Introduction
Halloween is celebrated annually on October 31st and has its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. Over centuries, the significance and customs surrounding this holiday have evolved, transforming it into a festive occasion filled with entertainment and creativity in modern society. This paper explores the historical background, the evolution of customs, and the contemporary cultural significance of Halloween.
I. Historical Background
1.1 The Celts and Samhain
The origins of Halloween can be traced back to the 5th century BCE among the Celts. In the Celtic calendar, November 1st marked the beginning of the new year, symbolizing the arrival of winter and the end of summer. To celebrate this moment, the Celts held the festival of Samhain, believing that on this night, the boundary between the living and the dead became blurred, allowing spirits to return to the earthly realm. To ward off these spirits, people would light bonfires and wear costumes.
1.2 Christian Influence
With the spread of Christianity, the church sought to incorporate pagan festivals into Christian traditions. In the 9th century, Pope Gregory IV designated November 1st as All Saints' Day, a day to honor all saints. October 31st became known as All Hallows' Eve, a night of celebration and remembrance for the deceased. This transformation allowed Halloween to gradually intertwine with Christian traditions while retaining many of its Celtic customs.
II. Evolution of Customs
2.1 Traditional Practices
Many of Halloween's customs stem from ancient Celtic beliefs. For instance, lighting bonfires and carving pumpkins (originally turnips) were ways to ward off evil spirits and honor the dead. Families and friends would gather on this night to share food and stories, fostering a sense of closeness.
2.2 Modern Celebrations
By the 20th century, Halloween celebrations became increasingly popular in the United States and other countries. Modern Halloween typically includes activities such as "trick-or-treating," costume parties, and Halloween-themed events. Children dress up in various costumes and go door-to-door collecting candy, while adults engage in social gatherings and decorate their homes to enhance the festive atmosphere.
III. Significance in Contemporary Culture
3.1 Commercialization
Halloween has evolved into a significant commercial holiday. Retailers attract consumers with a wide array of decorations, candy, and costumes, leading Halloween-related spending to surpass that of many traditional holidays. According to statistics, Halloween spending has continued to grow in recent years, making it the second-largest commercial holiday in the United States, following Christmas.
3.2 Social and Cultural Reflection
In contemporary society, Halloween serves not only as a time of celebration but also as a reflection on death and life. Through costumes and festivities, people express their fears, humor, and acceptance of death. Additionally, Halloween provides an opportunity for individuals to showcase their creativity and personality, fostering community engagement and interaction.
Conclusion
As a holiday with deep historical roots, Halloween carries rich cultural and historical significance. From the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain to modern celebrations, Halloween is not just a time for merriment but also a profound contemplation of life and death. As society continues to evolve, the meanings and ways of celebrating Halloween will also change, highlighting the diversity and creativity of human culture.
Enough cannot be done to honour this great author. I call upon researchers to come together and sponsor young African writers who will continue representing our African identity. There isn't enough enthusiasm for our cause: we sit quietly observing new African authors as they adopt Western styles and themes. We want another Okonkwo, and we need more African English.
Hi, I am working on domain adaptation for emotional detection on Hollywood Actor/Actress data and I want its adaptation for Pakistani Actor/Actress picture. Is there any data available online or anyone have, please share... It's urgent I have a research project to do.
A question that is not elaborate by anyone as far as I know, because so far all experiments and more than 100m spent to disprove it have failed.
One answer is that it will leave behind it the idea that gravity is not a detached, autonomous sub-system, manifestation but something embeded in the behavior of the bfabric of the world, i.e it is of more fundamental association to universe's workings than other forces, although it might a special class of force even non standard one.
This, i believe thrvsuccesssorvto GR will incorporste these principles. In this way, it will have a greater chance of success since i believe this was Einstein's most valid assumptions that pushed his work forward, not the most celebrated ones.
The lack of academic integrity has been increasing each year. One of the biggest problems we are seeing in the classroom with student AI use right now is the lack of academic integrity. Can we cope with this movement of ignorance learning? Are we heading towards Carl Sagan's prophecy: a celebration of ignorance?
What is the impact of these celebrations on different economic sectors such as tourism, hospitality, aviation and retail?
How much do tourists and visitors spend on these celebrations, including accommodation, transportation, food and drinks?
Do these celebrations contribute to promoting economic growth, employment and increasing tax revenues in general?

Research has demonstrated time and again that home-cooked traditional dishes are far better for our health and the planet than industrially processed foodstuff. Therefore shouldn't we begin to share or even archive the recipes our grandparents loved to cook, eat, and celebrate life with? Would you share a meal your family cooks?
“Practice what you preach,” is a common saying across the world. Akshay Kumar, however, learnt it the hard way. His endorsement of a pan masala brand despite his statement against the consumption of alcohol and pan Masala left him at the receiving end of his own fandom’s ire, who excoriated him. Even his apology was not good enough. Social media users want him to refrain from surrogate advertisement, a form of advertising which is used to promote regulated products, like cigarettes and alcohol, in the disguise of another product.
https://medium.com/@visheshsharma124/should-celebs-refrain-from-surrogate-advertisement-b54f4f86be32
Surrogate advertising is a form of advertising that is used to promote products which are banned or limited from advertising under government regulations, such as cigarettes and alcohol, via advertising another product produced by the same company in order to raise brand awareness.
Celebrities have a large following and their endorsements can have a significant influence on people's purchasing decisions. When celebrities endorse surrogate products, they are essentially promoting harmful products to their fans, including children and young adults.
Here are some of the reasons why celebrities should refrain from surrogate advertisement:
- Surrogate products are harmful. The products that are typically advertised through surrogate advertising are harmful to health, such as cigarettes, alcohol, and tobacco products. When celebrities endorse these products, they are encouraging their fans to use them, even though they know the risks.
- Surrogate advertising is misleading. Surrogate advertising is designed to mislead consumers into thinking that they are buying a different product, when in reality they are buying a harmful product. Celebrities who endorse surrogate products are complicit in this deception.
- Celebrities have a social responsibility. Celebrities have a large following and their actions can have a significant impact on society. When they endorse harmful products, they are sending a message that it is okay to use those products. This can lead to increased consumption of harmful products and negative health consequences.
Some people argue that celebrities should be free to endorse any product they want, but it is important to remember that surrogate products are harmful and that celebrities have a social responsibility. By refraining from surrogate advertisement, celebrities can help to protect their fans and promote public health.
In addition to the ethical concerns, there are also legal risks associated with surrogate advertising. In many countries, surrogate advertising is regulated or even banned. Celebrities who endorse surrogate products could face fines, legal action, and damage to their reputation.
Overall, there is no good reason for celebrities to endorse surrogate products. It is harmful, misleading, and could have legal consequences. Celebrities should use their influence to promote positive messages and encourage their fans to make healthy choices.

Why the requirement for holidays in honor of God (Easter, Tabernacles, etc.) and detailed definitions of the celebration algorithm contained only in the Old Testament, but not in the New?
For more than a century, people all over the world are celebrating March 8 as a special day for women. What bothers you about the women around you, what do you want to change? Tell me.
I need to discover how many people publicated articles, thesis or dissertations about a music celebrity to gather material in order to request them honoris causa doctorate at my institution.
I recently was browsing a popular researcher benchmarking website looking at peer review activity. I saw that some top ranked reviewers had completed over 1000 reviews, just in the last 12 months! This is not to mention papers they have authored and, presumably, sleeping occasionally. I concede that I am not as efficient as some researchers, but that seems like a lot.
If someone were doing a job like driving us around in a taxi, would we celebrate the driver who drives for 23.5 hours a day? Or alternatively, the driver who gets 100 jobs done by driving 100 miles an hour and cutting the corners everywhere they go? Is there a comparison that can be made, or not really?
Hi everyone, I am currently working on several articles focused on social media influencers. I am interested in the similarities and differences between the emerging literature on influencers and the traditional long standing research on celebrity endorsements in advertising.
Two questions for you.
What are some of the best definitions of a celebrity (outside of Kamins (1989)?
What is the best definition of a social media influencers?
I am more invested in citations and published definitions than in conceptual discussions.
Thanks

As we move forward to dismantle racism within education, it is important to identify and share effective strategies to elevate the curriculum to a higher standard that recognizes and celebrates global diversity.
Professor Nicolae Florea, our former colleague, was celebrated by the Romanian Academy on his 100th birthday.
During the homage session, held on June 7, Professor Nicolae Florea was praised for his merits as head of the school of soil classification and mapping, for capitalizing of information on soil and environmental resources in Romania and for his contribution to the development of Romanian education, to the training of specialists in the field of soil science.

In Academia, we have gotten used to dialogs like this one:
A- Look, that person over there, is very important, a genius.
B- Yes? Why?
A- Published in Science and Nature.
B- Ohh! And what about?
A- Have no idea …. But man! Science and Nature!... what a genius.
B- Yes…. What a genius.
The repercussion of a scientific idea, probably now more than ever, will depend on what journal the idea is published. It seems there are no alternatives. If you have a good idea, it must be published in a top-ranked journal. Otherwise, your idea, and you, are not perceived as good as you may think or deserve. Consciously or unconsciously, journals are perceived as something more relevant than the ideas they publish. They are perceived as labels of quality.
The higher the ranking of the journal you publish in, the better your idea (and you) will be celebrated by colleagues. That (weird, unjust, and even unethical) paradigm has been dominating the international scientific community for many years in Academia. But what is more important?: the journal, the idea, or the authors? There seems to be a great deal of confusion around that.
For many (most?) colleagues and institutions, counting the number of papers in top-ranked journals still is the best way to identify the best scientists that should be perceived as role models within the scientific community. Some weigh also the leading role of the authors in their papers, some weigh the number of citations received. But the critical factor seems to be always in what top-journal you have published and how many times you did it.
However, there are disciplines that seem to be outside this loop. Often, colleagues from the Social Sciences tell me they do not worry about international top-ranked journals as much as we (in Biological Sciences) do. I´m sure it doesn’t work the same in different countries, as I see some researchers from the Soc Sc frequently publishing in top-ranked journals.
So, do journals really determine what ideas will prevail over others? Is this problem properly addressed by the international scientific community? What alternatives do scientists have? Join the discussion and share your ideas!
Celebrity endorsements are common across lifestyle products even basic things as groceries are being endorsed by celebrities, but when it comes to investing does endorsement of a mutual fund scheme or a broking service or an insurance product by a celebrity (specifically from sports, music or cinema) change the investors /buyers behavior towards such product. Does celebrity endorsements have relevance when it comes to personal financial planning.
In Kolkata, India, we are celebrating the biggest community festival of the land. Its called Durga Puja. There are plenty of restrictions but I don't know how beneficial that would be for stopping this pandemic. Should we stop celebrating community festivals, at least for the time being? Scientists and researchers are kindly requested to share their opinions.
I have collected survey from the fandom, and done a interview with an idol celebrity, to show their perspectives on femininity and queerbaiting, implying and reflection in performance. They are all from one certain girls idol group’s popular music singing dancing concerts. At the next stage, I want to analysis the Dance, makeup and lyric. It can help to promote every point they mentioned. So what method is suitable to do that? Multimodal discourse analysis or content analysis? Could you please give me some relevant researches for me to learn from their studies?
Imitation of research ideas is a common crime in academics. A relatively less reputed researcher has always the possibility that his/her research ideas might be imitated. If he/she submits a very good paper to one of the most celebrated journals of his/her discipline, the paper might be desk-rejected without citing any reason. After a couple months later on one good morning, the researcher might find that almost a similar paper has been published in a journal of similar rank and the day becomes a very bad indeed!
What should be the right strategy for a researcher having a relatively small size of network for protecting imitation of his/her research ideas from people possessing much larger network? Should he/she go for forging into a tacit agreement with the author / co / associate editor(s) of the journal knowing fully well that it is also a academic crime?
I have provided questions on I hope a great range of topics, but not any so far on one of my great loves-Literature. I know many of you share my love.
This poem is considered the best of Rupert Brooke's limited production, as he died young, like Byron, of fever in war. But what is wrong with this celebrated work?

If I should die, think only this of me:
That there’s some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England. There shall be
In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;
A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,
Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam,
A body of England’s, breathing English air,
Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.
And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.

"Advent" means "arrival", this is the time of the four weeks before Christmas, the feast on which, according to Christian tradition, Jesus is born. Today, the religious background is often pushed back by the Christmas market, hot tea, Christmas cookies, and the shops try to encourage customers to buy Christmas presents through a rich offer. Is that the case with you - or is it completely different?
It gladdens my heart to wish all the Christian researchers, especially those I am opportune to share in their knowledge and findings, a happy Christmas celebration. May the good Lord assist us to establishing new findings that are of immense importance to humanity. Enjoy my colleagues. Engr. Dr. Kingsley C. Nnakwo.

Hello! I am a student from Russia. Now i am working on my thesis on factor that affect income of models in fashion industry. The UN Human Rights charter is a celebrated document. UN as an institution has done so much to help diffuse near war situations and post war reconciliation and healing. However, there is a feeling among the world community that the UN with some of the key allies have maintained a double standards and have significantly dented the primacy of rights over who and which powerful nation leads the motivation and its auxiliary infrastructure.
Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavonic Literature Day
Today, in Bulgaria are celebrated the brothers Cyril and Methodius, who created the Slavic alphabet and translated Bulgarian books.
I want to congratulate everyone who uses this alphabet.
Research has demonstrated that few talented people are sufficiently well known and revered-many songs have been composed, operas written (far more than people imagine) but the number of celebrated composers is tiny. Many pictures are painted, images constructed and sculpture made but few artists are genuinely remembered. Why?
Dear Researchers.
Be it be a small celebration or a large festival, one needs to plan and ensure that natural resources is not affected viz. Water Air Soil Greens Etc.
Climate change effects are smothered
GHGs are reduced,
Every celebration should make sure that efforts are afforded in upgrading the elements and pass the message to the communities.
Festival Heads to ensure the above done at all times .
For eg.. municipal sewage waste can be hygienically co composted with other bio mass and used as manure Etc. Offerings to diety should not be wasted.
Follow concept of Smart Campus Eco conduct in festivals as given in attachment..
Well wishes.

I have spotted successful leaders and politicians who are celebrated without degree (e.g. Wiston Churchill, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Jacob Zuma and many more) . Some are of the opinion that they became rich out of luck , while others are of the opinion that they became successful because they have great mentors. My question:
Do you think success require higher formal education?
Can someone with the zeal to succeed get to the top without University degree?
For decades, scholars and think tanks have debated the effectiveness of aid in reducing poverty. In this debate, we will build on previous arguments about the effectiveness and value of aid, but focus on its role in disaster risk reduction and post-disaster reconstruction and recovery.
Scholars, think-tanks, celebrities, and politicians have claimed aid is crucial to prevent famines, diseases, and deaths. They argue that donors’ money can be used to solve basic problems in areas like sanitation, vaccination, education, housing, and infrastructure. Aid can also be used to fund monitoring activities and learn from interventions. More importantly, they contend that traditional markets alone cannot resolve housing and infrastructure deficits. They note that the poor are often stuck in feedback loops that economists call “poverty traps.” In other words, millions are poor precisely because they live in poverty. Slum dwellers, for instance, find it difficult to escape poverty because they pay proportionally more for services and infrastructure than wealthier citizens. Foreign aid is needed to break these vicious cycles and replace them with virtuous ones that make vulnerable people more resilient. For defenders, the real problem is lack of funds, not present mechanisms of aid. From their view, people use criticisms of aid merely as excuses to justify not donating money.
On the other hand, critics often find too much money is “wasted” on aid. For them, initiatives seldom produce positive long-term change and—in many cases—even create more damaging than desirable results. They contend that donors’ money is spent on band-aid solutions that rarely have long-term impacts. They argue that aid is largely controlled by political agendas, feeds on forms of neo-colonialism, focuses too much on technology transfer, creates dependency, and bypasses legitimate governments and authorities. They contend that aid is often based on centralized schemes produced by over-confident and idealistic decision-makers with little knowledge of what is needed “on the ground.” For them, aid is often driven by ideology, and lacks the performance incentives and accountability mechanisms found in competitive (and typically “more efficient”) markets.
For this debate, we have invited two internationally recognized experts in humanitarian assistance and interventions to defend each viewpoint.
Our panellists will present their most persuasive arguments over the next ten days, but the outcome of the debate rests in your hands. Don’t hesitate to vote immediately—you can always change your mind. Better yet, once you have cast your vote, add your voice to the debate and explain your decision.

Many persons are born with nice face or body image...but they are unsatisfied about themselves, so they trying to be look like movie stars, singers, sport famous players or other celebrities....by doing Botox, dermal filling, golden threads, rhinoplasty....in order to reach that image....as we know these procedures cost too much money, so does it deserve to be done??

To me, an Erdös number seems like a harmless piece of trivia, akin to having the same astrological sign as some celebrity or sleeping in the same hotel room that a famous person had once slept in. I realize that a network of linked Erdös numbers may have interesting topological properties, but other than that, do they show anything of general significance?
"The ancient Greeks believed that harmony is the key to beauty and that geometrical proportion is the key to harmony." while, forms and compositions of the deconstructivist architecture appear distorted, dislocated, and fragmented; with the final product being unpredictable and shows controlled chaos.
Since the human brain is prone to seek order and reasoning through proportional systems, why deconstructive architecture became publicly accepted and celebrated in spite of being known for not following basic design principles and harmony rules?
There are some open problems begging for answers, including but not limited to:
· When a specific term was first coined?
· Who did coin a specific term?
· What if the coiner is not a celebrity?
· Did a specific term appear in any classified document first?
· Did a specific term appear in non-technical materials first?
· Did a specific term appear in non-text materials first?
· Was a specific English term borrowed from other languages?
· Does a specific English term tend to be the same in most languages?
What is remarkable is that the strategy of dumping credit on the world’s banks as organized and celebrated by Paulson, Geithner and Summers in the crisis of 2007-8 (Becker and Morgenstern, 2009), is the program for crises devised and recommended 134 years ago by Walter Bagehot (1873). There was nothing new in their plan, the idea was to dump so much money on the markets that prices would stabilize and the banks recover under the weight of the liquidity. See page 24, section 2 of chapter 2 of Bagehot.
It is seen that some of the Indian companies use foreign models/celebrities to promote their products in press and electronic India. This may be the case in some of the developing countries too. Can I have inputs from the researchers on this issue.
Youth of today should know how significant the struggles of politics that shined SA under the colonial powers are. How the Human Rights Day; the Freedom Day; Labour Day; June 16, Youth Day; Women’s Day; Heritage Day and the Day of Reconciliation came about. Today SA commemorates and celebrates the hard earned victory of Africanism. People who pioneered and led the multi-campaigns, movements and others even exiled to free SA from the “shackles of Versailles”, some died while others are still living and sharing experiences they had gone through with the struggle.

I am constrained to deviate from my normal line of questions due to the distressing news that a 15 year old girl committed suicide due to the fear of being punished by her mother. Cases of murder, murder-suicide, rape and gang-rape are now common across the globe; across income and racial groups; among celebrities, the poor, the successful, academics, top business people; just name. Is it possible for society to stem the tide; what measures can individuals take

Many celebrities come out to say they didn't /they don't have to go to school or university to become famous and wealthy . This needs educators to reform the education system to prevent potential celebrities drop out of school and in the same time support talented students who are still in schools.
I have done a survey to see if age affects peoples perceptions of brachycephalic dogs becoming more popular via social media/ and whether theres a difference in (correlation) between under 50's who use SM more and over 50's.
It asks questions such as age category as shown above, gender, whether they think celebrities influence purchase choice, what influenced them to buy a dog, etc.
I am lost as to what test to use can someone link me a YT video or something. I've googled lots, looked at lots of flowcharts but cannot get my head round it.

- A common refrain I get from my patients: The doctor did not even touch me but ordered a battery of tests.
- Is the touch-feel era of medicine over? Is it just an old-school lament? Is this demise to be celebrated? Is it indicative of better patient satisfaction? Does not touching the patient where it matters lead to better communication skills? Is the patient less than than her/his disease? Do hospitalized patients appreciate waves of consultants from different specialization attending them just by going through and inserting notes into the case sheet? Is there a muse of medicine? What does it take to unlock the power of Rx? Is Rx written by the new generations of doctors? Do they understand why or why not?
- Am I hallucinating? Or is this a genuine concern? Or a wake-up call? Do clinical skills really not matter? Do they contribute to clinical analysis? Do they chip in something that technology cannot?
- Do clinical skills matter at the research level?
- What is this old-fashioned concept of "my patients"? What does "my" signify?
Dear Prof. I celebrate your projects.

The Abrahamic religions were originally formed upon a martial, violent god with a perceptively nasty streak and a tendency towards promoting genocide. There have been developments since and finer impulses have emerged but that nasty god is still there, hovering around like a perplexing bad sore.
Can we not start again and those that require religion to survive life's fraught circumstances or just to have that warm glow that comes from connectiveness with others sit down and devise a better god to worship, one who, at least, celebrates life not death? One who inculcates joy and laughter, not the miseries people often now worship. One genuinely based upon ethics.
As an historian, I particularly deploy their dependence on historical events that never occurred, or are of extremely doubtful provenance, and their added refusal to accept the evidence.
