When will the green transformation include avionics? When will hydrogen-oxygen-fueled aircraft be developed? When will emission-free aviation based on hydrogen-oxygen jet technology be developed? When will passenger and cargo planes powered by hydrogen-oxygen jet engines be built?
Since space shuttles, which were already built several decades ago, flew to the planet's orbit and were powered by hydrogen-oxygen fuel, it should be technically possible to build passenger and cargo planes powered by hydrogen-oxygen jet engines.
With the urgent transition to a zero-carbon economy, there is growing pressure to extend the green transition to avionics as well, i.e. to build zero-emission, zero-greenhouse-gas-emitting aircraft, and hydrogen-oxygen jet engines are such a solution. In the future, as part of the zero-carbon economy, such technological solutions should become widespread, and thus the green transformation should also include the aviation sector. The question then arises, when will this happen? When will avionics also be pro-environmentally transformed as part of the pro-environmental transformation of the economy and reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere?
Is it possible to build passenger and cargo aircraft powered by hydrogen-oxygen jet engines?
Is it possible to build transcontinental space passenger aircraft powered by hydrogen-oxygen jet engines?
Is it possible to also build small jet passenger and cargo aircraft powered by hydrogen-oxygen engines?
Will avionics also be pro-environmentally transformed as part of a pro-environmental transformation of the economy and reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere?
When will the green transformation also include avionics?
When will emission-free aviation be established?
What do you think about this topic?
What is your opinion on this issue?
Please answer,
I invite everyone to join the discussion,
Thank you very much,
Best wishes,

According to this article, they compared COVID-9 with 9/11 of USA and says, after the attacks, air travel was severely disrupted. The International Air Transport Association estimated air travel demand was down by over 31% in the five months following the attacks. Much of the money people would have spent on air travel and other vacation expenses was spent on consumer goods. So thereby there will not be much effect on the semiconductor industry. Is it suitable to compare COVID-19 with 9/11? What do you think about this?

Is it correct to use a term "drone/UAV special for fire service/fire brigades"? Or are there only a adaptations/modifications of available models (like adaptations of Matrice - see https://www.dslrpros.com/inspire-1-first-responder-thermal-kit.html https://www.rmus.com/collections/police-fire-search-and-rescue-drones)?
Relevant answer
Answer
It depends a bit on what aspect of the fire-fighting you focus:
- For the assessment phase, typically quite standard UAV's are used. These are typically sturdier models that feature a short deployment time and are often also used by civil protection, police, ...
- For the fire-extinguishing phase, purpose-built solutions do exist, e.g.: https://www.aerones.com/eng/firefighting_drone/

Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) is a key avionics technology used for aviation cooperative surveillance (i.e., aircraft separation assurance and collision avoidance). However, the absence of adequate security features makes this system vulnerable to a number of cyber-physical threats (jamming, spoofing, meaconing, etc.). What technological solutions can be introduced to address this challenge?

Dear Charles,
Thank you very much for your message and for the valuable documents. I am also very actively involved in this line of research. A recent paper on GNSS performance threats and augmentation strategies in aviation was recently published in JPAS (for convenience, the link is provided below):
In addition to addressing GNSS issues, it would be nice working together and investigating the feasibility of specific safety features that could be included in the ADS-B data-link as well.

It is significant focus on the electrification of transport. Car-makers roll out a number of new models with battery range similar to Tesla.
Even planes are assumed be electric in few years on shorter routes.
On the other hand hydrogen is again focused as a storage medium for excess renewable energy production and possible use in transportation.
There are concerns about the environmental impact and many raise the question: "how-green-are-electric-cars?" An example is found in the link below.
What could be the development and final solution for the segments: Cars, trucks, buses, marine and air transport?
Do you foresee any breakthrough of alternatives?
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Olav
Yes, in my opinion Hydrogen operated vehicles are better suited for long ranges I believe that that is the future.
It is true, as Ali says, that you need to have a mean to produce energy, the electric cell, however the utilization of electricity available in the case of batteries or generated in hydrogen cell have the same consumer: the electric motors that move the wheels
Also you need an extra space in the car to storage the hydrogen, perhaps, albeit I don't know it, the hydrogen tanks can be located in the lower part of the vehicle as the batteries.
In both cases, energy needs to be spent in the production of hydrogen and in charging the batteries
However, it appears from my perspective, that batteries have the advantage of using energy produced by the car when desaccelerating or braking, and I don't know if the same can be applied to hydrogen cells.
However, the very large advantage of the hydrogen cell is for large distances, since the hydrogen tank can be probably completed in the same time that it takes now to fill a gasoline tank. However, both cases, cell or battery are conditioned to the existence of refilling and charging stations.
From this point of view the battery needs some time to be charged from several hours to may be 25 minutes.
Another factor to consider is weight. It rests to be see, which is lighter the battery or the cell
Regarding how green both alternatives are all depends on the generation source. If both use hydroelectricity, they are the same.

Everybody talks about UAV (personal or Taxi service) being a game changer to our way of traveling and commuting.
Looking at ongoing research activities and some early flight demonstrators I notice that most of them have multiple, unducted/open, and interacting rotors. Solely from a system noise point of view I would assume that this will probably be the least successful approach.
Are there any new conceptual designs that will even stand a chance if community noise exposure and annoyance is really a topic (aside of "certification" or legislation issues)?
Relevant answer
Answer
I think this is a good question. Noise is a drawback for rotocraft.
But it is unavoidable, like helicoper. But we can reduce it with low rotation speed. Increase the dimension and number of blades is good choice. If you want to eliminate the noise, maybe you can try fixed wing or flap wing.

Recent research has delved into many aspects of aviation fuel consumption. In some ways the analogy with a personal automobile is apt: you fill up, and you drive until the tank is nearly empty, repeat. The difference for aviation is that the weight of the fuel itself significantly adds to the power needed to fly ("it takes fuel to fly fuel").  So, although the equations and ideas are well known, I would appreciate pointers to industry standard methods. Our goal is analytical shortcuts that would allow this idea to be built into a model of a major airlines network.

Hai Everyone,
As we know, public transport is important to tourism.
It can be categorised into 3 which are land, water, and air transportation.
The transportation is consists of trains, tourist busses and car rental services.
Is there is any possibility for me to measure the efficiency of tourist bus providers?
Is there is any past research on this?
Relevant answer
Answer
Dear Md Shafi in Shukor
As integral parts of the social fabric of communities across the world, buses and coaches are lifelines to work, education, leisure and tourism. A transport system acts as a bridge between places of tourist origin and destination.  There is a general agreement that tourism expands more when there are better transportation systems. Many researchers had carried out research under broader theme of "development of infrastructure and growth of tourism" under which they had considered every aspect of transportation. However, there is limited paper available for a specific mode of transportation like buses (As per my knowledge, because for similar research,I found very few paper) . As you know Buses for tourism purposes are always subject to regional policy and laws. Like in India, a tourist has many options for buses like State-owned, privately owned, Tour Operator Owned, Public Bus/Both Privately and State-owned, which are allowed to roam very state as they are having National Permit. At the Meantime, they are registered in the different state too. as you know Efficiency is the (often measurable) ability to avoid wasting materials, energy, efforts, money, and time in doing something or in producing a desired result. So in terms to find efficiency of their operation you need to be very selective and careful.

By combining stochastic frontier and copula function it's possible to relax two main strict conditions of standard SFA. These regard the normal distribution and the independence of inefficiency and the pure randomness component. It is possibile to prove that if these two components are dependent and follow distributions other than normal, then the estimated efficiency scores are highly biased, thereby implying that past efficiency literature might be wrong.
If you are using (or if you have used) standard frontier approach (e.g., à la Battesi and Coelli 1992 and 1995) you can provide us your dataset and write a joint paper based on the re-specification of your model.

- how do you understand terms "air transport" and "aviation" - what is part of what? What is their relations?
- what resources, mechanisms and instruments can be distinguished in the process of creating and implementing vision of the development of air transport policy?
- who are the decision-makers (politicians, others?) and stakeholders of aviation policy and innovation policy and what they are influence on aviation?
- how decision-makers (politicians) think about aviation policy, the process of its formulation? What demands report? Do they see the need to take into account the elements of innovation policy?
- what kind of barriers prevent the develppment of national strategy for aviation?
- what else is also important, but i didn't noticed, mentioned?
I will be grateful for all answers, links or proposals of literature too - it will by helpful for my PhD thesis.

Hello,
My name is Mykolas. I live in Lithuania and currently I am studying for my pilots license and Aerospace engineering masters degree VGTU (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University).
My final paper is about an importance of English language in aviation. So I would like to ask for help:
1. Information about techniques of evaluating English knowledge (especially for evaluating professional requirements).
l
2. Any article about incidents because of miscommunication or recordings would help.
3. Expert opinion on the subject would really help.
4. Information on where I could find statistics about the traffic in airports would help.
5. Any ideas to make the subject more useful or interesting would also be very appreciated.
I will mention and give credit to anyone who will help me on my Master's dissertation.
Relevant answer
Answer
As an Air Traffic Controller, I like my instructions to be understood by the pilots. If both of us are going to follow different languages as a medium of radio telephony, then imagine the confusion! Already we are facing the problem of phonetics and different pronunciation among all the stake holders in aviation like pilots,ATCOs and ground crew. The use of non-standard procedures and phraseology can cause
misunderstanding. Incidents and accidents have occurred in which a contributing
factor has been the misunderstanding caused by the use of non-standard
phraseology.
The worst accident in aviation history i.e.,Tenerife collision between two B747s on 27/03/1977 was due to non standard R/T only. So standard and uniform R/T is a must for safe operations. Language was a part of important factor in many accidents like Milan Linate airport MD10 and a Cessna. etc
Follow the link to know about the english tests satisfying the ICAO SARPs for Language proficiency requirements.
Regarding the air traffic through out the world check ACI (www.aci.aero) or IATA (www.iata.org). They are publishing the air statistics regularly in their sites.
If you feel I may be of further helps, please inform me.
Regards and best wishes.
