LD diagnostic process is initiated by teachers or specialized educators who utilize the KUS-SI rating scale, a screening tool designed specifically for Thai children aged 6-12. This tool assesses symptoms of ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. Completed by teachers of Thai and mathematics who have had at least three months of direct experience with the child, the screening results are subsequently referred to medical specialists for further diagnosis. Nevertheless, teachers and educators take a proactive approach by collaborating with parents to create IEPs that address the child's unique challenges.
However, many schools lack the resources to identify and diagnose these students. To tackle this issue, Thailand has been pushing for inclusive education in all schools and hiring more special education teachers.

I completed my PhD last year and am currently not affiliated with or employed by a university. I continue to utilize my previous affiliation for manuscripts resulting from the projects I undertook during my PhD. However, I am involved in other collaborative projects. I am curious about the possibility of obtaining an honorary status from a university or research institute for the purpose of publication, allowing me to use their affiliation until I secure a post-doc or research position in a university or institution. Is this feasible?
Relevant answer
Answer
Yes, you can secure honorary affiliation for post-PhD publications by contacting academic institutions or research organizations and demonstrating your research contributions and potential. Networking with faculty, attending conferences, and collaborating on research projects can also help establish such affiliations.

In your opinion, what is the greatest role, function, importance, etc. of the development of international scientific cooperation?
International scientific cooperation plays an important role in the development of science and scientific research. In recent years, the development of online knowledge bases, online indexing databases of scientific publications, online science portals facilitates the development of international scientific cooperation. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the scale of remote communication conducted via the Internet increased significantly. The scale of realization of scientific conferences and symposia remotely through online video conferencing platforms has increased. With online science portals enabling discussions, the development of scientific cooperation on an international scale has been facilitated. Thanks to the aforementioned online science portals, i.e. this Research Gate portal, it is possible to set up and operate international research teams, where researchers and scientists operating in different countries can conduct collaborative scientific research, exchange experiences from their research, jointly publish the results of their research work in scientific articles and monographs. I hereby inform you that I am open to scientific cooperation, including scientific cooperation carried out internationally. I invite you to publish the results of the conducted scientific research in a scientific journal:
"International Journal of Legal Studies" (ISSN 2543-7097):
Legal sciences, normative aspects of various issues, various issue described in normative terms:
Publisher: International Institute of Innovation "Science - Education - Development" in Warsaw
"International Journal of Legal Studies" is a scientific journal published semi-annually (semiannual). After the publication of each issue of the journal, all articles are posted in a number of databases for indexing of scientific publications in the formula of open access. This significantly increases the visibility of articles on the Internet and translates into higher citability.
I invite you to join me in scientific cooperation.
I invite you to contact me by email: darprokop111@gmail.com
In view of the above, I address the following question to the esteemed community of scientists and researchers:
In your opinion, what is the greatest role, function, importance, etc. of the development of international scientific cooperation?
In your opinion, what is the greatest role of international scientific organizations?
What do you think about this topic?

I have a monthly netCDF4 file containing chlorophyll-a values, and I aim to forecast these values using time series analysis.
My approach involves computing monthly spatial averages for this entire region and then forecasting these averages. Is this methodology valid?
Additionally, could you recommend a Python code for time series forecasting based on this approach?
Is it feasible to predict values for individual grid points without considering spatial averaging?
My study area encompasses an oceanic region of approximately 45,000 sq km near the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
Relevant answer
Answer
Forecasting the quantity of chlorophyll-a based on time series (historical data) is not considered scientifically reliable due to the variable nature of chlorophyll-a, as it serves as the sole reference source for predicting the past behavior of the study area. Instead, it is recommended to estimate the amount of chlorophyll-a based on the variability of SST and SSS. To initiate this process, it is appropriate to utilize the simple mlp artificial network algorithm, which can be tailored to suit your specific requirements. Collaborative studies on the psychological effects of earthquakes could significantly contribute to understanding the mental health challenges faced by survivors. It is essential to explore the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental health issues in those affected by earthquakes, as well as identifying effective coping strategies and resilience factors. By fostering collaboration among professionals in the mental health field, such as psychologists and psychotherapists, valuable insights can be gained to develop targeted interventions and support systems for individuals and communities dealing with the aftermath of earthquakes. These studies may also pave the way for implementing preventive measures and enhancing disaster preparedness to mitigate the long-term psychological impacts of seismic events.
I am more than willing to be part of this study.

Personally, I very regret about the decision to retire projects in RG. This was a good possibility to order publications by subjects, to inform the community about the progress of own long-term projects, and to get informed about the progress of projects of other researchers. - You may try to contact RG's support team at https://www.researchgate.net/contact. If many users complain, perhaps the decision will be revised. I have sent my opinion to them.

Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a fast way to look for research topic in a desirable affiliation rather than going through each and every university/manuscript to find for instance faculties and schools in a specific country that work on your topic of interest.
just a few examples to make it clearer:
which universities in UK study on grapevine...
or which universities in Italy work on lightweight concrete...
or a list of universities in Germany that work on brain tumors....
and so on...
This would be very beneficial for those who are job hunting and are looking for topics that are related to their specialties an expertise...
Thank you

Dear Abbas,
I don't think that anything like this exists in general. It also seems to be complicated to narrow down labs to specific knowledges or topics.
A biochemistry group or proteomics lab, for example, might work on proteins related to cancer, plant diseases and Alzheimers. However, most people would not say that these are "cancer labs" or "plant disease labs".
If you have experience in a particular field of research, you should know the literature in this field. For instance, you have read most publications about banana diseases.
Moreover, you have attended conferences in your field of research.
This means, you know which labs work in your field of research, you know the other PhD students, postdocs and PIs (in person, or by name).
Therfore, you probably don't need such a list.

When you have two experts collaborating on a problem, you get better quality data, in less time and grant money.  Yet, it astounds me the number of researchers who insist on writing code themselves.
To address this,  I started a program that connects science researchers with volunteer software developers, my hypothesis is that facilitating these collaborations will result in better, more customizable software.  I'm looking for researchers who want to participate in the pilot of this program -- someone who has a coding project and is willing to collaborate with a software developer to get it built.

Hi all,
Have to run some focus groups across a very diverse (government, industry and academia) and sometimes contentious collaborative project.
The objective is to find out what each different stakeholder group really thinks about the collaboration and where they might 'fit in' after this pilot finishes.
For this reason I have planned to run them specific to each stakeholder group so they can provide candid feedback, but have now had a request for people from one stakeholder group to attend all focus groups.
My sense is this is a bad idea, but have not grounds for this opinion. Anyone able to point me to any research or practitioner observations on this, it would be really appreciated.

I agree with David Morgan - stick with your original design. Go to the literature for a justification for having a FG in the first place if you think you need to justify the design. If there's one group that is insistent on attending, perhaps offer to have a 4th, mixed FG as a form of member checking after you've had the first three and done an initial analysis.

Hello, Colleagues,
I have seen many RG questions about getting a publisher for a text that you have written or that you propose to write.
My experience may not be typical and I have but one edited text to my credit but I am eager to help others. My edited interdisciplinary collection of essay is titled _Orbiting Ray Bradbury's Mars_ (2012) for McFarland Publishers. They are the major popular culture publishing firm in the US.
I am inviting people in at the start of an invited proposal to a multinational educational publisher. I was invited to propose a companion text on LITERATURE AND CLASS because of a review I did of another text. This convinced the publisher that I could create a research text for them.
STEP ONE: do reviews of other people's texts. If you do a review, say you are available to do more.
I invite you to watch this journey from start to conclusion of a project to publish a reference text with a major publisher. This should be a good discussion that takes us beyond the "what if I had a publisher" stage with no specifics involved.

I am working on "Microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-4Cu matrix nanocomposites reinforced by Graphene" that is prepared by mechanical alloying, finally consolidated by spark plasma sintering (SPS) process. XRD, FESEM, Raman, and FTIR are done. In order to support our results, as a part of my thesis on the effect of reinforcing component on the matrix of the composite matrix and study of the interface of the Graphene and Al-4Cu, I need to perform Electron Back Scatter Diffraction (EBSD) characterizations and TEM on my 4 specimens to reveal some microstructural features mainly related to the grain orientation effect at fracture surface and below that. Unluckily, we have no access to EBSD and TEM in our university right now. We are looking for a respectful collaborator who can help us on our way.

My question is this; In Turkey are these methods started to be used; if used for how long and where? (other than PSA,RDE,USG); prostate biopsies can also irritate prostate and lead a false increase in PSA and can hurt the patient (also including risk of infection).
If not; can you give reasons?
@Karan Sood; I have no opportunity to come India; as a researcher in this topic, can you suggest me a link to catch-up recent studies and a lead topic to join a research group.
Thank you all

Recently, I have discovered those platforms or competitions for predictive modelling and analytics (such as Kaggle or Driven Data) on which companies and researchers post their data and statisticians and data miners from all over the world compete to produce the best models. I have to say that they really make me enjoy during some free-time, although some of the competitions require hard effort in analyses structuration and also a team formation (specially in the case of the big projects that are often recognize with a generous quantity of money and other sweet possibilities). However, not always there are economic donations rather than science knowledge. My specific question is: are you interested in collaborate with other people in public data science competitions?
My main objectives are related with human wellness and I am used to program in Matlab, but I can also employ R or python for other purposes. I am also interested in social sciences studies. If you are interested, we can contact and maybe form a team for such competitions! Wellcome and good luck!!

Hello,
I would like to compile a citation reference list covering human RNA-Seq needs for researchers. I am wondering if anyone has already compiled a "guide line" list for the sequencing depth needed for 80% or 90% coverage with RNA Seq for samples of various sources, say FFPE tissue as compared to fresh, or highly expressed sequences as compared to low mRNAs from human or mammals etc.?  I realize that it is a big ask but if anyone has some guidance we could work together and share information and the citations..thank you .Sincerely Lyndon

Answer
HI Abid,
Yes I am currently collecting references of articles and making a big list and then I try figure out some guidelines. I was just hoping that active researchers in the field might already have some key references available that I could look at. Everyone today speaks of various depths in generalities but finding true papers for human for specific messages types is more difficult but I am making progress. Thank you for taking time to respond to my questions and I wish you all the best in your research.

Hi,
I am looking to perform an RNA-Seq experiment on a series of single-neuron samples. As this is a very precise and technically demanding assay, I am looking to collaborate with experts in the field for RNA-handling, sequencing and data analysis.
Can anybody recommend highly reputed companies or lab groups that routinely process single cells for RNA-Seq?
Thanks,

I'm interested in the academic perspective of students completing their thesis alongside or within a company (not) connected to the university. If you have any comments relating to the questions below I would love to hear them.
1. Does your university offer the opportunity for students to work with companies in their research?
2. Is the quality of work done generally equal/above/below when compared to the traditional approach?
3. Have you encountered problems when a student has done research with a company?
4. Is there a need for platforms such as: http://matchmythesis.com/?
5. Are there any experiences where this has been a positive experience?
6. Related comments.
All discussion is welcome, thanks.
Relevant answer
Answer
Several of the universities I work with are happy for doctoral students to work with companies, and students are often also happy, particularly if the company is paying their fees. This can be anything from a great partnership to a disaster. In my experience, problems most commonly arise when (a) different partners have different expectations and communication is not good, (b) a student agrees to investigate a research question which is not sufficiently close to their heart to carry them through the lengthy and complex doctoral process, or (c) changes within the company or in the wider world cause the company to lose interest in the student's research during the process. Match My Thesis looks like a potentially useful starting point, though I haven't been able to check it out thoroughly as I don't want to register on the site.  But I think support during the whole process might also be useful. The doctoral student-supervisor relationship can be difficult to manage in itself, and when you throw a company into the mix, whose main interest is its bottom line, that adds a whole new layer of complexity. I have heard a great deal more about problems than about positive experiences, though that may be because people talk more about their problems than about their positive experiences. The positive experiences I've heard about have been those where there has been some measure of support throughout, such as through Knowledge Exchange Partnerships in the UK.

I'm researching collaborative governance and network governance theories. However, I'm having trouble differentiating the two as they seem to be based on the same premise of groups of actors from a variety of organisations participating in decision-making. Network Gov. has an economic base and therefore, it mainly looks at economically and regulatory meaningful actors such as NGOs and institutes. On the other hand, collaborative Gov. has a social base and it has a bigger concern about people and society. In their development, these two concepts have gotten very close together and the boundaries overlap strongly.

I'm new here, but I think ResearchGate (as a concept) is great!
But do you think it will encourage you or your colleagues to collaborate on projects with people they meet on here?
I have had the great opportunity to start talking about collaborating on projects with two different groups now, both are nowhere near my place of residence (Australia) and in any other case I would have no opportunity to work with them. So I see it as a major plus. But then, my case might be the exception(?). I do have the advantage of skills which can be used via distance, i.e. data analysis - so I can imagine that, for example, someone with very good bench skills or skilled in a particular surgery might not get the same benefits.

It is widely believed that interdisciplinary projects more likely lead to breakthrough results and innovations than mono-disciplinary research projects. If this is true, how have funding organizations reacted? Do they foster interdisciplinary work? Or, do they stay away from it? And what are the practical consequences for us, who compete for research grants?
Relevant answer
Answer
Funding organizations can be and are often are a force for interdisciplinary efforts. However, scientists as reviewers find is generally easier to understand and be enthusiastic about proposals that are less complex and less multidisciplinary in my experience. Most reviewers do not do multi-disciplinary work and few understand or appreciate it at a deep level. Most reviewers are professors who have many responsibilities besides research and thus cannot master more than a limited set of disciplines. A proposal on a single well-known problem employing a single method can be understood and appreciated if it is of high quality by most reviewers. These projects largely get the best scores. With funding so limited as is now the case, only the best scores are supported. If reviewers get confused by a multidisciplinary proposal, then they assume the applicant is being confusing. Explaining multiple techniques and their importance and limitations in a limited space is hard, as reviewers may lack the broad background to appreciate more than a few methods. The applicant doing multidisciplinary work almost has to guess what the reviewers may be thinking when they do their review, as no proposal gives applicants enough space to throughly address every issue at the same level. Even when reviewers see the value and creativity in a multidisciplinary proposal they will likely find something they question and thus the score will not be as high as for a simpler proposal where everything can be covered more thoroughly. So the review process is a block to multidisciplinary work.
