Questions related to Bibliography
This is a blur area in the bibliography I study, and the numbers used are mostly rounded up (N=500, N=1000 etc) without any other explanation. What would you suggest?
Why do we write the word 'Reference' in Research Articles and not 'Bibliography' ? How the two words are technically different ?
Hello, i 'am currently working in my thesis reportI i already organize my bibliography with Mendeley, but the supervisor asked me to separate books from articles, is this possible with Mendeley ? how ? if it's not what is the alternative?
thank you
Hello! I would like your opinion regarding the proper way to disperse MOF particles (with average particle size around 25μm) in a polymer solution for electrospinning process. What I do, is to use an ultrasound probe with 20% Amplitude and 50W. During sonication, the solution is heated up quite fast so I do 3 to 4 intervals of 30 sec. sonication and 30 sec. rest. I am not sure if during sonication the polymer solution could be damaged or not (breaking the polymeric chains into smaller ones). Then, I use magnetic stirring overnight. After that, the solution seems to be fine but when I perform electrospinning either the metallic needle clogs or the produced electrospun fibers have large MOF particles size (after SEM observation). The materials synthesis is based on bibliography. Do you follow a protocol for dispersion that might be useful?
Thank you in advance
I'm working with the latest version of Mendeley Reference Manager. I have some references with the same author and same year, and the journal where my paper will be published requires suffixes (a, b, c) in those cases. I tried to edit the citations and manually override them; and though there is no problem with suffixes in the in-text citations, the suffixes don't appear on the automatically generated bibliography. For example, in the attached pic those two "2021" should have "a" and "b" respectively. Please, help out a young researcher :)
I've cited an article 4 times in my work. now it is appearing 4 times in the bibliography. How do I avoid that? I need it only one time in the bibliography. I'm using Mendeley.
I am trying to use Mendeley desktop because mendeley cite does not work with footnotes. I used the insert option on word ,but my bibliography looks messy and disorganized.
The citations look Like this :
ÄòChinese investment in Africa: Beijing‚Äôs testing ground‚Äô (2017) 13 <i>Financial Times</i>.
How do i get a clean bibliography that looks like this
Chinese investment in Africa: Beijing‚ testing ground‚ (2017) Financial Times
Also there is not space between references
In a word document with several sections, is it possible to insert a bibliography (list of references) at the end of each section with Mendeley?
With mendely, it is usual to insert only one bibliography in a word document. Is it possible to insert several bibliographies (one specific at the end of each section or each chapter of the document), while keeping the possibility of dynamic update after modifications in the text?
Pls, I need a bibliography for

Good afternoon,
I need help with the exact determinations of the subspecies of Eacles imperialis (Saturniidae), which subspecies are in force, which were synonymized. I am trying to elucidate the subspecies for Uruguay. The bibliography includes Eacles imperialis opaca and Eacles imperialis magnifica, for some authors the latter is a synonym and for others, it is a species.
Thank you very much, I await your comments.
Greetings
Gabrielle
I have hundreds of citations in word file, instead of manually adding one by one to Mendeley, is there a way to transfer/convert them automatically or at a time?
What would be most efficient way to convert them?
We use MMF-Saga module for erosion assessment with Saga Gis in agricultutral watershed near the city of Le Mans in France. We produces all the parameters required by field surveys, bibliography and laboratory. The model gives us results for "Runoff" section with grid of runoff and its deratives wich are consistent with other models we used and local bibliography from close experimental watersheds. However, the "soil loss" section does not run correctly and the grids of "soil loss" is empty wit "#inf" value. All the parameters are in range values or units required by the model and consistent with other examples from bibliography. Someone ever encountered this problem ? We work with Saga Gis 6.0.0 and 7.0.0 and a screenshot of main results are in attachment.
Thanks a lot,
Cordially.
I am using Mendeley Reference Manager for the last 5 years. I am using the updated version of the Mendeley Reference Manager in Microsoft 365. Finding hard to use Updated Mendeley for Referencing. The older version was really Good.
I am using both "Mendeley Cite" and "Mendeley Desktop". I have cited the reference in the word file of my manuscript and I am also able to change the Reference style according to the journal. However, some journals ask for abbreviated form of the "Journal Name" in their bibliography like the journal Heliyon. I got the bibliography for Heliyon Journal but there is no abbreviated form of the Journal name. I have tried with several journal reference styles but got the same issues. One such example is---
The format should be like this
Name et al (year). The RSK family of kinases. Nat. Rev. Mol. Cell Biol. 9, 747–758.
Updated Mendeley is providing this format
Name et al (year). The RSK family of kinases. Nature Reviews. Molecular Cell Biology 9, 747–758.
Anyone facing this problem or I need to set up anything in Mendeley.
Does anyone suggest to me how can I solve these issues?
I'm researching in the field of Background for 2D Animation, more specifically about Architecture in 2D Animation. But, I don't know about articles of research or others research focus on it. I need to collect an extensive Bibliography about this field. Could you help me?
I need to know the exact composition of LIPUSU®, the liposomal formulation of Paclitaxel approved in China in 2003. The lipids chosen for the elaboration of the liposomes and their ratios. I checked the bibliography but it seems impossible for me to find that information, probably because most of it is in chinesse.
I would be very grateful if someone could help us with that.
¿Can a meta-analysis include data from the same study twice, that is, in the same forest plot? I have seen this in a recently published investigation that included data with two different cutoff points, but I think it induces bias and affects heterogeneity. Is there a bibliography on the matter?
I've many questions when it comes to the development of a scientific work. Please be patient :)
- When I refer to "research methodology" I'm talking about an complete process of developing a research: from the definition of a problem to the final paper review.
- About Citation & Bibliography, it seems to me that the APA' 7th edition manual is the most useful because it's the style that I use the most.
- When it comes to publishing I'm refering to the paper's submition, peer review and publication processes.
- Which SPSS book is best and why.
PS: I've been using Mendely for organisation purposes almost one year but, I haven't use any other... in your personal experience do you think there is a better software?
Hi,
I'm currently wrapping up a manuscript for submission and I found that when I tried to add a new citation in the word document using Endnote plugin or change the bibliography, my entire reference section is messed up. Basically, I have 50 citations in total and after any such changes, the number drops to 20 with many citations just disappear, along with the superscript number in the main text.
I tried to reinsert the disappeared citations again but they just do not show up. I open the "Edit & Manage Citations" tool and I can clearly see instances like there are five citations at the same location but only two are numbered and actually showing up in the reference section. In another word, these citations are still there, but they are just now hidden from the reference section and the superscript numbering, and cannot be re-added.
I uploaded a screenshot example and I really don't know what to do now. For some context, I am writing in ACS template with provided styles. But I'm not sure that is the problem and I have never encountered before. I have changed three computers and the issue persists.
Please help. Thank you.
what is the form of citation of reference method ISO, AFRNOR in journal bibliography?
Hey,
currently I am writing an article using the Nature citation style. However, I have a question on how to cite the same book multiple times (e.g. different chapters/pages of it).
I contacted their author support, but did not receive a reply.
Can I use the same superscript for different page numbers (corresponding to different references in the book) for in-text citations and use one reference to the book in the bibliography? This would complicate giving page numbers. Or does each citation (and thus page number) require an own superscript/entry in the bibliography? This in turn would unfortunately lead to a (in my opinion) unnecessarily long reference list. Apparently, giving page numbers is not required for the Nature citation style, but (for an unknown article), I find it cumbersome to read an entire book just for the sake of finding a potentially small piece of information that has been referred to.
I'm curious how you solved this issue.
Kind regards
Philipp

I am interested in test anxiety and would like to dig into the seminal meta-analysis by Ray Hembree published in 1988. Does anyone has access to the bibliography file containing the list of studies included in the meta-analysis?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
As stated above I would like to know if there exist a simple way to discriminate experimental from theoretical works in the output results of a generic bibliographic search. For example type "Silicon" in Scholar or Web of science and select only the experimental results.
Not sure this is even possible.
Cheers,
We also want to work with children from 6 to 15 years old and use "visual tasks" with them to study the meanings that they attribute to certain aspects of the structure and creation of their families. We know different tools for this purpose, such as posters, drawings or the family apple tree (Turner et al).
Could you, please, recommend us a bibliography where to find other tools of this kind?

I need to write an annotated Bibliography on Gender roles.
We were creating reference/bibliography manually. Now there are some soft ware available to generate it. I have generated Mendeley library. Here only my papers are available. Is there any software available, where after inserting article content, references will be generated automatically?
I am looking for advice concerning a (supposedly) known practical issue : article overloads. While doing my PhD I was convinced that everything who went through publication was worth reading and understanding. My opinion as evolved since then for very practical consideration : lack of time to read biblio and absolute necessity to "pre-screen" something before deciding if it's worth reading or not.
Concerning scientific paper, the prescreening can be tricky. Since the format is very standardized as well as the wording (nothings sounds more like a paper than a paper), I often end up reading half a dozen page on a paper, annotates parts, spend time... before deciding I shouldn't spend time on it.
Do you have some "tricks" to share in order to lower that waste of time? While these "tricks" might be completely non-scientific of course, I still would enjoy them
I am conducting a Large N fsQCA, and I need a basic bibliography on this topic. Especially on scope conditions, necessary tests, and its relation to the deterministic ontology of the method. Would someone indicates it for me, please? Thanks!
- The Chu-Construction allows to obtain a *-autonomous category from the data of a closed symmetric monoidal category and a dualizing element.
- The Cayley-Dickson-construction builds an algebra B = A + A with involution from the data of an algebra A with involution *. Applied to the field of real numbers it gives successively the field of complex numbers, then the skew-field of quaternions, then the non-associative algebra of octonions, etc.
Due to closeness of the expressions of multiplication m: B \otimes B -> B for the multiplicative unit B we believe that there is an intimate link between both notions.
Has such a link been described in a reference text ?

Hi,
we 're looking for rapid test for on field measurement.
in fact, as part of our work as a technician, we would need a rapid diagnostic tool, which the farmer can use independently thereafter
we've bought recently a macherey nagel PF3-soil, but i do not know, if it is a good tool or not
Do you know if it exist more tools that give measurements as close as possible to those obtained in the laboratory?
I red in the bibliography that NPK-1 test, soildoc or kstart aren't really good
it seems to be the same for Lamotte, or rapid test by luster leaf
do you have any other resources? even really expensive

Hi all,
I am using mendeley for referencing. In numeric styles, there is no inbuilt setup for DOI inclusion in bibliography. There is a method on mendeley website that i tried a lot but couldnt solved the problem. I need someone here on this forum to guide me how to make changes to numeric style settings for the addition of DOI.
Thank you.

Dear Colleagues,
Do you know of any applications that help adjust references in a manuscript to a journal's stylesheet? I am familiar with Mendeley but I was wondering whether there is program that does not require prior uploading cited papers (just as Mendeley does).
Thanks a lot!

What antimicrobial categories and agents are currently considered to define non-typhoid Salmonella as multidrug resistant (MDR), extremely / extensively drug resistant (XDR) or pandrug resistant (PDR)? What bibliography can be consulted on this topic?
Hey researchers!
The journal I'm submitting to wants datasets to be listed in the reference as
[dataset] Authors; Year; Dataset title; Data repository ; Version; Persistent identifier (e.g. DOI)
where "[dataset]" at the beginning is literal. The type of other references (articles, books, etc) does not need to be prefixed in this way.
So, how can I get the [dataset] added to the beginning before author names using BibTex?
Example:
References
ref A; 2018; xxxxxx; xxxxxxxx
[dataset] ref B; 2020; xxx ; xx; xxxxxxxxxxx
ref C;2019; xxxxxx;xxxxxx

Hello. I am writing my thesis. Recently have started using zotero software for citations.
My requirement is APA style - with
1) In-text citation with (author, year) and superscript with number (the citation order)
2) Bibliography also needs to be in citation order.
Requesting guidance please - is there a modified citation style already available that I can download or how to incorporate this requirement pls.

When I use Hiscite to analyze the retrieved results, it shows that the 356 items I've searched for are totally irrelevant, which seems quite unlikely. I noticed that the LCS column of these 356 items are all "0" (Capture1), and the export buttom of "including the references cited" are missing (Capture2). So I was wondering do they stop providing the service of Hiscite or is there a solution in this case?

Stanisław Barańczak no doubt translated John Donne's Meditation XVII into the Polish language (most probably as Medytacja XVII). Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, the available databases and bibliographies do not include the precise bibliographical reference to that translation. I will be very grateful to anyone able to provide it to me.
We have done a bibliography over 150 solvents, and we found that there is an exception of the propiophenone.
The viscosity-temperature dependence of the propiophenone is very low unlike other solvents.
For your knowledge,
- lnAs= -8.51621
- Ea (kJ·mol-1) = 5.103731442
- Molar mass (g/mol-1) = 134.178
- Density (g/cm3 at 25) = 1.0105
- Vapour pressure (kPa at 20 C) = 1.99
- Surface Tension (Dynes/cm at 20 C) = 34.1
- Refractive index= 1.526
- Magnetic susceptibility (cm3/mol) = -83.73·10−6
In the attached file below, you will find some physical properties of other solvents.
Thank you in advance.
Author guidelines; in the reference section, the following statement is written:
"PCI Journal styles reference list entries using the bibliography entry format from the Chicago Manual of Style; the entry elements are separated by periods. When citing references within the text, use superscript numerals in numerical order starting at the beginning of the paper. The Reference section at the end of the paper should also list references in numerical order, and the references and numbers should coordinate. Every cited edition of a reference must be listed as a separate reference."
I looked at every Chicago Manual of Style available in Mendeley. Non of them would list references in numerical order at the end of the paper. All of Chicago Manual of Style list the references at the end alphabetically based on the last name of the authors.
Can anyone help?
I have created a map of my town (case study) using lot of historical maps on Qgis, i'd like to find some works in the same way to enrich my bibliography.

Hello,
I'm writing my tesis on social network and I need to found some bibliography about the argument. Specifically interests me:

references and bibliography are almost same but there are not equal
I found a problematic stream in my research field (International Management), but IM doesn't usually use extensive source criticism such as humanities would. Does anyone know some research that covers fields such as:
- ideological bias of authors

- non-scientific sources (e.g. popular science)
- eclectic bibliography
I know that some textbooks for e.g. PhD students might cover this passim, but are there any journal articles that covers this? Especially interested in critical (e.g. postcolonial) views on the problems of "non-Western" sources.
