Does the application of generative artificial intelligence and Big Data Analytics technologies enable the improvement of computerized Business Continuity Management support systems?
BCM systems, i.e., operating according to the Business Continuity Management concept, consist of managing business continuity. The implementation of Business Continuity Management in an enterprise is an important part of taking anti-crisis measures. Under Business Continuity Management, an organization, business entity, company, enterprise, financial or public institution takes steps to ensure that its critical business functions are available to customers, suppliers and regulators in the event of a crisis. Business Continuity Management is the concept of managing an organization, including taking the actions that an organizational unit must perform to ensure the continuity of its business. Depending on what type of entity it is, this will include continuity in the flow of data, raw materials and/or liquidity. In Polish corporate jargon, you may come across a situation to refer to this function as "CDN" which simply means "continuity will follow."
The purpose of Business Continuity Management is to build mechanisms to protect companies from the negative impact of disruptions, so that if a crisis occurs, business processes can continue. Business Continuity Management is not a process that a business unit implements during a failure, disruption or disaster just refers to activities that are carried out on a daily basis. This plan of action is aimed at eliminating or reducing the risk of an emergency, crisis situation and maintaining readiness for immediate response should the said crisis situation occur.
Ensuring the continuity of the operation of an economic entity or institution is one of the priority tasks of participants, including companies and enterprises operating in different types of markets: financial, logistics, suppliers of raw materials, recipients of finished goods, etc. The special role of ensuring business continuity in the context of the effective functioning of economic entities concerns institutions that are participants in financial systems, including, among others, commercial banks that co-create what is referred to as the "bloodstream of the economy."
In a situation of economic crisis in many companies and enterprises there is an escalation of various types of problems and an increase in risks. In crisis situations, the level of risk and likelihood of business interruption increases. Business interruption causes a spiral of consequences, resulting in a negative reaction from stakeholders and having an adverse impact on society. The consequence can be a lowering of the company's reputation, diminished value and brand. The consequence can also be a deterioration of the company's valuation by the market and rating agencies. This type of situation can also generate difficulties in raising the financial capital necessary for the continued development of the business entity. Besides, Business Continuity Management is part of corporate management. Accordingly, Business Continuity Management is a set of good practices providing guidelines for redesigning the processes of manufacturing products and providing services in such a way as to increase the organization's resilience to the occurrence of harmful disruptions of interrupted processes and incurring losses.
In recent years, the implementation of new ICT, Internet and Industry 4.0/5.0 communication technologies, including generative artificial intelligence and Big Data Analytics technologies to business entities contributes to increasing the efficiency of processes carried out within various spheres of business activity. The aforementioned technologies also support the management processes of companies, enterprises, financial or public institutions. The application of generative artificial intelligence and Big Data Analytics technologies makes it possible to improve computerized support systems for business continuity management processes.
The key issues of opportunities and threats to the development of artificial intelligence technology are described in my article below:
OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE APPLICATIONS AND THE NEED FOR NORMATIVE REGULATION OF THIS DEVELOPMENT
I described the applications of Big Data technologies in sentiment analysis, business analytics and risk management in my co-authored article:

What is the impact of the development of applications and information systems based on artificial intelligence technology on labor markets in specific industries and sectors of the economy?
Since the release of an intelligent chatbot built on the ChatGPT language model on the Internet in November 2021, the scale of ongoing discussions on the topic of the impact of the development of artificial intelligence technology on labor markets has increased again. Each successive technological revolution has largely generated changes in labor markets. The increase in the scale of automation of manufacturing processes carried out as part of business operations was motivated by the reduction of operational personnel costs resulting from hired personnel. Automation of manufacturing processes, including processes of production and offering services, may also have reduced the level of personnel operational risk. As a result, companies, firms and, in recent years, financial institutions and public entities, through the implementation of ICT, Internet and Industry 4.0/5.0 technologies in various business processes, are improving the efficiency of business processes and increasing the economic profitability of these processes. In each of the previous four technological revolutions, in spite of changing technical solutions and emerging new technologies, analogous processes of using these new technological advances to increase the scale of automation of economic processes worked. In the era of the current fourth or fifth technological revolution, in which a special role is played by the development of generative artificial intelligence technology, applications of this technology in the development of robotics, building autonomous robots, increasing the scale of cooperation between humans and highly intelligent androids is also making a new appearance and another stage of increasing the scale of automation of manufacturing processes. However, what from the point of view of entrepreneurs thanks to the applied new technologies, the achieved automation of production processes is an increase in the efficiency of manufacturing processes, increasing the scale of economic profitability, etc., is, on the other hand, generating serious effects on labor markets, including, among other things, a reduction in employment in certain jobs. The largest scale of applied automation of economic processes and, at the same time, the largest scale of employment reduction was and is generated for those jobs that are characterized by a high level of repetition of certain activities. The activities carried out by employees that are characterized by a high level of repetitiveness were usually the first ones that could be and have been replaced by technology in a relatively simple way. this is also the case today in the era of the fifth technological revolution, in which highly advanced intelligent information systems and autonomous androids equipped with generative artificial intelligence technologies contribute to the reduction of employment in companies and enterprises where humans are replaced by such technology. A particular manifestation of these trends are the group layoffs announced starting in 2022 of employees, including IT specialists in technology companies that the aforementioned advanced technologies of Industry 4.0/5.0 are also creating, developing and implementing into their economic processes carried out in the aforementioned technology companies. Recently, there have been a lot of different kinds of predictive analysis results in the media suggesting which occupations and professions previously performed by people are most at risk of increasing unemployment in the future due to the development of business applications of generative artificial intelligence technologies. In the first months of ChatGPT's release, the Internet was dominated by a number of publications suggesting that a significant portion of jobs in many industries will be replaced by AI technology over the next few decades. Then, after another few months of the development of applications of intelligent chatbots, but also the revelation of many controversies and risks associated with it such as the development of cybercrime and disinformation on the Internet, this dominant opinion began to change in the direction of slightly less pessimistic. these less pessimistic opinions suggest that the technology of generative artificial intelligence does not necessarily deprive the majority of employees in companies and enterprises of their jobs only the majority of employees will be forced to use these new tools, applications, information systems equipped with AI technology as part of their work. Besides, the scale of the impact of new technologies on labor markets will probably not be the same across industries and sectors of the economy.
I described the key issues of opportunities and threats to the development of artificial intelligence technology in my article below:
OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE APPLICATIONS AND THE NEED FOR NORMATIVE REGULATION OF THIS DEVELOPMENT

Will the combination of AI technology, Big Data Analytics and the high power of quantum computers allow the prediction of multi-faceted, complex macroprocesses?
Will the combination of generative artificial intelligence technology, Big Data Analytics and the high power of quantum computers make it possible to forecast multi-faceted, complex, holistic, long-term economic, social, political, climatic, natural macroprocesses?
Generative artificial intelligence technology is currently being used to carry out various complex activities, to solve tasks intelligently, to implement multi-criteria processes, to create multi-faceted simulations and generate complex dynamic models, to creatively perform manufacturing processes that require processing large sets of data and information, etc., which until recently only humans could do. Recently, there have been attempts to create computerized, intelligent analytical platforms, through which it would be possible to forecast complex, multi-faceted, multi-criteria, dynamically changing macroprocesses, including, first of all, long-term objectively realized economic, social, political, climatic, natural and other macroprocesses. Based on the experience to date from research work on the analysis of the development of generative artificial intelligence technology and other technologies typical of the current Fourth Technological Revolution, technologies categorized as Industry 4.0/5.0, the rapidly developing various forms and fields of application of AI technologies, it is clear that the dynamic technological progress that is currently taking place will probably increase the possibilities of building complex intelligent predictive models for multi-faceted, complex macroprocesses in the years to come. The current capabilities of generative artificial intelligence technology in the field of improving forecasting models and carrying out forecasts of the formation of specific trends within complex macroprocesses are still limited and imperfect. The imperfection of forecasting models may be due to the human factor, i.e., their design by humans, the determination by humans of the key criteria and determinants that determine the functioning of certain forecasting models. In a situation where in the future forecasting models will be designed and improved, corrected, adapted to changing, for example, environmental conditions at each stage by artificial intelligence technology then they will probably be able to be much more perfect than the currently functioning and built forecasting models. Another shortcoming is the issue of data obsolescence and data limitation. There is currently no way to connect an AI-equipped analytical platform to the entire resources of the Internet, taking into account the processing of all the data and information contained in the Internet in real time. Even today's fastest quantum computers and the most advanced Big Data Analytics systems do not have such capabilities. However, it is not out of the question that in the future the dynamic development of generative artificial intelligence technology, the ongoing competition among leading technology companies developing technologies for intelligent chatbots, robots equipped with artificial intelligence, creating intelligent control systems for machines and processes, etc., will lead to the creation of general artificial intelligence, i.e. advanced, general artificial intelligence that will be capable of self-improvement. However, it is important that the said advanced general advanced artificial intelligence does not become fully autonomous, does not become completely independent, does not become out of the control of man, because there would be a risk of this highly advanced technology turning against man which would involve the creation of high levels of risks and threats to man, including the risk of losing the possibility of human existence on planet Earth.
I have described the key issues of opportunities and threats to the development of artificial intelligence technology in my article below:
OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE APPLICATIONS AND THE NEED FOR NORMATIVE REGULATION OF THIS DEVELOPMENT

Supply chain management remains as a critical source of competitive advantage for corporations, sectors and regions. Therefore, one may assume that supply chains as entities learn overtime, i.e., supply chain players learn how to collectively create/incorporate new knowledge into their business processes and improve the way they jointly operate to serve customers.
The fundamental questions are: Do supply chains really learn? If so, do you have real examples on how these entities learn overtime?
Relevant answer
Answer
Yes, supply chains can learn and get better over time. They use past experiences and data to improve how they work. For example, they might use smart technology to better predict how much product to have in stock or to make deliveries more efficiently. It's like learning from mistakes and successes to become more effective and responsive.

At the moment I am working in a medium-sized company with the modeling of existing processes. On the whole, this works quite well for many business processes. I only have problems with the machines. In production, the machines are ultimately important for quality, efficiency and effectiveness. They must be "built into" the processes. So far I haven't found much in the literature on the subject. Can you give me any hints or help on this?
Relevant answer
Answer
I can give some examples of how I approached this situation. In the 1990s I worked for the HP MDD division. We had 3-D CAD products for mechanical engineers and a PLM product with a workflow module. I was a developer on the workflow module, did process automation consulting with customers and spent over 3 years on workflow standards with the WfMC and OMG.
The approach that worked in many situations was to have a task that reflected a machining/manufacturing step in the machining process. The successful conclusion of that task was often recorded in one of 2 ways: either a person entered something in a system tacking the completion or sensors would automatically note the completion. There was often a series of tasks to cover the steps involved in completing an inventoried part. Testing tasks for insuring quality are also inserted as a gate to mark an approved batch of parts/products, especially in a regulated industry such as medical devices.
The solution would then involve creating an integration to the systems tracking manufacturing step completion and/or quality testing results. The data from the other systems is used in a branching task to direct the process forward or to deal with unacceptable parts/products. In some cases it will not be possible to automate some tests or quality controls and a person will need to approve to move the process forward.
When parts/products are manufactured in batches or lots the standard approach is to have a separate process instance associated with each lot. My experience has that these processes have many parallel and concurrent tasks.

For doing organisational change based on the stimulus of change, how does an organisation forms it's change objetive (i.e. what does it wants to achieve by changing/reengineering itself). And how does it identify the parameters/lenses through which the business processes need to be reviewed for reenigneering?
Relevant answer
Answer
Based on the stimuli of change (External or Internal), how does an organisation forms it's change objective ?
Following steps can be followed:
  1. Based on the external & internal stimuli / drivers of change, organization collectively can chart out their future state (where they want to be)
  2. Assess their current state
  3. Brainstorm internally (sometimes externally through consultants) on short, mid & long-term changes to bridge the gaps between current & future state (those changes need to "hold water" in the presence of those stimuli / drivers mentioned)
  4. Then the organization can perform impact analyses of those changes. Adjust / prioritize the changes accordingly to minimize risk & cost and to improve the speed to reach the future state
  5. The organization then can list down the change objectives - side by side with the changes / change activities, benefits & how those benefits translating into reaching the future state.

Now - a - days Workflows (WF) (a visual structure of a process (sequence of activities)) are designed and utilized in different types of industries like medicine, business, software. After some research, I came to an understanding that most of the WF specification languages are designed for business processes for example BPMN.
What are other types of efficient WF design styles (which don't revolve around BUSINESS DOMAIN)?
Relevant answer
Answer
Pardon my late response.
I have used BPMN to model cooking & baking. The semantics of BPMN give us the ability to create expert models quickly and easily. The downside is having such rich iconography, we can quickly surpass the ability of the reader to follow. Please find attached a simple flow depicting part of a bakery operation. The iconography used is simple for the average modeler, but the icons for multi-instance, sequential as well as the difference between user and manual can be confusing. If you are using BPMN for this kind of depiction, I recommend you take into account the comprehension level of the user. This is the 2nd most difficult concept for the analysts I teach.
Feel free to contact me directly to discuss the mater further.

As we know the executions of any business process is not possible without its data. In particular process designers have to know data scope (data model) as well as the way data is processed during BP execution.
BPMN does not allow us to include all the information about data structures nor data flows.
What in your opinion is the best way to show above mentioned data properties in business process diagrams?
Relevant answer
Answer
It is right that BPMN is not for representing data structure model, but I understand about the need to represent data dynamics. Every data object represented on BPMN model is just a data view of a structure data model. However, that data view could be showed through annotation object but it's less formalized. There also are some software where is allowed link BPMN model with data structure. For example Visual Paradigm.

In practice, almost every time people start to describe integration tools, databases or other technical data processing tools/methods instead of data flows. However, in order to support data-driven business processes, data flows should be designed first, without technical implementation.
I would be grateful for any theory or practice oriented ideas, models, frameworks or hints about papers that deal with describing data flows.

Advanced technologies of digitalization and automation of data processing first find their application in business. Then also in public institutions can be introduced including in the field of e-governance. This also applies to Big Data database technologies, which is applicable in various sectors of the economy, but due to the high investment costs of implementing this technology in the business processes of business entities, so far only large corporations and larger enterprises can afford such technologies. However, in the future, investment costs of implementing tech technologies into business processes should decrease and processing technologies and data collection in Big Data database systems should be available also for smaller companies, including business entities of the SME sector.
I invite you to the discussion.
Relevant answer
Answer
The Big Data database technology is finding more and more applications in business.
Multi-criteria processing of huge data sets collected in Big Data database systems allows preparing reports in a relatively short time according to given criteria.
The report development time depends mainly on the computing power of Big Data servers.
In processes of complex economic and financial analyzes, risk management, etc. for the purpose of determining the economic and financial situation of business entities, they are increasingly carried out in computerized analytical platforms of the Business Intelligence type.
Perhaps in the future, artificial intelligence will also be involved in this field of analytics.
In some countries, IT companies have been operating for several years, developing the Big Data database technology for commercial and business purposes.
It is only a matter of time to combine these various analytical and database technologies in computing cloud computing.
In view of the above, the current question is: In which sectors of the economy, in which types of companies and corporations will be the most dynamically developed technologies for analyzing large collections of information in Big Data database systems
Please, answer, comments. I invite you to the discussion.

Hi all !
I'm currently working in a project at public health sector to enable and improve their Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) process regarding the public policies which have to be executed in conjunction with cities and states.
We already modeled their current process (activities level) using the BPMN 2.0 (process modeling notation) standards .
Now We are looking for similar models to compare and improve the current process model in order to lead us a better "to be" model.
We organized the whole activities currently executed here in 7 main process:
To Plan the Execution of M&E
To Manage Execution of M&E (Plan)
To Engage Stakeholders and Participants
To Collect and Qualify Data for M&E
To Monitor the Implementation of Public Policy
To Evaluate Public Policy
To Communicate the Results of M&E
Most of the documentation about M&E are referring to M&E models, plannings, cycles, approach...We did not find anything that describe "activities level" (which activities have to be done) of M&E or/and a Business Process view of a "M&E".
Does anyone have any indication of articles or models (BPMN standards) that could be shared or help us in the challenge?
Rgds, Marco

Answer
Thanks Jurgen !!!
First of all, I mistyped the acronym "M&A" ... it is "M&E" (Monitoring and Evaluation).
PCF is a great tool and reference... I'm researching the PCF models but I did not find one that fits for "public policy" cycle life...most of the models are centered in industry and services view/levels.
Public Policy are mainly composed by 3 main complex process (or macroprocess).... "Formulation", "Implementation" and Evaluation ( M&E which includes Monitoring the implementation of Public Policy and Evaluate social impacts produced with public policy for example)...
I'll continuing to research in PCF and others references
Thanks again for the suggestion !

I am studying the importance of 'context' for Enterprise Information Systems. In most systems 'context' (this is the social dynamics in which a business process functions) is captured in metadata. This is a very limited way of capturing context, for it is impossible to capture social dynamics that way. I really would like to have the opinion of fellow scientists on this matter. Are there instuments, methods, or systems that allow for capturing social contexts? Here are some practice-oriented resources. I am using Damello's book for process mapping in my course.
The Basics of Process Mapping, 2nd ed., by Robert Damello, published by Productivity Press, ISBN: 9781563273766.
We use mostly Visio for diagramming processes, but I add a smattering of concept mapping tools (like XMind from XMind.net). We use some of the standard objects in Visio, but I also have students create their own objects and stencils.
We mostly use Excel for process metrics, but most of the students could also use the major statistics packages to analyze process metrics that need a more sophisticated treatment (R, STATA, SPSS, SAS).
I also use Susan Page's book for a pithy introductory coverage of BPI aimed at processes in mid-sized organizations.
The Power of Business Process Improvement, 1st ed., 2010, by Susan Page, published by AMACOM, ISBN: 9780814414781.
Employers like the education our students are getting using these resources. I have had several students go to work directly in business process management / improvement jobs ($40K-$60K starting salaries) at large companies in Arkansas. These companies are coming back routinely to recruit more.
Best wishes for success in your endeavor!

We know that business processes must have indicators. In a BPM initiative, after identifying the context and modeling as is process, we need to perform the process analysis phase. Phase important for we design the process improvement, transformation or innovation.
Do you use or are there indicators to know whether this analysis was done well?
How to evaluate if the process analysis was properly conducted in accordance with the customer and/or the organization goals?
Regards.
Relevant answer
Answer
I agree with the above responses and my experience is that any process work must be tied to measurable business outcomes. With these comes the quantitative aspects of the opportunity or challenge and this info can be gathered through various mechanisms. The business outcomes should in the motivation model link to the organisational objectives in some way. On the qualitative side, the customer will articulate their requirements (voice of the customer / customer journey) which can be changed into measurable requirements, these measurable requirements could then be aligned to the organisational objectives.

I think this is what we call service composition. My data is related to learner preferences and from that I have to derive services. Learner preferences are stored in Ontology so do I have to choose semantic web services or web services and what is the difference between both of them?
Thanks
Relevant answer
Answer
Using semantic web services you are able to "give" a meaning to the service and messages. This permits you to exploit other semantic services and be compatible with them interchanging semantic data. Using web services without semantic layer, you can exchange messages using only a syntactic interoperability.
The choice  depends on what you need to do and what are the requirements.

The process perspective and the systems perspective are very different. System dynamics modelling is appropriate for situations that are too complex and too dynamic to model as processes. Nevertheless, there have been some papers that attempt to apply system dynamics in BPR, e.g. Ashayeri, J., R. Keij, and A. Bröker. Big Data and Analytics are focused on transforming big quantities of data into usable information. I believe this information will only have value in the context of an appropriate adjustment of related business processes since that is the only way of moving the information into action. Thoughts? How do you organize the connection? What dos that mean for BPM?
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Mathias,
As you have indicated, Data has been anointed as the Oil of the new millennium. Modern strategists have elevated Data to the status of 4th factor of production after land, labor and capital. Given the volume, velocity and variety of data, knowledge extraction from new-age data has a complexity, which one would not have associated with data processing a decade back.
Before mapping data to business and planning BPM, one needs to organize data along a few vectors. The vectors are:
1. Location-aware data
2. Person-aware data   &
3. Context-aware data
Then for each of these streams, one has to look at what are the key factors and sub-factors that drive data collection, processing and storage. Some of the factors are:
1. Cost [Storage Cost, OPEX Cost, TCO, resource cost etc]
2. Technology [Are you going to use cloud for data storage]
3. Speed of processing [Data throughput Management]
4. Value adds from additionally processed data [like Visuality of data]
Mapping these vectors together would be useful in understanding the complete nuances of modern data and its involved processing.

Business process simulation captures and models discrete aspects of systems' behavior while System Dynamics captures the continuous aspect. It is desirable in many systems that these aspects are combined into a feedback relationship. How can we accomplish this?
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi Veerendra,
Any control theory basically applies to sets of differential equations, known as State-Space equations/model/method, derived by applying theoretical equations, curve fitting, interpolation, stochastic or some other methods from any empirical n-dimensional lookup table. Consequently, making these lookup table models out of your system is crucial. The variables could be as physical as time and temperature, to financial or process related, as long as ones depend/are related to the others. Then, you can apply software, such as Matlab/Simulink (trial versions are available) or dBASE, and some control theory knowledge for your non-linear MIMO (multi-input multi-output) system feedback control design.
References:
Brogan's "Modern Control Theory" (ISBN-13: 978-0135897638 ISBN-10: 0135897637 Edition: 3rd) is a good, basic feedback control design textbook reference for such systems.
Maybe, Anderson's "Business Economics and Finance with MATLAB, GIS, and Simulation Models" (ISBN: 1-58488-348-0 http://www.mathworks.com/support/books/book48464.html) will be more suitable for your problem.
However, a shortcut could be found in most of control design software "help" manuals or recorded Webinars, such as Mathworks' Matlab/Simulink library references (by the way, I am not associated with Mathworks' other than being longtime user of Matlab and Simulink for my electronic control designs, so that I am more familiar with this than other similar software):
Good luck with your design.

The use of workflow is not limited to only software applications. It should be included in every business process automation not limited to any domain. Even processes such as patent filing, PhD research thesis evaluation & submission, production, manufacturing, e-commerce, recruitment, cloud computing, embedded systems etc should facilitate the use of workflows.
Relevant answer
Answer
The workflow paradigm, early adopted in the business context is also useful for modeling scientific applications on multiple science domains and allowing flexible mappings between the application abstractions and the underlying computing infrastructures namely large distributed infrastructures such as big clusters, Grids and Clouds.
However, currently, most of the existing scientific workflows tools do not offer adequate support to facilitate the development of several challenging scenarios that are becoming more important for emerging large-scale, distributed, and dynamic applications. As examples of currently open issues, existing workflow approaches still exhibit critical dependencies on a centralized enactment engine, and they lack flexibility in supporting the execution of long-running workflows with multiple iterations or even infinite iterations and allowing their structural and behavioral dynamic reconfiguration.

More and more organizations think of procuring their information technology through "the cloud". Hence, what remains in the organization are just the business processes supported through those could based applications. What impact does that have on business process management (BPM)?
Relevant answer
Answer
BPM with cloud is better known as Cloud computing business process management. It is the use of (BPM) tools that are delivered as software services (SaaS) over a network. Cloud BPM business logic is deployed on an application server and the business data resides in cloud storage. According to Gartner, by 2016 20% of all the "shadow business processes" will be supported by BPM cloud platforms. The benefits of using cloud BPM services may as well be the benefits of using any cloud service as such. The SaaS delivery model removes the need and cost of maintaining specialized technical skill sets in-house. Use of cloud computing reduces distractions from an enterprise's main focus. It offers controlled IT budgeting and enables geographical mobility.

When the approach to BPM its global, starting from strategy, after that, we make the assessment of macro processes, or as some approaches consider "capabilities". In this context, any one knows another approach similar to "decision matrix", to apply and select in an objective way, the projects to start with? Considering the impact in the strategy and effort to develop (e.g. costs, hours ...). I need a simple approach, to support this decisions with "top leaders" in an organization. Any help is welcomed.
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi Pedro,
I like the way you are bringing ideas together and envisaging ways they can be put into practice. Some people say creative people create twice: once in the mind and then in reality, and you are doing this.
Some seniors/leaders may be satisfied with an input that weights factors and provides a guiding framework in which others can make decisions and execute the best projects. Personally, this is how I like to work as I believe it empowers others. Other seniors may feel the system could get out of control unless they are intimately involved in decisions to a very low level into the operation.
So, a system of 'checks and balances' would ideally be in place too. This could be described as Programme Mgt; at it's simplest, regular reporting of progress against the key factors determined prior to launching projects. A skilled programme manager can facilitate senior management reviews and therefore cater for the different requirements of the individuals at that level.
Clearly, there is cost to setting up programme management, so the organisation needs to 'value' the activity high enough to invest in it. And have sufficient scale to justify it.
Excuse me if you are very much aware of this type of approach... but I hope I am responding to the neat way you are developing your thoughts above.
Regards all,
Robin

Process improvement models like CMMI, ISO and IEEE provide a set of standards to help improve the business process into organizations. Organizations willing to follow one of these standards should go through apprisal evaluation. This process are based on measuring to what extent the organization business process adhere to the standards. For example the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) normally uses the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) for this compliance check. What if we automate the whole process, so the compliance check itself is automated. This will require the business process to be formalized and the standards to be formalized too.
