Creativity is important in every sphere, professional and academic development. When it comes to creative thinking, artistic expression, and aesthetic awareness play a crucial role to create works of art, enriching the world with beauty. In your perspective, what is creative reasoning?
Dear colleagues,
I recently encountered an issue on ResearchGate: one of my scientific publications disappeared due to a presumed bug, along with its statistics and access link. Naturally, I contacted ResearchGate’s support via the “Contact Us” form, providing all necessary details. However, weeks have passed, and I have yet to receive any response.
This raises a broader question: How responsive and effective is ResearchGate’s support in handling user queries? Given that researchers may face issues ranging from minor inconveniences to critical concerns (such as lost data, account problems or even plagiarism), one would expect timely assistance. Yet, my experience so far suggests otherwise (I hope, it is different in general).
I’d love to hear from you:
- Have you ever reached out to ResearchGate support?
- How quickly did they respond, and was the issue resolved in your or their opinion?
- Do you feel the platform relies too much on its community to troubleshoot problems rather than offering direct support?
Let’s share our experiences—your insights could help us (at least me) understand whether this is an isolated case or a common challenge.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
Best regards,
Tom J.
Think about willful academic blindness(ACADEMIC TUNNELING) vrs willful democratic blindness(POLITICAL TUNNELING)....
The first type/academic tunneling seems now normal, taking place at universities, thinktanks, international organizations, governments....which will lead to the death of science in a way that THOMAS KUHN was not expecting, BUT IT IS NOT BEING SEEN AS A THREAT TO THE SURVIVAL OF SCIENCE as it seems we are now in a non-science based world as science or not, they still will push what they want to push.....
The second type/political tunneling is SEEN as an existential threat to liberal democracy as political tunneling does not work under democratic rules just see the political dynamics under political tunneling processes under exism movements like Trumpism....
Hence, willful political tunneling with the support of alternative facts is seen as a serious threat to democracy from within, but willful academic tunneling with the support of alternative academic facts is not seen apparently as a serious threat to science from within, which makes you wonder, why.
And this raises the question, Why willful blindness is taken as a serious threat to the survival of democracy, but not the survival of science?
What do you think?
Note:
This is an academic question, not a political one.
As an academic working and pursuing a PhD degree in Egypt, both in private and public universities respectively, I wanted to put forward a simple question:
What is the role of universities, and other academic institutions, today? Was there ever a time where universities were agents of revolutionary action and change, or was it only a subject of the overall consumerist system?
We can take many steps back till the Ancient Egyptian times, where scribes and priests were taught writing, mathematics, and documentation of daily exchanges. All the way till today's era of digital globalization and mass education, where knowledge production process has become more of a virtual canvas rather than actual knowledge. Has knowledge ever served its purpose? Have academic institutions, and of course academic scholars, ever delivered the true purpose of education?
Was, and still, education's main sole purpose is economic prosperity of certain classes, hence socio-economic segregation?
Hi, I would like to ask ResearchGate community PhD students, postdoctoral researchers/fellows and junior scholars about the Academic Teaching Development in their home/working countries. I know that completing a PhD and then postdoc does not always includes teaching experience or even more specialized education on academic teaching. Is having an accredited or institutionally recognized education on academic teaching a prerequisite for applying in academic jobs? What is the situation in working environments you are aware of?
And then the one million dollar question : Are there any suggestions of accredited/(inter)nationally recognized Academic Teaching Development Programmes/Courses for junior scholars, ideally free and online or distance learning?
The question "Does the current objective of internationalization in higher education focus more on academic or political factors?" seeks to explore the primary motivations and priorities behind the process of internationalizing higher education institutions. It aims to understand whether the emphasis lies on academic aspects, such as fostering global research collaborations, enhancing educational standards, and promoting knowledge exchange, or if political considerations, such as strengthening diplomatic relations, geopolitical influence, and soft power projection, play a more dominant role in shaping the internationalization goals. By examining the key factors driving this process, the question delves into the broader context of how higher education institutions engage with the global community and the potential implications of their internationalization strategies on academic pursuits and geopolitical dynamics.
Looking forward to hearing your insights. Thank you!
I seem people list their Areas of Specialization (AOS) and Areas of Competence (AOC) on their academic CV's, but it is not clear to me how these categories are distinguished from each other. Is the AOC the general field in which you work and the AOS your specific interests within that general field? Or does the AOS represent your research interests and the AOC your teaching abilities? Or is it something else?
Thank you for your help!

How can researchers effectively tailor their writing style and language to different audiences, such as peers, policymakers, or the general public?
Greetings to my fellow members of the academic research community,
My academic journey as a PhD student has presented me with a significant challenge. I've long aspired to join a research laboratory where scientific activities are conducted with genuine enthusiasm and dedication. My passion lies in the pursuit of knowledge and engaging in intellectual discourse with fellow researchers who share my enthusiasm for scientific exploration. Regrettably, my attempts to establish connections with various research laboratories, universities, and distinguished professors have not yielded the anticipated results.
Despite my unwavering commitment to highlighting the availability of financial support from my institution, the responses have been somewhat limited. I've observed that colleagues from different academic institutions readily establish connections with research laboratories and professors, although it appears that their intentions often lean towards short-term engagements rather than meaningful contributions to laboratory work and the broader scope of scientific research.
These colleagues seem to effortlessly secure acceptance letters from these research laboratories, prompting the question: What factors contribute to this noticeable difference in response? I humbly seek your guidance in shedding light on the underlying reasons for this discrepancy. Additionally, I would greatly appreciate any insights, advice, or strategies you may offer to increase the likelihood of receiving acceptance letters that genuinely reflect an interest in my research pursuits and pave the way for long-term collaborative relationships.
I thank you for your invaluable assistance and wisdom.
Hi,
What are the main guidelines, could you give for a new researcher who is going to make a research proposal?

This topic has generated a lot discussion on the ethical implications of using language models like ChatGPT in academic settings. It drives us to consider potential biases, accuracy issues, and professionalism in academia while employing such technology. Furthermore, it encourages the investigation of alternate ways or complementary approaches that can improve academic success while resolving concerns about the incorporation of ChatGPT.
By considering the use of ChatGPT as a catalyst, and given the controversy surrounding their role, what are the potential benefits and drawbacks of introducing ChatGPT or similar language models into the academic product creation process? and does it assist the academic researcher in producing an efficient and engaging academic output, or does it cause the researcher to lose their ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely and conveying arguments in a logical and convincing manner?
I am writing to you today about the educational experiences that Researcher.Life curate for researchers. We are in the process of creating a holistic training course for researchers specifically in Europe and have put together a survey to understand the needs and requirements of researchers better.
The course is meant to be most helpful for early-to-mid career researchers to help with finding work-life balance, emotional and stress management, self-improvement, and enhanced productivity.
It would be great if you could share your inputs and ask fellow researchers who are based in Europe, and who are in your network to fill out the survey, that will really help as well (to get their point of view). The survey should take no more than 3 minutes of your time.

The credibility of a journal may be assessed by examining several key factors:
- Where is it indexed? Is the journal included or indexed in the major bibliographic databases for the field?
- What is its publishing history? How long has the journal been available? ...
- Is it peer-reviewed?
- What is its impact factor?
How should schools, colleges and universities take advantage of new technologies so that they do not lag behind technological progress?
In recent years, the world has been increasingly influenced by the ongoing fourth technological revolution. Industry 4.0, biotechnologies, green technologies, innovation, etc. are being developed. The development of information processing technologies in the era of the current technological revolution termed Industry 4.0 is determined by the development and growth of applications of ICT information technologies, internet technologies and advanced data processing. The current technological revolution defined as Industry 4.0 is determined by the development of the following technologies, analytical techniques, ICT solutions, etc. : learning machines, deep learning, artificial intelligence, smart technologies, Big Data Analytics, Data Science, cloud computing, machine learning, personal and industrial Internet of Things, Business Intelligence, autonomous robots, horizontal and vertical data system integration, multi-criteria simulation models, digital twins, additive manufacturing, Blockchain, cyber security instruments, Virtual and Augmented Reality and other advanced data processing technologies Data Mining. New technologies and innovations are emerging from research institutes, R&D centres, new technology development centres, technology companies, universities and other entities, among others. On the other hand, newly emerging innovations and technologies find new practical and business applications through their implementation in the various fields of activity of actors. Also schools, colleges and universities try to implement new technologies into their activities, so as not to lag behind the technological progress.
In view of the above, I address the following question to the esteemed community of scientists and researchers:

Trying to investigate how students' academic skills can be improved in a way that enables a better integration with university study and research requirements.
What aspects do university writing centers usually cover? Are critical thinking skills included in these activities or do you have other venues that undertake this task in your university?
Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Working in the research field, you will be weighted by your h-index.
However, publications might not be cited by others despite your hard work.
Do you think we should publish only citable research or publish as many as we could to contribute the academic field?
In a given class room, if all the class is unable to understand what you teach, and the whole class scores F grade (Fixed grading system), is there possibility that the whole class is dismissed? In other words, if the whole class scores an average grade of less than the pass mark cut point in all the subjects, can the whole class be dismissed? Assume 10 subjects are taught by 10 different teachers.
What alternative ways universities use for academic assesment of students?
Dear Colleagues,
I have been formally teaching since 2009 at the university level. Also, I have been pursuing my Ph.D. at the University of Malaya since 2018, now waiting for the final viva.
I am very passionate about teaching and always enjoy sharing my understanding with future generations. Also, my heart is whispering for the Post-Doc.
I am requesting your kind suggestions or directions, especially, regarding what should be my future plan. What is the best time to start my Post-Doc?
Regards

Dear Academics,
What are the different presentation skills that must be developed by any presenter in presenting a poster and oral presentation?
Hello fellow researchers,
Could you please recommend which instrument is suitable for measuring Dweck's Growth Mindset for primary school-age children (age 8-12 or age 10-12)? and preferable if there is a Dutch version of it.

Dear Colleagues,
No doubt, there are huge pressures to complete Ph.D. and there are various other factors that force a researcher to undertake different wrong steps.
Academic dishonesty is one such step that is very much prevalent. Once you encounter such a work that has elements of academic dishonesty, how to deal with it?
Given such a scenario, what must be changed and how to encounter it, through a humane approach.
Your response shall help a lot of people.
'Newcomers' in the sense of young lecturers / university instructors / tertiary teachers. I'm involved in Talent Development. I find although MOST new university educators are receptive to learning to become a university teaching professional... SOME are negative from the start!!!
My master’s thesis generally focused on the pre-enrolment factors influencing academic performance. I graduated but would like to understand further the possible inferential statistics I could have performed, whether relating to my research topic or not necessarily addressing my topic. Currently, I am exploring my questionnaire for possible statistical analysis. I recently realised how generous people are on RG in guiding those who need help, like in my case, and would like to tap into their expertise. I had slightly over 200 undergraduate students studying an entrepreneurship qualification and had missing values on some variables.
My questionnaire is structured in the following manner:
Section A (Demographics)
- Level of study (five categories)
- Gender (dichotomous – Male/Female)
- Citizenship (dichotomous – Country A or Not-country A)
- Age
Section B (Profile of students before being accepted at a university)
The section had nine dichotomous items (Yes/No)
- Four items relate to admission entry requirements
- One item relates to whether students completed their high school in rural or urban areas
- Four items relate to career aspirations (what the student wanted to study and where)
The following sections C, D and E relate to the perceptions of the students (Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree)
Section C (Issues experienced at high school level)
- Six items made up of four-point Likert type question
All the items relate to issues that influenced student performance during their high school studies
Section D (Entrepreneurial attributes)
This section had ten items (4-point Likert type questions)
- All tested the entrepreneurial attributes of the students
e.g. (i) I am confident in my abilities to succeed; (ii) I find it difficult to adapt to change
For the above two questions, a score of 4 confirms the skill for item, (i) while it confirms the lack of the item skill (ii). So, five items were asked following item (i) style while the other five followed the style on item (ii)
The aim of the above style of presenting statements was to ensure that participants read all the statements.
Section E (Student support and development)
This section had nine items (4-point Likert type questions)
- Four of the items measures the uptake of the support rendered by the institution/department
- Two items measure how the students have adapted to the curriculum offered in line with their career goals
- Three items relate to the three teaching methods
I am using SPSS and SPSS Amos to analyse my data. I would appreciate some guidance on the applicable inferential statistical analysis.
How do you judge the success of a particular presentation st conferences, workshops and seminars?
Kindly share your valued opinion. Best regards
People are searching for certainty in Science and that’s the opposite of what leads to scientific breakthroughs. How to deal with this?
What makes a researcher independent and how this can be practised? How to enable any such skill among PhD/Post-Doc students, or even before that stage? Please Feel Free to add your observation, arguments and experience.

Kindly could I have your opinion on the relationship between the psychological condition of the researcher and his/her academic life?
Does it really influence? Yes/No
What are available research studies?

Differentiating Science from Pseudoscience is becoming a challenge at so many levels these days. How can we separate the two and acknowledge a grey area in between?
Especially for newcomers to tertiary education, do they need to focus on research + present + write + publish like the oldtimers, or do they just need to focus 100% on their online teaching activities?
Hi everyone,
Some time ago I shared my scientific essay with GRIN. They offered me selling hard copy of this work via GRIN site or Amazon and pdf version to download from GRIN. I prepared pdf version of the paper and upload it, but I must admit there was inconsistency between final version active on site and pdf version that I have shared with them - problems with accurate formatting. Even if I selected for free option, little price was set up for downloading the pdf. Each one who wants to upload its own paper, has to agree with conditions, and one of them is that the paper will be active at least for 5 years under agreed conditions.
Still I have doubts if I did wrong or good sharing my essay with them. As a publisher was GRIN suitable choice indeed? What do you think? What experience do you have with this publisher?
Thanks in advance for your reply!
Dear Researchers, Scientists, Friends,
Academic incubators of innovation and entrepreneurship are developed at universities to support innovation and entrepreneurship of students. Incubators are also a supplement to the educational program in the field of activating the innovation and entrepreneurship of students. Incubators sometimes also perform functions or cooperate with a career office for students. Career offices collect employment offers and organize internships for students through cooperation with companies and institutions that employ or give practice to students.
Sometimes academic incubators of innovation and entrepreneurship also cooperate with various institutions and companies in which students find employment or take apprenticeships. In addition, academic incubators of innovation and entrepreneurship, cooperating with various institutions and companies, enable the establishment of clusters of innovation, in which various economic entities, public institutions, scientific institutes and universities cooperate with each other. In this way, the possibilities of entrepreneurship development and generation of innovative solutions in assumed and developed research projects and startups are increasing.
Sometimes, also with the innovation cluster or business incubator, financial institutions cooperate, primarily banks offering financial support in the form of preferential loans for developing innovative startups. However, at the early stage of the establishment of business activity by students and organizations, the most important role is provided by substantive support in the field of advising on the formal and legal issues and accounting service of the university, lecturers and employees of the academic entrepreneurship incubator.
Do you agree with my opinion on this matter?
In view of the above, I am asking you the following question:
What is the role of academic business incubators?
Please reply
I invite you to the discussion
Thank you very much
Best wishes

Reviewers play a pivotal role in scholarly publishing. The peer review system exists to validate academic work, helps to improve the quality of published research, and increases networking possibilities within research communities. Despite criticisms, peer review is still the only widely accepted method for research validation and has continued successfully with relatively minor changes for some 350 years (Elsevier, 2021). If you could change something to improve how the peer-reviewed process is traditionally done, what would you change?
Our research world has become dependant on research output.
Many academic jobs depend on a certain sustained level of research.
Is this unhealthy?
Does it stunt creativity? Does it create pointless research? Does it lead to plagiarism?
Should we have different outcome measures eg a Research Quality Score per article, rather than number of articles?
Dear friends.
I have been been involved in journalism for the majority of my adult life, both as a talk radio host, but later also despite my aversion as a child as someone who writes articles, mainly in the sphere of politics and business for different outlets. During my radio days it was almost a natural law that if you covered a political event you had a guest from academia. This is something that has changed.
Today political commentators who are non academics and also not very neutral ( CNN, Fox etc) has taken over the role of the political scientist as the expert in the field.
Academia had a natural place in society for centuries but as of lately political and societal forces has undermined the legitimacy and the authority of academia and science it self as an institution. Former president Donald Trump is often seen as the first "Post truth president", a truth with modification perhaps. In the political arena, far right parties has challenged the very role of science in society and replaced it with spinn. Facts and counter-facts are words many of us have gotten used to as well as alternative facts, reminding us of the scientific streams that claims that there is no objective truth.
Why do you think this is? what are the implications and how can academia make it self relevant again? ( If it is not). Perhaps academia is losing its position as an institution?
Best Wishes Henrik
* Not only right wing parties has a problem with the truth, the same illness has been present also to the left of center.

Currently there is a move towards learner analytics, using data points to inform student academic development and support initiatives. What are the risks associated with this approach?
I'm a research student working on my research on disaster awareness.
I want to know how much researchers support the idea of using digital video survey and interviews for the research thesis.
For the past few years I have been in doubt and a question about the nature of research always occupies a part of my mind.
As researchers, we have been asking and researching for years. We may become famous in our own field and eventually be remembered as an influential scientist. But the question is what is the final outcome of the research-based lifestyle for the researcher?
In other words, what is valuable in research that motivates a scientist to do research all or most of his/her life?
Ps: I have this view on other issues as well. Why does anyone farm all their life or be a teacher or a doctor? Why should these things be important for the person to do for many years?
I know some programming language like C, C++, R and familer with basic concept of Matlab and phyton.
As a prospective PhD student in cognitive psychology I'm not sure what should I write about programming in the resume.
In other words, I like to know, what specific skills in programming is important for graduate school?
In the last decade, boosting sustainability has been extensively studied in developing countries and developing societies. According to many works of literature, many attempts strive to achieve sustainability's main goals. Moreover, in Paris Conference Agreement in 2015, a decision to low the harmful gas emissions and low the earth's temperature by 2° C had been made.
I was astonished while working on my research paper in the following link:
As I found out, developing countries already have possibilities and opportunities to boost and achieve its targeting goals. At least the 17 goals that UN was determined. Although it is obvious that boosting sustainability is too hard for these contexts, I really seek to know why?
This is a well-recognized issue that necessitates a better approach toward figuring suitable solutions. Perhaps one of the first questions to arise is: How can we boost sustainability in Developing Countries?
I am open to research collaborations in social science and related fields. I am a young academic and I have interest to build my career around research and business. I therefore solicit the interest of senior academic and fellow young scholars to engage in research studies at different times, publish same papers capable of solving problems and contribute to knowledge.
This will help our careers to grow. We joined our expertise together and make good exploits. I am an expert in data analysis and research design. I have good contributions to make in research and a collaboration will avail me such opportunity to impact.
If you find this useful you can contact me and let us work together.
Thank you.

Peer assessment helps students to be more objective about their own learning and it can assist learning, it is argued. Its worth to student evaluation would perhaps be questionable too.
I heard about it that there are some websites where researchers sell/share ideas, data and workforce. Especially in China. But haven't noticed any yet.
Do you know any of such sites and generous enough to share the link with us, please?
according to you what are Hot problems currentlyworld is facing? And what solutions you would suggest to solve them?
Few notable comments from George Freidman of Stratfor about University Professors. These are found in his amazing book “Storm Before the Calm
— University professors have the World’s Highest-paid “part-time job”
— Teaching becomes increasingly easier over time, with little preparation needed
— For the graduate faculty, RA/TAs do all the hard work of grading and often tutoring
— An average professor writes research papers that have little to no real application. Most teaching faculty write papers for “appearance only”.
— Adjunct Faculties bridge the gap and increase productivity at a lower cost, with a little solid distinction between a tenured vs. adjunct faculty from the standpoint of the student
— This is not sustainable, and this will change in the next 10 years dramatically
In the course of work-from home for more than a year, a work done completely at home needs institute affiliation or home's address ?
How this works for the early stage researcher's who are very mobile ?

PhD is considered as the highest degree one can get from the university and also is recognized worldwide. What is expected out of a PhD degree, the holder and the providing institutes ? What are expectations of society and science from them ?
Do you have any idea of how it may impact the following -
What are Health effects ?
How it effects sustainability ?
Is there any study on growth impacts ?
What about energy and environment ?
How it impacts the ecology and environment ?
How it impacts the local economy ?
I have observed that most highly rank academics in developing nations e.g Nigeria rarely display mentor- mentee relationship
Education is important.
What is your opinion about education? about higher education?
What do you expect?
It seems that there is, more or less, some sort of consensus on academic standards. Who is responsible for drawing the guidelines that shape the way academia functions? Who do you think puts the standards for research publishing in influential journals?
Recommendations by ordinary researchers? Decisions by elite researchers? Do policy makers have a say in this? What connects these academic decision makers, whether individuals or institutions, and governs them?
I would appreciate your views. Thanks!
This discussion aims at discovering issues regarding computer-aided composition of efficient research teams. What this discussion is not? It is not focused primarily on either organizations or management or leadership problems. The sole purpose can be expressed hence as recovering mechanisms of formation of efficient research teams in the academic context.
Usually, composition of human research teams considers expertise and knowledge of the team members. As humans, these members have their emotions and personality. In the globalized world, such research teams can be spread geographically all over the world. In summary, composition of research teams addresses, for example, psychological compatibility of the team members, their emotions, personality and culture.
Mathematically, formation of heterogeneous research teams which members complement each other can consider existing models, such as Piccard's HMMs for affective behavior or Big-Five personality model or Hofstede's cultural model.
This discussion addresses therefore the following questions. How can research teams be composed, for example, in regard to professional, emotional, personal, and cultural abilities of its members? What are the measures that assess team performance? How existing management techniques such as SCRUM can be adapted to requirements of teams performing research in the academic context?
There is that sardonic joke that talks about the academically high achievers who end up working for their school-failing peers. The joke is circulated in different cultures. Do you think academics, researchers and intellectuals who are dedicated to knowledge do not fit for political leadership or administrative positions?!
I'm seeking a justification for the existence of academic philosophical work.
My question is about established 'insights': stable advances, which are largely exempted from any further controvery (about progress ...).
I'm thinking of insights significant not merely for academic philosophical debates themselves (because such justification of academic philosophical work would be circular), but of advances which are relevant or thrilling to those 'out there'.
POSSIBLE EXAMPLES: (a) The objective existence of moral facts was proven by ... in ...; (b) The nature/notion of 'justice' was properly displayed by ... in ...; (c) An explanation was given of how brains 'generate' mind by ... in ...
Just imagine someone claiming that academic philosophical work is actually quite futile, that during the past hundred years, for example, academic philosophical work delivered no discernible progress at all. Then, try to reject their doubts by giving three or four striking counter-examples.
There are, of course (correspondingly), "idiotic" Questions. And ridiculous speculations by-analogy (and by-analogy is always suspect). (An example of "Answers" by foundation-less and link-less analogy is " 'quantum' explanations" to several psychological things; it is a bad joke any such person could have a graduate degree !) Sorry: my perception of common things here on RG. And, after years of nonsense, I have decided to state my observation.
It is likely very nearly pointless that I am here on RG (and there have been only so many years I have been able to try to fool myself).
Since some journals have electronic ISSN or print ISSN only.
Smart working
Usually
"is known as a new model of work that uses the new technologies and the development of existing technologies to improve both the performance and the satisfaction that is obtained from the job".
What are its advantages and disadvantages of it?
Do you have smart working in your country?
Many thanks for your suggestions

If you had to train a researcher and you could only do so by prescribing them books and other written and electronic sources, which resources would you use most confidently? Also, think in terms of things you wish you knew when you started or resources you wish you could access at the beginning of your career.

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share information/knowledge about research in higher education (HE) explicitly connecting: a faculty/academic development training program + participants’ (HE faculty members) learning + students’ learning.
To put it in another way. I am interested into knowing about research that combines the analysis of a faculty development program attending to: 1) how/what its participants learn and, especially, 2) how/what the students of those participants learn (thus, not their satisfaction).
On this regard, I am also particularly interested in faculty/academic development initiatives that go beyond single seminars, workshops, and courses of, for example, a couple of days. I am interested in initiatives that go beyond those (in terms of time and potential goals).
Thanks in advance for your interest and answers (if there is one). I will try to answer to all of you as much as I can.
In the meantime, more than ever, I wish you all to stay well and healthy.
Best regards
A contingency plan is a plan devised for an outcome other than in the usual (expected) plan. According to the quality assurance and accreditation process, it is required from all higher academic institutions to design a contingency plan in case of emergency, so no panic and risk-managed very well.
In a line of coronavirus outbreak and possibilities to close universities are there any contingency plans in a place? if not inorder the mangers to take responsibility and protect their students and staff are they ready to develop one? in your workplace as academicians do you know if there is a contingency plan available and who responds to implement it?is it developed at the level of institutions, colleges or programs?
I would appreciate your thought in this
I've been looking at the economics undergraduate curriculum and have been thinking and wondering as to what specific skillset we want to equip undergraduate students with in the working world.
One can think about this by thinking about the ideal career outcomes of economics undergraduates. Most undergraduates with economics degrees should ideally end up in two occupations* (ideally meaning that their education will correspond to a desired occupation):
- Data Analyst (using exclusively data to identify actionable information)
- Business Analyst (using data and qualitative information regarding the economic environment relevant to a given business to identify actionable information).
With these two ideal career outcomes in mind its very clear as to why intermediate microeconomics, econometrics and market macro makes a difference. However as to why the Solow Growth model is taught on the undergraduate level is a bit confusing for me and Im left with any satisfactory answer. This is a relevant question because its a part of the core undergraduate macroeconomics education so its relevant for even those not intending to go to graduate school.
In terms of specific career outcomes (it could be that this list is lacking) why is studying the Solow model relevant for the undergraduate student who does not intend to go to graduate school?
What's the right time to develop/finish mastering and doctorship research and what do you think about the pressure imposed?

I want to study child trauma, with the end goal of not only working with traumatized kids but also teaching others how to respond to, recognize and 'handle' traumatized kids (e.g. cops, teachers, staffers at psych hospitals etc...). If that's the end goal, where should I start? What sort of literature is considered to be a staple in this field?
Is it really necessary to teach unscientific knowledges of humanities to STEM students ? In Europe such as UK, Germany, France etc STEM students just learn their related STEM courses so that they can graduate in 3 years whereas in US 4 years. Since1 more year of tuition and living and starting 1 year late in job is a considerable loss of time and finance to students and their parents. These issues must be considered in favour of students who accumulate so much loan debts rather than US universities and relate academics.
What are the causes of such different perspectives of a paper by reviewers?
How should an early career researcher respond to it?
Kindly share your views dear colleagues. Best regards
Dickson
I want to know if there is reduction in value in terms of academic usefulness by converting an original article to short communication. Are these two article types the same?. Or, do they rate them differently in academic environment?
Across many fields there are common misconceptions - I'm curious to know what people find are the biggest misconceptions that the general public has about your field of study?
As a recently published doctoral student, I have found it difficult to share my work with others as I am (obviously) unknown (yet, hopefully). I have used the standard social media route of sharing the links to your articles but I feel that there must be other creative ways to doing this.
One other method that I thought is useful is by using Kudos (https://link.growkudos.com/1jsw7cnzoxs) which is a fantastic way of accelerating your research impact by communicating your work using much simpler terms.
Do you have other strategies? I would love to hear about them.
I am struggling to find any good summer/fall/winter research school on mixed methods research (for business and management, the area of broader social sciences research - also OK). Ideally, it should be within UK and EU institutions/universities. Do you have any ideas/suggestions? Thank you!
Are citations enough to know someones work? Many people from the industry contact me & thank me for my writings. How the industry part is measured??
Citations are complete picture of an academic contribution in social sciences?
I know so many people around me writing papers for the sake of writing papers to get it published. Conducting studies in the field where they never worked, not even have a chance to work in those industries/companies, yet they are writing and claiming to be the expert of the area based on the citations.
What is the difference between digital colors and chromatic colors?
Dear Network,
I was wondering how international collaborations between researchers are made? Actually, I would like to have a chance to work with other researchers in the consumer research, but I have no idea how can I start. I mean, how does it work usually (I'm completely neophyte as regards these matters).
Thank you for your help.
Winter break is either here or approaching for teachers around the world. What academic or school-elated projects will you be working on this break?
I have a media criticism paper that I am planning to first outline and then write (in first draft mode, at least).
I would like to know the process of establishing new high diploma health programs? Ex health education, quality Management etc.?
In order to compete with native-speaker researchers, non-native writers of English, in particular, do need to master English syntax in a way that enables them to produce meaningful and accurate research writing.
- So many young researchers/scientists even after helping/commitment don’t want to add (≤9) or in rare cases, supervisors/mentors not allowed?
- Still few researchers delete authors after revising/accepting the paper due to double-digit (>9) authors and vice versa?
- Why do young researchers behave like this and prefer single-digit (≤ 9) author’s paper?
- Your opinion matters and will be gratefully appreciated.
Great and workable ideas discussed at academic conferences often ends up at the conference venues. This makes many of our conferences hosted a waste of resources. Kindly share your views on strategies to send these ideas to the noses of policy makers for implementation. Research publication is a fine step coupled with written proposals to the offices of the policy makers.
Dear all,
I have a problem about finding current studies about my project which is related with humanoid robot head. Actully my question is not specific for this subject but it s general question for all fields of science. I am trying to find the latest study with using references of related papers, however I cannot find the last limit of it.
Thanks to all
With the established concept that each "Course Learning Outcome" should map one or more "Program Learning Outcome", does the Instructor holds an Autonomy to change the "Course Learning Outcomes" and simultaneously map it to a different "Program Learning Outcome"?
