The theory of Red Socialism (or Communism/Marxist Socialism) is based on the assumption that by eliminating class differences, the state can achieve comprehensive economic equality and social welfare. This philosophy promises to achieve a society without exploitation and without the gap between rich and poor through nationalization, planned economy and class struggle.

Hi dear community,
I am in urgent need of an email address/whatsApp number of anyone from the Editorial team of the Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine. An accepted paper for more than 4 months is accepted and not yet published. We are receiving no anwser to the several emails and we have no idea why and how long it will further need. URGENT!
Thanks
Relevant answer
Answer
Not sure why they do not respond. All I see is that the journal “Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine” is a relatively small journal (with limited resources).
SCIMago (and their legit DOAJ membership) refers to the following homepage
https://www.mjphm.org.my/mjphm/ (which does not seems updated).
Another website leads to https://mjphm.org/index.php/mjphm (which seems to be the ‘new’ website). Their Scopus indexing looks legit https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100211350
Back to your question, looking at previous volumes https://mjphm.org/index.php/mjphm/issue/archive I see that Volume 24 No. 3 is missing. Volume 23 No. 3 was only published somewhere in Januari 2024 so I guess the missing number 3 issue will be published somewhere in the coming weeks.
I am afraid that being patient is all you can do.
Best regards.
PS. The thing is that this journal has no “article in press” or another ‘online version’ before the final version (with volume, issue and page numbers) is published. This means that regardless when the paper is accepted after publishing volume 24 No. 2 it will only show when the No. 3 issue is published on their website.

Climate change is a big issue that has to be percolated to the student community
Relevant answer
Answer
Many academic institutions around the world have already integrated climate change topics into their curricula, and this trend is expected to continue and expand. The inclusion of climate change education often begins at the primary and secondary levels, where students gain a basic understanding of the science behind climate change, its causes, and its potential impacts. At the higher education level, climate change is increasingly being covered in a broad range of disciplines, from environmental science and geography to economics, engineering, political science, sociology, and even business programs.
Key reasons and trends behind this integration include:
  1. Growing Urgency and Awareness: The intensifying impacts of climate change, such as more frequent extreme weather events and shifting agricultural zones, have prompted educational authorities and institutions to recognize climate education as essential. This awareness motivates curricular changes that provide students with the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to understand and respond to climate-related challenges.
  2. Interdisciplinary Approach: Climate change is a complex issue requiring input from multiple fields—science and engineering for mitigation and adaptation strategies, economics to understand the cost-benefit aspects of policy decisions, political science and law for effective governance and policy formation, and social sciences for understanding community resilience and behavioral change. This interdisciplinarity naturally lends itself to incorporation across various departments and programs.
  3. Professional and Career Relevance: As demand grows for professionals with expertise in sustainability, renewable energy, climate policy, and environmental management, academic institutions see strategic value in preparing graduates for green jobs and leadership roles in this evolving landscape.
  4. Guidance from International Frameworks: Bodies like UNESCO and the UNFCCC advocate for climate change education to build climate literacy, resilience, and sustainable development. National curricula revisions and accreditation bodies increasingly encourage or require incorporating sustainability and climate content into academic programs.
  5. Student Demand and Activism: Students themselves, driven by concern for their future, often push for more climate-related content. Academic institutions respond to this demand to remain attractive and relevant to current and prospective students.
Examples in Practice:
  • Primary and Secondary Education: Schools may integrate climate science into natural science courses and incorporate discussions about sustainability, renewable energy, and ecological stewardship into social science or civics classes.
  • Undergraduate Programs: Universities offer dedicated courses and majors focusing on climate science, environmental policy, and sustainable development. Even in traditional disciplines, climate change may be integrated—for instance, civil engineering courses might include modules on designing infrastructure resilient to future climate conditions.
  • Graduate and Professional Studies: Specialized master’s and doctoral programs concentrate on climate modeling, environmental economics, climate finance, and international climate negotiations. Professional schools, such as business or law, offer courses and certificates focusing on corporate sustainability strategies, climate law, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investment frameworks.
Looking Ahead:
As climate change continues to be a defining issue of the 21st century, the integration of climate-related content into academic curricula is poised not only to grow but to evolve. New research findings, policy developments, and technological innovations will continually refine how the topic is taught, ensuring that students are prepared with up-to-date knowledge and skills to address one of the most pressing global challenges.

Dear N cycling community,
I have been looking for studies reporting the difference in the gross N mineralization rates in soils under oxic vs. anoxic conditions?
Lower rate is expected under anoxia I assume, but would anyone have any concrete numbers to this, or good hints about references? Also studies reporting mean residence time for ammonium under oxic vs. anoxic conditions would be helpful.
Best, Maija
Relevant answer
Answer
Here’s a concise and professional response suitable for ResearchGate:
Gross nitrogen (N) mineralization is typically higher under oxic conditions than anoxic conditions due to the greater efficiency of aerobic microbial processes in breaking down organic matter. In anoxic conditions, microbial activity slows significantly, leading to reduced mineralization rates.
While the exact ratio varies depending on soil type, organic matter content, and environmental conditions, studies have reported that oxic mineralization rates can be 2–5 times higher than those under anoxic conditions. For example, in some tropical soils, oxic rates were observed to be 3–4 times greater.
Regarding ammonium (NH₄⁺), mean residence time tends to be longer under anoxic conditions due to the suppression of nitrification, which relies on oxygen. This highlights the critical role of oxygen availability in regulating nitrogen cycling processes in soils.
For further reading, you might find studies like Chen et al. (2015) or Davidson & Galloway (2004) insightful, as they explore N cycling dynamics under varying oxygen levels.

It's hard to come up with a general recipe for ORR calculations without knowing the 'boundary conditions.' To properly account for the free energy change for each ORR step, it is important to know which material you're working with. For example, is it magnetic? Is it 2D-like? Does it have strongly correlated electrons, f-electrons, etc.? Each of these material types will require specific VASP tags to account for key properties. Failing to properly model the properties of the material's surface will lead to inaccurate (unrealistic) results. So, I have done OER calculations on Co-decorated Pt, and for that, I had to enable the magnetism-related VASP tags to properly accommodate the magnetization contribution of the Co atoms.
Are you aware of these things and just need to know how to obtain the one-set potential?

Hey Everyone,
1) I have a question for the community is publishing in Frontiers chemistry is consider bad, many people is saying this while I found out the journal to be Q1 according https://www.scimagojr.com/journalsearch.php?q=21100461983&tip=sid
2) How I can distinguish fake conferances ? Anyone know this conference https://globalcatalysiscongress.com/venue/
Relevant answer
Answer
The conference is most likely a predatory one. The conference info (on the right) https://globalcatalysiscongress.com/venue/ mentions Biocore a publisher mentioned in the Beall’s list https://beallslist.net (their website is not existing anymore, the same as you click on Biocore journals at the conference website).
-Contact info renders no real office in London, most likely fake
-Looking in detail at the conference info https://globalcatalysiscongress.com/speakers/ I found that the first four speakers are experts in vaccines which has nothing to do with the scope of this conference (I am almost 100% sure that these people are not aware that they are mentioned here)
-Etc.
I think it is not so much a fake conference (I think it will actually take place) but the scientific relevance is questionable. These people focus on making money and are not interested in serving science.
Personally, I would avoid this one.
Frontiers in chemistry https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/chemistry is a legit and genuine journal. The publisher Frontiers Media S.A. https://www.frontiersin.org is a publisher fully dedicated to open access publishing and because of this to some suspect. Personally, a disagree but see for opinions about this publisher for example
In general, it is always good to ‘diversities’ the journals you publish in but having a publication in a journal like Frontiers in Chemistry is a nice addition in everyone’s CV.
Best regards.

Hello! I am a graduate student at Arizona State University taking an introduction to educational research course. In an effort to explore research and evaluation our instructors have asked us to seek out input from the academic community regarding the differences between the two practices. How do you think the two practices contrast? is there any overlap between the two, or are they entirely separate from one another? Thanks so much for your response!
Relevant answer
Answer
All evaluations are research but not all research is evaluation. Evaluation examines the effectiveness and efficiency of a practice--standard research tools can be used. A judgment about values is the end goal. Research does not have to be evaluative: DEEP is a general framework of four research purposes: descriptive, exploratory, explanatory, and predictive.

Relevant answer
Answer
Yes, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are very useful in layout planning, zoning, and community planning. Specifically, GIS can help in the following areas:
Layout planning: GIS can provide accurate geographic data for the layout of infrastructure and buildings, supporting designers and planners to optimize space utilization. Through the analysis of multi-dimensional data such as topography, transportation networks, and population distribution, GIS helps determine the optimal location and spatial arrangement of buildings.
Zoning Planning: GIS can be used to create zoning maps that specify the use of each area (e.g. residential, commercial, industrial). Planners can use GIS to analyze land use, traffic flow, environmental impacts, etc., to ensure that zoning plans are in line with urban development goals and environmental requirements.
Community planning: GIS can help planners understand the population density, resource distribution, and environmental impacts of a community so that they can design a more humanized community layout. For example, it can analyze the distribution of public service facilities such as green areas, schools, hospitals, etc., optimize the location of these facilities, and improve the quality of life of residents.
Through these applications, GIS can provide comprehensive data support and analytical tools for urban and regional planning, ensuring more scientific and rational planning solutions.

Question

The core issue lies in the translation of koinonia and its connection to modern concepts of society and community. The question arises: How should we translate koinonia? As modern translators often do, should it be translated as "society" or "community"?
The distinction between the Latin terms communitas and societas—the roots of the modern words "community" and "society"—is crucial. This distinction is highlighted by scholars like Friedrich Tönnies, who noted that communitas (community) is seen as organic and typically non-voluntary, whereas societas (society) is grounded in rational, voluntary, and contractual relationships. Max Weber emphasizes that society is based on rational behavior, creating interlocking networks of voluntary actors. At the same time, community is bound by non-voluntary, organic ties—such as kinship, family, and village life. Societas, in contrast, can interconnect various villages or larger structures that community cannot encompass.
The challenge with translating koinonia from Greek lies in its broader range of meanings. Koinonia can refer to intimate relationships—such as those between husband and wife, parent and child, or between friends—but it also extends to larger groupings, such as a race (genos). In this sense, koinonia encompasses both the intimate relationships within a household (oikos), which Aristotle identifies as including husband-wife, parent-child, and sibling relationships and the broader peer friendships of equals.
Crucially, koinonia also refers to the political community, the polis, which Aristotle views as the highest form of association where human beings can fulfill their nature and achieve eudaimonia(happiness or fulfillment). At this level—within the polis—Aristotle argues that human flourishing is optimized, in what we might describe, borrowing from economic theory, as a kind of "Pareto optimality" where the fulfillment of human potential is maximized.
In contrast, Aristotle suggests that larger associations—such as nations or tribes—do not provide the optimal conditions for human eudaimonia. Only within the polis, or the Roman civitas, can human beings fully realize their potential and achieve happiness. This presents a fundamental dilemma when translating koinonia and comparing it with modern concepts of society and community.
This difficulty is compounded when scholars of Aristotle and ancient Greek political thought attempt to link these ancient concepts with modern social constructs. Tönnies does not fully address this issue, and even Fustel de Coulanges, in his famous work The Ancient City, misrepresents the matter in some respects. Coulanges, following the ideas of Benjamin Constant, argues that the ancient world is fundamentally different from the modern world, emphasizing the role of religion and the nomos (law) in shaping the ancient city. In doing so, he engages in a form of historicism that scholars like Leo Strauss and Eric Voegelin criticize.
Curiously, despite Strauss's critique of historicism, he frequently recommended Coulanges’s The Ancient City to his students, which presents a perplexing issue. Nonetheless, this is the essence of the challenge we face in understanding and translating koinonia to both ancient and modern political thought.
Relevant answer
Answer
Thank you for your comment and I agree that the term is to be understood as a complex network of relationships. But it also is used in talking about the ethnos/ethnoi (tribes or nations), and the genos (or race) of humanity as such. Thus, given that range, would terms like community and society surely fall under that umbrella?

Do You Believe VP Harris Would Show Empathy to Tech Companies in Her Administration as POTUS?
I ask in light of the fact that, the ACP was not re-funded this round. So many and businesses need Internet Access, and a Device to access broadband. As one of the Community Agents that helped so many families obtain tablets and broadband for their household, I am curious what type of program she might roll out, and what that may mean for IT companies around the US.
What are your thoughts? Such a program could help so many small businesses and nonprofits, like mine
Relevant answer
Answer
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) has helped many by providing subsidies for internet access, improving digital inclusion. Bulk tablets from a similar program could benefit businesses by facilitating digital access for employees or clients, potentially enhancing productivity and engagement.

  1. Public Health, Scope: Public health encompasses a broad range of activities aimed at improving the health of populations as a whole. This includes policies, research, disease prevention, health education, and health promotion on a national or global scale. Focus Areas: It deals with issues like epidemics, health policies, environmental health, and global health initiatives. Public health professionals work on reducing health disparities, improving healthcare systems, and conducting health research.
  • Community Health, Scope: Community health focuses more narrowly on the health and well-being of specific communities or populations within a larger society. It involves localized efforts to address health needs and issues unique to that community. Focus Areas: This includes activities like community health education, local health programs, access to healthcare services, and addressing specific health issues prevalent in the community. Community health practitioners often work directly with individuals and groups to improve health outcomes at the local level.
Relevant answer
Answer
Thank you for raising this insightful question about the distinctions between Community Health and Public Health. I would like to provide some perspective on this topic.
Public Health and Community Health are complementary fields, each playing crucial roles in promoting health and well-being but differing in scope, focus areas, and methodologies.
Public Health:
Scope: Public health operates on a macro level, encompassing a wide array of activities aimed at enhancing the health of populations on a national or global scale. It involves policy development, health education, disease prevention, and health promotion. Public health professionals engage in research to understand health trends and develop strategies to address emerging health issues.
Focus Areas: Key areas include epidemic control, health policy development, environmental health, and global health initiatives. Public health efforts often aim to reduce health disparities, improve healthcare systems, and promote health equity. This field is heavily influenced by epidemiological research, which provides data-driven insights to guide policy and intervention strategies.
Community Health:
Scope: Community health, on the other hand, is more focused and localized. It targets specific communities or populations within a larger society, addressing health needs and challenges unique to those groups. Community health practitioners work at the grassroots level, often tailoring interventions to the cultural, social, and economic contexts of the communities they serve.
Focus Areas: This includes community health education, local health programs, and ensuring access to healthcare services. Community health initiatives often address prevalent health issues within the community, such as chronic diseases, mental health conditions, and access to preventive services. Practitioners work directly with individuals and groups, fostering trust and collaboration to improve health outcomes.
Interconnectedness: While public health provides the overarching framework and resources necessary for broad-scale health improvements, community health ensures that these resources are effectively utilized at the local level. For instance, public health research might identify mental health disparities across a country, while community health initiatives develop and implement targeted interventions to address these disparities within specific communities.
Example in Mental Health and Psychiatry:
In my field of mental health and psychiatry, public health efforts might focus on national mental health policies, large-scale epidemiological studies, and broad mental health promotion campaigns. Community health initiatives, however, would implement these policies and findings at the community level, providing localized mental health services, conducting community-specific mental health education programs, and addressing barriers to mental health care access in underserved areas.
Both public health and community health are essential in creating a holistic and effective health system. Public health sets the stage for broad health improvements, while community health ensures these improvements reach and benefit all populations, particularly those at the grassroots level. Their synergy is crucial for achieving comprehensive health and well-being for all.
Thank you for this engaging discussion. I look forward to hearing more thoughts and perspectives on this topic.

I use eDNA method to understand the changes of planktonic diatom community in a river. I choose 18S V4 primers(DIV4for (5′-GCGGTAATTCCAGCTCCAATAG-3′) and DIV4rev3 (5′-CTCTGACAATGGAATACGAATA-3′)) to amplify samples, but many samples can not produce results. After that, I can obtain community results by using rbcL(according to Rivera et al., 2018)(Diat_rbcL_708F and R3) , which is often used for benthic diatom research. So, is rbcL ok for studying river plankton diatom community?
Relevant answer

Answer
AI can't generate something, it can only collect information from the surrounding websites. AI will help in collecting information, a researcher will analyse those information. AI will help a researcher to avoid duplication.
The same help is available for a paid or unpaid journal also.
Statistical analysis is a different aspect of research. What statistical test is applicable to what type of data set or what type of software are available, AI will be helpful. But it is a researcher to do it and discuss the results.

I am surprised that an old paper of mine has attracted some recent attention.
I would like to discuss with these readers the basis for their interest and possibly, given their permission, inform other readers of the paper too.
At this point I do a search and say "hello"!
An Idea:
1. Could a link /option be provided with a paper to create a "discussion" and either the author or the reader could initiate it. If the reader requests a discussion, then then author gets a notice.
2. Could the existence of this discussion be a "link" associated with the entry in Research Gate. No space required other than the link itself. Perhaps an indication of the number of respondents and the date of the last contribution, e.g. (12, 1y)
3. A far-out idea is to provide the readers with a means of indicating that this paper is (in their mind) part of a network of evolving themes, concepts or a taxonomy. My colleagues have written papers on Bodies of Knowledge (BoK), Personal Learning Environments (PLE), so you get the idea.

Hello. I am examining the psychometric properties of the UGDS-GS, a test for measuring gender anxiety in the trans community. The problem I am facing is that my efa results are good but my cfa is not good. Is this due to the small sample size? My sample size is 140.
Relevant answer
Answer
EFA is less restrictive than CFA, as EFA allows all of the crossloadings. In contrast, most if not all crossloadings are typically fixed to zero in CFA. It is therefore rather typical for CFA to fit worse than EFA.
In terms of sample size, N = 140 is rather on the low side for both EFA and CFA. If anything, such a low sample size would typically result in a lack of statistical power to detect model misfit. Therefore, if you see misfit, I would definitely pay attention to it, especially in a small sample.

I currently try to calculate community weighted mean for leaves traits of forest undergrow - grasses and small shrubs. I use protected area of plants as a weighted coefficient. Only half of the studied plot have some cover. I wonder should i use relative cover for weighting or absolute.
For example if there is three species on plot -
First cover 10% of plot, second and third one cover 20% each. Should i use weighted coefficient 0.1 or 0.2 for first species and 0.2 or 0.4 for second?
Thanks in advance for response.
Relevant answer
Answer
We are talking here about a weighted coefficient, about a relative coverage. That is, the sum of all parts equals 100%. Therefore, using your example, if there are three species in the plot, with the first covering 10% of the plot and the second and third covering 20% each, you should use the following weighted coefficients:
For the first species: 10% / 100% = 0.1 For the second species: 20% / 100% = 0.2 For the third species: 20% / 100% = 0.2
So each species is weighted based on its relative contribution to the total (100%) coverage of the plot. Just do the SUM of it. I hope this helps.

The design of tourism-focused public spaces can have various impacts on local communities, both positive and negative. Here are some ways in which it can affect them:
  1. Economic Impact: Well-designed tourism-focused public spaces can stimulate economic activity by attracting visitors, leading to increased spending in local businesses such as restaurants, shops, and accommodations. This can create jobs and generate revenue for the local community.
  2. Cultural Exchange: Tourism-focused public spaces provide opportunities for cultural exchange between locals and visitors. They can showcase local traditions, arts, and crafts, allowing residents to share their heritage with tourists and vice versa. This cultural exchange can foster mutual understanding and appreciation.
  3. Community Identity: The design of public spaces can reflect the identity and values of the local community. By incorporating elements of local history, architecture, and culture, these spaces can strengthen community pride and identity. However, if the design overly caters to tourists and neglects local preferences, it may lead to resentment or loss of identity among residents.
  4. Social Interaction: Well-designed public spaces can serve as gathering places for both locals and tourists, fostering social interaction and community cohesion. They provide opportunities for people to meet, socialize, and participate in collective activities, contributing to a sense of belonging and connectedness.
  5. Environmental Impact: The design of tourism-focused public spaces can have environmental implications, particularly in terms of resource use, waste generation, and ecological conservation. Sustainable design practices, such as green infrastructure, energy-efficient lighting, and waste management systems, can minimize negative environmental impacts and promote long-term sustainability.
  6. Infrastructure Development: The development of tourism-focused public spaces often requires infrastructure investments, such as transportation, utilities, and amenities. While this can improve the quality of life for residents by providing better access to services and facilities, it may also lead to gentrification, displacement, or unequal distribution of resources if not managed properly.
  7. Overcrowding and Congestion: Popular tourism-focused public spaces may experience overcrowding and congestion, especially during peak tourist seasons. This can put pressure on local infrastructure, increase traffic congestion, and disrupt the daily lives of residents. Proper management strategies, such as crowd control measures and visitor management plans, are necessary to mitigate these issues.
Overall, the design of tourism-focused public spaces can significantly influence the well-being, economy, and social fabric of local communities. It is essential to consider the needs, preferences, and concerns of residents while planning and designing these spaces to ensure that they benefit both locals and visitors alike.

Buenas tardes.
Saludos cordiales

Hi there,
I am studying for a part-time master's degree in public policy at DCU, Ireland. My group has been asked to prepare A rapid policy assesment on housing options for senior citizens.
I would be very gratfeul if anyone has sources to share on the following:
1. what policies lead to better housing for all senior citizens>
Policies that lead to better housing for all senior citizens. However, based on general knowledge, some policies that can contribute to better housing for senior citizens include:
Age-friendly housing design: Implementing policies that promote the development of age-friendly housing, which includes features such as single-level living, wider doorways and hallways, grab bars, and accessible bathrooms. These design elements can enhance the safety and accessibility of housing for senior citizens.
2. Policies aimed at 'marginalized' senior citizens and those from 'minority' communities - I'm not always comfortable with the word 'minority' as their rights are equal to everyone else but I do agree that a significant part of our work should recognize the growth of distinct communities of senior citizens that fall under the overall umbrella of our topic - the LGBTQ senior citizens community being a good example.
3. Immediate policies, such as policies providing recommendations into the size, funding, and future growth plans of AHBs for senior citizens, as well as their approach to asset management, tenancy management, governance, and financial management.
what policies lead to better housing for all senior citizens?
The document does not specifically mention policies that lead to better housing for all senior citizens.
Affordable housing options: Implementing policies that ensure the availability of affordable housing options for senior citizens, such as rent subsidies, housing vouchers, and affordable housing developments specifically targeted towards seniors. This can help address the financial challenges that many seniors face in accessing suitable housing.
Supportive services: Implementing policies that provide supportive services for senior citizens within housing communities, such as on-site healthcare services, social activities, and transportation assistance. These services can help seniors age in place and maintain their independence.
Home modification programs: Implementing policies that provide funding or assistance for home modifications to make existing housing more suitable for senior citizens. This can include installing ramps, handrails, and other accessibility features to improve safety and mobility within the home.
Aging in place initiatives: Implementing policies that support seniors in aging in place, allowing them to remain in their own homes and communities as they age. This can include programs that provide home care services, home maintenance assistance, and community support networks.
It is important to note that the specific policies and approaches to improving housing for senior citizens may vary depending on the country and local context.
4. Policies or examples of success in creating good community living environments for senior citizens, We would be helped by any sources that examined age friendly cities with the intention of writing about how we could make cities & towns more age friendly in general.
I would be very grateful for asssistance on this project as it is worth 80% of module marks!
Kind regards

Several policies have been implemented to provide housing options for senior citizens in the United States of America. These policies aim to improve the quality of life for seniors by ensuring that they have access to safe, affordable, and appropriate housing options. This essay will discuss three policies that have successfully provided good housing options for senior citizens. The first example is the Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly program, created by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 1959. This program provides funding for developing affordable housing units specifically designed for seniors. The program also offers rental assistance to low-income seniors, making the housing even more affordable. According to a National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) study, the Section 202 program has successfully provided safe and affordable housing to nearly 400,000 low-income seniors (NLIHC, 2021). The program has also been praised for its focus on creating supportive communities for seniors, with services such as meal delivery and transportation assistance. Another policy that has successfully provided good housing options for seniors is the single-room occupancy (SRO) housing program. This program was first launched in the 1950s and was designed explicitly for low-income elderly individuals. SRO housing offers small, affordable units with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. The program has successfully provided affordable housing options for seniors and promoted a sense of community among the residents. A study by the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University found that SRO housing has effectively reduced housing cost burdens for seniors and improved their overall well-being (Joint Center for Housing Studies, 2018). The third example is the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, which created the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. This program funds local governments to address various community needs, including affordable housing for seniors. The CDBG program has successfully promoted the development of high-quality, affordable housing for seniors in many communities across the U.S. For example, the City of New York has utilized CDBG funding to create a senior housing development with 355 affordable units and on-site services such as healthcare and social activities (NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, 2021). This program has also been praised for its flexibility, as local governments have the autonomy to determine the best use of funding based on their community's needs. These three examples demonstrate effective policies that have provided good housing options for senior citizens. These policies have increased the availability of affordable housing for seniors and focused on creating supportive and inclusive communities for them. Additionally, these policies have been continuously evaluated and updated to meet the aging population's changing needs. These examples highlight the importance of implementing policies that address the housing needs of senior citizens. Through the Section 202 program, SRO housing, and the CDBG program, the government has provided safe, affordable, and supportive housing options for seniors. These policies have improved seniors' quality of life and positively impacted their overall well-being. Policymakers must continue to prioritize and invest in programs that support the housing needs of senior citizens to ensure they can age in place with dignity and security.

It can be difficult to pinpoint a single researcher on this topic because the church-community relationship is a vast field of study. However, there are several prominent scholars who have done significant work in this area. Here are some names to get you started:
Donald Miller: Miller is a sociologist who has written extensively about the changing nature of religion in America, including the decline in church attendance and the growing disconnect between churches and their communities. His book "Demolishing the Myth" explores these themes.
Stephen L. Nock: Nock is another sociologist whose research focuses on the relationship between religion and civil society. His book "The Social Benefits of Religion" examines the positive impact that religious institutions can have on communities.
Rodney Stark: Stark, a sociologist of religion, takes a more positive view of the church-community relationship. He argues that churches play a vital role in social capital and community development. His book "City of God" delves into this perspective.
Robert Putnam: Putnam, a political scientist, is best known for his book "Bowling Alone, which explores the decline of social capital in America. While not solely focused on churches, his work is relevant to understanding the changing role of religious institutions in communities.
Evelyn and James Whitehead: This husband-and-wife team are sociologists who have studied the Black Church and its role in African American communities. Their work, such as "Religion in the African-American Experience", highlights the unique dynamics of faith-based institutions within specific cultural contexts.
In addition to these individual scholars, there are also research institutions that focus on religion and its role in society. Here are a couple of examples:
The Pew Research Center: This nonpartisan research organization frequently conducts surveys and studies on religion and public life, including the relationship between churches and communities. You can find their relevant reports on their website.
The Hartford Institute for Religion Research: This institute at Hartford Seminary in Connecticut conducts research on a variety of topics related to religion, including its role in civic life and social change. Explore their website for resources.
This is not an exhaustive list, but it should give you a good starting point for your research into the church-community relationship, its potential disconnect, and strategies for rebuilding connections.
