The updated Scopus journal list includes newly accepted journals. As of March 2025, Scopus continues to revise its index, adding new titles across various disciplines. Notably, in September 2024, Scopus accepted 97 new journals. The attached list is provided in Excel format.
Relevant answer
Answer
Ah I see dear Ahmed Halfadji Your “As of March…” seemed to suggest that something drastic was going to change in the Scopus policy which is not the case.
Your link looks legit but somehow personally I do not trust this website. For example they have no contact info (physical address is absent). Furthermore, they have a list of impact factors which is a copyrighted property of Clarivate (so not entirely legal).
Anyway, for the most recent list of Scopus indexed, accepted and discontinued titles I go to https://www.scopus.com/home.uri just click on “Scopus source list”
Best regards.

Question

I am old enough to have authored or coauthored more than a hundred papers in respectable (not open access) journals, but all of the journals that know me take papers that are something like eight pages long (my longest ever was only about 16 pages). I now want to submit something, about a topic in special relativity, that is more than 40 pages long. No journal that knows me will accept that, so it looks like I am going to submit to some predatory open-access journal. I guess I'm willing to pay for that, even though it is an embarrassment because I never previously paid to get something published, but I want to get something for the money. Is there a good choice from the long list of predatory open-access journals? The only thing I really want is for the paper to be referenceable, and RG supplies DOI numbers without any pretense of peer reviews (which at least is honest, and I call that respectable). I can submit it there, but the question is: Is it better to publish (at a cost) in some predatory open-access journal? If so, what journal?
Relevant answer
Answer
Thank you Peter Breuer . You know a lot about this and I am paying attention. If not for your latest post I would have submitted it to RG just to get a DOI number regardless of the lack of respect. I am now delaying taking any action until thinking some more about you said.

Can anyone suggest me some SSCI journals in Politics or International Relations or wider that are relatively easy and fast to publish?
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Viola Tsing,
Finding SSCI journals in Politics or International Relations that are both relatively easy and fast to publish in can be challenging, as it often depends on the journal’s scope, review process, and the quality of the submission. However, some journals are known for their faster turnaround times and openness to a wider range of topics. You might consider journals like Global Governance, International Politics, or Foreign Policy Analysis, as they cover broad areas in international relations and politics. Additionally, Review of International Studies and The Hague Journal of Diplomacy might also be worth exploring.
I recommend checking each journal’s website for specific submission guidelines, acceptance rates, and average review times. Also, networking with peers in your field or contacting editorial teams directly can provide insight into their publishing process.

I'm an academic from the UK and looking for contributors for a book on AI and higher education.
Please pm me if you're interested and I'll reveal my identity. Unfortunately, the book focuses on higher education only.
The plan is to gather the title and a 100-word summary for each chapter then I'll pass them on to the publisher. There's no guarantee the publisher will accept the book project but I'll try my best. I have not finalised the title of the book as I'll wait until we have the summaries and titles for all chapters. It would be best if you can pm me the following by the end of August 2024,

Should You Self-Publish Your Research?
In 1901, Beatrix Potter’s “The Tales of Peter Rabbit” was rejected by several publishers, so she self-published the book. Less than a year later, publisher Frederick Warne & Co., one of the original group of publishers who rejected her manuscript, became Beatrix Potter’s publisher. The relationship lasted for 40 years and led to the publication of over 23 books. Over a century later, over two million books, which have been authored by Beatrix Potter, are sold each year!

Based on my experiences, once the publication is officially released, all the major indices, including Web of Science (formerly Thomson Reuters), Scopus, PsycINFO, and INSPEC, will have access to the book content to review for potential inclusion into their records. As such, they will notify the publisher if your publication is of interest, and you will be informed of any new indexing developments. The selection criteria is also based on the amount of highly cited content, practical relevance and contribution to the field of research. The publisher does not have control cannot guarantee that the content will be indexed.

Studying the various philosophers, even the contemporary thinkers, is a matter of study and analysis. Whatever our stage of development is, such study and analysis can only be educating ourselves in the strict sense. Thinking for ourselves is also part of the process, which should have greater weightage as the educative phase is had long enough.
Now what about forgetting for some time the contributions of the many philosophers of our time or of the past, especially the kind whom we all mention habitually, and then theorizing philosophically for ourselves without constant references to their works and notions, as doctoral students do?
Why do I suggest this? Such dependence on the works of the stalwarts and of the specialists on them may veil our abilities to see many things for ourselves. Thus, we can avoid becoming philosophical technicians and even the slightly better case of becoming philosophical technologists or philosophical experts.
I believe that synthesizing upon some good insights from the many thinkers and from the many disciplines would require also the inevitable conceptual foundations that we would be able to discover beyond these notions.
Suppose each of us looks for such foundations, and then share them on a platform. If the discussion is on these new foundations, something may emerge in each of us as what we could term genuine foundations. These need not remain forever, because philosophy and science show grow out of whatever we and others have done. But, as a result of the effort, we will have effected a better synthesis through such personal efforts than when without seeking foundations.
I think the conceptual foundations on which the concept of synthetic philosophy works may thus gain a lot. I for one consider the whole history of analytic and linguistic philosophy as lacking such rigour. You all may differ from what each one of us suggests. That is the manner in which deeper foundations can be sought. I am on such a journey.
I believe that in the journey to find deeper and more general foundations than those available, we will already have created a manner of doing philosophy independently, and if done in conjunction with the sciences, we will have a new manner of doing the philosophy of science. Fell trees from their roots, and we have the place to plant a new tree.
Let me suggest a question. All these 2.5 millennia of western philosophy, we have not found the question of the implications of existence (to exist, To Be) being discussed. Plato and Aristotle have tried it, and thereafter we do not see much on the implications of To Be. Now if some implications of To Be are found, these could be a strong foundation for philosophy of any kind. I hope we cannot find such implications of Non-existence for doing philosophy or science. The definitions of the implications of To Be will change in the course of time, but some core might continue to remain, if we do something validly deep and general enough.
Let me suggest an interesting manner in which many philosophers evaluate their peers. (This may also be applicable in all other fields.) This is here brought to a historical context, not merely theoretical. This I do in order to make the example very clear.
Suppose you (say, A) speak of space, time, entities, matter-energy, etc. in a special context. The peer (say, B) gets hold of the text and starts criticizing A’s notion of space, time, entities, matter-energy, etc. B starts from the concepts of space and time. He says, Kant and thereafter almost all thinkers have placed space and time merely as epistemic categories. This has been done in the context of phenomena. If you (A) hold the epistemic variety of notions of space and time, then they are phenomenal. In that case, you should have studied in the text what phenomena meant in Kant and analyze the scientific and philosophical consequences of those concepts.
B continues. If you wanted to make space and time metaphysical concepts, then you are speaking of the noumena. For Kant these are unknowables. Hence, you need to first show that the noumena are knowables. In that case you are rightful in suggesting epistemic / epistemological concepts of space and time. If not, you need to take recourse to other relevant philosophers or scientific disciplines to demonstrate the metaphysical meaning of space and time that you have introduced. And so on.
Absolute dependence upon the traditions and unpreparedness to think differently from the past or present thinkers is what is exhibited here. Not that B is not intelligent enough. B is. But the preparedness to think for years and decades differently comes not merely from the desire to think differently, but from the desire to SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS OF THE WORLD TOGETHER. We know we are being overambitious. If we demonstrate such an attitudes in our behaviour to others, then it is due to an intellectual sense of preponderance. But if we remain receptive to all new inputs from all others and all sciences, we will continue to be enabled to persevere in methodological obverambitiousness.
The peer had already decided how the author should write. It seems that the author should have written on all sub-themes within the title a separate book or part in the book....! Or, should he have cited from all sorts of authors on all possible sub-themes in his book in order to be approved by the peer?
Yet another systematically dominative and other-debilitating manner of peers is this: Say, I submit to you the publisher a book. The publisher sends it to the peer/s. Without even taking time for a good reading of the text, the peer suggests some opinions to the publishers, which the publisher relates to the author in a day or two: Your work may be very good, but its title is too broad. An author cannot do justice to the whole breadth of the subject matter!
Have you heard or read psychologists, neuroscientists, medical doctors, etc. discussing some symptoms and their causes? A book in psychology says: ‘According to the bio-psycho-social approach in psychopathology, one mental disturbance CAN have many causes.’ But a person trained and enthusiastic about philosophy (also of the philosophy of the sciences) would wonder why there should not be many causes, at least some of which one could seek to find...! Discovering ‘only the immediate, exact, and unique cause’ is not their work because any reason can tell us that nothing in this world has an exact cause.
This directs our attention to a basic nature of philosophy: Not that a philosopher should only generalize. But a philosopher should study any specific thing only in terms of the most generalizable notions. Here ‘generality’ does not directly indicate only abstraction. It demonstrates the viewpoint that philosophy always takes. Hence, speaking only of the linguistic formulation of notions and arguments, formulating arguments only of life-related events in order to prove general principles that belong to the whole of Reality, etc. are not philosophical. The philosophically trained reader can recognize which recent trends in philosophy I have in mind here.
I may be talking strange things here, especially for those trained mainly in analytic philosophy and the philosophy of science in a narrow manner. If you do not find such suggestions interesting, just ignore this intervention. I continue to work on this. I do have some success. Each of us has our own manner of approaching the problems.
I am aware that I may be laughed at. Since I have left the profession of teaching, I do not lose much. Moreover, getting great publishers is out of reach for me, but that too does not compound to much consequence if eventually one succeeds to do something solid.

Answer
Dear colleagues, I agree with you.
Everyone has the right to have their own philosophy and to form their own picture of the world. However, in this case we should divide all philosophers into four groups:
- everyday philosophers (all our friends, colleagues and close people);
- philosophers "due to circumstances" (philosophers of disciplinary branches of science);
- intellectual philosophers (philosophers who are attracted by the possibility of constructing intellectual hypotheses of amazing beauty);
- and professional philosophers (compilers of general contexts of cognition of the world).
The answer to the question: what does the world really look like? – fundamentally interesting only to a small group of professional philosophers (compilers of general contexts of cognition of the world). I am sure that a person cannot ask a question that he cannot answer. Therefore, in the question: what is the world? – its uniqueness is already being pointed out. However, there may be many interpretations from other groups of philosophers. For example, some philosophers-physicists assume the existence of a plurality of worlds. A beautiful worldview picture! But this picture does not negate the question of what a single world looks like, within which many worlds are located. Probably, Plato's statement that a professional philosopher should lead the state should be considered in this context. Probably, only a philosopher can organize the governance of the state by bringing the philosophical statements of four groups of philosophers (members of society) to a universal law that determines the unity of the world. Therefore, we can look at the world, admire its objects and processes, as well as our thoughts about the world. But we must definitely see a one and only world (objects, processes and our thoughts about them, through the prism of systems transdisciplinary models of universal order, which encode each object, process and our thoughts).
In conclusion, it is important to say about the increased responsibility of a professional philosopher. The area of responsibility of a professional philosopher should not be limited only to the formation of a picture of the world. This area should extend to the following chain of actions: description of the picture of the world; creation of an appropriate concept (basic judgments and axioms); creation of methodology (models of cognition of the world and rethinking its high–threshold problems); description of technological ideas (ways to solve high-threshold problems of nature and society); creation of a method of risk analysis from the implementation of the proposed concepts, methodology, technological ideas (security of the world and society). Simply put, during the changing scenarios of the world order and socio-economic crises, professional philosophers, not professional military, should speak.
You can read about the picture of the unified world and the ways of its cognition in these articles:

Will ChatGPT Disrupt Peer Review? Impact of AI on the Hallmark of Science Vigilance
ChatGPT is already starting to impact peer review in scholarly publishing. While there is a constant debate surrounding whether artificial intelligence (AI) is capable of fully replacing human peer reviewers or not, it is being used to assist with certain aspects of the peer review process. For example, some publishers are using AI tools to screen submissions for plagiarism or to identify potential conflicts of interest. Other publishers are using AI to help identify suitable reviewers based on their areas of expertise and past performance...
AI tools can assist with certain aspects of the review process, such as identifying potential conflicts of interest or language biases, but they cannot replace the expertise and judgment of human reviewers.
Human reviewers bring a level of subject matter expertise and critical thinking that cannot be replicated by AI tools. They can identify important scientific insights, evaluate the quality of the research methodology, and provide nuanced feedback that goes beyond what an algorithm can offer...

Publication of academic research products, if the material does not directly contain a detailed survey of the status quo, is seldom accepted for publication.
The criterion is always based on merely analytic, directly science-and-technology-enhancing, and in this way economically publication-industry-enhancing sort of works. Hence the lag in advancements in science and philosophy and in the mutual enhancement of science and philosophy.
I have witnessed this for more than 2 decades. Silently. My only hope for change in this state of publication houses is this opinion of Max Planck:
“A new scientific truth does triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.”
– Max Planck, Scientific Autobiography and Other Papers, London: Williams and Norgate Ltd., 1950, pp. 33-34.
More than of a new scientific “truth”, it may be true of a new scientific-systemic “revolution”. But is this equally true of both philosophy and the philosophies of various sciences? I doubt.
That is, I hope that publishing houses will begin to realize that a synthesis in a radical manner, or a new systemic sort of viewpoint, will always require many pages to express itself; and hence, analytic surveys of existing literature becomes difficult and below the standard that is expected of original academic works.

Raphael Neelamkavil,
I have long ago come to terms with this. It is simply the way the world works. I do appreciate your supportive remarks.
My revelation came from an article in Science News, a weekly newsletter, in the mid-1990's. A heart surgeon from Central America had developed a procedure to excise portions of an enlarged heart. He had a 50% survival rate. Since the normal outcome was 0%, his procedure was a break through.
The surgeon tried for three years to inform others of his technique. Finally, he presented at a conference on a separate topic. Instead of presenting the designated topic, he presented his break through surgical technique. Before they could stop his presentation, the Mayo Clinic had picked up on it.
I knew after reading about this surgeon who had both credibility and an easily demonstrated topic that the chances of ever gaining an audience was almost nil. Nevertheless, I continue to persist.
This is just the way that life works. I would not look for a culprit in the process. The publishers have their own challenges and must deal with the different communities. I think the best for which one can hope is to find someone with whom your thoughts and findings can be shared. There are no villains, everyone is constrained by this.

Thus, to ensure quality in the paper publications churned out from dozens of academic journals, she gave the above suggestion. What do you think about her suggestion? Would it improve the rigor of science or slow down the pace of scientific development?
Kindly share your interesting views on this issue. Thanks

It depends on whether a researcher is an open-minded or otherwise. Restricting an open-minded researcher to publish a single study per annum will limit scientific propagation and technological advancement. In fact, it will take us back to pre-information explosion period where only a tiny fraction of scholars was allowed to contribute to the growth of knowledge. By any physical laws, this is impossible. It seems to restrict human thinking thereby limiting human intelligence and accelerating or retarding machine intelligence. This idea will be detrimental especially if looked at from the high scaled up of global problems like health emergency, global warming, etc. There's a paradigm shift from publishing to perish to share or perish nowadays, which implies the negative consequences will be greater than the benefits to derive from. The only thing to think in this regard is the review process: it has to measure many variables such as quality, validity, reliability, replicability, etc in quantity. Narrowing down the growth of knowledge to just one paper per year will have many consequences on psychology, sociology, economy, geography, environment, health, technology, etc. of the global population. It will limit critical thinking, reading, reflection, among others, which is detriment to the growth and development of scholarship unless proven otherwise in the future. Thinking in this way is epistemophobia

Are you interested in the application of complex systems to the global history of humankind? I'm working on such a project, and I'm interested in discussions with like-minded people.
I published several articles on that in "The Complex Systems" journal (thecomplexsystems.com). A short overview of my work is in my blog (vtorvich.com) and the description of my book "Subsurface History of Humanity: Direction of History" on Amazon.
Relevant answer
Answer
All classifications are up to people.
Everybody will tell you that the history of humanity started around 5,150 years ago. Of course, not the same wording would be used. The phrase would be like this. The history of mankind is recorded history. In other words, our history began only when humanity invented writing.
The reason is simple and very convincing. The magic word is convenience. It is much easier to work with historical facts and artifacts if you have written records about them. It is hard to work with only archeological or similar data. The history with existed written records is a comfort zone for everybody. Any choice of the beginning of the history of humankind as a date before first writing will throw researchers and the public out of this comfort zone.
When did the Agricultural Revolution happen? Well, it began many thousands of years before writing was invented. If the history of mankind began in 3150 BC, then that revolution is thrown from the history of humanity into prehistory.
I consider humankind's history, as the one, which started in 42000 BC. Why exactly at this date?

"I am Marla Cadwell, an Editorial assistant from a UK based publishing company contacting you with the reference from our editorial department.
Basing on your outstanding contribution to the scientific community, we would like to write a book for you.
Researchers like you are adding so much value to the scientific community, yet you are not getting enough exposure. No matter how many papers you publish in famous journals, you will be still unknown to common people. To solve this problem, we came up with this unique solution.
With our book writing service, we will write your research contributions in the common man’s language. We will also include all your published papers into this book in a way that a common man can understand it. And then, we will publish your book with our publishing group. Before, publication, we will send the draft to you for scientific accuracy, once you approve our draft, we then proceed for publication. You will get all the rights of your book, and all the sales generated from your book will be credited to you.
Your book will then be listed on famous websites like Amazon, eBay, Good Reads, and many other popular book websites. As a result, you will get good credit and people will recognize your hard work and your scientific contributions.
Last but not least, after the publication of your book, it will be published in Google News, Yahoo, and other major news channels.
What more can you ask for?
All we need is your book writing contract, and you will get all the rights for your book.
I will be waiting to hear from you.

Question

This question is based on the following facts (publish or perish):
"Do you feel overwhelmed by the number of research papers in your field?
Do you wonder if you’re missing key ideas that could be critical for your research program? Does it feel like the deluge is only getting worse?
You’re not imagining things. According to research from the University of Ottawa, in 2009 we passed the 50 million mark in terms of the total number of science papers published since 1665, and approximately 2.5 million new scientific papers are published each year.
What’s driving this publication explosion?
At its most basic level, we’ve seen a substantial increase in the total number of academic journals. As of 2014 there were approximately 28,100 active scholarly peer-reviewed journals. Add to this the increasing number of predatory or fake scientific journals, which produce high volumes of poor-quality research, and you have a veritable jungle of journals to wade through.
Another key factor is the sheer number of publishing scientists worldwide, which is increasing at a rate of approximately 4-5% per year. In British Columbia and Alberta alone, we’ve seen the conversion of more than seven colleges to universities in the past decade, and with these changes come new pressures on faculty to publish.
This pressure to “publish or perish”—and the increased competition amongst this growing pool of scientists—has resulted in some researchers becoming what’s termed “salami slicers.”
They divide papers into the least publishable unit in order to lengthen their publication list, increase the chances of being cited, and increase the opportunity to publish in journals with a high impact factor. This further contributes to the volume of papers published."
Relevant answer
Answer
I think and I am sorry to say this is not healthy because all or most of us are scholars or academicians and our universities only related our careers upgrading to publishing the papers and this is in fact very away from the true skills and experiences that we ought to have it and also to just have the required number of published papers that may be low quality ... but only to have the required number only to upgrade ...

Answer
Hans - I suppose that the 'simple' answer would be that the larger the company, the more likely it is to be more widely marketed, circulated and read - and potentially more cited. Unlike journals, texts are not ranked and so the answer does have some subjectivity associated with it. That said, some of the university press publishers i.e. Cambridge Univerity Press and Oxford University Press are well established and can be considered equally prestigious and 'mainstream' than some of the other publishing houses you mention. That said, there are a few that that are probably 'ranked' higher than most - such as Elsevier.

To publish a Unified Theory of Everything, which includes a series of papers describing and proving its Astrophysics, Electromagnetics & Optics, Gravitation, Weak Force, and Strong Force counterparts, what would be the best Scientific Journal to publish it altogether, or is it better to publish it as a book with chapters covering individual proofs in different physics disciplines? If submitting to a Journal, how can the intellectual rights be protected in the peer-review process? If published in a book, what would be the pros and cons in comparison to being published as an Academic Journal Paper?

I'm reading this book and I'm really interested in translating few pages from a section of the book into my mother tongue language. Now i have already started but then i realized maybe it is not ethical nor legal to do so even for translating "few pages" from the book without asking for permission from the original author.
Relevant answer
Answer
A few pages (6) is too much to reproduce without permission, or without at least checking how much text the publishing house deems to be permissible. I believe that the general maximum allowed is a couple of hundred words without putting in a specific request. You should contact the publishing house to ask: Search for the web site of the publishing house, then look for a link: "Permissions". Nowadays such a link will often allow you to put in a request and obtain the appropriate authorisation automatically and immediately, but as you are requesting the right to reproduce a substantial amount of translated text, I would suggest that you provide all details and await a response (do take a screenshot of the request). You will need to provide information relating to the eventual publication, and some of this, you might not know as yet. I like to cover all bases by contacting the author as well as one does not always receive a response from publishing houses and I still await permission to reproduce an image from a request put in five years ago (we didn't use that figure!). I'd suggest a web search to find the author's contact information. This is often a couple of boxes on a website, but don't be discouraged – authors tend to be quick to respond and considerably more interesting to communicate with than an automated permissions service! If you are stuck awaiting permissions that never seem to come from the automated service, the author can forward an email for you or provide you with the email for a direct contact, whereupon you will be able to enjoy watching your email pass from one person to another until it eventually lands on the desk of the right person (whose first piece of advice will be to use the automated service that has failed to produce results!). Corresponding with the author frequently results in an interesting exchange, and it can provide additional unpublished information of value when presenting the work or discussing it with colleagues. Good luck!

I received an email from Nova press, NY with a request to provide research or review chapter(s) for a book cooperation within the scope of my research interests. I would be interested, if you have i) experience with this kind of publication and ii) where are the benefits in terms of dissemination and/or citations etc.?
As books usually are not made open access, I do only see a benefit for the publisher as they earn money with this. The authors are not paid for their work and have no share on the revenue... so why should I cooperate? Prestige??
Many thanks for your input,
Richard
Relevant answer
Answer
Scientific books are collections of chapters=reviews. Standalone reviews are better in terms of dissemination. But the words "book" and "chapter" are magic spells. So every sincere academic-ladder climber wants to have a chapter or two in their lists of publications. Books are usually not "open access," but they are often "open, sesame."

Dear PhD students,
Some parasitic and predatory publishers will offer you to publish your thesis for free and without prior examination and peer review. It's all about scam. Some are already registered on the Dolos list (https://www.professeur-alexandre-georges.info/dolos-list), like VDM Publishing (OmniScriptum) and Lambert Academic Publishing, but stay cautious. Publishing your thesis with a predatory publisher will never be positive for your work. If you have already published, don't worry, it can happen to well-established researchers. If you have made a commitment to publish with this type of publisher, retract and, if they refuse, do not hesitate to contact my office at:
The Dolos list is a resource designed to help researchers, students, and journalists to determine which publishers or journals are serious and which are not. My team will try to provide the most suitable solution and will not hesitate to intervene.

There must be certain stylistic features in writing that differentiate native from non-native standards. Perhaps non-native writers can improve upon their writing styles in order to enrich competition in research paper publishing.
Relevant answer
Answer
Something quite annoying is the inconsistency in the definition of "native speaker" between journals. I personally experienced cases of American journals complaining about the English used by British authors, and vice-versa. It's also common to see complaints made by American or British reviewers about the English used by people from other native anglophone countries, especially in Africa. So, at least part of the problem may be attributed to prejudice.

After completing some research on systems thinking across various medical and health professions education programs, colleagues and I decided to develop a monograph to help educators teach and assess systems thinking. We have found it a bit more challenging to publish a monograph as opposed to a research article -- journals want brief manuscripts; book publishers want full textbooks. Some colleagues have suggested self-publishing but I am concerned that this might not be a credible/respected route to pursue as a researcher and academic. Would love to hear what others think.

Answer
A scientific answer to the question about the quality of Nova Science Publishers can be found in several published bibliometric essays of mine, most recently in
Tausch, Arno, The Market Power of Global Scientific Publishing Companies in the Age of Globalization: An Analysis Based on the OCLC Worldcat (June 16, 2018). Available at SSRN: https://ssrn.com/abstract=3197632 or http://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.3197632 (forthcoming in the Journal of Globalization Studies).
This article evaluates tendencies and trends of the global academic publishing industry, vital for any reasonable long-term publication strategy planning in research. Such analyses are made possible today by the OCLC Worldcat. Our multivariate attempt, combining Worldcat global library circulation figures of publisher companies with results from earlier publisher ranking studies, is based on factor analysis of 32 variables, and our promax factor analytical model establishes that there are eight factors of global publisher impact, explaining almost 86% of total variance:
1. overall global standing of the company
2. company as a factor on the market
3. company impact on the global political and economic debate
4. successfully distributing best-sellers
5. impact on the scholarly community
6. successfully distributing production to more than 50 global Worldcat libraries
7. output during the last 5 years
8. outstanding academic quality
Of the 51 companies with complete data under investigation here, the following companies are classified in the upper half: Oxford University Press; Springer; Cambridge University Press; Routledge; World Bank; Princeton University Press; Elsevier; CRC Press; University of Chicago Press; University of California Press; Palgrave Macmillan; MIT Press; Yale University Press; University of North Carolina Press; De Gruyter; Wiley-Blackwell; Kluwer Academic Publishers; University of Pennsylvania Press; Johns Hopkins University Press; Brill; Nova Science Publishers; University of Illinois Press; Duke University Press; University of Washington Press; and Edward Elgar.
Scientists, wanting to get global audiences, are well advised to publish with those companies; and journal editors, wanting to get a global distribution for their journals, are equally well advised to cooperate with them.
SSRN is run by the Social Science Research Network in New York, associated with Elsevier.
Other articles, comparing Nova's performance in a scientific manner, were published in:
Tausch, A. (2011). On the Global Impact of Selected Social-Policy Publishers in More Than 100 Countries 1. Journal of Scholarly Publishing, 42(4), 476-513.
Tausch, A. (2016), ‘The global publishing trajectory of a European political science community: indices, trends, and implications’ (‘La trayectoria global de publicaciones de una Comunidad Europea de Ciencia Política: índices, tendencias e implicaciones’) Entelequia. Revista Interdisciplinar, Publicado el 26 noviembre, 2016 in Epistemología, Número 19. Available at: https://revistaentelequia.wordpress.com/category/numero-19/page/2/?order=asc , as a working paper also at my site in Researchgate
(2017), Die Buchpublikationen der Nobelpreis-Ökonomen und die führenden Buchverlage der Disziplin. A bibliometric analysis).‘ Bibliotheksdienst, March 2017: 339 – 374. as a working paper also at my site in Researchgate
All these studies came to the conclusion that Nova Science Publishers is to be ranked in the middle range of serious global academic publishers.

I must immediately acknowledge that I am a total neophyte in this subject of researching the history of books of antiquity ... of trying to determine how widely a book might have been published / accepted / adopted / cited / utilized / believed-in by peers / etc. etc. Yet, I am very curious to know those facts about a certain book, entitled CURA DE DIOS Y PASTOR DE JESU-CHRISTO, SEGUNDA PARTE. IDEADO DE LA SAGRADA ESCRITURA mayormente el Evangelio, Santos Padres, y Doctores de la Iglesia (etc. etc. ... an image of the title page I append). This book was published in Madrid in 1726 and authored by Dr. Antonio Joseph de Arredondo. Does anyone know how or where I should start the process of researching these facts? I have spent my life as a miserable archaeologist ... if this were some item dug from the earth, encrusted with soil, then I would have no problem ... but I need some pointers from an expert through the world of literature ... surely among this vast universe of paper-lovers there is one person who can wield the powerful tools of the internet and point-out some database, some shortcut methodology? Please?

Answer
Dear Bob,
You have another book - from the edition in 1717 - in the Biblioteca de Montserrat. I give you the link for the research in English: http://www.bibliotecademontserrat.net/cat/eng/index.php
And maybe you can find information in the "Archivo Histórico de Protocolos de Madrid" (http://www.madrid.org/archivos/index.php/quienes-somos/conocenos/archivo-historico-de-protocolos), because in the wills, buy of house, heritages, they mentioned sometimes the books that the people have. The "Protocolos" are useful, in Spanish Literature, to find information of Ancient Writters - Lope de Vega, Cervantes, for example -  or Important People (Colón, the Catholic Queen), because you can find historical documents from 1504 since 1916.  There are "Archivos Históricos de Protocolos" in other Spanish cities, like Valencia, Sevilla, Barcelona...
And the Spanish Consulates have too "funciones notariales". In the pages 25-27 you have some informations about the dates when  a country had the Spanish consulate: http://www.madrid.org/archivos/images/ACTIVIDADES/PUBLICACIONES/Guia_ArchivoHistoricoProtocolosMadrid.pdf
You can see an exemple of the information you can extract of these "protocolos" in this paper. The auctor explains a "Carta de dote" ("Dote" is the name of the things that man or woman contributes to the marriage )  of the XVIIIth Century and you have the reference of the book of Arredondo in the page 44: http://biblioteca2.uclm.es/biblioteca/Ceclm/ARTREVISTAS/Cem/CEM37_Bienes_Barrio.pdf
I hope this information was useful to you and tell me, please, if you need help for a Spanish translate or another information or another management in Spain.
Good look in your research!

Multiple-channel publishing is a conglomeration of different publishing methods including both the traditional and the electronic channels. The traditional publishing involves the use of offset printing technology that makes use of plate and paper to produce books and the distribution of the book produced in a physical (hardcopy) format. Electronic publishing on the other hand involves producing and distributing books via the internet. This electronic publishing is also referred to as online publishing and web publishing, when published in the form of a website

Hi. I am considering doing my MA dissertation in trends and statistics in the publication of translations (not limited to one country's publishing patterns or one language, i.e. not limited to US or UK or English-language sources; but I may need to limit to top-10 languages, something like that).
I also wish to review and compare the statistics-finding tools and resources available.
I am aware of the Index Translationum, COPAK and 3 percent. Each has their limitations - whether it be with out-dated data, poor or inconsistent data capture, limited sources or poor query facilities - but they make for interesting comparisons. **Addition - I have also contacted Nielsen Bookscan.
Can anyone point me at any other sites that I can access or contact to request access to? Preferably free...  I may be able to put some funds into it, but definitely not much! I prefer English, French or Spanish language sites - German at a pinch - but I'm willing to try other language sites on the naive basis that data is data... (or are).
Many thanks, all
