For more than a century, people all over the world are celebrating March 8 as a special day for women. What bothers you about the women around you, what do you want to change? Tell me.
Relevant answer
Answer
I am sharing some general observations about issues that affect women globally and potential areas for improvement.
Although women have made significant strides in terms of education, employment, and representation in politics, there is still a long way to go in achieving gender equality. Some of the persistent challenges faced by women include:
Gender-based violence: Women and girls continue to experience various forms of violence, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape, and female genital mutilation.
Discrimination in the workplace: Despite equal pay laws and anti-discrimination policies, women still face discrimination and bias in hiring, promotion, and pay.
Lack of access to education: Many girls around the world still do not have access to education, which limits their opportunities and perpetuates gender inequality.
Limited representation in politics: Women are often underrepresented in politics, so their voices and perspectives are not fully heard in decision-making processes.
Cultural and social norms: Societal expectations and cultural beliefs about women's roles and capabilities can limit their choices and opportunities, perpetuating gender inequality.
To achieve true gender equality, it's essential to address these issues and work towards creating a world where all women can live, work, and thrive on equal footing with men.

I need to discover how many people publicated articles, thesis or dissertations about a music celebrity to gather material in order to request them honoris causa doctorate at my institution.
Relevant answer
Answer
In lieu of the availability of such "one-stop shopping," I'd recommend you utilize a search engine. Type in the names of academicians, authors, print and journalists whose names you associate with the genre, in quotes, then, separated by the word "and"," followed by the name of music celebrity, also in quotes.
Do this repeatedly for as long as it takes to get a feel for whether you're on the right track, compiling a list in the process, utilize other resources to find contact information in order to verify and confirm, then you'll be well on your way.

I recently was browsing a popular researcher benchmarking website looking at peer review activity. I saw that some top ranked reviewers had completed over 1000 reviews, just in the last 12 months! This is not to mention papers they have authored and, presumably, sleeping occasionally. I concede that I am not as efficient as some researchers, but that seems like a lot.
If someone were doing a job like driving us around in a taxi, would we celebrate the driver who drives for 23.5 hours a day? Or alternatively, the driver who gets 100 jobs done by driving 100 miles an hour and cutting the corners everywhere they go? Is there a comparison that can be made, or not really?

In Academia, we have gotten used to dialogs like this one:
A- Look, that person over there, is very important, a genius.
B- Yes? Why?
A- Published in Science and Nature.
B- Ohh! And what about?
A- Have no idea …. But man! Science and Nature!... what a genius.
B- Yes…. What a genius.
The repercussion of a scientific idea, probably now more than ever, will depend on what journal the idea is published. It seems there are no alternatives. If you have a good idea, it must be published in a top-ranked journal. Otherwise, your idea, and you, are not perceived as good as you may think or deserve. Consciously or unconsciously, journals are perceived as something more relevant than the ideas they publish. They are perceived as labels of quality.
The higher the ranking of the journal you publish in, the better your idea (and you) will be celebrated by colleagues. That (weird, unjust, and even unethical) paradigm has been dominating the international scientific community for many years in Academia. But what is more important?: the journal, the idea, or the authors? There seems to be a great deal of confusion around that.
For many (most?) colleagues and institutions, counting the number of papers in top-ranked journals still is the best way to identify the best scientists that should be perceived as role models within the scientific community. Some weigh also the leading role of the authors in their papers, some weigh the number of citations received. But the critical factor seems to be always in what top-journal you have published and how many times you did it.
However, there are disciplines that seem to be outside this loop. Often, colleagues from the Social Sciences tell me they do not worry about international top-ranked journals as much as we (in Biological Sciences) do. I´m sure it doesn’t work the same in different countries, as I see some researchers from the Soc Sc frequently publishing in top-ranked journals.
So, do journals really determine what ideas will prevail over others? Is this problem properly addressed by the international scientific community? What alternatives do scientists have? Join the discussion and share your ideas!

I'm probably misquoting, but this brings to mind for me something Wittgenstein said, I guess, to a student/colleague: 'we have to make our own oxygen'. For me, someone who has been in this game for a while, this means that my main goal is to be happy with my own work and not to worry about exactly where it is published. Sure, there is pleasure in getting in a top journal, but sometimes I'm equally proud of work that appears in local-small outlets. If you ever re-read your own work several years after publication, isn't it important that we don't cringe about what we have said, ie. we made an argument/contribution that still stands, or at least makes reasonable sense?

Celebrity endorsements are common across lifestyle products even basic things as groceries are being endorsed by celebrities, but when it comes to investing does endorsement of a mutual fund scheme or a broking service or an insurance product by a celebrity (specifically from sports, music or cinema) change the investors /buyers behavior towards such product. Does celebrity endorsements have relevance when it comes to personal financial planning.

Adding to all the previous answers, it may also depend on the brand image and personality of the celebrity. Some of them have trust engraved with their image, like Big B, Dhoni etc. If these kind of celebrities can sell real estate projects which is also considered as an investment. Then why not other forms of investment.

Imitation of research ideas is a common crime in academics. A relatively less reputed researcher has always the possibility that his/her research ideas might be imitated. If he/she submits a very good paper to one of the most celebrated journals of his/her discipline, the paper might be desk-rejected without citing any reason. After a couple months later on one good morning, the researcher might find that almost a similar paper has been published in a journal of similar rank and the day becomes a very bad indeed!
What should be the right strategy for a researcher having a relatively small size of network for protecting imitation of his/her research ideas from people possessing much larger network? Should he/she go for forging into a tacit agreement with the author / co / associate editor(s) of the journal knowing fully well that it is also a academic crime?
Relevant answer
Answer
I still believe true scholarship cannot be imitated or challenged in long run.

If I should die, think only this of me: That there’s some corner of a foreign field That is for ever England. There shall be In that rich earth a richer dust concealed; A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware, Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam, A body of England’s, breathing English air, Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home. And think, this heart, all evil shed away, A pulse in the eternal mind, no less Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given; Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day; And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness, In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.

The most recognisable scientist of our age, Hawking holds an iconic status. But why in majority people adore celebrities but notscientists?
Relevant answer
Answer
This is the wrong question. Most important is how someone can become a celebrity, not which profession he/she is coming from. Some scientists and researchers are also celebrities, for an example married couple from BionTECH, or Noah Chomsky etc. But, it is truth that scientists are minority in the world of celebrities. In the world of commercial/corporate media any individual is only number, a piece to be sold, and any user of those media is also only number, a piece to be sold to advertisers. Making a celebrity doesn't mean that someone is really important or achieved anything important it his/her professional life. For commercial media is more important that somebody is "avaliable" to act as "celebrity".

Food is an important part of any celebration in all nations of the world, regardless of culture or religion. It can unite and strengthen community bonds and helps to maintain a common identity among a group of people.
Relevant answer
Answer
Different countries use food in different ways to help celebrate special occasions like Christmas, New Year, weddings and birthdays.
Christmas
Many Christmas symbols, such as mistletoe and Christmas cards, spread to the world from Great Britain. This is why many countries that were once part of the old British Empire - Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, for example - have similar Christmas customs.
Most of the foods typically associated with Christmas, such as mince pies and fruit cake, also arose from British tradition. In Australia, it is becoming increasingly popular to enjoy seafood on Christmas Day, rather than roast meats and ham, due to our warmer weather.
Traditional Christmas foods differ from one social group to the next, depending on local availability and cultural significance. Some examples include:
  • France - black and white pudding, which is sausage containing blood
  • French Canada - desserts like doughnuts and sugar pie
  • Germany - gingerbread biscuits and liqueur chocolates
  • Nicaragua - chicken with a stuffing made from a range of fruits and vegetables including tomato, onion and papaya
  • Russia - a feast of 12 different dishes, representing Christ’s disciples.

Wow! A Media Startup for God!
Within a short time ICM has grown to be one of the leading Indian catholic websites with over 65 (and counting!) of the best Indian catholic authors, besides a nation-wide network of journalists writing for it.
ICM has been ranked 51 among Top 100 Catholic Websites in the world. Today, its reach is global and thousands of people visit the ICM on a daily basis to be spiritually enriched.
ICM's journey wasn’t any easy, ICM did not have any budget to start with, and no history of its people having worked together, nothing to show to the first few writers and how to reach out to readers. It went through typical startup birth pangs.
“ICM then charted out on its own and began piecing together. It’s aim to offer inspirational and unique Indian Catholic content paid rich dividends in the long run.
ICM began with a focus on commissioning articles from Indian catholic priests, religious and laity and using different WhatsApp groups as a mode of content delivery as daily digests. It relied solely on strong and original content to encourage people to get onto the website, and that worked! The cutting-edge stories left readers asking for more.”
Awesome news indeed! ICM “didn’t miss out even on a single day in updating the site with fresh content! Our great team of reporters, writers, authors, tech hands, developers, designers were able to work from their homes from different parts of India”!
I am delighted to affirm that the future growth strategies that can benefit the community look very impressive.
Great to know that: “Having come this far we are have become stronger in our belief that God will certainly lead some kind-hearted soul to help us in our mission to reach out and positively impact people world over.” Here comes a very earnest wish that God may lead some generous-heated persons to help you in your wonderful mission for His people.
It is my privilege to invite you to upload your Dreams for ICM on our Lab. Thanks

"Advent" means "arrival", this is the time of the four weeks before Christmas, the feast on which, according to Christian tradition, Jesus is born. Today, the religious background is often pushed back by the Christmas market, hot tea, Christmas cookies, and the shops try to encourage customers to buy Christmas presents through a rich offer. Is that the case with you - or is it completely different?

For decades, scholars and think tanks have debated the effectiveness of aid in reducing poverty. In this debate, we will build on previous arguments about the effectiveness and value of aid, but focus on its role in disaster risk reduction and post-disaster reconstruction and recovery.
Scholars, think-tanks, celebrities, and politicians have claimed aid is crucial to prevent famines, diseases, and deaths. They argue that donors’ money can be used to solve basic problems in areas like sanitation, vaccination, education, housing, and infrastructure. Aid can also be used to fund monitoring activities and learn from interventions. More importantly, they contend that traditional markets alone cannot resolve housing and infrastructure deficits. They note that the poor are often stuck in feedback loops that economists call “poverty traps.” In other words, millions are poor precisely because they live in poverty. Slum dwellers, for instance, find it difficult to escape poverty because they pay proportionally more for services and infrastructure than wealthier citizens. Foreign aid is needed to break these vicious cycles and replace them with virtuous ones that make vulnerable people more resilient. For defenders, the real problem is lack of funds, not present mechanisms of aid. From their view, people use criticisms of aid merely as excuses to justify not donating money.
On the other hand, critics often find too much money is “wasted” on aid. For them,  initiatives seldom produce positive long-term change and—in many cases—even create more damaging than desirable results. They contend that donors’ money is spent on band-aid solutions that rarely have long-term impacts. They argue that aid is largely controlled by political agendas, feeds on forms of neo-colonialism, focuses too much on technology transfer, creates dependency, and bypasses legitimate governments and authorities. They contend that aid is often based on centralized schemes produced by over-confident and idealistic decision-makers with little knowledge of what is needed “on the ground.” For them, aid is often driven by ideology, and lacks the performance incentives and accountability mechanisms found in competitive (and typically “more efficient”) markets.
For this debate, we have invited two internationally recognized experts in humanitarian assistance and interventions to defend each viewpoint.
Our panellists will present their most persuasive arguments over the next ten days, but the outcome of the debate rests in your hands. Don’t hesitate to vote immediately—you can always change your mind. Better yet, once you have cast your vote, add your voice to the debate and explain your decision.

is a mapping, where H is the set of all human beings, and N is the set of nonnegative integers.
H is an increasing variable set with time.
The solution of E(x)=0 has a solution x ∈ K where K is the set of all humans who are not co-authors with Erdős and not any co-author of any co-author of Erdős up to any order!
K is a nonempty set almost all elements in H are in K except a very few.
E(x)=1 has a few numbers of solutions, that is x∈C, where C is the set of co-authors of Erdős and the cardinal number of C is 511.
Now I raise the following question:
Assume that r >1 a positive integer. Is E(x) = r solvable?
In other words Is E(x) onto?
Another important question: What is E(Erdős)?
If the answer is E(Erdős) = 0 because Erdős is not a co-author of himself.
But on the other hand: Erdős is a co-author with some Erdős co-authors, and then E(Erdős) is not zero !
Is it a paradox like that of Russell's paradox?
Best wishes

"The ancient Greeks believed that harmony is the key to beauty and that geometrical proportion is the key to harmony." while, forms and compositions of the deconstructivist architecture appear distorted, dislocated, and fragmented; with the final product being unpredictable and shows controlled chaos.
Since the human brain is prone to seek order and reasoning through proportional systems, why deconstructive architecture became publicly accepted and celebrated in spite of being known for not following basic design principles and harmony rules?

There are some open problems begging for answers, including but not limited to:
· When a specific term was first coined?
· Who did coin a specific term?
· What if the coiner is not a celebrity?
· Did a specific term appear in any classified document first?
· Did a specific term appear in non-technical materials first?
· Did a specific term appear in non-text materials first?
· Was a specific English term borrowed from other languages?
· Does a specific English term tend to be the same in most languages?
Relevant answer
Answer
It seems to me that these questions concern sources, not terminology, whose main problem is its need-oriented nature. As a result, different scholars use different terms for the same thing or similar terms with different meanings. This cannot be avoided and is very common in many disciplines. Regarding sources or paternity, it is often impossible to know for sure who coined something and when it was coined. Especially if the "coiner" is not famous (the famous person is very often a mere propagating agent). However, the main problem is time : the older a term is, the more difficult it is to trace it since written material becomes scarce. The problem is the same with expressions and proverbs, for example "Time is money". In my article on this proverb, I explain why its real coiner was forgotten and replaced in the collective memory with someone more famous (Benjamin Franklin) who, in fact, merely plagiarized a newspaper that contained the saying.

What is remarkable is that the strategy of dumping credit on the world’s banks as organized and celebrated by Paulson, Geithner and Summers in the crisis of 2007-8 (Becker and Morgenstern, 2009), is the program for crises devised and recommended 134 years ago by Walter Bagehot (1873). There was nothing new in their plan, the idea was to dump so much money on the markets that prices would stabilize and the banks recover under the weight of the liquidity. See page 24, section 2 of chapter 2 of Bagehot.
Relevant answer
Answer
Bagehot's dictum was to lend freely against good collateral at a high rate. There was much about the policy interventions in 2008 that either ignored part of this dictum (the high rate, for example, since rates went to zero and even negative in some countries) and the interventions were too slow at times. So, for example, in the case of the U.K. the Bank of England at first declined to add sufficient funds to hit its interest rate target. The regulatory structure in the U.S. made it very difficult for the Fed to lend to where it was needed. The Fed, Treasury and FDIC went beyond Bagehot's dictum by providing capital (via TARP injections) and guaranteeing bank debt (via the FDIC). The good collateral part is interesting because the assets that the Fed took via Maiden Lane I (Bear Stearns), II and III (AIG) were all money good but in this case they did not just lend against the collateral but essentially bought it. Bagehot remains an excellent read, however, and I fear that the move to make banks hold vast amounts of High Quality Liquid Assets to deal with a 30-day run in an adverse scenario ignores his insights.

Youth of today should know how significant the struggles of politics that shined SA under the colonial powers are. How the Human Rights Day; the Freedom Day; Labour Day; June 16, Youth Day; Women’s Day; Heritage Day and the Day of Reconciliation came about. Today SA commemorates and celebrates the hard earned victory of Africanism. People who pioneered and led the multi-campaigns, movements and others even exiled to free SA from the “shackles of Versailles”, some died while others are still living and sharing experiences they had gone through with the struggle.

Very pertinent and worrying issue I must say. These drastic steps to end one's life must be checked immediately to value and utilise human life socially, economically and culturally.
At first the root causes are to be identified area and countrywise. As a whole the fast life and gradually increasing ease and luxury is taking a toll. From the very childhood, more and more expectations, lack of patience are making the 'would be' youth population vulnerable to end their life.
In addition, the grown up, aged and so called professional or successful people, at times, being fed up to cope up with life's speed and expectations choosing the final step.
Mass media impact, social networking and easy communication through digital world are making the situation even more grave.
Early detection of risk, care from near and dear ones and psychiatric counselling are pillars to combat this situation.

The Abrahamic religions were originally formed upon a martial, violent god with a perceptively nasty streak and a tendency towards promoting genocide. There have been developments since and finer impulses have emerged but that nasty god is still there, hovering around like a perplexing bad sore.
Can we not start again and those that require religion to survive life's fraught circumstances or just to have that warm glow that comes from connectiveness with others sit down and devise a better god to worship, one who, at least, celebrates life not death? One who inculcates joy and laughter, not the miseries people often now worship. One genuinely based upon ethics.
As an historian, I particularly deploy their dependence on historical events that never occurred, or are of extremely doubtful provenance, and their added refusal to accept the evidence.

Dear Zhiwen Hu ,
Computer software, or simply software, is a part of a computer system that consists of data or computer instructions, in contrast to the physical hardware from which the system is built. In computer science and software engineering, computer software is all information processed by computer systems, programs and data. Computer software includes computer programs, libraries and related non-executable data, such as online documentation or digital media. Computer hardware and software require each other and neither can be realistically used on its own.

Many celebrities come out to say they didn't /they don't have to go to school or university to become famous and wealthy . This needs educators to reform the education system to prevent potential celebrities drop out of school and in the same time support talented students who are still in schools.

There are also a number of celebrities whose lives were short-lived or deteriorated because of their chosen lifestyle, probably because they did not have enough knowledge to manage their wealth and lifestyle choices. Therefore, being a celebrity without education does not mean that life will be "a bed of roses."

Yes my friend Dr Srivastava is very precise in his answer. Teacher's have shaped this world. They all have been sparklers of knowledge and the civilized world. We owe them a lot. This is the day we must remember them and pay respect from within.
Similarly, In India 5th September is celebrated as Teacher's day in the respect of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishanan a Great teacher and Second President of India. 5th September is his birth anniversary. He wanted that on his birthday it should be celebrated as teacher's day by paying homage to other Great Teachers of India and Bangladesh. Since 1962 we have been celebrating.
Even 05 October since 1994, is celebrated as World Teachers' Day as on this day the anniversary of the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO pact, the recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.

Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Dr. Sheth,
You know the nature of common people.
Most of them through the plastic packets, foam (plastic) plates, plastic glasses etc. in the drain instead of garbage box after their use in festival/ feast/ occasions etc.
Preparation of rules to use compulsorily the biodegradable plates etc. in all festivals or punishment for throwing of plastic packets in drain etc. will not work.
COMPLETE BAN on production of such things is THE ONLY WAY to control their use in India.
Many biodegradable alternatives ( as plate made by Sal leaves) are available in India.
But our politicians may not agree to do it due to the pressure of plastic lobby and some other related reasons, I think.

I'm writing an article on the psychological underpinnings of stalking behavior as it relates to those in the public eye. The publication is regional (New England) and the audience is the psychologist. I appreciate any input. Thanks.
Relevant answer
Answer
The first point I would make is that the emphasis on Celebrity 'victims' misleads the  whole field as it is the John and Jane Doe (the ordinary person ) who is likely to be stalked and have the most  psychological problems coping because they assume only celebrities are stalked.  Secondly, while de Clerambault based his work on the unrequited 'love' of a servant to a person  in a much higher status in the house etc, he only concentrated on heterosexuals and ignored what we would regard as 'gay stalking'. The third is there appears to be racial/cultural differences with some ethnic minorities are likely to be cyberstalked by his/her family rather than stranger or ex-intimates.  Fourthly you need to decide if you want to treat stalking and cyberstalking as the same  or different and whether to use one or both in your study.  Fifthly in a study I am in the process of preparing for submission  show males are likely to be cyberstalked as females.   Good luck with your study   Mike Berry Consultant Clinical Forensic Psychologist, RCSI.
