and respect for diversity. By addressing the root causes of violence and conflict, peace education aims to create understanding and tolerance among people of different backgrounds and cultures. This approach encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling individuals to resolve disputes non-violently and contribute to peaceful communities. Ultimately, peace education seeks to build a more just and harmonious global society by empowering individuals to act as agents of peace in their daily lives.
Searching through the large literature on conflict and peace studies, I find very little mentioning of psychological mechanisms behind bellicosity, radicalization, and escalation versus peacefulness.
In a recent paper, I have argued that a better integration of social psychology and evolutionary psychology into conflict studies can improve our understanding of the root causes of violent conflicts and contribute to more effective peacemaking.

In my testing of statistical significance by bootstrapping, p_value shows that there are no specific indirect effects, but confidence intervals bias corrected 2.5% - 97.5% does not contain the value 0, this indirect effect has significance (followed source I read).

The article illustrates this with the formula Δ S ≥ 0 (change of entropy is bigger than, or equal to, zero).
This is one possible formula. Another is Δ S = 0 (change of entropy equals zero). This alternative is possible because the universe may not be a closed system. In general, most physicists today have faith that a successful theory of Quantum Gravity will be found someday. Such a Theory of Everything would reconcile two theories that are in apparent conflict – our best explanation of the microscopic world (Quantum Mechanics) and the best description we have of gravity (General Relativity).
The molecules in a gold ingot are connected in what appears to be a closed system. Quantum Gravity might conceivably connect all the molecules existing in space-time … in the universe as well as every period of time. But the universe could not be considered a closed system if it’s literally infinite and eternal. Throughout history, and including the present, speculation that the cosmos is infinite and eternal has never gone away. Despite the claim that the universe is finite and began at a definite point in linear time, knowledge of its origin is uncertain (the James Webb Space Telescope could make even the most dedicated proponent of the Big Bang doubtful at some point). We all have our theories and convictions but I believe it’s best to never say our deepest convictions can’t be incorrect.
If the cosmos is not a closed system, the heat produced by each of its seemingly closed systems wouldn’t simply be wasted. The energy created by the entropic 2nd Law of Thermodynamics would be diverted into the 1st Law of Thermodynamics i.e. the total mass-energy in the universe would forever remain constant, with mass and energy being converted into one another. It might be said that although no component of the universe can display the perpetual motion of existing forever, it’s plausible to regard the entire universe (entirety of spacetime) as in perpetual motion.
I'm an International Relations student at the University of Exeter and I'm currently trying to produce a case study looking into the military strategy and decision making processes of the M23 rebel movement in the DRC. However, most literature appears to approach this issue from a peace and conflict angle. Yet, a UN official interestingly claimed last year that the M23 rebels function like a "conventional" military. Is anyone able to recommend any research on the M23 rebels' strategic thinking or of strategy in rebel insurgencies more generally? Thank you!
When reading papers, I was confused about the relationship between Conflict Control and Inhibitory Control in psychology. From my perspective, Conflict Control conclude Inhibitory Control, and Inhibitory contorl have two components:
①Response Inhibition: Stimulus–Response- (‘SR-’) conflict
②Attentional Inhibition: Stimulus–Stimulus- (‘SS-’) conflict
They all share the familiar tasks and brain regions.
Although these tow concepts is familiar, I think there are some difference:
Conflict Conrtol focus on the possess how to control conflict, such as conflict resolution, conflict adaptation effect (trail by trail,CC-CI-II-IC).
Inhibitory contorl focus on average RT and ACC between congruent and incongruent trails.It's more likely a function while conflict control like a phenomenon.
So my question is ①What is the relationship between Conflict Control and Inhibitory Control? and ②Could we simply mixed Conflict Control and Inhibitory Control together?③Is conflict control = cognitive control or executive function?

I have a question about running my experiment using the PROCESS macro in SPSS.
The experiment involves a 3x3 between-subject design. The first manipulation is the strategic context (converging goals, task conflict goals, and process conflict goals), and the second manipulation is CSR contracting (monetary, nonmonetary, and absence).
For each manipulation, two dummies were created.
-In the strategic manipulation, the first dummy has task conflict goals=1, and converging and process conflict goals=0; the second dummy has process conflict goals=1, and task conflict and converging goals=0.

This text has been published in the Revue Roumaine de Philosophie 63(1), pp.19-35 in June 2019. In my analysis, I deal with some causes and origins of evil and of moral degeneration in the human dimension. My analysis focuses on Plato's Republic. The origins and causes of the presence of injustice and of vice lie in the very structure of the human soul. The division of the soul into parts which are at least reciprocally independent of each other implies that there is the possibility that they are in conflict with each other. This is the origin of injustice and the root of every form of evil. The correct equilibrium among the parts of the soul, which, in my opinion, are to be interpreted as authentic potencies, can be achieved only by developing the rational part. This development requires a thorough education in philosophy. Throughout my analysis I quote passages in which Plato points out the presence of bad instincts and, in general, of a morally difficult component in our soul. The kind of soul considered in my analysis is the embodied soul.

Hi, I am conducting analysis using one independent variable, 3 intervening variables, 1 dependent variable, and 2 control variables for a sample size of 233. I have tested mediation for the intervening variables (considering them in the same model) using path analysis and bootstrapping in Amos SEM. While path analysis is indicating a full mediation of all the three intervening variables, bootstrapping is indicating full mediation of only 2 of them. For the 3rd variable, it is showing an insignificant direct relation with the dependent variable. How do I interpret these conflicting results obtained using the same tool? Since 2022, scientific publishing sanctions have been applied in response to the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. Most reputable Western publishers, though earlier declared to be beyond politics, supported one side of the conflict with unprecedented banning manuscripts from every Russian institution, that is, every Russia-based scientist. Only Chinese and some other non-Western publishing houses remain open for scientists from Russia, but these publishers (such as Hidawi, MDPI, Frontiers) are regularly accused to be 'predatory' by the Western competitors. Is it admissible and compatible with the fair play principles?

Human-wildlife conflict is a worldwide issue, especially in villages around or in protected areas. Superficially, the conflict will exist when villagers aware that someone, who intend to protect the species, dominated the policy-decision process. As a result, the damages are treated as an imposed burden and lead to a feeling of helplessness even trigger angers from local communities.

Disentangling The Digital Battlefield: How the Internet Has Changed War
Journalists have described the invasion of Ukraine as the world’s “first TikTok war,” the most “internet-accessible war in history,” and history’s “most viral” social media war. But this kind of hype tells us only so much about the real impact of digital technology on the current conflict.
So far, three significant digital trends have emerged from the war in Ukraine. First, technological innovation has helped Ukraine to offset Russia’s conventional military advantage, particularly by increasing the participation of ordinary citizens. Second, as these citizens have become uniquely involved in digital warfighting, the lines between civilian and military actors have blurred. Unfortunately, international humanitarian law has not kept pace, leading to growing concerns about how the rules of war apply in a digital conflict. Third, the conflict has generated a massive amount of data potentially useful for holding war criminals to account. However, the proliferation of open-source investigations also creates new risks for analytic bias and procedural inconsistencies.
Governments and civil society organizations that are concerned with upholding the laws of war should take note of these emerging challenges. Digital technology is now a central feature of warfare. We all know what All Mankind have been through for the last decades, of which the climate change, energy crisis, etc. have always been pains in the neck. They directly or indirectly caused the shortage, inflation, supply-chain disruptions, regional/global economic crisis, or even escalated conflicts. Now, here comes a promising solution! (I personally suppose such an incredible scientific breakthrough deserves multiple Nobel Prizes!)

You are respected people. How can you trust "experts" who don't read the news on the topic they tell people?
Or are "experts" acting like Gordon Woo from Frontier? He got the article. Of the six experts, 4 approved the article, 2 wrote that they had a conflict of interest and therefore they would not write a conclusion. The editor announced that the article would be published.
But Gordon Woo intervened. And this "pseudo-expert" "Editor-in-Chief" forbade publication, saying that it was too early to publish this article.
Why early? Because he has not yet received money for a competing article in which one of the authors himself. An article about the "usefulness" of a System reports that there is an earthquake. This is a killer system: because of panic, children will die in schools. Gordon Woo is not qualified to be Editor-in-Chief and expert - he used his position to ignore "conflicts of interest".
